Abnormal climate is a phenomenon in which meteorological factors such as temperature and precipitation are significantly higher or lower than normal, and is defined by the World Meteorological Organization as a 30-year period. However, over the past 30 years, abnormal climate phenomena have occurred more frequently around the world than in the past. In Korea, abnormal climate phenomena such as abnormally high temperatures on the Korean Peninsula, drought, heatwave and heavy rain in summer are occurring in March 2023. Among them, heatwaves are expected to increase in frequency compared to other abnormal climates. This suggests that heatwave should be recognised as a disaster rather than just another extreme weather event. According to several previous studies, greenhouse gases and meteorological factors are expected to affect heatwaves, so this paper uses logistic regression and discriminant analysis on meteorological element data and greenhouse gas data in Gwangju from 2008 to 2022. We analyzed the impact of heatwaves. As a result of the analysis, greenhouse gases were selected as effective variables for heatwaves compared to the past, and among them, chlorofluorocarbons were judged to have a stronger effect on heatwaves than other greenhouse gases. Since greenhouse gases have a significant impact on heatwaves, in order to overcome heatwaves and abnormal climates, greenhouse gases must be minimized to overcome heatwaves and abnormal climates.

Jung et al.(2015) suggest the two-phase warranty model, which is a general type of warranty model. Under the two-phase warranty, the warranty period is divided into two intervals, one of which is for renewing replacement warranty, and the other is for minimal repair warranty. And warranty policies play a very important role in product marketing. In this paper, we suggest the optimal warranty policy for free extended two-phase warranty. To determine the optimal warranty period, we adopt the expected profit per unit product. So, the expressions for the total expected cost, the sale price and the expected profit per unit product from the manufacturer’s point of view are derived. Also, we discuss the optimal warranty period and the numerical examples are provided to illustrate the proposed the warranty policy.

This study explores the enhancement of mechanical properties in Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) composites through the incorporation of Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) and Ethylene Glycol Dimethacrylate (EGDMA). Utilizing Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology, we conducted a series of experiments to analyze the impact of varying concentrations of MMA and EGDMA on PMMA. The results indicate that while MMA demonstrates non-linear and variable mechanical strength across different PMMA concentrations, EGDMA consistently improves mechanical strength as PMMA concentration increases. This consistent enhancement by EGDMA suggests a stable and predictable reinforcement effect, which is critical for applications requiring high mechanical strength. Our comparative analysis highlights that EGDMA is a more effective additive than MMA for optimizing the mechanical performance of PMMA composites. Specifically, EGDMA’s ability to provide uniform reinforcement across various PMMA concentrations makes it ideal for high-strength applications. These findings are significant for material scientists and engineers focused on the design and development of advanced PMMA-based materials. In conclusion, this research underscores the importance of selecting appropriate additives to enhance the mechanical properties of PMMA composites. The superior performance of EGDMA in reinforcing PMMA suggests its potential for broader applications in fields such as automotive, construction, medical devices, and 3D printing. This study provides valuable insights that can guide future research and development in high-performance composite materials, paving the way for innovative applications and improved material efficiency.

Dendritic cells play a very important role in the immune response as antigen-presenting cells that are critical for initiating both innate and acquired immunity. They recognize, process and present foreign antigens to other key immune cells to trigger and regulate the immune response. The ability to activate these dendritic cells can be used as a treatment for various immune diseases. Maqui berry has been reported to have anticancer, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. However, its effect on the activity of dendritic cells has not been studied. In this study, we investigated the efficacy of maqui berry extract in modulating dendritic cell activity. Treatment of dendritic cells with maqui berry extract induced the costimulatory molecules CD80, CD86, and MHC class I and II in a concentration-dependent manner. Furthermore, the antigen-presenting capacity of dendritic cells was inhibited, which confirms their ability to present antigens, and the production of Interleukin (IL)-12, which is important for dendritic cell activity, was increased. These results indicated that Maqui berry extract activates dendritic cells maturation by inducing the production of co-stimulatory molecules and IL-12. These results suggest that maqui berry extract may act as an effective adjuvant to enhance dendritic cell-based immune responses.
