Depending on the excavation results of archaeology in the 20th century, the excavated literature reveals the gaps in history that the existing traditional literature has not shown. Among them, Qin bamboo slips, which was discovered in Hobukseong Shuihudi in 1975, is meaningful for being the first to confirm the literature of Rishu, which has not been known. In this paper, we will check the appearance of the five elements of the Warring States period through the Qin bamboo slips from Shuihudi’s Rishu. We will also study how the five elements were reflected and operated in Zerishu. The value of Qin bamboo slips from Shuihudi's thought and tactics history is that they provide data that can fill the gap in the study of the Qin Dynasty, which has no record other than history. It also shows that the five elements theory has already been formalized during the Warring States period and has a great influence on the daily lives of people such as Zeri. The origin and history of the five elements are still unknown. However, the Qin bamboo slips from Shuihudi contains the developed appearance and influence of the five elements during the Warring States period. In ancient times, people who make fortune using various tricks or those who choose to work were called Rizhe. Meanwhile, the books they used in performing this process were called Rishu. The Rishu also shows Rizhe choosing a good day and time using the five elements method. Through this, it is possible to confirm a cross-section of the thoughts of ancient people and the appearance of the early techniques of the pre-qin period. Through Rishu, the editor has found that at the end of the country, many of the five elements, including the win-win mutual play of five elements, were already mature to the extent that they were similar to their modern concepts. Furthermore, the yin and yang, and the five elements have not yet formed a complete concept. It was confirmed that these concepts are comparable to today’s theories in their completeness.

This study aimed to redefine natural minerals and gemstones as "Five-Element Minerals" by integrating the Yin-Yang Five-Elements theory with mineralogical and gemological characteristics, and to propose a systematic classification model applicable to the fields of wellness and complementary therapy. A literature-based conceptual approach to developing a classification framework was employed, reviewing classical texts including the Zhouyi, Shangshu (Hongfan), and Huangdi Neijing, together with mineralogical, gemological, and wellness-related studies retrieved from RISS, DBpia, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Multiple classification criteria—mineralogical properties, crystallographic characteristics, color, Yin-Yang attributes, and Five-Element symbolism—were applied to establish the classification framework. As a result, ten categories of Five-Element Minerals were proposed by combining the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) with Yin-Yang attributes, and representative minerals with their mineralogical and symbolic grounds were presented for each category. A conceptual utilization model linking the classification system to meditation, color therapy, and self-care activities was also proposed. This study does not claim medical efficacy of the minerals but presents an academic classification model connecting the Yin-Yang Five-Elements theory with mineralogical characteristics, providing a theoretical foundation for future wellness programs, beauty and healing industries, and educational content.

This study compares and analyzes the Five Elements type theory of Eastern physiognomy and the physical type theory of Western physiognomy. The background of the times in which the two theories came out, the similarities and differences in content, the east-west relations and subsequent studies based on the two theories were examined. The research results are as follows. The time when the Five Elements type theory came out was during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The physical type theory has been around since the 1920s. Therefore, in terms of time, the Five Elements type theory is about 700-1000 years ahead. The Five Elements type theory was used to infer the rich and the poor, the rich and the pretigous, long and short in lifespan, personality, and social relations through appearance. Therefore, the side of the trick was strong. On the other hand, the physical type theory emerged at a time when analytical contemplation and positivism of criminology were intermingled. The physical type theory found out a person's personality by their appearance and was interested in how that personality was expressed through actions. In particular, it paid attention to what kind of crime it leads to. The similarities in terms of contents are that the mold-the athletic type, the water type·soil type-the pyknic type, and the wooden type-the asthenic type are similar in appearance. The fire type and the asthenic type are similar in terms of personality. The difference is that the Five Elements type focus on the face of the person, whereas the physical type mainly describes the appearance of the limbs and the body. Five types of Five Elements type and three to four types of physical type are suggested. The basis of the theory is that the Five Elements type is the Yin-Yang Five Elements theory, and the physical type is based on analytical contemplation and positivism. The Five Elements type emphasizes the true form. However, since the faces of humans are very different, it is emphasized that we need to look at the win-win image and the good and bad points of each part of the face (appearance). In this area, the experience of the physiognomist is important and there is much room for subjective judgment to intervene. In contrast, the physical type theory proposed a typical type and a mixed type in the case of Kretchmer. It was Sheldon who further developed this and he said that only a few of many people have a prototype. Most people saw each type as a mixture of each other. The objective aspect is strong because it is judged as a mesodermal superiority type based on what characteristics dominate. The Five Elements type theory is based on the Yin-Yang Five Elements theory. This theory is close to a philosophical and ideological approach because it is an Eastern world-view or a universe view. On the other hand, the physical type theory was based on the positivism in 19-20C, therefore, it could be the subject of scientific verification. The Five Elements type theory developed mainly in philosophical, ideological, Chinese medicine, customary, and manipulative aspects. In contrast, the physical type theory is connected to the sociological, aesthetic, personality psychological, and business administration aspects as the human appearance is important. However, in recent years, in Eastern physiognomy Western scientific thinking has been introduced, and there is a desire to erase the superstitious and tricky colors of the existing Oriental Physiognomy.

