Mapping of Real-Time 3D object movement

Tracking of an object in 3D space performed in real-time is a significant task in different domains from autonomous robots to smart vehicles. In traditional methods, specific data acquisition equipments such as radars, lasers etc, are used. Contemporary computer technology development accelerates image processing, and it results in three-dimensional stereo vision to be used for localizing and object tracking in space. This paper describes a system for tracking three dimensional motion of an object using color information in real time. We create stereo images using pair of a simple web camera, raw data of an object positions are collected under realistic noisy conditions .The system has been tested using OpenCV and Matlab and the results of the experiments are presented here.
Optimization Method for Plasmonic Color Filters of High Optical Efficiency

Various studies with regard to increasing the optical efficiency of plasmonic color filters have previously been conducted, such as mixing materials or applying diverse pattern shapes. Fundamentally, it is important to maximize the photonic crystal effect by finding the optimum periods of lattice as well as calculating the most efficient transmission area. In this study, we propose a technical method for optimizing the plasmonic color filters that have a high color gamut and luminance by analyzing the light spectrums based on the 1931 color coordinate system. Moreover, we suggest a calculation method in order to define the individual color purity of red and green and blue filters. Consequently, efficiency values are obtained independently from each color filter by evaluating the color purity and the luminance. The final result obtained from simulation are 27.6% of relative luminance and 25.3% of color gamut. The proposed optimization method is applicable to all plasmonic color filters having photonic crystal arrays.
Diffraction Efficiency Analysis of Silver Halide Film for Color Holography Recording

Holography technology which was developed by Dennis Gabor (1900~1979) in 1948 is a technology to record wave planes of actual 3D objects. It is known as the only technology which can express 3D information most perfectly close to human-friendly. Holography technology is widely used in advertisement, architecture and arts as well as science technology areas. Especially, digital holographic print which is an applied area is greatly used in military map, architecture map and cultural asset restoration by printing and reproducing 3D information. Holography is realized by recording and reproducing the amplitude and phase information on high resolution film using coherent light like laser. Recording materials for digital holographic printer are silver halide, photoresist and photopolymer. Because the materials have different diffraction efficiency according to film characteristics of each manufacturer, appropriate guide lines should be suggested through efficiency analysis of each film. This paper suggests appropriate guide lines through the diffraction efficiency measurement of silver halide which is a holographic printer recording medium. And the objective of this study is to suggest appropriate guide lines through diffraction efficiency analysis of Ultimate 08-C and PFG-03C which are commercially used. The experiment was prepared by self-diffraction efficiency system which measures the strength with the defector by penetrating RGB recording medium and concentrating diffracted beams through collimating lens. The experiment showed Geola's PFG-03C which is a silver halide for full color has price/performance advantage in optical hologram recording, but recording angles and reproduction angles are irregular for digital holographic printer recording. Ultimate's Ultimate08-C for full color shows its diffraction efficiency is relatively stable and high according to recording angles and laser wavelength.

Thin film electronic devices which brought the current mobile environment could be fabricated only under the high quality vacuum conditions provided by high vacuum systems. Especially for the development of advanced thin film devices, constant high quality vacuum as the deposition pressure is definitely needed. For this purpose, the variable conductance throttle valves were employed to the high vacuum system. In this study, the effects of throttle valve applications on vacuum characteristics were simulated to obtain the optimum design modelling of variable conductance of high vacuum system. Commercial simulator of vacuum system, VacSim(multi), was used on this investigation. Reliability of employed simulator was verified by the simulation of the commercially available models of high vacuum system. Simulated vacuum characteristics of the proposed modelling were agreed with the observed experimental behaviour of real systems. Pressure limit valve and normally on-off control valve were schematized as the modelling of throttle valve for the constant process-pressure of below 10-3 torr. Simulation results were plotted as pump down curve of chamber, variable valve conductance and conductance logic of throttle valve. Simulated behaviors showed the applications of throttle valve sustained the process-pressure constantly, stably, and reliably.

In Korea, new total energy-saving solution has planned to build test-bed in underground subway station. Breaking energy is one of the most energy saving method in railway, but it has not be fully used up for economical purpose. This paper demonstrates on energy saving technology application including breaking energy and heating energy to underground subway station. It also offer solution of optimization of power energy flow. Moreover, economic feasibility analysis performed for undergound test bed constuction.
Fear and Surprise Facial Recognition Algorithm for Dangerous Situation Recognition

This paper proposes an algorithm for risk situation recognition using facial expression. The proposed method recognitions the surprise and fear expression among human’s various emotional expression for recognizing dangerous situation. The proposed method firstly extracts the facial region using Harr-like technique from input, detects eye region and lip region from the extracted face. And then, the method applies Uniform LBP to each region, detects facial expression, and recognizes dangerous situation. The proposed method is evaluated for MUCT database image and web cam input. The proposed method produces good results of facial expression and discriminates dangerous situation well and the average recognition rate is 91.05%.

