The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of research project program of science process skills and science-related attitudes for high school students. This study were accompanied by 72 junior students of G High School who were reorganized as students whose research subject was closely related to chemistry. These students went through 28 periods of 14 sessions of research project program, were tested before and after the study on their science process skills and science-related attitudes. A simple questionnaire afterwards to get their thoughts on this program, was surveyed. The results are as follows. First, the research project program was effective in the science process skills (p<0.01). There was a statistically meaningful difference in the subcategory of deduction, setting up hypotheses, finding variables, building experiments, graphing and interpreting data. Although there was an increase in the average scores of prediction, operant definition, and generalization factors, it was not statistically meaningful (p>0.05). Second, the research project program showed an increase in the post-test of the science-related attitudes but was not statistically meaningful (p>0.05). In terms of subcategoty, the social importance of science, criterion of scientists, application of scientific attitude, and enjoyment of science classes were statistically meaningful (p<0.05). Third, according to the survey of research project program, there was an increase in creating a research problem and solving it by oneself as well as in participating with other teammates to solve a problem. But the most difficult thing was when the experiment failed during the research was processing. The curiosity and interest, towards objects around all lives and science classes after the program done, were increased.

In order to foster ‘creative convergence talents’ teachers and pre-service teachers who possess a certain degree of creativity must learn about this new approach as part of their teacher training. In this study, we attempted to identify the implications on the curriculum of the teacher education-training college in question by analysing secondary school teachers’ and pre-service teachers’ creativity and by collecting sufficient data to develop a positive feedback model for selecting, cultivating, and appointing pre-service teachers who fulfil the requirements of said college of education. Such teachers will display the commitment and professionalism to fulfil their teaching duties in the best possible manner and will consistently produce valuable contributions to their chosen subject matter and integrate these into their daily teaching. These teachers will complete all their tasks in a creative way, including student guidance, administrative duties, and academic lessons. The factors that distinguished creative teachers from others included originality and fluency. Our test group comprised 216 pre-service teachers as well as 137 fully qualified teachers. Teachers’ understanding of the factors required in order to qualify as a ‘creative and committed teacher’ was very low. We provided data to the college of education to increase creativity when selecting teachers and curricula based on an analysis of perceptions of creativity provided by teachers and pre-service teachers.

The purpose of this study is to explore the applying possibility of the Earth Systems Education(ESE) in elementary school science education through the improving of students' recognition with the earth systematic nature by systems thinking education - for this was the recognizing as earth systematic nature was the key element of ESE, and the systems thinking skill is accredited very effective tool for the understanding with earth systematic nature. For this, the systems thinking's teaching-learning programs were developed and applied to the 6th students (21s) for 10hours' classes. The results of this study are as follows; In most of the 6th students didn't recognize with earth systematic nature from a lack of understanding of the vapor being in every nature environments. In systems teaching-learning classes, most of students participated positively in learning activities and achieved the aim of a lesson. In the testing results for students' recognition improving to earth systematic nature after the systems thinking education, about 24% students were showed the improving results of the recognition with earth systematic nature. Consequently, It is suggested that just as the achieving of the points of ESE in elementary school science education, the approaching method of the systems thinking education is worth attempting to applying of the ESE.

In this research, a subject substitute STEAM program was developed in context of a trend of STEAM education and a new science contents in a 2009 revised curriculum, which can replace the 2009 revised curriculum contents of 'Sound' unit in the third and the fourth grade. The developed program was taught to the 4th graders in a field. After applying the program, how students acknowledge the subject substitute STEAM program was analyzed through questionnaire. The research results were as follows. First, the subject substitute STEAM program of 3 sub programs was developed with centered around 'sound' unit for 4th graders. Second, students made a positive estimation of the STEAM program because of various activities and learning subject related to daily life. Third, they considered difficult term, necessary craft skills in creative design, understanding scientific principle and a lot of necessary time as difficulties of the STEAM program. And they also recognized that making stuff activity and learning aid material like activity sheet, picture and video helped to understand a lesson. Lastly, students had a positive thinking or negative thinking about STEAM program before they learn. But after learning the STEAM program, all of them showed their positive attitude to the STEAM program.