In the Oriental Medicine, the physical constitution of a human being can be classified into five characteristic elements. The remedy based on the five elements constitution has revealed excellent clinical effects so far. Therefore, it may be worthwhile to conduct job design researches considering the five elements constitution for improving the efficiency and safety of job. In this study, we examine whether the theory can be applied for job design through the experiment by ‘Digital-type Speed Anticipation Reaction Tester’ or not and suggest the desirable direction of job design.

This thesis examined the change of the Five Elements Thought(五行思想). The writings in Gwanja(『管子』) are known to have standardized the Five Elements(五行). In Gwanja(『管子』), one season is added to the four seasons. He named it Gyeha(季夏) and created five seasons. Now, with 5 lines and 5seasons, it has become a combination that suits the number. The Five Elements Thought(五行思想) was an idea that politically referred to China and the four seasons. Dong Zhong-Shu(董仲舒) made the Five Elements(五行), which had been political until now, into a relationship between nature and human beings by advocating the theory of impressions of heaven. The problem of the Five Elements(五行) has now moved from a political problem to a social and cultural one. The Five Elements Thought(五行思想) of the Song Dynasty was examined in Zhou Dunyi(周敦頤)'s “Taijitushuo”(「太極圖說)」) and Zhu Xi(朱熹)'s “Taijijieyi”(「太極解義)」), which explained it. What originally had only four poems was resolved with the part called Kiwang, and what was only side(四德) in Mencius(『孟子』) has now become the wuchang(五常). Joseon's Five Elements(五行) idea took the same position as the Song Dynasty's Five Elements(五行) idea as Joseon accepted Neo-Confucianism. The Five Elements(五行) of Silhak scholars in the late Joseon Dynasty opposed the speculative idea of creating all things and thought of them as essential materials for daily life. This idea is against anything speculative. The Five Elements(五行) is still used by us. If so, we need to come up with a plan to universalize it in some way.

The main thesis of this research is to discuss about the concept of Yin-Yang and Five Elements seen in Tsinghua Bamboo manuscripts which have already been published, corroborating handed-down literature and underground written attestations in the Pre-Qin China, and research the characteristics. In ancient China, after the emergence of the concept of Yin-Yang and Five Elements, the shamans widely used it, including primitive divination often used, and it was of great significance in the ancient Chinese shamanism. Therefore, the concept of Yin-Yang and Five Elements has become an important connotation of shamanism, which was also intertwined with shamanism belief. In addition to these shamanistic activities, the scope and penetration of the concept of Yin-Yang and Five Elements in ancient China were quite extensive and deeply rooted in China's history and cultural history. Therefore, the concept of Yin-Yang and Five Elements occupies a position that could not be ignored in the formation of Chinese cultural form. At the same time, it has a profound impact on all aspects of Chinese culture. This paper mainly focuses on the materials of Tsinghua bamboo manuscripts which have been published, and investigates and discusses the main contents of the concept of Yin-Yang and Five Elements.

Ilwolobongdo is a kind of court decoration that was installed in the back of the Joseon dynasty that depicted the sun, moon and five peaks as its name suggests. Other names are Ilwoloakdo, Ilwolkonyundo, Oakdo, Obongdo, Obongbyeong, Ilwolobongbyeong, Obongsanbyeong. This figure means that there are a lot of cultural elements in Ilwolobongdo, and it shows various symbolic meanings. Understanding and analyzing the symbolic meaning of today's artworks is judged to be worthy of research in terms of establishing the identity of our culture superior in international society where culture becomes economic asset. Unfortunately, there are not many records and works of art in the current month of Ilwolobongdo. Because oriental colors are rooted in the Yin Yang and five elements philosophy, Ilwolobongdo's actual cases were examined and analyzed in form and color in the symbolic meaning of the five colors. As a result, Ilwolobongdo has a superior function as a tool to express symbolic meaning rather than the beauty of form and color itself. It is also shown that much of Ilwolobongdo uses five colors based on Yin Yang and five elements. Color analysis also found that the idea of Ilwolobongdo was analyzed in terms of the idea of positive and negative, and that colors were expressed in principle rather than the beauty of the colors themselves. As such, many parts of Ilwolobongdo found that colors were used to express symbolic meanings based on the idea of the Yin Yang and five elements.

