The Usefulness of Bolus of Radiation Therapy in Patients with Whole Breast Cancer

Radiation Therapy has been used in the treatment of breast cancer for over 80 years. Technically, it should include a part or all of such areas as chest wall or breast, axilla, internam mammary nodes and supraclavicular nodes. The purpose of this study is treated breast cancer patient to use 6 MV, 10 MV with bolus so that we observe changing of skin dose and evaluate those usefulness. Using woman's phantom, after CT simulate scanning, Through RTP system to make treatment plan, select three any place. And then, we measure that dose rate. After moving the phantom to linac, we put for TLD to three point same as RTP system which we put on the phantom. We exposed 6 MV, 10 MV with bolus and without so that it is measured dose by TLD device(4000 Harshaw). As a reult expose 6 MV,10 MV, it differences 10%, 15% according to bolus and withoout bolus where lateral point from RAO, LPO beam, other one is 20% where the furthest from both beams. To use bolus in the hospital is material to include closely part at skin among tissue of breast cancer. Acquired skin dose from RTP system is uncertainity. So it has to test another system likely TLD or other dosimetry system. Also exposed field of breast cancer is included inhomogeneity such as lung, bone and so on. Therefore it has to be accomplished a dose calculating of inhomogeneity part from treatment plan.

The Study of Opportunistic Infection in the Medical Radiation Environment

With the development of medical technologies and the growth of household incomes, most of the people have become to be interested in health as it leads to significant early detection and cure of diseases. However the pattern of disease becomes diverse and it makes the imaging diagnosis department crowded with many patients. Therefore the opportunistic infection could be serious there. The hospital becomes the place which provides high risks of infection danger but it is true that the opportunistic infection of the hospital employees is not still recognized well. The imaging diagnosis department has developed a lot but it becomes the medium of secondary infection of patients and employees. So this study analyzesthe status of bacteria infection of the examination table, the handle of diagnostic equipment and the hands of radiation staffs in imaging diagnosis department of the general hospitals and individual ones. And the result shows that some bacteria were found even though it's little. We are trying to make the hospitals to be free of secondary infection securing safety measure to prevent the secondaryinfection from occurring to patients and hospital employees.

The Lowest Dose for CT Attenuation Correction in PET/CT

PET/CT(Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography) is an examination combining morphological and functional information in one examination. The purpose of this study is to see the lowest CT dose for attenuation correction in the PET/CT maintaining good image quality when considering CT scan dose to the patients. We injected 18F-FDG and water into the cylinder shaped phantom, and obtained emission images for 3 mins and transmission images(140 kVp, 8 sec, 10~200 mA for transmission images), and reconstructed the images to PET/CT images with Iterative method. Data(Maximum, Minimum, Average, Standard Deviation) were obtained by drawing a circular ROI(Region Of Interest) on each sphere in each image set with Image J program. And then described SD according to the CT and PEC/CT images as graphes. Through the graphes, we got the relationships of mA and quality of images. SDs according to CT graph were 16.25 at 10 mA, 7.26 at 50 mA, 5.5 at 100 mA, 4.29 at 150 mA, and 3.83 at 200 mA, i.e. the higer mA, the better image quality was presented. SDs according to PET/CT graph were 1823.2 at 10 mA, 1825.1 at 50 mA, 1828.4 at 100 mA, 1813.8 at 150 mA, and 1811.3 at 200 mA. Calculated SDs at PET/CT images were maintained. This means images quality is maintained having nothing to do with mA of high and low.

This study concerns the present possession of CT and MRI machines in Daegu and the technologists‘ awareness of Quality Control. the study was conducted by visiting forty medical institutions as well as a survey. The survey was carried out by technologists responsible for CT and MRI. CT and MRI machines have only been used in medical institutions in Daegu for a short period. The study revealed that most of them have been acquired by those institutions recently. Most of the technologists who participated in the study are aware of the (prescribed) Quality Control measures and conduct regular inspections in accordance with the quality control chart, however some of them do not.

This is to improve the complicate process of the existing CD copy flow in Department of Radiology. It is also to improve the medical service of the hospital to secure private information of patients. Survey: The patients who ask for CD copies in the Department of Radiology of this hospital(for 6 months in 2010). Time: Comparing the total amount of time of the previous and the modified CD copy flow. Using the SPSS 12.0 program for testing significance of independent two-samples t-test. Private information: Introducing the identification-system based on the medical law to supplement the security of personal information of patients. There was manifold complaints due to receipt and issuing the prescription in Admission and Discharging office and outpatient department. The time has been approximately 50% reduced from 70 mistunes to 32 mistunes due to simplifying the routes. The security of the personal information has been supplemented by let patients submit documentary evidence based on the medical law. The service in the hospital has been improved as a result of simplifying the whole process of the routes and receipt process. Therefore, the each stage of waiting time has been decreased. In addition, the personal information of the patients has been more secured.

This research investigated how low dose radiation affected the quality characteristics of Takju. The treatment group were the quality characteristics of control group, Takju treated by radiation of seperate 4, 7, 10 Gy and sterilized Takju. We measured pH, titratable acidity, alcohol, brix, total viable cell count, Hunter's color values, sensory characteristic. As a result, We discovered there were minute changes in pH, titratable acidity, alcohol, brix, total viable cell count. Likewise, The color appeared changes on separate radiation dose. In the sensory characteristic, People's preference ranked better than average level according to priority Takju treated by 4, 7, 10 radiation. In conclusion, Low dose radiation had little effect on the quality characteristics of Takju. However, Takju received a favorable review by some people In test of taste such as after taste. So We thought, such as preservation, the research using the radiation should be continually conducted.

The purpose of this report is recommending a standard indicator which reflects the radiation exposure that is incident on a detector after every exposure event and that reflects the noise levels present in the image data. The experiment was performed with mobile digital X-ray unit and used a acrylic phantom for exposure index measurement. Exposure modality was kVp, mAs, SID. After every exposure, make a data sheet for characteristic curve of detector response. The equipment performed Mobile digital X-ray unit provide the user with values ralated to the incident exposure(air kerma)to the digital detector. They are showed as a logarithmic function shaped. As a result, DEI means a relative measure of exposure to the detector, as compared to the expected exposure for a particular anatomical view. Radiographic technique is the combination of factors used to exposure an anatomical part to produce a high quality radiography and technique charts used most commonly by radiographers to produce consistently exposure level which patient dose can be kept acceptably low.