Although the development of digital technology and network has brought great convenience in modern lives, amongst the aggravated complexity in the contemporary society, modern minds who have failed to create genuine relationships undergo a sense of alienation and solitude that may appear as a type of social pathology called cellular-phone addiction. Also, while the emergence of the information age seemingly brings about benefits including diverse acquisition regarding knowledge and broader communication, underneath exists side effects involving leakage of private information. Especially, being excessively addicted to relationship network may induce one to become insensitive towards leakage of private information without recognizing, and thereby instigating yet another social problem. Media art is very practical in terms of suggesting a critical perspective concerning social phenomena and elevating them into a work of art by rendering them artistically. Particularly, when social problems of the modern days are expressed through digital technology, media art provides the audience with a foundation that will enable them to sympathize without hostility. This dissertation calls attention to the contemporary problems regarding cellular-phone addiction and possible hazards of information leakage based on media art, while at the same time proposing the production process of a media art work that attempts to raise awareness and sympathy on such social issues.
A Study on Touchless Panel based Interactive Contents Service using IrDA Matrix

Touch panel is mainly applied to pressure type touch panel but it occur a low recognition rate and error during long-term use. So, it is partly applied to capacitive touch panel to compensate for these problems but it also can occur a same problems via pollutions. Touch technology has developed a various method but it is not used because of high costs and difficult installation process. So, in this paper, we proposed an input method of touchless panel using IrDA matrix. This method is conducted using an IrDA Matrix composed of depth sensor. It is possible to offer a various contents for multi user. The proposed technology need a development of a high sensitivity sensing method and high-speed processing method of position information for Seamless operation control. And, it is required high-precision drive technology. Also, we proposed a Seamless user recognition for interactive contents service through a touchless panel using IrDA matrix.

The Response to Intervention(RTI) approaches is the method to help students who are at risk for learning difficulties in advance and provide an appropriate level of intervention. In this article, the characteristics of model RTI were reviewed for students with achievement of below basic proficiency level. We considered RTI as supporting system to document students’ progress and its applicability for the general educational setting in Korean school. The tier of RTI make it possible the evidence based individual instruction and counseling, differentiated step-by step approach for students with achievement of below basic proficiency level. In conclusion, RTI can be used as educational tools for dealing with improvement of academic subjects learning, behavioral and emotional problem for students with achievement of below basic proficiency level. For building high quality implementing for RTI it is needed the collaboration of teachers, counselors and learning consultants and related educators.
A Study for the design of a Mobile Medical Care System M-LIMS

About 30% of Mongolian population is populated in the capital of the nation. Too many hospitals are concentrated in size as compared to the capital. This creates a difficult environment to provide equal distribution of medical benefit. In order to resolve this issue of medical benefit inequality, a portable/travelling medical treatment system using ‘M-LIMS’ is proposed for real-life application. The system with M-LIMS to be designed will include functions such as composing, sharing charts among doctors, standardizing charts. M-LIMS will be designed considering Mongol’s regional characteristics, and application plans will be proposed accordingly.

This paper describes IEC 61727 standard of Photovoltaic (PV) systems -Characteristics of the utility interface. IEC 61727 standard tests include utility compatibility and personnel safety and equipment protection of PV inverter performance functions. Especially utility compatibility part includes test items of 1) voltage, current and frequency, 2) normal voltage operating range, 3) flicker, 4) DC injection, 5) normal frequency operating range, 6) harmonics and 7) waveform distortion, 8) power factor of PV inverter. Also personnel safety and equipment protection part includes test items 1)loss of utility voltage, 2)over/under voltage and frequency, 3)Islanding protection, 4)response to utility recovery, 5)earthing, 6)short circuit protection, 7)Isolation and switching of PV inverter. In this paper, each item of IEC 61727 standard test is studied and analyzed and finally full tested by PV inverter performance function.

