여중생의 남녀공학 여부와 성역할 정체감 유형에 따른 공격성

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine aggression of middle school girls with type of school and gender role identity. Method : The subjects of this study were 526 second-year middle school girls (265 girls in the coeducational middle schools, 261 girls in the girls' middle schools) in Busan. This study was conducted from 14th to 29th of December, 2008 using Korean Sex Role Inventory(KSRI) and Aggression Inventory. Results : 1. There was statistically significant difference in gender role identity types according school types (=8.813, p=.032). 2. The whole aggression grade point average was 1.58.40 points(highest score: 4), and reactive-overt aggression was highest in the aggression types(2.06.63). 3. There was not statistically significant difference in aggression of middle school girls according to type of school (t=.188, p=.664). 4. There was statistically significant difference in degrees of aggression according to gender role identity types. The degrees of aggression in masculinity type was highest [grade point average was 1.70.44 points(highest score: 4)]. 5. There was not interactive effect in aggression between type of school and type of gender role identity. Conclusions : The findings of this study contribute to providing basic data for development of education programs or activities for middle school girls to relieve aggression according to gender role identity types.

Purpose: Suicide was considered as a big public health concern in recent years because suicide mortality has been increased rapidly. This study was to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of suicidal ideation among adolescents in South Korea. Methods: The data of 2007 Youth Health Risk Behavior Web-based Survey collected by Korean Center for Disease Control were analyzed using logistic regression for this study. Results: The prevalence of suicidal ideation was 23.7% in South Korea. The risk factors of suicide ideation were depression (odds 8.43), perceived stress(odds 4.30), drug use (odds 2.47), sexual intercourse(odds 2.36), present smoking (odds 1.76), present alcohol drink (odds 2.39), feeling unhappiness (odds 2.89), living with none of parents (odds 1.71), gender(odds 1.72), health status (odds 1.66), and socioeconomic status (odds 2.0). Conclusion : Health risk behaviors and mental health status were related to suicide ideation. Health risk behavior such as smoking and drinking prevention programs and mental health promotion programs should be implemented to decrease suicide ideation among adolescents. Suicide, mental health and health risk behaviors should be prevented through comprehensive health promotion programs.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to estimate income-related health inequalities among adolescent population across regions in Korea. Methods: Data of 8,456 adolescents from 1998, 2001, 2005, 2007 Korean Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were used for the analysis. True health status was proxied by self-rated health and overweight status. Per capita income was computed from household monthly average income adjusted by consumer price with base year 2005. Adolescent health inequalities were estimated by Concentration Index (CI) across income and space. Results: Ill health score was related with age (p<0.0001), gender (p=0.0155) and income (p<0.0001). Negative relationship between income and ill-health indicated that higher income group tended to enjoy better health and less overweight. These evidences suggested ill health were accumulated on the economically disadvantaged adolescents. The size of health inequalities (ill-health score) were estimated as CI=-0.057 and CI=-0.030 across income groups and regions, respectively. Comparable measures of within region health disparities were also observed. Conclusion: Since health disparity among adolescent population was small compared to adult population, lessening adolescent health inequality could be a helpful way of mitigating health disparities in later stage. Considering life stage of adolescents, school system and local communities could play important roles toward adolescent health distribution. Although health disparity between regions existed, health disparity within a region should not be neglected.

Purpose : To find degree of internet addiction of rural elementary school students and to assess the relationship of them to the health promoting behaviors in a rural area in chungnam province. Method : Children's grade, sex and their internet habits, and family background and internet addiction records, health promoting behavior scores of 5th and 6th grade of elementary school students. Self-recorded questionnaire surveys from 2nd December to December 20, 2008, and total 393 data were analysed. Results : The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. The internet risk group of 5th and 6th grade of rural elementary school students were 18.3%. 2. Place of major using internet were home in 84.6% of male and using internet time were more than 2hours per day and major purpose of internet was game(72.9%) than female. 3. Significant negative correlation between the degree of internet addiction and the health promoting behavior(r=-0.245. p=0.000) 4. Health promoting behavior score was 138.2418.64 in internet non-addictive group and 126.6616.81 in potential risk group, 124.6019.85 in high risk group 5. As a result of multiple regression analysis, degree of internet addiction, school record, health status, concern to health of the students by the parents were related to the health promoting behavior and these provided predicted 21.7%.. Conclusion : The internet addiction risk group need for the health education including health promoting behavior and counseling for treatment of internet addiction.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of regular health education by school nurses on middle school student's health related knowledge, attitude and behavior. Methods : A quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest measures was used. Questionnaire survey was conducted to middle school students(1st, 2nd year). The participants of the study were composed two groups : 274 in health education group and 336 in control group. Results : After seventeen-week of receiving regular health education, differences were observed between the experimental group and the control group to health knowledge(F=7.901, p=.005), health attitude(F=4.174, p=.042) and health behavior(F=7.675, p=.006). Conclusion : The regular health education by school nurses on middle school students improve their health related knowledge, attitude and behavior. So it is recommended to develop standardized manual and educational materials for providing systematic and effective health education.

