Development of computing environments and mobile devices lead to rapid growth of smart device, mobile OS and application market. Especially, the mobile platform sector with major runners of Apple and Google, compose the core technology for mobile applications. iOS and Android represent mobile platforms each supporting individual execution environment, development tools and development methodology. Applications and contents developed in each platform inevitably have exclusive properties in the other platforms. Therefore, generally it is not possible to execute a mobile application on a different platform. In order to provide service to multiple platforms by portability, additional costs and development period is required. Particularly, the lifespan and development duration of mobile applications are becoming shorter at this point in time. Therefore, fast development and deployment is required and has been standing out as a weakness. Smart Cross Platform is a virtual machine based solution developed to resolve this weakness. In this paper, Smart Cross Platform's content execution component, Smart Virtual Machine based on an independent neutral language was designed and implemented to be run in iOS. In the Smart Virtual Machine, the programmer can make a program not being restricted to the development language of a particular platform environment, making it is easier to port previous contents or provide service of a single program to multiple platforms.

One of the most important problems in the wireless sensor networks is the detection of events in a certain area (target area). This challenge is an important case in the wireless sensor network research and it is named the coverage problem. Regarding the sensors redundancy, we can improve the network lifetime by activating enough number of nodes and making the others sleep. Also, proposing a method that uses the nodes energy equally can prolong the network lifetime. In this paper, we propose a new Energy Based Coverage Method (EBCM). The proposed method decreases the energy consumption and prolongs the network lifetime. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated using NS2 simulator.

Mobile ad-hoc network(MANET) is a self-organized network over infraless structured radio links. And hybrid mobile ad-hoc network(HYMANET) is a network which is combined with infra(AP) and MANET. In these networks, one of the most critical problems is the deficient network resource for receiving multimedia streams. The other problem is that overlay connection tree shuts down frequently following mobile node(MN)s’ movement. For solving these problems, this paper generates multi-paths overlay multicast connection tree using multiple parent-child relationships according to the number of hops towards AP(access point) in hybrid ad-hoc network. The proposed method can be used as service for live-video such as news, sports broadcasting image and movies in HYMANET. And this paper can minimize redundant multimedia streams that could appear when supporting multimedia service using multicast.

In WBAN environment, it is important to achieve energy efficiency of nodes implanting into human body. At the same time, a master also plays an important role in collecting data from nodes and controlling the nodes. By maintaining a master properly, any kinds of situation can be handled. Therefore, low power MAC protocol between a master and a node is highly required appropriately. A MAC protocol proposed in this paper aims to satisfy with these requirements and improve energy consumption rate that tends to grow high as the number of nodes increases. For the efficient and objective evaluation of the proposed MAC protocol, IEEE 802.15.6 MAC is used to compare with it and we show that the advantage of the proposed MAC meet our expectation.

The user interface design of smart phone is often too simple in logic that the taxonomy of tasks frequently performed is the only basis and the UI allow the user to add their favorite Apps as they want. However, with too many Apps available for smart phone users but not many of them are used frequently, the convenience of smart phone usage can and should be developed not just by the predefined functions but to maximize its UI usefulness from user's activity analysis. In this paper, we propose an intelligent method using BAM network to minimize searching for the frequently asked Apps by recognizing and learning user's signal to execute them. This is a form of activity-centered design to maximize user's convenience in user interface of a smart phone.

The energy industry has several industry group such as nuclear, thermal, hydro, gas, electricity. There are evident the common ground and differences among nuclear, thermal, hydro, gas, electricity. The common grounds of them are originated in energy industry group and the differences are divided from each energy control system. At the present, the issue is not there are many papers indicated each characteristic of nuclear, thermal, hydro, gas, electricity but there isn't paper indicated common ground as a single energy industry. The other issue is that the analysis data used to evaluate and analyze in such papers was not the specialized data but the general IT data. Not considering the difference between general IT environment and environment of the energy group probably bring out the distortion in the analysis data. This paper solved the problems previously indicated and presented the common ground as the energy industry and prove them through statistical analysis. To put it concretely, this paper will present the sub domains that the whole energy industry groups always carry out and prove them through statistical analysis. The result of this paper is expected to be important data available reference to being planned and managed the policy applicable to the whole energy group by the policy maker.

In this study, an artificial neural networks study was carried out to predict the quantity of ammonia gas (NH3) of Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) cement mortar. A data set of a laboratory work, in which a total of 4 mortars were produced, was utilized in the Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) study. The mortar mixture parameters were four different GBFS ratios (0%, 20%, 40% and 60%). Measurement ammonia of moist cured specimens were measured at 1, 3, 10, 30, 100, 365 days. ANN model is constructed, trained and tested using these data. The data used in the ANN model are arranged in a format of two input parameters that cover the cement, GBFS and age of samples and, an output parameter which is concentrations of ammonia emission of mortar. The results showed that ANN can be an alternative approach for the predicting the ammonia concentration of GBFS mortar using mortar ingredients as input parameters.

