Ubiquitous Web Access: Collaborative Optimization and Dynamic Content Negotiation

Traditionally, cellular wide area networks like UMTS are used as Internet access networks for particular users but, in some cases, they can be employed to provide Internet access to other smaller networks as well. The main inconvenient is that cellular networks have not the same bandwidth than wired networks and therefore, the cellular channel becomes a network bottle-neck. To help to mitigate this situation and in order to improve the user’s experience different optimization techniques exist, especially in web traffic. This paper studies first the existing synergies at HTTP layer between device capabilities expression, content negotiation, channel optimization and content adaptation. And secondly, it presents a system where HTTP requests transmission is optimized, showing a significant improvement in response time by means of HTTP header reduction over the cellular channel. In order to obtain a successful browsing experience, headers should be restored when reaching the Internet. This dynamic header reconstruction allows giving enriched and more expressive information about user’s device and browser capabilities. Thus navigation speed and user’s QoE can be enhanced by means of dynamic content negotiation in order to obtain adapted (and lighter) content and responses from web servers and adaptation proxies alike.
A Novel Technique for Real-Time Internet Radio Recorder on Non-DSP Embedded System

The capability of providing real-time multimedia player over the Internet is an important future application for embedded system. However, the main challenge of such an application is the limitation on computation performance and memory size in architecture of embedded system, especially while encoding and decoding. In this paper, a Streaming Packet Tracer (SPT) algorithm is proposed for real-time tracing the streaming packet header. Based on the SPT algorithm, we present a novel software-based technique which enables a non-DSP embedded system to play and record real-time streaming audio simultaneously. To verify the feasibility of the proposed technique, a real-time Internet radio recorder has been implemented on SBC-2410x embedded system successfully. The experimental results show that our achievement has reduced the CPU usage rate from over 100% to about 30%-40% in comparison with other recording method.
Community based Context-aware Information for the Intelligent Personalized Information Service

With the advent of ubiquitous computing environments, it has become increasingly various context-aware technology implemented. It is researched; however, rather than providing a simple situations, is not possible following the large scope of context-aware data. Nevertheless, it is possible to effectively manage and categorize information by using the characteristic of professional contextual information, which is inherently limited in scope as it is a professional language. This paper presents the system architecture of community based context-aware management service with the properties, operations, and tasks for context-aware services. We apply the proposed a method to community context information by converting various application terminologies used to provide information services. The implemented content recommendation service, a mobile service agent, and advertisement recommendation for suit one’s taste.

In the article a new threshold signature for dynamic groups without the trusted dealer is presented. The scheme is based on the Boneh, Lynn and Shacham short signature from the Weil pairing. The scheme provides an efficient solution especially for the family of dynamic groups. We prove the security of the scheme in the random oracle model assuming the chosen target CDH problem.

In this paper we propose a new Handwritten Signature Authentication Scheme. The scheme consists of two main Rule Set Algorithms and one Authentication Algorithm. The Algorithms are based on extensive statistical analysis, Mean Variance and Theory of Estimation. This is an extension work of Handwritten Signature Identification. This scheme supports the application environment and we strongly believe that “User Authentication” could be a solid platform for future research and study.

Energy conservation is an important issue in wireless networks. We propose a method for estimating the least amount of energy needed for broadcasting a message to all nodes in the network. The method can work with any reasonable energy mod-els. We prove that this least-energy problem is NP-complete by showing that the maximum-leaf spanning-tree problem is a special case of the least-energy problem.

Information Technology (IT) governance is important in every Enterprise to ensure the execution of the firm's security policies and procedures. It is a subset discipline of Corporate Governance focused on information technology (IT) systems and their performance and risk management. This paper sights current some problems. It also presents the framework for ensuring that the organization’s policies are implemented over time. Since most of these policies require human involvement, the goals are met only if human activities can be influenced and monitored. This is the challenge to IT governance. One issue is to which IT security controls should be centralized or decentralized.

Wireless networking provides many advantages, but it also coupled with new security threats and alters the organization’s overall information security risk profile. Although implementation of technological solutions is the usual respond to wireless security threats and vulnerabilities, wireless security is primarily a management issue. Effective management of the threats associated with wireless technology requires a sound and thorough assessment of risk given the environment and development of a plan to mitigate identified threats. We present a framework to help managers understand and assess the various threats associated with the use of wireless technology. We also discuss a number of available solutions for countering those threats.
