Design and Embodiment of Web of Things Platform

Enormous efforts to build ubiquitous computing environment are made by connecting smart things, which are gradually increasing in real world, with network. The existing mode to build in the type of proprietary and tightly-coupled systems requires plenty of costs and time. Also, alteration of the already built system’s structure is difficult. This paper proposes the Web of Things (WoT) platform to build ubiquitous computing environment. The proposed WoT platform enables to reduce costs required for building ubiquitous computing environment through the standardization of access to various smart things and control mechanism. The WoT platform also enables non-experts to easily build ubiquitous environment. To verify the effectiveness of the WoT platform, this paper develops a WoT platform prototype and carries out performance evaluation on the functional access to smart things.

Development of Smart Apparatuses, represented by Smart-phone, and development of internet and information & communication technology has changed the pattern of our life. With wireless communication and smart apparatuses, people now can create, share, and consume information at any time and any where. In addition, development of technology has allowed the large-scale data of image, voice, and image to be spreaded and shared, from the existing data consumption pattern of users that was mainly consisted of the text. With this, the quantity of data to be consumed by individual has been geometrically increased. At last, the age of Big Data has been emerged. The big data existing in the life have included a vast information. Now, analysis and utilization of these data in what kind of aspect has been more important. In this study, the status of Big Data have been looked through and the method of its utilization in the global online business field has been suggested.

A reliable requirement model for resource of multimedia collaboration called “RMCS_HNE” was proposed for situation-aware middleware such as home network environment. RMCS_HNE model was used to detect and recover the resource errors for smart multimedia collaboration system among actions in distributed home network environment. An example of situation-aware applications is a smart home network system. A smart home network system for distributed multimedia holds the promise of greatly improving all forms of collecting remote data to show. The model for smart home network system aims at guaranteeing it through application fault tolerance.

This paper proposes a new adaptive error event control model for smart festival management running on situation-awareness environments by analyzing the window and attributes of the object error event. This paper presents the design of the adaptive error event control model for sharing control, which is running on RCSM (Reconfigurable Context Sensitive Middleware) for smart festival management. RCSM provides standardized communication protocols to interoperate an application with others under dynamically changing situations for the smart festival management.

Design of Time Synchronization Protocol based on Master-Slave Topology for Heterogeneous USN

In this paper, we propose a specific time synchronization protocol called MSTSP (Master Slave Time Synchronization Protocol). We designed MSTSP based on the master-slave topology in order to synchronize the time of the heterogeneous sensor nodes. Heterogeneous sensor networks can be used in various risk-associated areas. Time synchronization among the heterogeneous sensor nodes is essential in Ubiquitous Sensor Network systems. In MSTSP, the time-sync master nodes can always be synchronized with the Sink Node of USN, because the sensor nodes which are homogeneous with the Sink Node become time-sync master nodes. And other sensor nodes which differ from the Sink Node must be time-sync slave nodes, which need to belong to one of the specific master nodes. The time-sync master nodes then enable time-sync slave nodes to be synchronized with the sleep periods. The proposed MSTSP is also useful for power saving by maintaining maximum sleep time.
Implementation of Augmented Reality System for Smartphone Advertisements

The recent development and popularization of personal mobile devices has brought a lot of changes into information search and offering. In particular, the newly emerged augmented reality system made possible an innovative way of information acquisition by providing additional information of the virtual world to the real world. This work used the markerless augmented reality system on smartphones to design and implement the smartphone application service aimed at efficiently conveying information on advertisements to users. The conventional advertising applications simply introduce and explain goods by inducing consumers to have an interest, whereas the markerless application service developed in this work interacts with the augmented reality system and database management system to quickly provide more accurate and diversified information to users.
