Purpose: The purpose of the study was to verify the degree of smoking behaviors including conventional cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and dual use of conventional and electronic cigarettes among adolescents, and to explore associated intrapersonal and interpersonal factors of the three smoking behavior groups. Methods: The secondary data analysis was performed using the 17th 2021 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey. The types of smoking behaviors were grouped into conventional cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and dual use for data analysis. Descriptive statistics and a x2 test were performed. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify factors associated with of the three smoking behavior groups. Results: Among the 54,848 adolescents, 3.6%, 1.2% and 6.2% were involved in conventional cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and the dual use, respectively. The factors associated with the three types of smoking behaviors were depression, suicidal ideation, having a smoking mother, having smoking brothers or sisters, and having smoking friends. Recovery from fatigue by sleep was associated with the dual use of conventional and electronic cigarettes. Anxiety was associated with conventional cigarettes. Having a smoking father was associated with conventional cigarettes and dual use. Conclusion: A significant number of adolescents were involved in not only the use of conventional or electronic cigarettes, but also dual use of them. Adolescents who had depression, suicidal ideation, having a smoking friend, and having a smoking family member were more likely to be involved in the three types of smoking behaviors. Customized interventions to decrease smoking should be developed considering intrapersonal factors as well as interpersonal factors.
초등학교 교직원의 COVID-19 감염예방행위 실천에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 직종과 COVID-19 관련 지식을 중심으로

Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors affecting COVID-19 infection prevention behaviors among teachers and administrative staff of elementary schools. Methods: A total of 204 participants, who were elementary school teachers and administrative staff, completed a pack of self-report questionnaires. The variables were COVID-19 -related knowledge and COVID-19 infection prevention behaviors. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, x2, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: The participants’ COVID-19-related knowledge was 3.67±0.85 and their COVID-19 prevention behaviors were 4.60±0.36. COVID-19 prevention behaviors had a positive relationship (r=.15, p=.031) with COVID-19-related knowledge. Factors affecting COVID-19 prevention behaviors were occupation (administrative staff), age, sex (male), COVID-19-related knowledge, and subjective health (good). Conclusion: It is expected that findings of the study will be used as essential data for developing strategies promoting school health. Considering the results, there is a need to create effective interventions that can increase COVID-19 infection prevention behaviors and COVID-19-related knowledge of teachers and administrative staff of elementary schools.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the problems and improvement areas by reviewing the laws related to kindergarden healthcare workers. Methods: The laws were searched at the Korean law information center (https://www.law.go.kr/). We reviewed the 「Early Childhood Education Act」, 「School Health Act」, 「Medical Service Act」, 「Elementary and Secondary Education Act」and their enforcement decrees and rules. Results: The legal role of health teachers as school healthcare professionals was comprehensively specified by the 「School Health Act. However, the qualifications for and roles of health teachers were not fully described in 「Early Childhood Education Act], indicating a unclear legal basis for the qualifications for and roles of kindergarten health teachers. To support healthcare workers in kindergartens, it is necessary to amend the 「Early Childhood Education Act」 that provides the guidelines for qualifications for kindergarten health teachers in elementary, secondary, and special schools who have completed necessary continuing education. A health hub kindergarten could be a step-by-step option for all kindergartens to have healthcare workers. Conclusion: This review demonstrated the importance of amending the laws on kindergarten health teachers and health hub kindergartens for child health and safety. These findings could be used to support policies related to kindergarten healthcare workers.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to prepare basic data for education and policy proposals related to enhancement of happiness by identifying factors affecting the subjective happiness among Korean adolescents by family type. Methods: The study was a secondary analysis using the raw data of the 16th Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2020). A complex sample multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify factors affecting adolescent happiness by family type. Results: As a result, the factors that commonly affect the subjective happiness of adolescents for all family types were identified as economic status, academic performance, perceived stress, and loneliness. Additional factors that affect the subjective happiness of adolescents of both Korean two-parent and single parent families were sleep and subjective health status. Financial assistance, number of toilets, breakfast, exercise, depression, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempt were also reported for Korean two-parent families. Conclusion: This study provided empirical basic data for enhancing adolescent happiness in consideration of priority targets and family composition characteristics by identifying factors affecting subjective happiness by family type. Adolescent happiness is a factor that should be actively pursued at home, school, and society, and it should be the goal of education for holistic growth of students.

