A Study of the Healing Ability of Literature Song, Myung-hee The purpose of this study is to discuss the healing ability of literature. For this, first of all, the intrinsic function of literature is looked into, and theories of Aristoteles, Platon and so on are examined. Moreover, it is showed that the possibility of a cure through cognitive realization was found aside from emotional catharsis in the healing effects of literature. Especially, ‘literary therapy’ is considered to be a healing through cognitive insight as a strong advantage not in other Art Therapies. This seems to be caused by the feature of literature, which belongs to both Art and Humanities. The literature as the art takes charge of emotional healing, and as the humanities can cure and change humans through insight into their lives, that is, cognitive realization regardless of that it is ethical or intelligential.

Self-expressive Writing Activities Based-on Personal Narrative for Writing to Heal Park, Young-min This paper investigated the effects and significances of writing activity on personal narratives, and explored the ways to amply writing for healing and literature reading for healing based on personal narratives. I think that some experiential researches are needed to verify the effects and ways. But according to prior researches related to this topic, writing activity to write personal narratives should affect mental health and emotion stability of the students. Then it is important to encompass self-expressive writing activity based on personal narrative into Korea National Language Curriculum. Self-expressive writing activity has the merit that do not give the student writers cognitive load. As a result this writing program will make the students active, motivative, conative, and positive on writing activity. So the student should grow as good writers.

74․한어문교육 제27집 La musique possède des pouvoirs magiques pour la catharsis.

Problems and Direction for Improvement of the Authorization System for Korean Language Yi, Jee-yeub This thesis observes the problems of the Korean language authorization system from the internal and general perspective and presents actual directions for improvement of the relevant matter. First, the Korean language curriculum can be indicated as a problem of the Korean language authorization system. The purpose of education for Korean language is to foster the ability to creatively use the language and to critically and creatively accept and produce conversation and writing. However, writing education, which plays a critical role in achieving this purpose, remains as an insignificant part of the curriculum. Also, designated exam for the Korean language curriculum has yet been systemized. Second, the elective courses in the 2009 revised curriculum can be indicated as a problem. The division of curriculum into Speech and Writing I, Speech and Writing II, Reading and Grammar I, Reading and Grammar II, Literature I, and Literature II presents a serious problem. This is because the connection of speech with writing, and reading with grammar fails to properly realize the educational purpose of the Korean language curriculum. Third, other various problems, such as fairness in authorization evaluation, can be indicated. Various problems co-exist with one another, such as urgency of evaluation 국어과 검정체제의 문제점과 개선 방향․173 schedule and suspicions on fairness of evaluation. In addition, there are general problems regarding the authorization system for all subjects, including the Korean language. 1) Problems in the planning stage have largely increased duties related with authorization and accreditation, but relevant departments that manage such duties have reduced personnel and lack in professionalism. 2) Problems in the evaluation stage include work overload and lack of time and consistency. 3) Problems in the application, adoption, and provision stage include the problem of multiple application, excessive competition for adoption, and corruption related with adoption. 4) Although authorization and evaluation of textbook requires much time and personnel, this is not achieved in reality. The following present the measures for improving the Korean language authorization system. First, the importance of consideration for creative writing education must be emphasized. The basic content of writing can be connected by grade according to the developmental stage of the learner in the <standard and range of writing> of the curriculum to achieve the essential purpose of Korean language education. Second, Korean elective courses of the 2009 Korean language curriculum must be re-adjusted. The curriculum must not be classified for convenience, but the concept of selection must be acquired from students, the main agent of learning, and opinions of teachers must be actively accepted in the planning & execution process. Also, the authorization evaluation must be performed based on transparency and fairness. To achieve this, the textbook authorization schedule must be planned with sufficient time. Furthermore, as authorization duties are completed through tele survey and camp survey, this period must be extended from to a minimum of 15 days from the current 7~10 days. The general problems of the authorization system for all subjects, including Korean language, were presented as problems in the planning stage, problems in the evaluation stage, and problems in application, adoption, and supply. Extensive reinforcement of the editing department, evaluation schedule and consistent 174․한어문교육 제27집 evaluation, strong sanctions and incentive system were presented as solutions for these problems. Although such partial complementation is also important, a more fundamental solution for these problems, thus a plan for establishing a standing authorization/accreditation institution, must be actively searched. To achieve this, this study presented the plan for establishing the (provisional title) (Korea) Textbook Office (Agency), which has been judged to be most appropriate according to evaluation on <character of institution>, <managing duties>, and <independence>. It is concluded that there is no reason to postpone the establishment of this institution when considering the annual commission paid for textbook authorization. This solution will succeed in providing textbooks that diligently reflect the primary mentality of authorized curriculum and various, high-quality learner-centered textbooks appropriate for school education system in the aspect of reason, scientific validity, transparency and fairness.

