Hospitals these days are trying to introduce the a practice has recently been generalized in the test or diagnosis process, where test results and images from different test labs are interlinked together. This process is identical to that of physical aspect in EMR process, which computerizes the paper results within the hospital. One of the prerequisites for the process of computerizing test results is the interface between clinical test devices in the test labs. However, due to the variety of prescription inputs, disparity of test result papers, complexity of job in test labs and diversity of interfaces among the different devices, interconnection with the hospital information system is a complicated job. A universal control of clinical test devices which have independent communication protocols has become possible by connecting them with an interface workstation. As for the patients, waiting time for test has been reduced, and, thanks to the synchronized result retrieval system, it has become possible to check the test results on the very day of the test. As a result, the length of hospitalization has been reduced, too. In terms of workflow, as the transfer of charts and transfer of result papers are separated, the embarrassing job of collecting result papers has disappeared. As patients, test appointment and the results processing can be made on-line, extra work for doctors have disappeared. And, thanks to the computerization of test results information management, the job of statistical processing has become convenient.

The rapid development in digital acquisition technology in radiography has not been accompanied by information regarding optimum radiolographic technique for use witli an amorphus silicon flat panel detector. The purpose of our study was to compared imaging characteristics and image quality of an amorphus silicon flat panel detectors for digital chest radiography. All examinations were performed by using an amorphus silicon flat panel detector. Chest radiographs of an chest phantom were obtained with peak kilovoltage values of 60 〜 150 kVp. Published data on the effect of x-ray beam energy on imaging characteristics and image quality when using an amorphus silicon flat panel detector. It is important that radiographers are aware of optimum kVp selection for an amorphus silicon flat panel detector system, particularly for the commonly performed chest examination.

A Study on Trouble Management and Necessity for Preventive Check in PACS

PACS has been run at the Kyung Hee University Medical Center since 2001, and the installation and operation of PACS have contributed to automation and quantification of centers medical environment. In order to classify the annual number of trouble cases processed by PACS, the authorshave made a classification code system which enabled detailed statistical processes for each section. Such process method has not only shown the management efficiency to trouble management of PACS, but also raised the interests in frequently occurring troubles, and enabled the prediction of troubles that may occur hereafter. Predictable troubles lead to preventive check, and this has direct effects on medical treatment and the hospital administration. The authors intend to arouse the necessity of preventive check of PACS by analyzing trouble management processes for the last 1 year.

The effects of Asaddition in amorphous selenium(a-Se) films for digital X-ray conversion material have been studied using the moving photocarrier grating (MPG) technique. This method utilizes the moving interference pattern generated by the superposition of the two frequency shifted laser beams for the illumination of the sample. This moving intensity grating induces a short circuit current, jsc in a-Se:As film. The transport parameters of the sample are extracted from the grating-velocity dependent short circuit current induced in the sample alongthe modulation direction. The electron and hole mobility, and recombination lifetime of a-Se films with arsenic(As) additions have been obtained. We have found an increase in hole drift mobility and recombination lifetime, especially when 0.3% As is added into a-Se film, whereas electron mobility decreases with As addition due to the defect density. The transport properties for As doped a-Se films obtained by using MPG technique have been compared with X-ray sensitivity for a-Se'-As device. The fabricated a-Se(0.3% As) device film exhibited the highest X-ray sensitivity out of 5 samples.