Purpose: The study aimed to examine the effects of disaster nursing simulation training on attitudes toward disaster management, disaster preparedness, learning self-efficacy and nursing practice satisfaction in nursing college students. Methods: The study is based on a one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 95 nursing students were recruited from a nursing college. Disaster nursing simulation training for fire and earthquake situations were provided for 8 hours in one day. Results: There were significant differences in nursing students' attitudes toward disaster management (t=2.20, p=.030), disaster preparedness (t=7.88, p<.001), learning self-efficacy (t=3.69, p<.001), and nursing practice satisfaction (t=5.28, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on our findings, it is necessary to implement disaster nursing simulation training to improve disaster nursing competency of college students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of applying jigsaw cooperative learning to basic nursing practicums on self-directed learning ability, self-efficacy, and learning outcomes. Methods: This study was based on a non-equivalent control group design, and the subjects were nursing students. The study allocated 30 people in the experimental group and 30 people in the control group, and jigsaw cooperative learning was applied to the experimental group for 2 hours every week for a total of 8 weeks. The traditional educational method was applied to the control group. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS v26.0. Results: The experimental group to which jigsaw cooperative learning was applied showed statistically significant differences in self-directed learning ability (F=4.49, p=.038), self-efficacy (F=6.15, p=.016), and learning outcomes (F=19.48, p<.001) compared to the control group. Conclusion: By applying jigsaw cooperative learning to basic nursing practicums, this study confirmed its effect not only on the effective domain such as self-directed learning ability and self-efficacy, but also on learning outcomes in the practical domain. We propose future studies apply jigsaw cooperative learning to various practice classes to achieve learning outcomes that focus on cultivating students' practical capabilities.
청소년 건강행태 온라인 조사를 활용한 코로나19 팬데믹 전후 손씻기 실천율 변화

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify factors related to hand washing practice among adolescents before and after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The study was conducted using data from the 15th~16th (2019~2020) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, and the subjects of the study were 57,303 and 54,948 people who participated in the 2019 and 2020 study, respectively. The data were analyzed with frequency test, rao-scott x2 test and multiple logistic regression analysis using SPSS 27.0. Results: Changes in the hand washing practice rate were observed before and after the COVID-19 pandemic in all five behaviors; before eating in school, after using the toilet in school, before eating at home, after using the toilet at home, and after returning home. The study found that the hand washing practice rate increased by 1.21-2.43 times after the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, as a result of logistic regression analysis, the hand washing practice rate before and after the COVID-19 pandemic was related to gender, region, school grade, school type, economic status, health status, and personal hygiene education experience. Conclusion: This study confirmed the importance of hand washing education to improve the hand washing practice rate in adolescents. It is necessary to develop and apply an effective youth hand washing education program in consideration of various variables that appeared as significant factors influencing the hand washing practice rate before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of the environment on adolescent binge drinking. Methods: The study was designed as a cross-sectional study. Using statistics from the 17th (20201) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, the raw data target population was 2,629,588 people, and the sample group used for analysis as the final data was 54,848 people. A Rao-scott x2 test and univariate multinomial logistic regression analysis were performed using IBM SPSS 27.0. Results: In the results of univariate logistic regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis, common related variables were gender, school level, academic achievement, sleep satisfaction, current smoking, daily smoking, and alcohol education experience. Conclusion: As a result of confirming the factors influencing binge drinking in Korean adolescents, some variables that increase the possibility of problematic drinking behavior in the socio-environmental areas such as individuals, communities, and national policies were identified. For effective prevention and intervention, it is necessary to develop programs to build a healthy environmental support system with support from national policies, including individuals, peer groups, and communities.
학교 환경에 관한 인식이 청소년들의 주관적 행복감에 미치는 영향

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of being aware of the physical and psychosocial environment of the school on subjective feeling of happiness in Korean middle and high school students. Methods: The data of "Health and lifestyle Survey (2019)" conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute were analyzed after receiving approval though the website. A total of 5,311 middle and high school students were included in the analysis. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis were executed using SAS 9.4. Results: The mean score of subjective feeling of happiness was 6.92±0.56 out of 10. From the univariate analysis, the more positive the perception of the physical school environment was, such as classrooms, restrooms, exercise facilities, catering facilities, health facilities, other school facilities and school uniform, the higher the subjective feeling of happiness was (p for all <.001). In addition, the psychosocial environment of the school was significantly related to the happiness of adolescents (p<.001). After controlling for gender, school level, school grade, socio-economic status, and stress, positive perception of classrooms (B=0.04, p<.001), catering facilities (B=0.01, p=.021), health facilities (B=0.08, p<.001), and the psychosocial environment of the school (B=0.18, p<.001) was significantly associated with happiness of the students. Conclusion: Positive perception of the school environment was found to increase happiness in adolescents. Therefore, efforts should be made to make classrooms, catering facilities, and health facilities a pleasant space as well as to create a school atmosphere that values health.
