Seventy thousands gifted students begin their gifted program offered by the government every year, however some students could not finish one-year program due to many personal and societal reasons. Therefore an attempt was made to investigate the factors related to this phenomena with five drop -out gifted students and a teacher who was involved in the gifted program. The results of the study suggested that long-term travel, pressure of term projects, students' perfection tendency were the personal factors and transportation inconvenience was a social factor. Most of the students who dropped out the gifted program revealed a tendancy to lose their interests in gifted education in general.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the levels of mathematical language understanding regarding the terminologies and symbols suggested in the section of mathematical series and the limits of the mathematical series. The participants of the study consisted of 112 high school 11th graders those who intended to pursue science majors in college level. The results of research are the followings: 1) there were differences between male and female students in utilizing mathematical terminology and symbols. 2) Both male and female students were more proficient in expressing in symbols than explaining in mathematical language in dealing with mathematical terminologies and symbols. 3) there was no significant differences between two groups in ratios of correct answers, wrong answers, and no answers.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the process of discovering new theories through the 'flow' approach for 11th graders who did not have previous experiences regarding the theorem of Simson and theorem of Longuerre. The participants of the study consisted of 4 high school 11th graders those who categorized as upper 10 percent level academically. The results of research are the following : 1) if the students were given opportunities and allowed enough time to flow some mathematical topics, then they could discover the new theory by themselves. 2)Also, it was difficult for them to flow in case they could not balance between challenge and function among the components of 'flow'. Accordingly it would be important to set up a favorable environment to bond the challenging problems and the high level of mathematical abilities.

The purposes of this study are suggesting mathematical modeling for instructing algebra and introducing the method to apply it to performance assessment. To achieve it, following research contents are established: 1. Propose mathematical modeling materials available in teaching high school algebra, according to the mathematical modeling stages. 2. Propose measures to utilize mathematical modeling for performance assessment. Applying the very mathematical modeling to performance assessment, the followings are expected: 1) Students may have interest, or begin to pay attention on mathematics. 2) The ability to observe and think mathematically in many real-life cases could be fostered and cultivated. 3) This new guideline will be a lot more effective in evaluating high-developed thinking abilities of students, for instance, problem-solving skills, creativity or logical thinking abilities, than existing measures.

This study examined the impact of specification of criteria for writing evaluation on student’s writing. The theoretical underpinnings there is a positive correlation between criteria for writing evaluation and writing achievement support this study. First, I use one-way ANOVA analysis to investigate the difference in writing grades of four group(furnished nothing/general criteria/detailed criteria/specific example marked by criteria), Next, I divided the students into three groups by writing skill and tested their grades in conformity with specification of criteria for writing evaluation. This study say that writng achievement is significantly associated with for degree of sfecification of writing criteria. Three groups have shown the excellent students were unaffected by secification of writing criteria, however, The average students and the poor students were affected by secification of writing criteria.

South Korea has just become a multicultural society. Along with this development, has the number of children of naturalized citizens or multicultural families increased. For these children, the two most important things to do are to help them establish their own identity and to help native children obtain a different understanding of the idea of ‘one pure race.’ Keeping the two goals in mind, this paper examines the ‘descriptions and perceptions of naturalized citizens’ that appear in middle-school history textbook History(I). For this purpose, three kinds of middle-school history textbook published in 2003 were chosen and their contents were divided into three categories : ancient history , the Koryo Dynasty ,and the early year so ft he Chosun Dynasty. By examining their descriptions and perceptions of naturalized citizens, this paper makes an attempt to show how Koreans’ perspective on race changed. It will reveal that Korean history is something achieved not only by the ‘Korean race’ but also with the participate on of minority races an dim migrants, namely naturalized citizens who have been migrating to the Korean Peninsula for along time. Lastly, this paper will suggest specific ways to apply this approach regarding Korean history to textbooks and classrooms. In this multicultural era, history education is at an infant stage. This is why we need to provide examples of naturalized citizens’ contributions to society in the history class. In doing so, we will be able to help them and their children have a sense of belonging to Korean society. Therefore, the writing of future history textbooks should be directed towards overcoming racial prejudices and ‘Korean racial supremacy.’