The works of Choi Je-woo, a genius philosopher of the Joseon Dynasty and the founder of Donghak, who overturned the feudal worldview and proposed a new alternative to Joseon, frequently feature terms related to the study of divination: “Yongdamyusa” and “Donggyeongdaejeon.” These include “Yin-Yang and the Five Elements,” “Myeongun-gwan,” and “Fengshui.” Research has revealed that Su-woon possessed considerable knowledge of yinyang and the Five Elements, and acknowledged and embraced the value of the theory of yin-yang and the Five Elements. In his “Myeongun-gwan,” Su-un extensively used terms related to “Mingli,” such as “Cheonun,” “Myeongun,” “Palja,” and “Unse.” However, he appears to have merely adopted terms popular among the common people of the time, and did not embrace the fundamental concepts of “Myeongri” (Cheonun), or the theory of “Saju (Four Pillars of Destiny)” , which holds that a person’s life is predetermined by their destiny. He emphasized the subjective aspect of human destiny, emphasizing that seemingly predetermined fortunes can be altered by the individual’s will and effort. Regarding “Fengshui,” Su-un appears to have possessed a considerable amount of knowledge of fengshui and was a proponent of its theories. Su-un’s view of dynamics reveals tensions and concerns between his emphasis on the subjective aspect of human beings as a philosopher and free will, and his acceptance of a deterministic view of dynamics. This study is an introductory study aimed at broadening the horizons of research, and it is hoped that through more extensive data collection and in-depth analysis, Su-un’s view of dynamics will be elucidated.

The Influence of Eastern and Western Culture, Yin-Yang and the Five Elements of Taekwondo Movement. The purpose of this study was to investigate how the principles of the Eastern-Western Yin-Yang and the Five Elements are related to the concept of Taekwondo. The research is the based on two previous research. Yong-Hyun Cho (2016) who claims the possibility of the ancient Chinese yin and yang, the Principle of Platon’s Five Elements and Western’s interpretation of yin and yang is based on DNA bonds. Then the studies from Kyung-Myung Lee (2002,2009) which aims to derives similarities between taekwondo’s concepts and principles with the yin and yang and Platon’s Five Elements. It is possible to think of the similarity between Plato's Five Elements of existence and movement, and Eastern Yin and Yang have progressed to develop Taekwondo’s Yin and Yang and the Five Elements. In conclusion, the reason of all things exists in contradictory principles. The meanings of Do, Strength, Softness have the inverse of Yeuk, Yin and Yang and Law implies that Nothingness and reality all coincides with each other. The five cycles of the elements are significant in martial arts training.

In order to make an urban brand, especially visual symbol or typographic emblem, they have to remind and take some historical and philosophical sources from the city concerned. Because the urban visual expression goes always with its historical root of the city, from which the other cities and citizen could distinguish the city as a brand. This study tries to interpret and explain some Korean city brands according to the theory of Yin and Yang which has enhanced a philosophical perspective on natural things scattered everywhere, a theory of five elements. This makes us to interpret the nature of world by five directions: wood as straight one or linearity, metal as rolling one, water as curving, fire as sharping and soil as a square. These five elements represent also color paradigm of blue, white, black, red, and yellow. On the basis of this theory of yin and yang, the city brand emblems could be interpreted. This study analysed some Korean city emblems with this theory. It revealed that many of emblems comprised some concepts of yin and yang, on the dimension of figure as well as of colors as a kind of philosophical representation. But several mismatches were found in every emblem by misunderstanding of the relation between concept and visual realization.

As an origin of tea plants, China is a country where the advanced culture of drinking tea in everyday life has existed for a long time. The history of tea culture began approximately 4,700 years ago. Among various types, puer tea is China’s representative tea. The cultural value of packaging design not only manifests material culture and spiritual culture but also combines spiritual culture based on the expression form of material culture. Also, an ethnic-cultural characteristic of puer tea, that is, the culture of ethnic minorities in Yunnan Province was composed into a value-added consumption taste with unique characteristics after full consideration of consumers’ cultural perception. The cultural value of puer tea is given social meaning and values based on the local culture. Thus, the method of developing the packaging design of puer tea is to realize that ethnic-cultural elements are involved in the packaging design, study those elements, and come to know the new. The packaging design of puer tea is considered to be one of the expression methods that imagify Chinese culture. This study aims to consider Chinese culture through literature on Chinese ethnic culture, analyze the packaging design of China's five major producers of puer tea to examine whether the ethnic-cultural characteristics of ethnic minorities in Yunnan Province were used, and suggest the direction of development. The scope of study is limited to puer tea produced in Yunnan Province and the packaging design of China's five major producers of puer tea. As a result, it was found that the cultural characteristics of ethnic minorities were used in the packaging design of puer tea, and as puer tea becomes available to international consumers, this study is expected to be helpful to drawing ethnic cultural image and integrating it into the packaging design of puer tea of Yunnan Province.