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of the praising activity program on hope and self-esteem of adolescents. Methods: From Jan 26th to 29th 2009, 193 of subjects were participated in investigation in G city. After 4 days of data collecting in praising activity program, research is the pre and post similarity test to investigate hope and self-esteem of adolescents. Results: The average hope score of adolescents significantly increase from 3.39 before the program to 3.60 after the program. The average self-esteem score of adolescents significantly increased(p<.001) from 3.01 before the program to 3.15 after the program. From the results, the program showed that it has significant effect on hope and self-esteem of adolescents. Conclusion: The praising activity program as an affirmative mass psychological program is confirmed that it affects on hope and self-esteem. Therefore, it is expected to be utilized as promotion of health program for adolescents.

중학생의 외상응급처치 교육에 대한 효과

Purpose : This study was aimed to investigate the effect of knowledge and competence of first aid treatment among middle school students after the education on the injury treatment. Methods : The study design was randomized pretest and post-test control group nonsynchronized design. Study subjects were 32 3rd-grade students of Y middle school in P city and 34 3rd-grade students of M middle school in P city in this research. Among two 3rd-grade classes, one classes were randomly assigned to experimental group (32 students) and two were control group (34 students). The intervention for experimental group was providing five-time 45-minute injury treatment education. Results : 1. The First hypothesis : After intervention on the injury treatment education, knowledge of injury treatment in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(t=-6.480, p<.001). 2. The Second hypothesis : After intervention on the injury treatment education, competence of injury treatment in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(t=-15.121, p<.001). Conclusion : These findings suggest that the injury treatment education can facilitate knowledge of injury treatment, competence of injury treatment in the middle school student. Therefore, it is considered that the injury treatment education can be utilized as a effective way to implement the 7th nation curriculum.

Purpose: We interviewed 500 students attending to universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam using a questionnaire. The questionnaire was composed of some questions on general characteristics of the subjects, academic characteristics, health-related behaviors, family function, and drinking problems. Methods: The data collected were analysed with uses of t-test, dispersion analysis, correlations analysis and multi-variate regression analysis. Results: As a result of the simple analysis we found that variables related to drinking problems of college students were religion, family, residence, parents' job, living standard, major, academic year, exercise, parents' drinking, parents' attitude to drinking, drinking quantity, intimacy, conflicts, and upbringing tendency. As a result of the multi-variate regression analysis, we found that the higher intimacy between family members, deterioration in behaviors, family and personal relations, and social functions was statistically significantly low. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that drinking problems of college students had significant relations with intimacy, conflicts and upbringing tendency and suggests that an approach in an aspect of family functions is important to overcome drinking problems of college students.

Purpose: By analyzing factors related to suicide ideation of Korean middle and high school students, the purpose of this study was to multi-dimensionally understand suicide ideation of Korean middle and high school students and arrange the plans to prevent suicide. Methods: This study used and analyzed the data on ‘The 3rd (Year2007) Korea Youth Health Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYHRBWS)' conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this study, we analyzed 74,698 respondents in total. SPSS 12.0 Program was used to analyze the survey. Descriptive statistics, Chi-Square Test and multivariate logistic regression were also used as research methods. Results: 23.8% of the Korean middle and high school students had suicide ideation during the last one year. Girls had higher possibility of suicide ideation by 1.51 times compared to boys. Students with poor academic achievement had more suicide ideation. In terms of health characteristics, students who perceived themselves as not healthy, and students with short weekday sleeping hours, more drinking experience and more smoking experience had more suicide ideation than others. Furthermore, students who perceived themselves as overweight or obese had more suicide ideation than other students. In terms of mental characteristics, students with high level of stress, low level of happiness and depression had more suicide ideation. Conclusion: As a result of this study, we found out that the factor that had the biggest influence on suicide ideation of Korean middle and high school students was depression. Consequently, active supports and policies to decrease suicide ideation of Korean middle and high school students are necessary. Therefore, active interviews, education for suicide prevention, and periodical screening inspection should be introduced in schools.

