We developed quantification method based on the concept of candela in physics. The measurement of fluorescence signal from a nude mouse in the research of molecular biology. In the measurement of the optical signal with CCD, the quantification method for photon counts based on bio-luminescence imaging technique can provide comparative reference data. In this paper, we described theoretical derivation of our proposed concept. We hope this method could be a useful standard reference for quantitative date analysis in optical imaging.

본 논문은 국지적 상호작용 하에서 행위자들간에 특성의 차이에 근거한 구별짓기가 협조적 행위의 진화에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 구별짓기의 성향이 왜, 그리고 어떤 메커니즘을 통해서 진화해나가는지를 보이고자 시도할 것이다. 아울러 구별짓기 성향과 함께 내부인과 외부인을 향한 행동을 다르게 함으로써 어떻게 내부인에 대한 이타적 협조행동을 발생시키는지, 더 나아가 구별짓기의 근거가 되는 행위자들의 여러 특성들(생물학적 혹은 문화적)은 어떻게 변화해 나가고 이들 특성의 변화가 구별짓기와 협조적 행동에 어떤 효과를 가져오는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 더 나아가 본 논문에서는 구별짓기가 협조적 행위의 진화에 영향을 미치는 과정을 장/단기로 구분함으로써 구별짓기의 효과를 보다 명확히 규명하고자 한다.

A method for synthesizing o-carborane substituted tetrahydroindoles derivatives, starting from tryptamine, is described. In vitro studies showed the desired compounds 9 and 10 synthesized accumulate to high levels in B-16 melanoma cells with low cytotoxicity.

Morus alba has been well known for its tonic effect or preventing of hypertension, aging, or diabetes mellitus in Asian countries. To evaluate the its effect on hair growth promotion, we performed the hair regrowth experiment with leaf, branch, root and fruit extract of Morus alba on animal model of C57BL/6 mouse. The hair regrowth effect was remarkable in the mouse treated branch and root extract (with what %), however, little effect on hair regrowth appeared on the mouse treated with leaf extract. Morus alba extract displayed antibacterial effects on Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas and Candida albicans. These results indicated that branch and root extract of Morus alba could be applicable for hair regrowth or prevention of hair loss in human.

Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a special class of plant steroid hormones that are essential for normal growth and development. Part of confusion is whether BRs are unique to plants, because they have overlapping physiological roles with other better-studied hormones and with physiological responses caused by light. In systems designed to assay for cytokinins, the effects of BRs vary. We measured hypocotyl length for testing the ability of brassinolide (BL) to rescue double mutant between det2 and the photoreceptor null mutant phytochrome B (phyB). PHYB involved in controlling hypocotyl elongation in increased concentration of BL whereas phyBdet2 double mutant just partially rescue to phyB in white and red light indicated the involvement of BRs in PHYB regulated cell elongation. BRs regulated hypocotyl growth was delayed by BAP, a cytokinin treatment but inhibitory effects of BAPs on hypocotyl growth was slightly recovered by BL. The result indicated that the mode of action of BR and cytokinin is independent or sequential in the downstream light-regulated response control on hypocotyl elongation and also light modulated the action of BR and cytokinin in some extent.

We fabricated surface pattern on a light guide panel (LGP) using CO2 laser to improve the luminescence performance of inner-scatterer LGP, which is made of PMMA sample with exploiting Q-switched 2nd harmonic Nd:YAG laser engraving system, and the effect of surface pattern in the brightness distribution of LGP was analysed. To prove the feasibility of proposed method in the enhancement of LGP performance, we designed three different surface patterns on the innerscatterer LGP. The experimental results has proved the potential in the application of surface pattern to increasing the brightness of inner-scatterer LGP.

본 논문은 자바 에플릿(Java applet)을 이용하여 보존모형과 비보존모형의 온도에 따른 손상확산(damage spreading)의 특성을 분석하였다. 보존모형인 아이징(Ising)모형과 비보존 모형인 격자기체(lattice gas) 및 Driven Diffusive System (DDS)을 다양한 전이확률(transition probability)을 사용하여 온도에 따라 물질내부에서 손상확산이 어떻게 발전하는지를 자바 에플릿 프로그램을 이용하여 시각화하여 손상확산을 명확히 이해하고자 하였다.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects essential oil from Lavendular officinalis on the production of UVBirradiated-induced nitric oxide(NO), in vivo and in vitro. NO is a recently discovered mediator of cell communication involved in a variety of physiological and pathophysiological processes. This enzyme is present in various tissues including smooth muscle cells and macrophages and take part in several immunopathological process. In vitro, the cytotoxicity and cell viability of aroma oil was evaluated by the MTT assay in the concentration of 0.01, 0.05, 0.1%. And, the effect of aroma oil was investigated to production of NO in human fibroblast cells line CCD-986sk (2×105 cell/well) after UVBirradiation with aroma oil (0.01, 0.1, and 1%). The result showed that aroma oil did not affected the production of NO. In vivo, it was investigated to production of NO after UVB- irradiation with aroma oil. The experimental groups were divided into four groups. Aroma oil was stimulated the production of NO by itself. As the results, all of the in vitro and in vivo, aroma oil were affected production of NO by dependent the concentration-manners.
Study of antimicrobial activity and the mode of action of Anal P5 peptide

In a previous study, we showed that Cecropin A (1-8)-Magainin 2 (1-12) hybrid peptide (CA-MA)’s analogue, Anal P5, exhibit broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. Anal P5, designed by flexible region (positions 9, 10)-substitution, Lys-(positions 4, 8, 14, 15) and Leu- (positions 5, 6, 12, 13, 16, 17, 20) substitutions, showed an enhanced antimicrobial and antitumor activity without hemolysis. The primary objective of the present study was to gain insight into the relevant mechanisms of antimicrobial activities of Anal P5 by using flow cytometric analysis. Anal P5 exhibits strong antifungal activity in a salt concentration independent manner. In addition, Anal P5 causes significant morphological alterations of the bacterial surfaces as shown by scanning electron microscopy, supporting its antibacterial activity. Its potent antibiotic activity suggests that Anal P5 is an excellent candidate as a lead compound for the development of novel antibiotic agents.

This report examines the variation on structural properties of SnO2 thin films .TEM studies shows some of the interfaces to be atomically faceted. Secondary X-ray photoelectron Spectroscopy Analysis(XPS) depth profiles show that films have a uniform composition along the depth.
