본 연구는 57명의 고등학생들이 환경의 변화에 대해 갖고 있는 인식을 그리기 활동을 통해서 분석 하였다. 절반이 넘는 학생들이 현재의 환경을 순수 한 자연 공간으로, 미래의 환경을 인공적 요소들이 포함된 공간으로 표현하여 과학기술의 발달을 그림 속에 나타내었다. 대부분의 고등학생들은 현재의 환경 상태를 인간에 의해 오염된 공간으로 표현하여 부정적 인식을 드러내었다. 미래의 환경 상태에 대 해서는 절반의 학생들이 긍정적으로, 나머지 절반의 학생들은 부정적으로 표현하고 있어 학교 현장에서 환경을 개선하려는 의지를 드높이고 긍정적 인식으 로 전환시킬 수 있도록 노력해야 할 것이다.
This study was designed to analyze fifty-seven high school students' perception of environmental change through drawing. More than half of the students showed the present environment as a pure natural space, and they represented the future environment as a space which includes the artificial contents, they also expressed technology advance in their picture. Most of high school students showed the negative perception to express the present environmental condition in a polluted space by human. In matters of the future environmental condition, half of students expressed it positively, the other half of students expressed it negatively, we should develop our will to improve the environment, and try to change student's preception positively.

본 연구는 90명의 고등학생들(성취도 상․중․하 수준의 각 30명)을 대상으로 GAP 프로그램의 일환 으로 개발된 10개의 문항으로 지구과학자에 대한 인식을 분석하였다. 고등학생들은 지구과학 교과에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 갖고 있으나, 직업인으로서 지구과학자에 대한 이해가 매우 부족하며, 자신의 진로로 연계하여 인식하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 성취 수준이 낮은 학생들의 지구과학 학습의 실패 는 지구과학자에 대한 부정적인 인식과 미래 진로 로의 비연계로 이어졌다. 학교교육 현장에서부터 학 생들이 지구과학자를 접할 수 있는 기회를 제공하 고 진로교육 프로그램을 통해 직업으로 연계시키려 는 노력이 절실하게 필요하다.
This study was designed to 10 questions as development of GAP program for ninety high school students(each student of 30 with achievement as high, medium, and low categories), it was analyzed the perception of Earth scientist. High school students have a positive perception about a course in Earth science, but they have lack of knowledge about Earth scientist as a career man, and they can't recognize Earth scientist as a career. A failure of learning of Earth science for Students with low level achievement leads to a negative perception about Earth scientist and disconnection to future career. School education should provide an opportunity to encounter Earth scientist for students and it is badly in need of effort to connect to the job training program.

The purpose of this study is to research about the effects on improvement academic achievement of students based on the core learning standards of science. The researcher selected experimenter and started this study as a graduate student who is majoring in science education, experimenter chose to study 48 Sixth graders in elementary schools in B city for research group(24 students), Comparison group(24 students). The study was conducted from March to the end of July 2014. The teacher who is doing activity of professor in research group and the comparison group is science education specialist. Researcher and experimenter frequently exchange their opinions for control variables of teacher. The results are as follows. First, based on unit time strategies based on core achievement standards classes are effective in improving students' academic achievement. Elementary school teacher has difficulty in teaching for all subjects based on unit time strategies. Second, based on unit time strategies based on core achievement standards classes showed high level of satisfaction in perception of students. Thus it can be seen that teaching strategies of unit time based on the core achievement standards is effective to academic achievement improvement. The proposal for further study based on the results is as follows. First, research is needed to study the teaching methods that have practical and theoretical study time and lesson application opportunity for teaching strategies of curriculum unit time. Second, experimental studies that using strategies of unit time based on the core achievement standards are needed about learning method that can be applied in a variety of subjects.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects on STEAM education for intergrated science inquiry ability of high school students. The experimental and control group were 30 students, respectively. The STEAM program developed by a teacher study group was applied to the experimental group students for 6 months. The control group learned traditional methods. The results of this study showed that the intergrated science inquiry ability of experimental group students were increased positively(P<0.05). Also the abilities as hypothesis, defining variables, determining variables, operational definition and data interpretation improved affirmatively(P<0.05) except graphing.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of science lessons using mind mapping on creativity and academic achievement in science. The subjects of this study were fifth-grade students selected from four classes of an elementary school located in Busan. For ten weeks, the experimental group of 40 students were taught using the mind mapping technique. The comparative group, also of 40 students, was taught in normal classes which used a standard text-book. Children were given a test on science processing skills and academic achievement in science to measure the effects of mind mapping. The Likert scales were used to gather student`s feedback on creativity and academic achievement in science. Through these procedures, the following results were obtained: First, mind mapping had a greater effect on science processing skills than the normal classes, where a text-book was used. Second, mind mapping was effective in improving the student`s academic achievements in science at a greater level than the normal classes where a text- book was used. Third, after viewing results of the Student Recognition Investigation, we found that the students showed a higher level of interest in science lessons that used mind mapping, and were better able to understand the scientific theories. As a result, the elementary science class with mind mapping developed greater science processing skills and saw higher academic achievement in science. We conclude that science classes that use mind mapping have the potential to develop better science processing skills and improve academic achievement in science.