Purpose : This study was to examine the emotional behavioral problem of children in low-income family who were participating in local children care center. Method : From June 2 to September 9, 2008, 322 elementary school children were surveyed using structured questionnaire. Emotional behavioral problem were measured using K-YSR. Result : In the distribution of three groups by emotional behavioral problems scores of subjects, normal group was 83.23%, borderline group was 9.32%, clinical group was 7.45% among 322 children. The emotional behavioral problem score of subjects showed attention problem .62(5.61), aggressive behavior .52(9.87), anxiety and depression .50(7.89), withdrawn .49(3.46), social problem .43(3.50), somatic complaints .35(3.17), thought problem .32(2.27), delinquent behavior .31(3.11) and total behavioral problem scores were .44(44.55). Also, total behavioral problem scores was not significantly difference by sex and grade, but the scores of girls students was higher compared with boys. Conclusion : This finding will be significant in that it can provide basic data for school mental health services, which can provide early intervention program for the students who belong to borderline and clinical groups.

초등학교 고학년의 감정표현불능증과 신체화 증상과의 관계

Purpose: This study is to identify the relations between alexithymia, emotional clarification, emotional expressiveness and somatic symptoms, and their effect on the elementary school students. Methods: This study targets 567 elementary school students and they are composed of 288 boy students and 279 girl students in 5th and 6th grade, and 283 in the 5th grade and 284 in the 6th grade. Results: In somatic symptoms, alexithymia, emotional clarification, and emotional expressivness, a significant difference is found. For the somatic symptoms and alexithymia, the subject in grade 5 show higher score than those in grade 6. For the emotional clarification, and emotional expressivness, the subjects in grade 5 show higher scores than those of grade 6. According to sex, only in emotional clarification, a significant difference is found between boys and girls and the girls show higher score that the boys. In looking at the correlations between alexithymia, emotional clarification and somatic symptoms, the somatic symptoms has positive correlations with alexithymia while it has negative correlations with emotional expressiveness. The alexithymia has negative correlations with emotional clarification and emotional expressiveness. It is found that the emotional clarification has positive correlations with emotional expressiveness. Conclusion: In respect to the effect of alexithymia, emotional clarification and emotional expressiveness on somatic symptoms, emotional alexithymia and emotional clarification have effect on somatic symptoms and emotional expressiveness has no effect on somatic symptoms.

Purpose: This study was performed to identify the socioeconomic factors, the health behavior factors and dietary pattern that have an influence on abdominal obesity, as measured by using the waist circumference in children and adolescents. Methods: This study used data collected from 1998, 2001, 2005 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Final sample included 3,596 subjects from 10 to 19 years old who had completed necessary health examinations, health behaviors survey, and nutrition survey. Results: 12 dietary patterns emerged from factor analysis with different factor loading. Logistic regression analysis of the factors that affect abdominal obesity showed that the education level, BMI(Body Mass Index) and dietary pattern, 'Kimchi' including Korean cabbage and radish affected the abdominal obesity in children and adolescents. Conclusions: Abdominal obesity is a risk factor for morbidity and mortality, and it is associated with chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Based on the findings, it is essential to modify dietary pattern for preventing abdominal obesity, which is a condition associated with the incidence of chronic disease in adults.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze students' expectance demand towards high school physical education teaching. Methords : 392 participants randomly selected from one girls' middle school and one girl's high school in each of five tracts and then selected two classes from each of the schools. They were asked to respond to a simple questionnaire about their views on the present physical education teaching. Results : Results showed that about one third of the participants would not choose physical education if the program were offered as an optional subject. Both male and female students ranked psychomotor domain as the top priority among the various learning objectives. Male students favored soccer and basketball while their counterparts liked badminton and volleyball. Over three-fourths of the participants suggested that students' opinions should be considered when teachers plan their program. Conclusion : The results of this study recommended that physical education teaching should be designed with considerations for professional values, societal changes as well as students' expectance on the design of physical education.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to explore the students injuries by analyzing the data which has been inputted by the emergency center of the cooperated hospitals and the 119 rescue party through the injury surveillance system in Cheonan city. Method : Students were divided into the elementary, middle, high school students with the 776 cases of children and teenagers(7-19years old) of injury surveillance system in Cheonan area from january to june in 2009. Frequency analysis and -test was done to recognize the features of students injuries among the groups. The program to be used for the statistical analysis is SPSS 17.0. Result : Out of the injury incidence rate, the elementary school students(52.1%) are first, the high school students (24.9%) are second, the middle school students appear to be 23.1%. Male is about two times higher than female by 66.6% in the injury incidence. In terms of the injury mechanism, the injury(22.2%) by hit is the first, the traffic accident(21.5%) is the second, the slippery(16.8%) is followed. The injuries were occurred most largely at 16:00-20:00(33.4%), and the 33.6% of injury by daily leisure activity occurs at 16:00-20:00 chiefly. Conclusion : Analysis using the data of the injury surveillance system has some advantages compared to the previous research such as reliability and specification. To prevent the students injuries, not the individual problem but the social dimension should be acknowledged so that we can secure and promote the safety from the risk. Therefore, we must organize the role assignment and the cooperative network in the school, home and community.

