In this paper, we address the critical issues raised inmobile ECG monitoring and propose new solutions to resolve respective problem. A chest-belt type two-electrode wireless ECG measurement system and the specific android ECG monitoring application are presented. Furthermore, we also propose optimum filter-set for motion artifact removal in ECG recording. Average R-peak detection success rate is seen to be improved from 71.8% up to 97.4% after deploying the optimum filter-set coefficient. Besides that, we also suggest a simple and reliable arrhythmia ECG detection algorithm. The algorithm is proved with a promising accuracy of 95.4% in detecting arrhythmia ECG pattern. Lastly, a real time experiment is presented to demonstrate mobile ECG monitoring using a 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab.

Structural health monitoring (SHM) is the science of assessing the integrity of structures such as buildings, bridges and aerospace structures. SHM systems strive to detect and locate damage in structures as early as possible. Today most automated SHM system has been suggested that wireless sensing can potentially bring about a dramatic reduction in cost by doing away with the cabling cost. Self-organizing dense wireless sensor networks that are cheap and easy to install can potentially bring significant benefits to SHM systems. This paper introduces a wireless sensor network system based SHM, the system includes the self-developed sensor node for SHM and the artificial intelligence routing for data transmission. Using offline processing and online processing methods in artificial intelligence routing, it can discovery backbone for wireless sensor networks with low average dissipated energy and average delay.

The nodes in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are usually powered by batteries with finite capacity and one design challenge in sensor networks is to save limited energy resources to prolong the network lifetime. Moreover, the definition of Quality of Service (QoS) and the metrics to evaluate the performance of a wireless sensor network are different from traditional networks. There are different Metrics for quality of service in wireless sensor networks and most of them are application-dependent. One of the most important of them is the number of active nodes. Regarding the sensors redundancy, we can improve the network lifetime by activating enough number of nodes and making the others sleep. Also, proposing a method that uses the nodes energy equally can prolong the network lifetime. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient scheduling method called Energy Signal Scheduling (ESS). Then, we present QoS-aware Energy Signal Scheduling (QoS-ESS). The QoS-ESS method improves ESS by dividing the sensor network to some clusters and applying the ESS for each cluster separately. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated using NS2 simulator. We have simulated our proposed method and compared its functionality to some other methods. Simulation results show high efficiency of the proposed method.

As touch-screen mobile phones pour into the market, demands for reusing existing mobile applications by adding a touch-screen UI are increasing. In order to service an existing application without a touch-screen UI to touch phones, an on-screen keyboard that implements a virtual keyboard on the touch screen is needed. On-screen keyboards are particularly convenient to use on small mobile phone screens because they reduce the number of keys and consequently increase the size of each. Previous on-screen keyboard generation methods generate fixed keyboard layouts that include every key defined by a system, resulting in smaller and inconvenient keys. Further, the recently studied dynamic analysis method analyzes keys used in source codes during run-time to generate on-screen keyboards optimized for applications but it generates too much overhead to control. In this study, we proposed the touch-screen UI generating technique based on content's source code by static analysis. To generate the UI automatically, we adopt the notion of key set graphs that store the UI status information of applications to identify UI states by referencing the graphs and generating optimized on-screen keyboards. This method uses effective graph data structures to effectively circumvent the overhead issues featured in the dynamic analysis method.

Wireless Network Systems are usually deployed in hostile environments where they en- countered a wide variety of malicious attacks. A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wire- less network composed of a large number of sensor nodes. In WSNs the scarcest resource is energy which includes low power, less storage space, low computation ability and short communication range. For this reason, algorithmic research in WSN mostly focuses on the study and design of energy aware algorithms for data computation. This problem becomes harder in the case of security, as most of the security algorithms are quite heavy. Although symmetric cryptography may be one of the approaches to solve the problem due to their small computation requirement. In order to further reduce the computational cost of any protocol for WSN, Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) has been attractive to the researcher due to its smaller key size and its high strength of security. Scalar multiplication is most important cryptographic operation in elliptical curve cryptography. This paper proposes the e±cient scalar multiplication algorithms for WSNs which are resistant of side channel at- tack.

In the existing smart devices, the contents for each platform there are a unique development environment, and thus are developed in a suitable method and the development of language is also different. These issues cause additional costs when developing the contents on various target platforms it is impossible to make the contents compatible on the various devices or platforms. Proposed The Smart Virtual Machine (SVM) based on the language independent intermediate language is a newly developed virtual machine solution which is aimed towards solving these problems. It uses an intermediate language, the Smart Intermediate Language (SIL), which can cover the object oriented languages such as C++, Java, Objective C and more. In this paper, we deal with a virtual machine, SVM, based on stack and capable of being run on various smart devices. SVM receives a SIL code which is semantically equivalent to a program created with different languages and interprets it based on stack on a software level. Then it runs the programs so that specific smart device operation systems and devices can load them and therefore have the advantage of being platform independent.

