A Study on Development Direction of Smart Pole for Smart City Construction

Smart pole is one of mega trend in smart city development. It has multi-function to get as much as data from the street to better city management. And smart street lighting of smart pole as core part of smart city development is being implemented by many cities in globally. Refer to the latest edition of Navigant Research’s Smart City Tracker includes smart city projects in 221 cities, a quarter of which are deploying smart street lighting ranging from initial pilots to citywide and regional deployments that span tens and even hundreds of thousands of lights. The most important feature of smart street lighting solution is “Connectivity” through the IoT technology. In order to implement the smart city, we should have so-called intelligent watchdog and mesh networked post for keeping the various smart city technology development progress and operation properly. Smart street lighting solution could be main infrastructure as an enabler for a range of smart city applications. We can talk about the expected role of smart street lighting for the smart city development on this paper.
A Study on LED Lighting Control according to Sleep Stage using PPG Sensor of Wearable Device

Recently, as the sleep disorder problem of modern people deepens, the interest towards quality of sleep is increasing. To increase the quality of modern people’s sleep. This paper has suggested an LED lighting control system according to the sleep stage using PPG sensors of wearable devices. The pulse of the wrist radial artery was measured using a wearable device mounted with PPG sensor, which enables heart rate-measuring, and by using the point that heart rate lowers during stable sleep than non-sleeping, the LED lighting of indoors was controlled, which is the disturbing element when sleeping. For the performance evaluation, a 10-Fold cross analysis was conducted for performance evaluation, and a result of an average accuracy 87.02% was obtained as a result. Therefore, the LED lighting control system according to the sleep stage using a wearable device of this paper is expected to contribute to raise the quality of the user’s life.

In this paper, we propose a system for controlling the brightness of street lights by predicting pedestrian paths, identifying the position of pedestrians with motion sensing sensors and obtaining motion vectors based on past walking directions, then predicting pedestrian paths through the route prediction smart street lighting system. In addition, by using motion vector data, the pre-treatment process using linear interpolation method and the fuzzy system and neural network system were designed in parallel structure to increase efficiency and the rough set was used to correct errors. It is expected that the system proposed in this paper will be effective in securing the safety of pedestrians and reducing light pollution and energy by predicting the path of pedestrians in the detection of movement of pedestrians and in conjunction with smart street lightings.

Demand response is usually operated through using the power rates and incentives. Demand management based on power charges is the most rational and efficient demand management method, and such methods include rolling base charges with peak time, sliding scaling charges depending on time, sliding scaling charges depending on seasons, and nighttime power charges. Search for other methods to stimulate resources on demand by actively deriving the demand reaction of loads to increase the energy efficiency of loads. In this paper, ESS algorithm for saving energy based on predicting the amount of solar power generation that can be used for buildings with small loads not under electrical grid.

Smart city has effect toward its sustainability. Citizens should be viewed as co-creators of cities, not consumers. From this point of view, citizen responsibility and ethics should be emphasized. Now, Smart cities are becoming more important than ever. From now on, urban development is divided into two major categories. One side is the development based on smart city, and the other is urban development that revives the old city. As the city grows bigger and bigger, many problems arise and there are many problems. This tendency must become stronger in the future. But, Stones shall be dressed to exact size and shapes before being laid. Until now, No attempt has been made to declare about Citizen Spirit in Fourth Industrial Revolution. In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in order to become a leading country of Smart City, we must first complete the spiritual revolution. From this aspect, this study proposes the “Declaration of the Fourth Industrial Spirit Revolution”.
