NIBP cuff 사이즈에 따른 정확한 혈압측정에 대한 실험적 연구

Nowadays, a hypertension becomes the common disease and accounts for larger percentage of interest in the medical academic field. One of the most common blood pressure measurement technique is the non-invasive method. When a larger cuff is used by comparing to the upper-arm circumference of the subject, the blood pressure is measured lower than expected. Conversely, the value obtained by it is higher than normal case if a smaller cuff size is used. In this experimental study, 400 pairs of simultaneous blood pressure measurements on 50 subjects were obtained by the auscultatory and the oscillometric methods respectively by using three kinds of cuff sizes(Small, Medium and Large). Experimental identification for blood pressure differences due to the cuff size was proceeded. Also, cuff size standard for Korean was presented to obtain more accurate blood pressure according to the arm circumferences. As the result of this study, the selection of the appropriate cuff size was found to be very important because the main factors influencing the accuracy of the oscillometric blood pressure measurement was the cuff size by depending on the arm circumference of the subject.

차량구조부재의 경량화소재 적용을 위한 Hybrid 부재의 흡수에너지 특성 연구

In this study, the square members which were composed of the aluminum. And the hat- shaped members composed of CFRP and hybrid were used as the specimens. On the lightweight design aspect, the collapse characteristic and energy absorption capability of the each member were analyzed and compared. As the result of this study, the collapse mode of square aluminum member was mixed as axially symmetric and asymmetric mode. The energy was absorbed as the stable collapse mode. The energy was absorbed as the stable collapse mode. The square CFRP and the hat- shaped member became unstable due to the brittle failure with the folding mode. The square hybrid member was stably collapsed with compound folding mode combined two modes. The hat-shaped hybrid member was collapsed with compound mode combined outer CFRP hat-shaped member was collapsed stably by entering the fiber in the folding of square aluminum member and fragmentation mode of CFRP.

접촉 위치에 따른 에스컬레이터용 스텝 롤러의 기계역학적 거동에 관한 연구

An escalator which is widely used for step ascending system recently is operated by rotating chain below the escalator step connected with the sprocket which is located in upper part of the escalator. When the chain rotates, the sprocket wheel actually contacts with the step roller made of elastic urethane. As more people ride escalator or the rise of escalator gets higher, the larger reaction force is applied on a step roller which contacts with sprocket. Therefore, we must analyze the load condition and the appropriate rise of the escalator in which a step roller can sustain. So, in this study we got the vertical displacement on the contact surface of the step roller from the experiment of the roller contacting with a sprocket wheel, and compared it with that obtained from the nonlinear contact analysis. Then we analyze the stress of the step roller with respect to the change of the contacting area between a step roller and a sprocket wheel.

다중 압력에 대한 경계 조건 변경에 관한 연구

The hydraulic equipments use the hydraulic pressure by the control of valve. Most of hydraulic equipments are controlled to be activated in accordance with the proper pressure. In the case of the safety valve, when it is applied over the specific pressure number, the valve is drained to secure the safety of the system. These safety valves are activated according to the current pressure. In this study, prior to the analysis of the main control valve, the computational fluid dynamics are performed for the system in which the valve is opened or closed depending on the using pressure. The using pressure is randomly set and programmed in the scheme language. From the results of simulation, we can see that the boundary condition is changed at the using pressure. Using this simulation technique, we can automatically change the boundary condition when the pressure reaches the specific value. So, we suggested a solution of the problem of the override characteristics.

This study was performed to verify performance of power conversion device, which could product small scale power, using waste heat and thermoelectric generator. For this purpose, after conducting the analyses of thermal stress and thermal flow on power conversion device, experimental apparatus as well as power conversion device was manufactured and then its performance was tested. As for the results of analyses, it was confirmed that high temperature part of power conversion device was safe in case of maximum 160℃ for thermal stress. As for thermal flow, case of Input A was shown more vortex and large flow velocity than case of Input B due to influence of internal structure of power conversion device. As for experimental results, the power in case of water-cooling, which showed 5.31 volts as maximum power, was about 9∼13 times higher than case of air-cooling.

