This study is on the current status and focus of make–up industry in Korea. Today, technology of Korean beauty and make–up are receiving attention from all over the world. Regardless of age or gender, the amount used of cosmetics is steadily increasing due to the change of consumption trend attaching great importance to well-being. In accordance with the survey on the 1st quarter in 2015 conducted by STATISTICS KOREA, retail sales in domestic demand in cosmetic industry increased by 8.9% compared to the previous year. Economy downturn could not stop the prosperity of cosmetic industry, regardless of aftermath caused by global depression. Imitating celebrities caused by strong desire to look younger has been the craze for the past few years according to commercially used mass media. However, excessive stress and depression originating from natural aging is the evidence of the lack of philosophy on beauty and self-esteem. Recent study shows that educational curriculum on makeup and skin care generates positive impact on self-esteem and self-efficacy. In other words, appearance management has effective consequences. Therefore, it is needed to train health professionals regarding make-up, skin care, cosmetic products and aesthetic point of view. Categorized diagnosis and feedback by age on current status of each individual would be necessary as a part of customized education. Developing a program which can lead to qualitative change is expected to contribute to make-up industry itself.

In modern society, where various cultures are coexisting, the globalization of Korean art and culture is remarkable. It is undeniable that appearance characteristic of Lady GaGa attracts worldwide attention as a global pop-star. This research presents theoretical background about aesthetical expression including art history tendency, classification of fashion coordination and aesthetic sense. Based on the theory related to aesthetical expression, her fashion style assumes complex aspects such as creativity and attracting. Also, it can be concluded as a result of expression about diversity. Todays, when K-beauty is globalized, Lady GaGa is showing unique appearance characteristic in worldwide stages. For professionals of beauty art, this point makes it interesting to research her. Also, I expect that these analysis of appearance characteristic and meaning, theoretical background about aesthetical expression will promote the development of K-beauty contents.

This study looks at the influence make-up has on the image formation of the face through a comparative analysis of facial image, or the impression by others according to changes in make-up according to face type. It was found that even when applied to similar face types, different types of make-up create very different changes in appearance. A medium for creating a good impression, make-up can be applied by first identifying the morphological features of the face and applying accordingly to match facial features so as to positively influence others using make-up both as a tool for obtaining admiration from others and as a tool that appeals to the wearer's confidence.

The purpose of this research is effort to look into the beauty product involved of the multi-functions, the importance of product level of perception and interest in according to the beauty behavior of the youth students that is in the phase of physical change and time of emotion change. Seoul and Cheong-nam province, young female ages between 13 thru 23 years old, and an approximately 300 young female were conducted for Convenience Sampling Assessment. The product involved is referring to the principle of modern marketing related to the product or brand, the study of the consumer behavior was one of the important parameter. The participation of the beauty product and multi-function product are very high with the imitative beauty behavior of young teenager and be susceptible to the beauty trend by the Han-ru and i-dol. This research results will be a help to the marketing strategy for the consumers with the future purchasing power by the beauty behavior and product involvement of the young teenagers.

This thesis is analyzing how much does the aesthetic principle of design participate in creating hair style above other factors such as body, hair, heating machines and chemicals. The result led by applying the principle to various hair style shows that about 90% of hair style involves this aesthetic principle. The principle of design is applied in many types of beauty and expected to continue being studied.

In order to understand if majors of college students studying cosmetology affect their awareness of or understanding on hair-dyeing, this study conducted a survey targeting a total of 200 students in the Department of Cosmetology at five colleges located in Gyeongnam and Busan, and these students were selected as research participants by the convenience sampling method. Six copies of the survey were excluded for having been responded unfaithfully, and regarding a question to know a major of a research participants, there were six other copies that have checked “Others” as a reason for why these six participants have not yet chosen their majors, and consequently, since this answer made it impossible to process the data, in the end, only 188 copies of the survey were gone through the survey analysis. The survey contained a total of 34 questions including three on demographic features and 31 on hair and hair-dyeing. The data was analyzed by Win Version 21.0, an SPSS statistical program, and the results are summarized as follows. In the light of what has been mentioned so far, the study, now, learns that most of cosmetology majors have dyed hair, damaging hair regardless of what they major in at school. Since they must prevent hair from being damaged more, they are strongly advised to pay extra attention to how to restore the damaged hair. In addition, not only the students majoring in cosmetology but also those actually working for the beauty industry should improve their understanding on hair-dyeing as they try to get tips or materials to help them reduce their hair damage.