일 대학 신입생들의 기분장애 유병률과 위험요인

Purpose: Mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder are a major mental health problem in college students. We investigate the prevalence of depression and bipolar disorder and the relevance of risk factors for these mood disorders among one college freshmen. Methods: The subjects were 2,865 college students who entered one university located in Seoul and Ansung in 2009. We used BDI (Beck Depression Inventory) for depression assessment and K-MDQ (Mood Disorder Questionnaire) for bipolar disorder assessment. Demographic and socioeconomic factors were measured by questionnaire. Height, weight, blood pressure, total cholesterol, complete blood cell count, and liver function test data were obtained by physical examination for freshmen. Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression were performed to analyze the possible risk factors for depression and bipolar disorder. Results: With different BDI cutoff value, 16 and 21, the prevalence of depression was 8.7% (male: 7.6%, female: 10.1%) and 2.4% (male: 2.5%, female: 2.3%), separately. 'Low economic status', 'urban birth place', and 'low grade at entrance' were significantly associated with depression. Using the original cutoff criterion, defined as clustering of 7 or more symptoms that caused moderate or severe problems, the prevalence of bipolar disorder was 1.3% (male: 1.4%, female: 1.1%). The risk factor of bipolar disorder was academic fields (art fields). Conclusion: Depression and bipolar disorder are common disease in college freshmen. Therefore, Campus-based mental health service program is needed to help with prevention of and early intervention of these mood disorders.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between self-efficacy and health promotion lifestyle in middle and high school teachers. Methods: This study used survey data from 26 middle and high schools The study included 181 teachers who completed questionnaires. The questionnaires were consisted of demographic and occupational characteristics, self-efficacy on health behaviors, and Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile (HPLP). Analyses were done using frequency, percentage, correlation, and multiple regression analysis with dummy variables. SAS 8.2 was used. Results: Mean self-efficacy score on health behaviors was 4.10.5. Mean health promotion lifestyle scores were healthy diet (2.40.5), physical activity (2.00.8), stress management (2.30.5), self-fulfillment (2.90.5), responsibility of health (2.30.6), and personal relationship (2.70.6). Self-efficacy was significantly related to all health promotion lifestyle scores (healthy diet, physical activity, stress management, self-fulfillment, responsibility of health, and personal relationship). Among demographic and occupational characteristics, sex and school level was significantly related to healthy diet. Sex was significantly associated with physical activity. Marital status was significantly related to responsibility of health. Conclusions: The results showed that intervention programs for middle and high school teachers targeting health promotion lifestyle are needed. These intervention programs would be effective when sex, age, marital status, and school level are considered. In addition, given that higher self-efficacy was related to higher health promotion lifestyle scores, it strengthens the need for further investigations aimed at how to change self-efficacy in teachers.

Purpose: This study is to investigate teachers' perception about bullying and education for bullying prevention. Methods: The subjects were 196 teachers who worked middle or high school in Seoul and Kyonggi province in 2008. We used self-administered questionnaires for bullying assessment that modified by the investigator. Chi-square and ANOVA test were performed to analyze the perception and education for bullying prevention. Results: The perception about bullying and education for bullying prevention of the teachers was examined in three domains; the perception about bullying's situation, cause, and solution. Teachers did not perceive bullying seriously but perceived that the main cause of bullying is personal characteristics. They recognized the solution of bullying is a responsibility for students, parent, teachers and society. The performance rate of education for bullying prevention was higher among teachers who perceived bullying seriously than the others. Conclusion: The teachers could recognize origin of bullying between students and also could solve this origin. So, teachers' role is very important than everything else to prevent bullying. Various education programs for bullying prevention should be developed.