A study on the aspect of critical education in Korean language textbooks of middle schools, third grade(Ⅰ) - with focus on literature education - Woo, Moon-young Criticism belongs to the literature among sub-categories of the Korean language education in the 2007 Korean language educational curriculum. It is recognized for its importance. Therefore, middle school third graders will learn criticism that definitely shows the grounds of interpretation of literary works. To get an idea of how the critical education will operate, this study examines contents of the critical education in standards of each part of the 2007 Korean language educational curriculum. In particular, twelve kinds of criticisms from authorized 3rd grade middle school textbooks are analyzed. The elements of critical education are organized into the standards of achievement of the sub-categories, but it must be solved that the elements are not systematized. In textbooks, reading criticisms of literature education area reflect the expected standards, but there are some problems. All the objects of criticism are poems and novels, and there are limited theories of criticism. When textbook units are being planned, the process of critical education is not (I)․201 considered. Most importantly, it is ignored that criticism is not only learned in literature education. Criticism can be found in talking, listening, writing, and grammar, as well as non-literal reading areas such as book reviews, brief comments, remarks, book reports etc. Critical education is corporated in the Korean language educational curriculum, yet it is also separate. They must be integrated within the critical education.

The Mimicry and Inmmigrants' Identity Expressed in Kim Jae-young's 「Ko-kki-ri」 Park, San-Hyang In this dissertation, the mimicry and the hybridity were applied to Kim Jae-young's 「Ko-kki-ri」 on the basis of Homi Bhabha's post-colonialism. 「 Ko-kki-ri」 is a multi-cultural novel that embody a pain of immigrant workers who came to Korea to achieve their dream through eyes of immigrant workers Ⅱ, Akas. This novel that includes troubles between Akas and his friends, immigrant workers and Koreans, and among immigrants has the ending of Indian ‘No-raeng-i’s death. People under colonization use mimicry and put the truth in disguise as obedience in order to survive. In this way, the mimicry has ambivalent features and they appear as resistance which produces confusion and untruth. Cultural hybridity means the mixture of cultures. As you see, in 「Ko-kki-ri」, immigrant workers fail to identify individuals as themselves in many cases by experiencing mimicry and hybridity. Since immigrant workers and married immigrants are also growing rapidly in Korea, public awareness has to be upgraded productively and openly to keep step with the trend.

Modern Poetry and the Image of the Sea Park, Min-young Since Chio Namsun's “From the Sea to a Boy,” which is regarded as the first modern poem in Korea, Korean modern poems have developed along with the image of the sea. The image of the sea is one of the representative images that signify a desire for modernization or a frustrated poetic ego along with nationalistic awareness at the time of the Japanese colonial reign. This study examines how the image of the sea has been applied in modern poems and how it reflects poets' self-awareness facing modernization, with a focus on the symbolism of images. The chapter 2 addresses the image of the sea that signifies “power and possibility.” To Choi Namsun, the sea means limitless power and the world of possibility boys should accept. In his poem, the sea functions as a symbol of the modern civilization boys of the new era should accept, sweeping away the relics of the old times. The chapter 3 looks at the sea as a utopia. The image of the sea along with the rising sun was made into the bright space with vitality by the Modernist poets in the 1930s. The early poems of Kim Kirim and Jung Jiyong are the examples with such images. In these poems, the sea is regarded as a wide, free and peaceful utopia or depicted as a gateway toward the wider world. It can be interpreted as a reflection of the dreams of the 320․한어문교육 제27집 elites who were studying in Japan to learn modern cultures and civilizations. However, these dreams turned into desperate depression while running into the walls of the reality, as shown in Lim Hwa's poem, “The Korean Strait.” The chapter 4 deals with the image of the sea and ‘sinking.’ The fathomless sea in Kim Kirim's “The Sea and a Butterfly” symbolizes the frustration Korean elites felt who were studying in Japan during the Japanese colonial reign. The sea in Choi Namsun's, which signified dreams and ideals, changed into the space of self-awareness full of expectation and betrayal, hope and depression, and their entailing fatigue and sorrow. Noteworthy is Seo Jeongju's Sea. He sinks himself in the scary fathomless sea to have awakening from the blindness. His sea is an abyss with boundless depth. However, by sinking himself into it, he paradoxically gains the power to rise from it.

