India is a country where vast medical needs are not met. Internet of Things (IoT) has created a new horizon in health care sector which specifically aims at connecting the world via smart objects. IoT enabled devices are used in various industries such as Envi-ronmental Monitoring, Building and Home Automation, Medical and Healthcare Systems, Infrastructure Management, Transport Systems, Energy Management, Industrial Applica-tions, etc. Healthcare industry is one of the biggest industries that provides health care products and incorporates the delivery of services to patients. These services are supported by electronic processs called as E-health. Using IoT devices remote health monitoring and notification can be done easily as well as quickly in case of emergency. Smart TV as a platform for E-Health Services can also be called as “Health-TV” which is one of the technology that provides IoT based e-Health Solutions to the patients. ICT in-dustry mainly focuses on the easy access of remote health services such as medication reminder, health monitoring and health coaching at home. It also helps in independent living style for the patient like senior citizen, managing and accessing health services in a specific condition from home via Health TV. “Smart infusion pumps” is another technol-ogy which is used for treating patients more carefully and accurately. It collects data and then aggregates in a database which contains the records of the administration in the central server. They are basically network devices which connect hospitals and clinics through wireless local area network.”Smart-o-meter” is a Web-based patient-centered decision support system for BP control using an iterative, user-centered design process so that it meets standards of feasibility and acceptability for patient navigators and partici-pants. The outcome or suggestion of this intensive research:  The government should implement the health care technological solutions, as pri-vate organizations can’t reach maximum masses of India.  A shift from traditional methods to the conventional methods of health care prac-tices in India is required so as to build a better environment for the people to live in.  As many Indians are still hesitant of relying on internet based technology, espe-cially IoT (fact from our survey over respondent in city PUNE, INDIA), a proper aware-ness session and demo session should be conducted in leading hospitals and institutes.

Recently, there has been greater attention to the use of classifier systems in medical diagnosis. Medical diagnostic tools provide automated procedures for objective decisions by making use of quantitative measures and machine learning techniques. These tools are effective and helpful for medical experts to diagnose diseases. One of such diseases is breast cancer which is the second largest cause of cancer deaths among women. To build an intelligent tool, it is very important to have an effective set of features. Two types of feature sets have been commonly implemented for the purpose of breast cancer diagnosis: image shape-based features and microarray gene expression data. Both types of feature sets have been widely implemented; however, there has been no work that directly compared the classification performance of these two feature sets. In this paper, we intensively review related works that used both types of feature sets and we also review the implemented machine learning algorithms. Moreover, we run extensive experiments to compare the classification performance of the aforementioned feature sets. Our results show that the image shape-based features are more discriminative for breast cancer classification when tested with ten-fold cross validation. To check the robustness of the best performing feature set, we further examine it with five-fold cross validation and with a variety of generative classification algorithms.

This study was retrospectively designed to investigate differences in physiological variables between positive- and negative-patients in treadmill test for the diagnosis of patients with cardiovascular events and to confirm clinical usefulness of treadmill test. Total leukocyte and neutrophil counts, neutrophils/lymphocytes ratio and mean corpuscular volume were significantly higher, whereas platelet counts were lower in the positive group than in the negative group. Triglyceride and alkaline phosphatase concentrations were significantly higher in the positive group than in the negative group. The patients with abnormal levels of total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol were higher in the positive group than in the negative group, but is reverse in hyperglycemia. High sensitivity C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, lactic dehydrogenase, brain natriuretic peptide, creatinekinase-MB and troponine-I levels in the positive group were significantly greater than those of the negative group. P-, QRS- and T-axis in the EKG were higher whereas PR interval was shorter in the positive group than in the negative group. Most of cardinal symptoms were chest pain (57%) in the both groups. In final diagnosis angina pectoris (53% vs. 37%) and acute myocardial infarction (MI) (10% vs. 3%) were higher in the positive group than in the negative group. Cases of coronary artery angiography (CAG) and medication in the positive group were more than those of the negative group. Cases of normal CAG finding and observation in positive group were more than those of negative group. These data suggest that treadmill test-positive group had higher inflammation, myocardial injury, prevalence of angina pectoris and MI and that treadmill test has clinical usefulness. Also if adults have abnormal range of above mentioned clinical variables, treadmill test is recommended. However, treadmill test is not unique and the best tool for diagnosis of coronary artery disease because the patients with negative finding also had percutaneous coronary intervention and medications.