This research shows desorption possibility of a hot air of 60℃ by using solar energy heating system and the desiccant cooling system using solar energy can be realized. The higher desorption capacity of the charcoal is, the slower the flow velocity of the air, desorption time of the adsorbent are reduced faster the flow rate of air becomes. Therefore, it is considered to be sufficient reproducibility of the charcoal by the solar energy.

Aluminum foam fits with the light material and has the superior physical and mechanical properties. On the other hand, if the aluminum foam is used arbitrarily without the study procedure, the user can be anxious about the damage of the mechanical structure applied with aluminum foam. By taking notice of this point, the aluminum foam specimens with the type of mode Ⅲ by thickness are designed and the analysis of fatigue fracture is carried out with ANSYS program. By this analysis result, the maximum load tends to increase as the thickness of spcimen increases. The experiment of fatigue fracture is carried out as this verification and the experimental data are shown to approach simulation data. Therefore, the simulation result data of this study are thought to be applied to the real structural design of aluminum foam. And the mechanical property of TDCB specimen with the type of mode Ⅲ under the fatigue loading condition is estimated to be analyzed systematically and effectively.

In this study, by using a basic engine performance data, the output performance according to the driver’s APS(Accelerator Position Sensor) was segmented. And, power transfer characteristics of 16-step automated manual transmission was analyzed. Also, by combining vehicle load and engines and transmissions, determining of optimum shifting point was studied for the excellent performance report of the vehicle output.

본 연구에서 공작기계 주축 시스템의 고강성을 위해서 주축 베어링의 최적 위치를 결정하기 위한 설계 가이 드라인을 개발하였다. 주축 시스템은 주로 축, 절삭 공구, 모터, 그리고 베어링으로 구성된다. 축을 지지하는 부품으로써 베어링의 위치는 주축의 동강성에 큰 영향을 미친다. 가이드라인은 다양한 베어링 위치에 따른 정강 성 및 진동수 유한요소해석의 분석 결과를 바탕으로 개발되었다. 절삭 공구를 위한 절점 질량 요소와 베어링 강성을 위한 스프링 요소와 같은 적절한 요소의 종류를 사용하여 정적 및 모달 해석 모두를 위해서 통합된 해 석 모델을 개발하였다. 이 설계 가이드라인은 최소의 시간과 노력으로 주축 시스템 설계의 근사 최적의 베어링 위치를 결정하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

Large enclosure means a structure of high ceiling and large floor. In designing the heating system, many thermal conditions are considered, such as thermal comfort, IAQ(Interior Air Quality), heating load and energy efficiency etc. In this study, we propose a comfortable indoor climate conditions through proper air distribution analysis formed in residential areas according to various angles of the diffuser. The simulation conditions are 7 m high diffuser, 4/2 inlet/outlet diffusers, 39°C discharge air temperature, and 6 m/s exit velocity. The results show that 45° diffuser provides an optimal thermal environment, and the reason is that the velocity reaches the desired velocity below 0.3m/s at 1.18m elevation plane. As the diffuser angle is decreased, the asymmetry of the velocity distribution is increased due to the thermal buoyancy effect.

To enhance heat transfer characteristics of EGR, a numerical study on the effect of pitch variation to EGR is conducted. The commercial code FLUENT is utilized to simulate single spiral tube with constant wall temperature. The numerical analysis is performed with various mass flow rate. The results show that as pitch of the tube is smaller, the heat transfer becomes stronger due to turbulent flow. The heat transfer characteristics is mostly dominated by not mass flow rate but pitch. The general correlation is derived in Nusselt number, Reynolds number, and pitch. This correlation agrees well within 3% of maximum error.

But, sometime, inlet and outlet ports of ventilation systems should be built in limited regions to maintain reactor building robustness and radiation protection. In a present work, numerical simulations are conducted to investigate flow features in an airtight room when inlet and outlet ventilation ports are installed in various top regions. Based on the numerical results, arrangement of inlet and outlet ports in a small space is suggested.