Yun, Dong-ju’s ‘serial self-portraits’ and the growth of poetic consciousness Ryu,Yang-seon This article views Yun, Dong-ju’s poems, i.e. 「Boy」, 「Self-portrait」 and 「Map of a snowy day」 as ‘serial self-portraits,’ regarded them respectively as a past-oriented self-portrait (「Boy」), the self-portrait of the present (「 self-portrait」), and the future-oriented self-portrait(「Map of a snowy day」), and investigated how the consciousness of the poet grew. As a result, it was revealed that from 「Boy」 and 「Self-portrait」 to 「Map of a snowy day」, the consciousness of the poet grew along the following path ‘despair of the times → doubt about religion → restoration of religion → overcoming of the despair of the times.’ These three ‘serial self-portraits’ were written everytime when the consciousness of the poet reached a point where a certain qualitative change or leap is required in the dark age around the end of the Japanese colonial rule. As the poet regarded establishment of self-identity as the most important task, the ‘serial self-portraits’ was created in the process of this very bitter struggle with himself. Accordingly, the poet’s will not to be buried in the times along with the deepening consciousness of the darkness of the times finds expression in these poems. Also, the ‘serial self-portraits’ clearly shows how the spirit of martyrdom 윤동주의 ‘자화상 연작’과 시정신의 성장과정․347 of the poet, who walked the path of death cleaving the darkness of the times, was formed. They resulted from honest self-examination that transparently stares at the inner side all the time. The path of pure sorrow appearing in 「Map of a snowy day」, the last of the ‘serial self-portraits,’ was none other than the path of martyrdom in preparation for the ‘Cross.’ While writing the ‘serial self-portraits,’ the poet never wavered in determining the direction of an upright life that will never depart or deviate from such a path of martyrdom.

A Study on Intertextuality of Tale ‘Prince Hodong’ and Play 「Doongdoong Nakrangdoong」 Park, Kyoung-seon This study examined intertextuality of ‘Prince Hodong’, the hypotext, and 「Doongdoong Nakrangdoong」, the hypertext, from perspectives of repetition and transformation. The plot of the hypotext and main characters are repeated in the hypertext. Tragic love between Prince Hodong and Princess Nakrang is emphasized by changing the composition of plot. The importance of love is expressed through their love. In addition, the importance of a process than a result is being emphasized by portraying Prince Hodong as a person who pursues justice rather than expedient. There is also intertextuality of transformation in addition to repetition. Transformation can be found in a structural substitution and addition of a play within a play. The hypertext 「Doongdoong Nakrangdoong」 is the work that reconstituted a descriptive literature, which is the hypotext, into a theatrical literature. It shows the main event is not the past one but the current incident by changing narration into play. It also obscures the boundary between reality and fantasy and adds excitement of play for audiences by adding fantasy play and a play within a play called domestic rite. 「Doongdoong Nakrangdoong」 is telling contemporary men the importance 420․한어문교육 제27집 of love and an upright attitude of living the world through repetition and transformation of the Hodong tale.

