This paper studied a preference for the type of teaching mathematics from second grade middle school students, mathematics teachers, and parents. From the analysis of survey, we knew that 84.4% of students have no interest in learning mathematics. Also, 75% of students have no confidence in problem solving of mathematics, but they like small-group cooperative learning. They demand various types of teaching methods to increase self-directed learning ability. Teachers prefer traditional teaching methods to a type of teaching for different level students. Almost all of the teachers recognized the importance of teaching for different level students. Parents felt the need of teaching mathematics and they prefer traditional teaching methods, but they also hope to renovate teaching methods to teach for different level students. In conclusion, a small-group cooperative learning method is the most favorable teaching type for students in the current mathematics curriculum system.

In this paper, in order to normalize public education for mathematical essay, we try to find some viewpoints through comparative analysis of several integrated mathematics textbooks in the points of format and contents. The comparative analysis was carried out as follows ; we studied types and characteristics of integrated component factors. We also analyzed share and distribution of problems in integrated text- book, and integrated subjects in real life and different subjects, and then we studied the method of integration. Based on the results of this analysis, we made teaching-learning material for mathematical essay education. This material was consisted of three parts: 'studying concept', 'debate problems', 'mathematical essay'. Also we put 'studying concept' in the beginning of chapter, debate problems in the middle, and 'mathematical essay' in the last part of chapter. In particular, when we made material, firstly we focused on making problems which communication and debate are available. Secondly, we focused on providing students some experience to make mathematical essay problems by themselves.

The main purpose of this study is to analyse the usage and understanding of mathematical terminologies and mathematical symbols in terms of language for the students in the high school, and to provide an effective teaching guidance to enlarge the correct concept of mathematical terminologies and symbols. We choose 121 high-school students in 4 classes. After the application of activity papers and questionnaire, we analyze the answers about their usage and understanding about mathematical terminologies and mathematical symbols. The abstractness and concreteness of mathematical terminologies yield the causes of misunderstanding to students. To enlarge the concept of the correct mathematical terminologies and symbols, teachers must prepare historical and real-life-based activities and have careful concern to the students.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the current situations of e-learning in Korea and also compared the differences between e-learning and regular lessons. In addition, the degree of satisfactions of the students were also surveyed. Finally some issues related to e-learning were discussed, and some suggestions were made in detail.

The purpose of the study was to develop mathematics education materials to induce interests in mathematics and to achieve student-centered self-directed learning. Also an attempt was made to investigate the changes in students' attitudes toward mathematics after using the developed learning materials.

The purpose of this study is to find out if the intramural regular test(English reading) performed by a high school measures what it intends to measure. In order to analyze items of the intramural regular test quantitatively, three standards (which are item difficulty, item discrimination, and error attractiveness based on the item response distribution) were used. Test items were classified into proper and improper ones depending on the results of Item Analysis. In addition, some English teachers were asked to answer some questions about the qualities of the test items. Meanwhile, the appropriateness of the intramural regular test was measured, which was based on correlation between the regular test and the national achievement test developed by KERINET. Also, correlation between the two tests was evaluated according to gender(male & female), and students' academic level(high, intermediate & low). In conclusion, the above results identify not only good and desirable items but they also imply some improvements of the improper ones in the intramural regular test.

This study examined the textual transformations performed by 8th grade students synthesizing new text, comparisons, from two texts on interrelated topics. Discussing the research result with respect to research subject, first, there weren't big differences in organizational pattern between able writers and less able writers. Object format, however, was showed by only less able writers. Also, macro-aspect format was presented by only able groups as writers. Second, the symmetrical form of the comparison appeared to influence selecting and generating, as writers tended to use a symmetry principle, preferentially choosing content about one object that had a parallel for the other object. And able writers group made inferences to fill in when parallel information was not offered. Last, able students connected content units previously weren't connected. Also, they used cohesive devices to connect content units naturally.

This thesis aims to study on the description of 'the assassination of Empress Myeongseong' in the Korea and Japan high school history textbook. This incident has been given a lot of research findings by domestic and foreign historical scholars. But it has not been taught properly in schools and this problem make the wrong understanding of history. So, this thesis studied the description of 'the assassination of Empress Myeongseong' in the Korea and Japan high school history textbook. But first I analyze the feature of the two country's textbooks by examining the curricula. Also I have done a comparative analysis from Korean high school textbooks: 『A National History』,『Modern and Contemporary history in Korea』 and Japanese high school textbooks:『The History of japan』A․B. Furthermore, from this study, I suggested the orientation of the description of 'the assassination of Empress Myeongseong'.

The purpose of this study is to research the realities of teaching & learning in an elective, ‘Korean modern and contemporary history’and to find out the ways to improve them. The research questions to teachers and students for this study are given below: First, how is the organization and management of this subject in the current 7th curriculum? Second, how are the realities of teaching & learning of this subject? As a result of this research, several ways to improve the actual conditions will be given as followings. First, the educational infrastructure should be established to guarantee students in freedom to choose a subject. If the school cannot cover all the subjects that students want during the regular school hours, it needs to support students’ learning activities after school. Second, it is necessary to make a instructional systems design suited for the intensive elective. The students should be taught how to make good use of authorized text books containing various learning materials.
