Design of an Effective Learning Evaluation Component in Web-Based Instruction

Taking advantages of the Internet and the widely available Web applications, Web Based Instruction(WBI) has been getting more attention from many researchers regarding the scope and capability for improving learning effectiveness. Reasons of the rapid growth of WBI can be seen from; it promotes distance learning economically, it enables learners to attend clasess at their homes or offices, and it provides delivery medium, content provider and subject matter in one package for the convenience of use. It is apparent that WBI can easily overcome the constraint of time and space more efficiently compared to the traditional learning method. The previous WBI system informed the results of study to students after lectures and tests are given. The uniform test didn't allow the teacher to recognize the student’s evaluation according to the level of the student’s ability and it couldn't be a reason to change a teaching method. This paper discusses how WBI and Component Development Process can be integrated to design the Learning Evaluation(LE) component which assists instructors to choose an appropriate teaching method. The paper illustrates LE component for supporting instructors by demonstrating the test results of pre-test step by step including results of post-test after analyzing the evaluation of the tests. Component Development Process(CDP) is used in designing LE component for WBI.

Image Transmission using Hermite based UWB Communication with Simple Receiver

Use of Ultra-wideband (UWB) for wireless communication in home networking requires cost effective technical solutions with high quality. This paper investigates the performance of simple receiver with zero forcing equalizer in place of rake receiver for hermite based UWB communication. The UWB system with simple receiver is simulated for the application of image transmission over IEEE UWB channels CM1-CM4 modeled for indoor communication. Image to be transmitted is compressed by using JPEG lossless compression. The Double error correcting block code has been used to improve the BER performance of the system. The received image quality is tested using PSNR and its Structural Similarity and Image Quality (SSIM) index.

Querying Relational MPEG-7 Image Database with MPEG Query Format

The growth of multimedia is increasing the need for standards to access and search distributed repositories. Recently, the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) has developed the MPEG Query Format (MPQF) to make multimedia access and search easier and interoperable across search engines and repositories. Since MPQF is not supported by any database products including native XML databases and relational databases, a translation of MPQF to the multimedia database query language is required. This paper presents a system for querying relational MPEG-7 image database with MPQF. A translation of selected query types from MPQF to SQL is proposed based on an especially designed relational schema that preserves typed data of the image descriptions.

Web Performance Analysis of Open Source Server Virtualization Techniques

Server construction using a server virtualization technique has increased due to its advantages including strengthening security, saving storage and costs, and efficient resource utilization. Particularly when the web server has a severe variation of number of users, server virtualization is used. However, constructing a multi-server with virtualization, compared to a single-server, there can be a drop in performance. In this paper we construct several x86_64 servers based on open source server virtualization tools KVM and VirtualBox, and then analyze their performances using open source analyzing tools ab, httperf, and siege. The performance comparison arises in a single server and multi-server construction based on KVM and VirtualBox with a various number of virtual machines. The test result shows that multi-server construction with a virtualization technique can provide an efficient way of multi-server management in a cloud computing environment.

Performance Enhancement of Wireless Datalink Modem using Channel Coding

In this paper the model having D8PSK modulation applied by channel coding of Convolution Turbo Code (CTC) was designed and analyzed to improve the performances of wireless communication system for data link between ground equipment and aircraft. The suggested modem was differential 8PSK modulation system and channel coding of Convolution Turbo Code (CTC) system, and TDMA system was used for transmission. The hardware was embodied for the test and done by using 2 FPGA’s and DSP. The function of FPGA has the one of modulation and demodulation of signal, acquisition and maintaining of TDMA synchronization and generating timing signal. As the test results, it was recognized that the transmission rate can be maintained though the code rate is increased based on 28.8 Kbps and the performance of SNR gets 15dB when BER performance criteria is 10-6. And, it was recognized that the performance of BLER satisfies 10-4 based on BER 10-6. And, it was also recognized that the performance of SNB was improved by 4dB comparing with the case which channel coding was not used from the test results.

Mobile IPv6 has been developed to enable mobility in IP networks for mobile terminals. Mobile IPv6 security standardization is still ongoingand security issues are one of the primary considerations that need to be address. In this paper we proposed a mechanism that if will be adopted;MIPv6 will have a better security. This proposed new security mechanism for Mobile IPv6 which to make the RR method more secure is to use IPSec ESP in tunnel mode between the MN and the HA when sending the messages 1(MN to the CN) and 3 (CoA to the CN) and CGA method should be used in parallel with the RR to provide better security. If these messages are also encrypted in addition to authentication, anyone in the foreign network of the MN cannot break the security of the protocol.

In this paper, we present an experimental analysis of HFE Challenge 2 (144 bit) type systems. We generate scaled versions of the full challenge xing and guessing some unknowns. We use the MXL3 algorithm, an ecient algorithm for computing Grobner basis, to solve these scaled versions. We review the MXL3 strategy and introduce our experimental results.

MF Based Arc Signal detection for SWG linked Wastewater Treatment Plant

This paper dealt with a detection of electric Arc signal by using Matched Filter in wastewater treatment plant of SWG(Smart Water Grid). We proposed one of solutions to prevent fires due to arc signals happened frequently in SWG linked wastewater treatment plant. As an arc signal detection solution in wastewater treatment plant of SWG, we proposed MF(matched filter) based arc signal detection algorithms and certified its availability by various simulation results.