Fischer Tropsch reaction is one of the interesting topic for renewable and clean energy. Polymerization of carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide with hydrogen over metal supported catalyst can produce long chain hydrocarbons. Synthetic liquid hydrocarbons are promising alternative to fossil fuels. This research work has been focused on the synthesis of Fe based catalyst for Fischer Tropsch reaction. Mesoporous silica (MS) support prepared by a precipitation method using two different washing solution, distilled water (DW) and acid in ethanol solution (ET), and different calcination temperature. Then, Fe/MS was prepared by an incipient wetness impregnation method. All of samples were systematically characterized using various physical and chemical techniques. TEM and XRD analysis were used to ensure that the cubic Ia3d mesostructure is stable after calcination. FTIR spectra are useful to ascertain the existence of template in the support. TPR studies were also used to understand the nature of Fe species and their reducibility. The results reveal that washing the support with distilled water and calcination at 550 can efficiently remove the triblock copolymer templates. The existence of template in the support affects the textural properties of all catalyst investigated.
Variable Suspension Design for Active Pantograph

There are a lot of traffic jams in the metropolitan area and the commuting time has been longer nowadays. So the urban people has been interested in the GTX(Great Train Express) project in Korea. The GTX is the train which runs at 200km/h speed in underground tunnels. If the train also operates at high speed in tunnel section, the pressure wave will happen and the uplift force of pantograph may vary abruptly. If the rigid trolley bar system is used in tunnel section, it is difficult to improve the commercial speed of train. In order to improve the train speed in tunnel section, this paper presents the new pantograph concepts which can change the suspension stiffness and deals with the dynamic behavior characteristics of pantograph according to the parameter variation.
A Study on the Trolley Sliding Condition Inspection System

The Korean electric railway is growing rapidly such as speed of 300km/h in high speed section and 230km/h in the conventional railway section. But, power supply failure occurs because of loss of contact, defective catenary system and high speed vehicle. Therefore preventive maintenance way based reliability has been applied. Typical example is the facility inspection method using trolley inspection system. But it is required differentiated inspection method to prevent problem such as inspection errors. In this paper, a study on the trolley sliding condition inspection system using monitoring techniques is performed for performance enhancement of inspection system. It proposed the efficient maintenance method through monitoring the deviation and height of contact wire after installing inspection system on the top of train which operates in the metropolitan area. Inspection errors were decreased by virtually monitoring the video of faulty facilities. Also those facilities were identified through the impact sound analysis and tests at the main catenary section.
A Study on Development of Maintenance Skill Training Simulator for Railway Vehicle

Generally, in the railway vehicle the driving force of gravity happens by the high-speed running and the repetitive impulse cause the degradation and the malfunction phenomenon shows differently because the durability of each component changes according to the internal and external causes. The maintenance of propulsion control device which is played the very important role as to the stable service of the railway vehicle is greatly important among them. Therefore maintenance training propulsion control device simulator is needed to maximize learning through repetition and improve the maintenance practical skills training. This paper designed the railway vehicle running device with a miniature for the railway vehicle maintenance training and developed a propulsion control device simulator equipped the imitation steering wheel.

Our research team proposed a flux-offset type fault current limiter as a new limiter. The flux-offset type fault current limiter uses a fault current limit technology based on the flux offset principle of the primary and secondary windings of a transformer. Stable fault current limit characteristics were achieved through a preliminary study. However, it was discovered that the initial fault current was not limited. Therefore, in this paper, a high-speed interrupter and a superconducting element were separately applied to the secondary winding of the flux-offset type fault current limiter and the operating characteristics were comparatively analyzed. In the experiment, when the superconducting element was applied to the secondary winding of the transformer, the initial fault current was limited while the limitation in the operation time was further shortened.

This paper proposes an efficient method to detect direction indicators on road surfaces to support drivers in driving safely using the Simulink model. In the proposed method, the ROIs are detected using the detection method of maximally stable extremal regions (MSER), and the road indicator regions are detected using the speeded up robust features (SURF) matching method for the corresponding point matching of the detected ROIs and the road indicator templates. Experiments on various road satiations show that the processing time of about 0.32 sec per frame was required, and a detection rate of 91% was achieved.
A Study on Compatibility between LTE and WLAN System for Mobile Satellite Wireless Package System

In this paper, we analyzed the adjacent channel interference of the LTE band 40 defined by 3GPP on the WLAN system based on the Monte-Carlo method, and found the guard band required for compatibility between the two systems. This study have a difference compared to the previous studies about cell radius was determined using Extended Hata Model considering practical environment, interference protection distance related to guard band, and the spectrum emission mask improvement effect for minimizing the interference. Simulation results, for no channel interference compatibility of LTE and WLAN for mobile satellite wireless package system, we can find the need 15MHz guard band at specified spectrum emission mask and 10MHz guard band at assumed spectrum emission mask.