The adhesion coefficient of railway wheel, which is also called as friction coefficient between wheel and rail is an important factor for obtaining the sufficient tractive force and the reliable braking performance at high speed operation of train. The adhesion coefficient can be affected by the conditions of the interface and the materials existing between the wheel and the rail such as oil, water and leaves. It could be also changed by a method to reduce the wear of the wheel and surface treatment of the wheel tread for higher adhesion coefficient. The friction coefficient is also well known as one of the factors which should be controlled carefully for securing the running safety of train. Therefore the investigation of the influence of the friction coefficient of wheel tread on the running safety of the vehicle was investigated. The results show that the effect of curve radius on the derailment coefficient is larger than that of the difference of the tread friction coefficient between left wheels and right wheels.

특허 정보를 활용한 주요 디젤엔진 출원인의 기술경쟁력 분석

This paper analyzes the technological competitiveness of diesel engine that are the basis for the development of diesel engine industry in the world. By analyzing patents made in US, EP (Europe) and PCT(International Application) from 1980 to 2013, we were able to identify the patent clustering and competencies of applicants. Diesel engine’s patents searched by GPASS(Global patent Database) made by KISTI are classified 4 clusters. According to clustering analysis, the patents have applied in the sequence of fuel injection(57.2%), exhaust gas(24.3%), combustion(15.7%) and intake manifold (2.8%). We newly present technology competitiveness index “A” by considering various patent information such as patent number, citation per patent (CPP) and family per patent (FPP). An analysis of diesel engine’s patents based on the technology competitiveness index “A” shows the leading companies of diesel engine technology are Bosch, Toyota, Denso and GM.

Freeform mirror with freeform is to concentrate sunlight, and reflects light. The light connecting freeform mirror to freeform mirror is processed by one image and displayed as a picture that people can see. This one picture is used to observe the planets of the universe and the earth from space. In order to obtain a picture of the tens of thousands km away, the performance of the freeform is very important. Performance of the mirror for observing the ground are having an effect on deformation for gravity. Deformation of reflector mirror is affected by position and thickness of mirror support. In this study, strain and stress of the reflector has been simulated by thickness of mirror support.

Hydraulic performance of a helical turbine varies with the speed of the influx of the duct. Therefore, in order to find the optimal shape of the duct flow analysis was carried out by using commercial code ANSYS CFX. From CFD analysis results, the optimum position of the duct pipe angle was 25 degrees and the average velocity of turbine inlet increased about 72% compared to the velocity without diffuser and the maximum torque of turbine was about 168.73 Nm, From performance evaluation test using towing tank, the velocity of 1.1m/s in the duct inlet and maximum electric power of 1.49kW were obtained. These experimental results were agreed with numerical results with 10% error range.

The performance of braking system is one of the important factors to secure the railway safety. There are many parameters including high operation speed, blending operation with friction brake and electrical braking which should be considered in the design stage to produce a reliable and relevant braking system for the planned railway line. Braking distance is affected by many parameters including wheel/rail condition, vehicle weight, initial speed, characteristics of braking equipment, brake cylinder pressure, and blending characteristics. This paper presents the method for calculation of stopping and slowing distances and braking performance parameters including required adhesion coefficient for preventing wheel sliding to evaluate the performance of braking system.

In this study, we investigated the effects of EGR rate and engine load on the emission characteristics in a 4-cylinder common rail direct injection diesel engine fueled with canola oil biodiesel (BD) blended fuel. The biodiesel blend fuel BD20 (20 vol.% biodiesel and 80 vol.% ULSD blend) was used at an engine speed of 1,500rpm. The experimental results showed that with the increasing of EGR rate, the combustion pressure and rate of heat release (ROHR) of three test fuels decreased, and the ignition delay was extended, the carbon monoxide (CO) and particulate matter (PM) emissions increased slightly, but the nitrogen oxide (NOX) emission decreased clearly. On the other hand, with the increasing of engine load, the combustion pressure and ROHR increased, and the CO and PM emissions decreased. However, the NOX emission increased slightly due to the rise of the combustion temperature.

The comfort of the vehicle is highly dependent by the vibrations from the road surface, such as through the tire and suspension. vehicle wheels are expected to have a major effect on the vibration characteristics of the vehicle tire. In this paper, compare the vibration characteristics of the special purpose wheels with FRF method and FEM method using the finite element model. And the natural frequency changes of using FEM according to tire pressure changes. Results show that natural frequency is changed by tire pressure change.