There are only five pure color words in Korea. They are haying(white), gumjung(black), parang (blue), balgang (red), and norang(yellow). The etymology of these five colors is han, gum, pal, bal, and nal. This ironically has to do with the five languages used to refer to the body in Korean. It is the gama (hair whorl), son (hand), pal (arm), and bal (foot) at the end of the head. Since ancient times, there have been five gods that represent the five gods of Yin and Yang: a black tortoise representing the north, a red bird representing the south, a blue dragon representing the east, a white tiger representing the west, and a yellow dragon in the center that governs the four gods of the east, west, south, and north. Through this study, we aim to find out that Korean color and body languages are related to these five ancient gods. If we apply these characteristics to Korean color and body language, pal (arm) is an organ of the body that can be stiffened upward towards the sky, and it has the etymology of parang (blue). The bal (foot) is an organ that allows the body to move in all directions, and it has the etymology of the word balgang (red) and is located at the bottom of the body. A son(hand) is an organ of the body that can pick up and collect objects, and it has the same etymology as hayang. The gama is hidden in deep hair, located at the highest point of the body, and is derived from the word gumjung (black). I have central control over everything and have the etymology of yellow. Through these studies, it can be seen that the five pure color and body words of Korea have a correlation with the orientation of the elements of yin and yang.

The Yin and Yang Five Elements Philosophy is one of the oldest philosophies of the East. It contains a deep understanding of nature and color that Orientals have. However, the philosophy of Yin and Yang has been treated as an unscientific and shamanic realm. This study aims to develop and develop the philosophy of Yin and Yang as a color system. This study is related to the philosophy of Yin and Yang, published during the Yang Dynasty of China. Literature research was conducted on the basis of Oh Haengdaeui. The appropriate color values of the five elements were studied in correspondence with the purest colors in the modern sense. This study colorfully visualizes the process of change of the five elements: wood, fire, soil, metal, and water. The change lies in the rotation in the right direction, where the five elements of the five elements help each other, and in the rotation in the left direction, where the five elements of the five elements help each other. The five elements of the Five Elements intermingled with each other to determine the changing colors. As a result, it was found that the five elements of the five elements change color in 10 different ways. It was three changes between chromatic colors, three changes in achromatic white and three chromatic colors, three changes in achromatic black and three chromatic colors, and one change between achromatic white and achromatic black. The Western color system is based on an achromatic axis and a color wheel. However, it can be seen that the change of color in the Yin and Yang Five Events is expressed through the rotation of achromatic and chromatic colors together in the right direction and the left direction.

The ancient ancestors of Korea believed that the five directions of east, west, south, and north were important, and that there was a god in charge of each of the five directions, and that he was in charge of the universe, nature, and life. In Korea, the traditional colors follow the Yin and Yang Five Ceremony. The five elements were placed in the bearings symbolized by wood, fire, earth, iron, and water, namely east, south, center, west, and north, and the symbolic colors were called blue, red, yellow, white, and black according to their connotations. These colors should be the five element colors. In studying the colors of the five elements, this researcher found that the five element colors were inconsistent in each of the existing studies. Therefore, the characteristics of the Yin and Yang Five Elements were carefully examined, and the Five Element Colors pursued by the ancestors were identified, and the Five Element Colors were defined to fit the present era. According to modern color standards, the three primary colors of color, cyan, magenta yellow, and the five colors of pure black and pure white, can be said to be the colors that most correspond to the Yin and Yang Five Symbols.

In modern times, many people around the world have a great interest in Korean culture and spend a lot of time learning Korean. However, the most difficult thing for foreigners to learn Korean is that there are too many words that have the same meaning. However, while Korea seems to have a lot of colored words, surprisingly, there are only 5 colored words in Korean. And these five colors are associated with the sun, river, grass, fire, and soil. In addition, when analyzed through the etymology of the Korean language, these five color words correspond to the yin-yang elements and colors, which are very old concepts in Northeast Asia. Through this study, we examined the etymology of Hangeul words in order to identify the five native words that Koreans have cherished since ancient times, and through linguistic analysis of various homophones, we wanted to confirm that the five native words of Koreans are deeply related to the elements of yin and yang. In Korean, the origin of the word haying (white) means hae (sun) and at the same time means soi (iron). The origin of the Korean color word parang (blue) is originally derived from pul (grass). In addition, the word 'bul', which is the root of the Korean word balgang (red), is derived from the word 'fire', and it can be seen that soil, which is an element of the elements of the five elements of yin and yang, means soil in Old Korean. As a result of analyzing the etymology of Korea's pure color words, it can be seen that not only are these five Korean color words exactly identical to the five elements of yin and yang, but also that there is a deep relationship with the five elements of yin and yang when we look at the etymology of the characters.