In this study, find out of recognition of the effect of science, society and ethical aspects on natural disasters and understanding degree of knowledge applying for SSI class aimed at elementary pre-service teachers by developing SSI training program of the 'Earth and Space' field. Also, after SSI class application we examined the change perceptions of elementary pre-service teachers. SSI training program was that elementary pre-service teachers participated in the SSI class of a variety of subjects in the field of 'Earth and Space' and directly joined in the decision-making process and reflectional discussion with colleagues as conducted in this class reflective discussion with the pre- primary teachers pre-service teachers. Elementary pre-service teachers were understanding of the nature of the science and to understand in more depth about the SSI class characteristics. This study, second grade 115 people who was taking 'science and teaching materials' course in B National University of Education at B city participated. In order to apply for SSI class, one semester based on 15 weeks until seven weeks were science and teaching materials and based on the nature of science, after 8 weeks we set the theme of the contents related to the Earth and space and give lesson applied for SSI. During 8 weeks, test subjects 4 classes were taking 50 minutes a week 100 minutes. First time has theoretical lessons in topics related to the 'Earth and space' and on the second week, each classes participate in the decision-making processes respectivly by dicussing and debating on the first week's topic as regarding social and moral aspects of it. We obtained the following results. First, elementary pre-service teachers were acquiring the results of 67% in the knowledge aspects of the 'Earth and space'. This result was determined that most of the elementary pre-service teachers were liberal arts in high school. Second, while participating in the SSI class, elementary pre-service teachers were concretely aware of the nature of SSI and the characteristics of the class. Third, the elementary pre-service teacher are thaught that introduction education courses about 'Earth and space' are needed but most of the students responded that this would require a lot of effort of teachers. This was derived from not familiar class form that did not fulfill in the science teaching methods until now.

The purpose of this research is to examine the current state of inserting illustrations in science textbooks under the 7th Revised Educational Curriculum which is currently enforced in all grades of elementary schools, and to compare and analyze the external and internal differences in illustrations in science textbooks of elementary schools in Tanzania and Korea to present desirable direction of producing illustrations. There are not only some differences in rate of the kinds and role of the illustrations in grades, but also in both countries. In Korea textbooks, Photographs were mainly used to guide the students into experiments and to train the students in analyzing and interpreting data. In contrast, the Tanzania textbooks place more emphasis on pictures to enhance their interests and curiosity and understand. The Korea textbooks have to place more various illustrations instead of photos but the Tanzania textbooks should place more photos. As a result the addition of more diverse forms of illustrations and the re-organization of illustrations according to the topic should be considersd in future Korea and Tanzania textbooks.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the mental model and the depictive gestures observed in the explanations of elementary school students about the reason why seasons change. As a result of analysis in gestures of each mental model, mental model was remembered as “motion” in case of CM-type, and showed more “Exphoric” gestures that expressed gesture as a language. CF type is remembered in “writings or pictures,” and metaphoric gestures were used when explaining some alternative concepts. CF-UM type explained with language in detail, and showed a number of gestures with “Lexical.” Analyzing depictive gestures, even with sub-categories such as rotation, revolution and meridian altitude, etc., a great many types of gestures were expressed such as indicating with fingers, palms, arms, ball-point pens, and fists, etc., or drawing, spinning and indicating them. We could check up concept understandings of the students through this. In addition, as we analyzed inconsistencies among external representations such as verbal language and gesture, writing and gesture, and picture and gesture, we realized that gestures can help understanding mental models of the students, and sometimes, we could know that information that cannot be shown by linguistic explanations or pictures was expressed in gestures. Additionally, we looked into two research participants that showed conspicuous differences. One participant seemed to be wrong as he used his own expressions, but he expressed with gestures precisely, while the other participant seemed to be accurate, but when he analyzed gestures, he had whimsical concepts.

The purpose of the research was to analyze the characteristics which appeared to the process of designing experiment for pre-service elementary teachers. This study were participated 26 pre-service elementary teachers. The findings indicated that first, the researcher figured out the process elements could constructed in 12 elements such as ‘states problem or question, predicts outcome or hypothesizes, lists materials needed, arranges steps in sequential order, lists more than 3 steps, Explore variables and select one or more variables, plans to control variables, plans to measure and observation, plans data collection, plans to repeat testing and tells reason, states plan for interpreting data, states plan for making conclusion based on data, states plan for making conclusion based on data’ but did not figure out 2 elements such as 'defines the terms of the experiment, practice safety'. second, the characteristics of pre-service elementary teachers in the process of designing experiment were as follows; pre-service elementary teachers designed experiments unstructured process listed types and showed the superficial level of the design experiment. The results show that the programs of designing experiment activity should be constructed with the process elements which were concentrated by pre-service elementary teachers, should provide feedbacks to design experiment more accurately.