Dempster-Shafer Evidence Theory(DST) enables multi-sensor data fusion, which makes it possible to infer the context. In this paper, we propose about how to use multi-sensor data fusion to infer context in the dynamic circumstances. Dynamic circumstance means a changing of the situation or the surrounding itself, and particularly signifies that there is a changeable factor in a specific environment. It is measures to recognize an expected situation of a moving object’s approach, contact and collision in advance. While pre-existing context inference method using Dempster-Shafer evidence theory considered belief and uncertainty at the same time, in this paper, we propose the measures that focus on change of belief. Because in dynamic circumstances, It can be an alternative of no necessity of checking uncertainty that repetitive estimating of belief in the lapse of time. With this, we can apply to recognizing a situation that rapidly proceeds as time passes.

In this paper, we propose a gesture user interface for controlling a virtual camera in the 3D virtual space, which can be used to navigate the 3D virtual space by users. In the proposed mechanism, Kinect [1] is used as an input device for detecting positions of user gestures. After obtaining the positions information from Kinect, the sequences of positions are filtered to be recognized as any kind of gestures for controlling the virtual camera. The recognized gestures will push the corresponding operation into the camera in the 3D virtual space so that the 3D space can be navigated according to the user-steered control. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieved the gesture recognition ratio of more than 75%.

Nowadays, a smartphone is an indispensable tool for everyday living and smartphone enthusiasts are eager to upgrade the performance of their devices. In this paper we present an approach to improve the performance of a smartphone. The approach involves two main techniques: increasing the speed of the device by overclocking it and optimizing memory usage by deleting unnecessary apps while replacing apps with more efficient ones. Detailed procedures of these optimization steps are provided which ordinary users can apply. Using these same techniques, we performed optimizing experiments on an Android phone and included the results. The overclocking effect showed significant performance improvements and stable functioning with a minor increase in device temperature. Memory cleaning also showed significant savings in terms of memory space in the device.

Many metric-based classification models have been developed and applied to software fault- proneness prediction. This paper presents a novel prediction model using Random Forest classifier. Random Forest (RF) can be a promising candidate for software quality prediction because it is one of the most accurate classification algorithms available and has strengths in noise handling and efficient running on large data sets. The RF model is constructed and the attribute selection process of the input data is performed before the model evaluation. Prediction accuracy of the model is evaluated using two prediction error measures, Type I and Type II error rates, and compared with well-known prediction models, MultiLayer Perceptron (MLP) neural network model and Support Vector Machine (SVM) model. The results show that the RF model significantly outperforms the SVM model and slightly outperforms the MLP model.

With the recent dynamic growth of the mobile market, the problem of personal information leakage through mobile applications’ weaknesses has become a newly rising problem. Guaranteeing the reliability of input and output data is particularly difficult nowadays because software exchange data across the internet. There is also a risk of being the target of an arbitrary intruder’s malicious attack. Such weaknesses have been the root to software security violations that can cause some serious financial damages. Such weaknesses are the direct causes of software security incidents, which generate critical economic losses. Therefore it is important eliminate weaknesses in the software development stage and these areas such as the secure software development process model are being studied, recently. In this study, a compiler which can examine applications’ weaknesses at the software development stage has been designed and implemented based on existing weakness research. The proposed compiler analyzes the weaknesses within a program at the point of compilation, different to the existing development environments which separate compilers and weakness analysis tools. As a result, the new compiler enables mobile applications that are developed in rapid development cycles to be created safely from the very first stages of development.

Vehicle Ad-hoc Network (VANET) has recently received a lot of attention as the fundamental technology of Intelligent Transportation System. Among other characteristics of VANET, the rapid mobility particularly causes the problem of time constraint in delivery of data, thereby resulting in the low data accessibility. Therefore, the requested service is likely to suffer from poor performance. This paper proposes an efficient method to improve data accessibility in VANET by utilizing the data replica of Roadside Unit (RSU). Both data access pattern and driving pattern are utilized to decide which data item should be replicated in RSU. The conducted simulations clearly reveal that the proposed methodology outperforms other schemes in a variety of environments.

This paper proposes an adaptive wireless-network-induced delay compensation technique for Wireless Sensor and Actuator Network (WSAN). It is well known that network delays and packet losses over wireless network incur a great challenge over performance as well as stability of WSAN-based control systems. This paper presents a time-varying delay compensator exploiting Adaptive Smith Predictor with constant delay buffer. Experimental results with rotary-type inverted pendulum as actuator to be controlled remotely show that the proposed technique increases performance of the WSAN-based control system.