석재 곡면 절단장치 개발

In order to cut the curved surfaces of stone such as stone tiles, bridges and cylindrical column, there are disadvantages of time consuming processes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop the stone surface cutter to cut the stone surface. Properties of this newly developed stone cutter were technically obtained by several repeatable experiments. The average rotation speed is about 290 cm/sec and time to cut the curved stone surface is less than 3.5 hour per 1 m. Finally, the compressive strength of the product and absorption factor are 122 MPa and 0.2 %, respectively.

Eliminating the moldings bad problem such as weld line, burn, shot short, burr, flow mark, jetting, silver streak, black streak and bubble, and so on caused by interference a mold and a product in designing a mold for in injection molding processes is a very important problem. In general, the moldings bad problem can be avoided by side cores which are the principal members of a mold assembly. The objective of this study is to develop a mold structure with a harmonica core and vacuum system. This mold can decrease the effects of the various deficiencies such as weld line, burn, shot short, burr, flow mark, jetting, silver streak, black streak and bubble, and so on in injection molding. To derive the optimal position and dimensional constraints of the harmonica core and vacuum system, experiment or numerical analysis was performed under normal process conditions.

This study was carried out to develope the local heating system using hot water pad. Results of the study were as follows. When the outside temperature of greenhouse was reached at the lowest of 0.8°C, the surface temperature of heated water pad, the temperature inside tunnel, inside temperature of greenhouses were getting colder sequentially. The average temperature of local heating zone for experimental plot is 25.4°C, and control plot for entire space heating keep the average inside temperature at 25.6°C and internal greenhouse temperature were maintained constantly at the setup temperature in both a test and a control plot. The survey for temperature of inlet and outlet for hot water pad at above case showed that the average inlet temperature of hot pad was 50.2°C and outlet temperature for that is 47.8 °C and the temperature difference between them was 2.4°C. When the Circulation flow rate is 112 L/h and the temperature change is 1°C, the amount of heat exchange was increased by 112 kcal and the flow rate was changed to 360 L/h, the amount of heat exchange was reached at 360 kcal. The analysis of heating costs showed that local heating systme using hot water pad cost 2,976 won /day and the entire space heating system cost 32,987 won/day. Comparing with the entire space heating system, local heating system using hot water pad could save the 91 % of heating costs customarily required.

In manufacturing a barrel of small arms, broaching or button rifling method is widely applied. These methods, however, cause high production cost and technical difficulties in manufacturing in spite of their low investment cost at early stage. Thus, rotary swaging & radial forging method is studied as an alternative considering the product quality and cost effectiveness in manufacturing. In this study, barrels of small arms were manufactured by button rifling method and rotary swaging & radial forging method, and then mechanical properties of these barrels and performance of the small arm assemblies were compared and analyzed. As results, the barrel manufactured by rotary swaging & radial forging method showed higher mechanical properties including tensile strength, yield strength, and hardness compared to the barrel manufactured by button rifling method. In addition, at small arm assembly level, firing test was conducted with more than 10,000 shots, and small arm of barrel made by rotary swaging & radial forging method exhibited equivalent or higher performance in dispersion and firing rates. Therefore, it has been expected that the rotary swaging & radial forging method can be applied in barrel production.

The most box product system is designed to form into the complete product by cutting the raw material followed by the pre-folded line. But, such product system wastes the remaining material and takes long time to complete the product. In this study, an automatic curling box product system is designed to modify the weakness the current box product system has. The automatic curling box product system can shorten the time of the production and save more box materials. It can produce about 476 boxes per hour and has no erroneous outer appearance. The system is composed of four units such as a container unit, a base unit, a robot unit, and a control panel unit. Especially, the robot unit contains the hot melt gun which diffuses the glue.

The purpose of this study is to improve protective coating of metal fitting in small arms slings. We investigated and analyzed that there is any standards of R.O.K Army and US military slings for the latest standards. And we compared with the protective coating process of each others. Result of the comparison, first, US and ROK military are using a mix of phosphate coating and chromate that is applied to metal fitting. Secondly, protective coating as specified in specification and drawings can be tracked at the latest standards. However, it was not reflected in standards and drawings. Standards should be updated to reflect military’s opinion, if necessary. Applications of synthesized standards are necessary to unify protective coating of dispersed standards and drawings.