The purposes of this study were to measure university academic achievement based on gender. We analyzed university academic achievement based on gender. The subjects for this analysis were 322 students from freshmen to seniors who received grades in their first semester in the computer engineering department at a university located in the Chungcheong area. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, the average university academic achievement was 3.01. Second, the university academic achievement of female students was higher than that of male students in the entire curriculum, liberal arts, and major subjects. Students showed higher academic achievement when their grades rose. Male students showed higher rate of rise when their grades rose compared to female students. This paper proposes that it is necessary to develop programs to further adaption to university life for males. Since male students showed significantly lower university academic achievement, various programs like counseling and mentoring are needed.
Variation of Cannonical Sentence Structure in Korean & Japanese Dialects & its Implication

The main purpose of this squib is to provide a new principled account for variation of canonical sentence structure in Korean and Japanese based on the linguistic data commonly observed in some dialects of Korean and Japanese. Unlike the English case in which Comp(lementizer) such as „that‟ in an embedded clause freely drops as far as the ECP (Lasnik & Saito 1992)[1] is obeyed, some dialects of both Korean and Japanese show interesting linguistic data very different from those of English, thereby leading us to reasonably doubt the traditionally-accepted paradigm of the canonical sentence structure of CP for all languages. In this squib I propose, based on Korean & Japanese dialects and by developing the Minimal Structure Principle (MSP) (Bošković 1997, p. 25)[2], that the cannonical structure of a sentence is not fixed, from the beginning at all, to be one single maximal category, CP. Instead, it should be decided to be either CP or IP, based on the feature of [±markedness] and MSP, and the marked (or non-cannonical) embedded sentence needs to satisfy ECP for adjacency (or feature-licensing by the matrix verb in the MP terminology).

Biometric techniques for authentication using body parts such as a fingerprint, face, iris, voice, finger-vein and also photoplethysmography have become increasingly important in the personal security field, including door access control, finance security, electronic passport, and mobile device. Finger-vein images are now used to human identification, however, difficulties in recognizing finger-vein images are caused by capturing under various conditions, such as different temperatures and illumination, and noise in the acquisition camera. The human photoplethysmography is also important signal for human identification. In this paper To increase the recognition rate, we develop camera based identification method by combining finger vein image and photoplethysmography signal. We use a compact CMOS camera with a penetrating infrared LED light source to acquire images of finger vein and photoplethysmography signal. In addition, we suggest a simple pattern matching method to reduce the calculation time for embedded environments. The experimental results show that our simple system has good results in terms of speed and accuracy for personal identification compared to the result of only finger vein images.
To develop the classification method of Agricultural by-productions for biogas production

The objective of this study was to develop the classification method of various organic wastes. Specifically, the effects of proximate composition on the biogas production and degradation rates of agricultural by-production was investigated and a new standards for mixture of various organic wastes based on proximate composition combination was developed. Agricultural by-products (ABPs) with medium total carbohydrate, medium crude protein and low fat contents demonstrated the single step digestion process. ABPs with low total carbohydrate, high crude protein and high fat contents demonstrated the two step digestion process of Diauxic growth. The single ABP (Class No. 15) and the mixed ABPs (Class No. 12+18, 6+12+22, 9+12+18) after 10days showed the similar biogas yield pattern. We can use the classification method for the more ABPs and organic wastes from factory and municipal waste treatment plant for the high efficient biogas production.

The performance of high power LEDs highly depends on the junction temperature. Operating at high junction temperature causes elevation of the overall thermal resistance which causes degradation of light intensity and lifetime. Thus, appropriate thermal management is critical for LED packaging. The main goal of this research is to improve thermal resistance by optimizing and comparing nano-pore silicon-based thermal substrate to insulated metal substrate and direct bonded copper thermal substrate. The thermal resistance of the packages are evaluated using computation fluid dynamic approach for 1 W single chip LED module.
Balanced bitrate control of multiple videos in transcoding for multi-view service

In this paper, a balanced bitrate control in transcoding process based on video complexity measure for multi-view system which simultaneously shows multiple channels or video contents in single screen, is proposed. In order to consider the total quality of multiple video streams, the proposed algorithm reduces the complexity of multiple video stream and video quality differences at the same time by controlling bitrates of each stream by weighting when they are stitched for single screen. For the measure of complexity and quality differences between video streams, two different data: histogram of macroblock type and bitrate for each stream are used. The experimental result indicates that proposed algorithm decreases fluctuation of quality difference between videos in the multi-view system.