A study on the changes of political consciousness of ‘Minjokgeuk(Korean people's theatre) movement’ - Centering on 1970․80’s Madang - Play and the development process of ‘Korean people´s theatre festival Hanmadang’ Cho, Hun-seong About one generation has passed since Madang-play, a synthesis of new concepts of Yeonhi(a type of Korean performing arts) and a play was introduced and established. This study mainly discusses Minjokgeuk(Korean people's theatre) as a progressive and active play movement having direct expressions on political and social matters in a narrow sense. One of its value of Madang-play in the history of Korean plays is that it is ‘a spontaneous style of a play’, an active succession of traditional folk performing arts in deep layer, which challenged the discontinuity of tradition and portability, the general trend of Korean plays since modern times. This study deals with Madang-play from a perspective that it not only took traditional performing arts in it but also accepted underlying social and political consciousness sides of the time instead of dividing it into popular consciousness of Talchum(Korean Mask Dance Drama) or resistance rituals of Minjokgeuk as related repeatedly by several researchers. Furthermore, this study tries to show that a look into Madang-play's political consciousness in the 1970s and 1980s testifies its literary merit for 448․한어문교육 제27집 the given time as a demonstration of aspects of socio-political consciousness and its communicative role in the relation between the public and media and to explain the necessity of review on its artistic style. Meanwhile, Korean People's theatre Association has been hosting HANMADANG(Korea progressive theatre festival) annually for 24 years. This series of plays shows Madang-play is concerned about ‘popular art’ and ‘national art’. This means many of Madang-plays talk about democratic and anti-foreign consciousness in the modern history of Korean. It is often said the era of Madang-play has ended. However, it is still on developing and changing in the stream of time not staying just a relic of the past though said it receded and retrogressed. The value of Madang-play is found in its emphasis on the realization of a ‘community’ and the homogeneity and solidarity through democratic agreement by all members in this specified and individulaized modern society. This calls for careful watch on the speculation of changing aspects of Madang-play's political consciousness

Literary Figuration expressed in Sanjungjapgok Heu, Wang-Wook This thesis has an aim to find out the literary figuration expressed in Sanjungjapgok(山中雜曲). This work consisted of 49 Sijo(時調) works, was written by Kim Deuk-yeon(金得硏). He was a classical scholar lived in the country, 17th century. He felt the need to establish his social statue, and he struggled to obtain self-identity of his classes. His creative writing activity was related to these efforts. In this study, I tried to identify an individual character of this work and significant phase of 17th Sijo works in the history of the Sijo poetry. And so, this thesis researched expressions used repeatedly in this work. Through expressions used in this work, I made clear some points. First, the attitude of writer isn't defeat, but affirmative about his life. And the main emotion of this work is not negative, but positive. We could agree the history of Sijo work in the Chosun(朝鮮)-Dynasty flowed to a specific direction, ‘finding a significance of daily life’, or ‘making sense of his own experience’. In this point, I can say that this work show new literary figuration different from works of previous periods.

‘Mankeum’ in the Comparative and Figurative Construction Song, Hong-kyu This paper showed that the comparative construction and the figurative construction have certain differences even though they look very similar in superficial structure. First, when the construction formed with ‘mankeum’ is construed as a figurative meaning the degree predicates are understood as having an absolute meaning, but as long as the predicates are understood as having a relative meaning the construction formed with ‘mankeum’ is analyzed as the comparative construction. Also, unlike the comparative construction, the figurative object of the figurative construction is not a necessary element but an optional element. Second, in the comparative construction, the comparative subject has the same degree as the comparative object with respect to the comparative content expressed by the predicate. However, the figurative construction usually takes the figurative object which is superior than the figurative subject in the degree related to the figurative content. Third, whereas the comparative construction cannot take a degree adverb, the figurative construction can take a degree adverb. Based on these observations, it has been claimed that the noun phrase with ‘mankeum’; in the figurative construction has a function expressing that an evaluation about a certain subject made by the speaker is an undeniable fact. Thus, the noun 538․한어문교육 제27집 phrase with ‘mankeum’ functions like a type of modal adverb which expresses the speaker's confirmation to the hearer that the information he informs to the hearer is true.