This study investigates the implementation of the Converged Science, and what teachers and students think of it in order to understand how it is taking root in schools. The results identify ways in which the new curriculum can establish itself in schools. One hundred and two science teachers, who had participated in the mandatory workshop for the 2009 Amended Course of Science, were given the first survey regarding their general perception of the converged science curriculum. A year after the first implementation of the new curriculum, one hundred and seventy one science teachers were given the second survey in order to determine their general perception and actual results in the classrooms. A similar survey was given to one hundred and forty nine tenth grade students. In addition, one hundred and forty eight tenth grade students, who had experienced the new science curriculum, took part in another survey revealing their general thoughts the course. The results show that the teachers’ responses are rarely positive. The teachers claimed that the contents were too extensive while the level of fundamental concepts were too rigorous for tenth graders. They also asserted that the contents contained too much of a particular subject, and that it is necessary to lower the level of rigor. With regard to the level of unification of converged science textbooks, the teachers expressed that they are still slightly inadequate. The subject of science in the seventh curricula was criticized due to its lack of convergence: over 90% of the respondents answered negatively. On the other hand, the students responded more positively: they said that the new converged science was difficult to learn, but was interesting. In Busan, most high schools adopted the new curriculum in the first year when it was introduced for the first time. In most cases (over 80%), several teachers divided and taught the contents either according to their majors or regardless of their majors.

This study aimed to investigate the high school students' conceptions about the plate tectonics through visual representation. For this purpose, the subjects were 67 students in 11th-grade high schools in Chungbuk. In order to in-depth understand the students' conceptions about plate tectonics, so the investigator conducted a semi-structured interview. The conclusions were as in the following. After learning the plate tectonics, the students had the alternative conceptions associated with terminology, colors' meanings, plate-related melting, plate's movement, plates' boundaries, mantle's physical conditions, driving forces for plate movement, and they had the organic relations about colors' meanings, mantle's physical conditions, and driving forces of plate movement. Also, the visual representation used to teach plate tectonics influenced on the students' responses about terminology, plates' boundaries, plate-related melting and the mantle's physical features, also this study found the factors of visual representation causing the learners to create alternative conceptions. These results implicated the importance of teacher's role in identifying the students' interpretation process on visual representation, and it needed to improve the factors creating students' alternative conceptions about visual representation and to study the factors further.

This study is to develop a subject substitute STEAM program which can be applied instead of classes in school field and to seek development plan of a subject substitute STEAM program based on that. The program was developed by experts on science education and teachers who participated in developing STEAM program business conducted by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity and one 6th grade located in small and medium city was chosen for application. As a result, the subject substitute STEAM program attracted students' interest and helped to understand for them. In addition, the development plan was found that teachers' participation is very important, an inquiry activity related to real life is to be included and enough activity time is helpful in students' understanding, when developing a subject substitute STEAM program.

A talented person in a knowledge based society is the person who has ability to create intellectual property value. This intellectual property comes from invention. According to several researches, invention and creativity have a strong correlation. And a manifestation of creativity is related to family background and parenting styles of a student. This narrative research is to understand creativity factor, family background and parenting styles of five foreign inventors in elementary textbooks. As a result of study, all of the inventors had intellectual curiosity, originality and sophistication. And despite economically difficult environment, they grew up in houses where gives an educational opportunity and their relationships with family members were good. Also at least one of their parents supported their decision and they participated in the education for their children.

This study was aimed to find the impact of science lessons using e-NIE on science process skills and scientific attitudes of elementary students in comparison with that of traditional lessons. Subjects of this study were 5th graders from two separate classes at a elementary school located in U city. And the experiment has been conducted throughout 10 lessons for the duration of total 12 weeks, where one class, experimental group, attended e-NIE based lessons, while the other, comparative group, with traditional lessons for the same period, in an effort to collect both pre and post test results to compare. Findings from this study were briefly listed below: Firstly, e-NIE applied lessons were more effective in improving science process skills than traditional lessons, especially in the domain of integrated science process skills, with meaningful difference. Secondly, lessons combined with e-NIE enhanced scientific attitudes of elementary students more than traditional lessons with meaningful difference.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Earth System Education using multimedia on the elementary school students’ environmental sensitivity and pro-environmental behavior. To verify this research problem, the subject of this study was fifth-grade students selected from two classes of M elementary school located in Busan city. For three months, the experimental group of 25 students was taught using multimedia. The comparison group also of 26 students was taught in normal classes which used a text- book. All students were given pre and post test to verify the effects of Earth System Education using multimedia on elementary school student’s environmental sensitivity and pro-environmental behavior. The results from this study are as the following. First, Earth System Education using multimedia were effective on elementary school student’s environmental sensitivity. Second, Earth System Education using multimedia were effective on elementary school student’s pro- environmental behavior. Third, All most all experimental students were satisfied with Earth System Education using multimedia. In conclusion, Earth System Education using multimedia showed very positive effects on improvement of elementary school students' environmental sensitivity and pro-environmental behavior.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the pattern and characteristics of elementary school teaching and learning processes in science based classes. The study participants' class was recorded in video and instructional conversation transcription. The pattern of the observed class was analyzed using the classification frame suggested by Mogan &Saxton(2006). In result, the questioning for elicit information was most frequent and questioning for shape understanding and the questioning for press for reflection in its priority. In result, the presence of elicited questioning for the attainment of knowledge and understanding is more prominent in science-based classrooms. It was revealed that the participating teachers used the questioning sentence pattern more frequently and the self-sustained inquiry that accelerates creative thinking of the student was lacking. It was discovered that teaching elicited questioning, which accelerates creative thinking, as well as fact confirmation pattern is a necessary element of training for teachers.