Various smart artifacts that embed computers and sensors have been developed. Some of these artifacts include extra hardware components to enhance their functionalities, but the components are always real, not virtual. Ubiquitous computing technologies for introducing virtuality offer the possibility of adding virtual components to physical artifacts, but this possibility has not been sufficiently exploited in previous research. In this paper, we present the Augmented Trading Card Game (Augmented TCG) as a case study for enhancing physical artifacts by integrating virtuality. Augmented TCG monitors the opponent’s movement using MS Kinect and maps them onto a virtual character representing the opponent rather than directly displaying the real opponent’s actions. An image of the opponent’s card is also projected onto the table in front of the player. Thus, the player feels as if he/she is playing face-to-face with the opponent. Moreover virtuality allows more information to be displayed during game play. We conducted several experiments to examine how players feel while playing a game,, and we present Augmented TCG experiences as a case study in integrating virtuality into physical artifacts.

The Acquisition of the Thematic Roles of the English Verb Open by College Students

The main purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the acquisition of the English verb open and its thematic roles in L2 English by Korean learners. First, the Korean learners in the study did not give support to the subject hierarchies of Larson (1988), Grimshaw (1990), Dowty (1991), and Saeed (2009) and exhibited the following order in the experiment of the thematic roles of open and yelta 'open': Agent > Goal > Instrument. We have contended that the learners’ subject hierarchy (agent > goal > instrument) should be represented in the core grammar since it comes from the learners’ cognition and it is supported by the synchronic computational system (the British National Corpus). Second, the results of our experiment clearly illustrate the fact that the Korean learners do entertain the hypothesis that learners look for similarities whenever they can find them, but they do not respect Chomsky's UG theory since the acquisition of English thematic roles by the Korean learners takes place through positive transfer and negative transfer of their native thematic roles. Third, we have argued in this paper that when all three thematic roles (agent, instrument, and goal) appear within a sentence, the Korean learners judged the order of English thematic roles in accordance with their L1, namely transfer, since the orders of the three thematic roles that the English verb open allows are a subset of the orders that the Korean verb yelta 'open' allows (the Superset Principle). Additionally, we have claimed that our subject hierarchy captures the order of acquisition of subject functions and reflects the degree of markedness which correlates with the order of acquisition. Finally, we have maintained that agent subjects and goal subjects are absolutely universal subject functions which are governed by UG, whereas instrument subjects are subject functions that lie outside UG.

This research measures the overall acoustic properties of spring and winter, and their difference is investigated from the perspective of environmental change. Forest in winter is very calm with occasional sound of birds and is devoid of insect sounds. The frequency components of winter forests are shifted towards the lower frequencies however, unique sounds caused by walking on snow compensates for this. Spring forests gives off a sense of gradually increasing vitality moving away from the calm of winter. Especially, as both the variety of bird species that cry and the frequency of those cries are increased significantly in the spring, the ratio of middle to high tone energies of the sound was about three times that of the 10% measured during winter. In all environments volume was louder than winter.

Efficient cooling methods are necessary when living in a tropical climate where high temperatures and high humidity are normal. Air-conditioning units, which are expensive to run and maintain are standard in a majority of houses in Australia's tropic zone due to the design of both historic and modern housing not being fully suited to a tropical region. Significantly, the cost of energy consumption continues to increase. There are simple and inexpensive modifications a homeowner can do to naturally cool the house and preserve energy, such as, painting roofs white, planting screening vegetation and installing shades externally to cover windows, etc. However, many of these alternative techniques are not common knowledge and are not presented to the public in ways that can inform and potentially change behaviour. This paper presents a housing simulation prototype that applies gamification methods to build awareness on ways to reduce cooling power consumption. An interactive guided persuasion methodology is used to educate homeowners about these alternative techniques so they may choose natural cooling methods instead of relying on electrical cooling appliances. The results of the user testing show the simulation design did encourage awareness and motivation to make tangible adaptations to homes.

Second-hand housing market is the barometer of the real estate market since the buyers of second-hand houses usually are those who really want to live, whereas financial investment and speculation are not their goals. So the price and determinants of second-hand houses reflect the real demand of housing market. In this paper KNN related algorithms are applied to study the problems associated with price of second-hand house. It includes using KNN and weighted-KNN algorithms to predict the price, using cross validation method to compute average deviation of prediction algorithm and compare KNN’s prediction effect with weighted-KNN’s, and using stimulated annealing optimization algorithm to compute the weight values of house attributes and evaluate the relative importances of them. Through the analysis of attribute importance it can show the influences of different house attributes on house price and the main concerns of buyers. All these results can give valuable information for manages, decision makers and appraisers of real estate.

To achieve efficient search performance for the multi-robot system which carries out the goal search task with consideration of timeliness, a multi-robot collaborative path planning system is designed to guide the robots during the search process. In the system, a planning method based on an Improved Ant Colony Optimization (IACO) algorithm is proposed. In the solution procedure, the path cost and goal timeliness are taken as two optimization goals. Compared to the traditional optimization algorithm, the IACO algorithm has global superiority which brings about better solution. Experiment results show that all robots accomplish the search task safely and efficiently by collaborative work using the proposed approach.