A rich resource of information on functional genomics data can be applied to annotating the thousands of unknown gene functions that can be retrieved from most sequenced. High-throughput sequencing can lead to increased understanding of proteins and genes. We can infer networks of functional couplings from direct and indirect interactions. The development of gene function prediction is one of the major recent advances in the bioinformatics fields. These methods explore genomic context by major recent advances in the bioinformatics fields rather than by sequence alignment. This paper reviews software related to predicting gene function. Most of these programs are freely available online. The advantages and disadvantages of each program are stated clearly in order for the reader to understand them in a simple way. Web links to the software are provided as well.

The objective of the present study was to examine changes in functional status, performance of activities of daily living (ADLs), and depression between initial onset of stroke and 1 and 3months post-stroke; furthermore, we sought to determine the changes in the correlations between these factors over time. The study subjects were 42 patients, aged 65 years or older, undergoing rehabilitation treatments after being diagnosed with stroke. Evaluations of functional status, performance of ADLs, and depression were performed using Korean versions of the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, Modified Barthel Index, and Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form, respectively. The results showed that changes in functional status, performance of ADLs, and depression between onset of stroke and 1 and 3months post-stroke were statistically significant. Within 1 week from the onset of stroke, there was a significant correlation between the total scores of functional status and performance of ADLs and depression. At 1month post-stroke, there was a significant correlation between the total scores for functional status and performance of ADLs; however, functional status and depression were no longer significantly related, although performance of ADLs was significantly correlated with depression. Finally, at 3monthspost-stroke, significant correlations were found between functional status and performance of ADLs, and between depression and performance of ADLs. Thus, functional status, performance of ADLs, and depression in elderly stroke patients showed significant changes by time since stroke onset. Although functional status and performance of ADLs were consistently correlated over time, depression showed weaker correlations with functional status over time, but showed consistent correlations with performance of ADLs.

Performance, combustion and emission results of the diesel engine fueled with biodiesel blends with cetane improver as additive are presented in this paper. Cetane improver Ethyl Hexyl Nitrate (EHN) as 0.5% and 1% by volume is added as an additive to diesel-biodiesel blends. Experiments were conducted on a single cylinder, four stroke, and naturally aspirated, direct injection diesel engine with the said fuels using Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to analyze the performance, combustion and emissions. Experimental results reveal that both cylinder pressure and Heat Release Rate (HRR) decreased with increase in blend percentage and EGR as well. With increase in EHN percentage, CO and HC emissions decreased considerably while NOx decreased marginally. Smoke increases with increase in both EHN and EGR, however, at a particular EGR, blends with cetane improver present the better performance with improved emissions.

Currently, a microanalysis technology is employed in detection systems in fields such as medical science, food safety, and environmental monitoring, and it is being developed in the form of a lab-on-a-chip. However, the reproducibility and sensitivity of biochips are essential factors for its commercialization. Because this requires accurate temperature control, there should be no errors in the temperature sensor used for the biochip. This paper proposes a system that calibrates the temperature sensor of the biochip by directly heating the biochip and using the difference between the measured values of the temperature sensor attached to the biochip and the precision temperature sensor on the biochip surface. In addition, directly heating the biochip was observed to shorten the time taken to reach the target temperature, compared to the chip calibration by placing it in the constant-temperature water bath. The shortened calibration time of the biochip enables us to realize reduced production cost when the chips are manufactured on a large scale.

The present paper deals with the plant diversity, physico-chemical status of soil and population structure in different forest types/sub types of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The paper described the dominant and co-dominant status of tree, herbs, shrubs, climbers, and grasses species along with density, basal area, and population structure and biodiversity index in different forest types / sub types. Differences in the species composition from site to site could be attributed to climate change. The population structure in different forest types/sub types followed three categories viz; Greater proportion of individuals in the lower girth classes in forest types; Gap phase type, having absence of individuals in certain girth classes in forest type; More individuals in sapling stage and absence in higher classes in a forest type. There is a need to develop climate resilient forest management towards balancing the population structure of different species in different forest types / sub types for increasing the forest productivity.

In this paper, we implemented a system to count breath rate with a non-invasive sensor. The proposed system consists of a pad covered with a piezoelectric sensor, a breath extraction device amplifying and filtering the source signals and sending those to a viewer, and the viewer with a function of sensor data visualization and a breath counting algorithm. A breath counting experiment on three subjects was performed by changing the number of moving averages and values of thresholds. When the window size for moving average was chosen as N = 50~60 and the threshold value for each subject was customized, the proposed system showed less than 5% error rate.
