This paper aims to examine the perceptions of teachers and students at a gifted high school in Central Vietnam about teaching science subjects such as Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology through English. Using questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and class observations as research instruments, this study also explores the challenges the administrators, teachers, and students are facing in adopting English as a medium of instruction (EMI). The findings revealed that leaders, teachers, and students appreciate the project and show interest in EMI, but that its implementation experiences a lot of dilemmas and tensions partly owing to English competence, pedagogical methods, materials, and management. From these findings, the study suggests some implications to help make EMI implementation more applicable and effective at the high school level.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze students' expectance demand towards high school physical education teaching. Methords : 392 participants randomly selected from one girls' middle school and one girl's high school in each of five tracts and then selected two classes from each of the schools. They were asked to respond to a simple questionnaire about their views on the present physical education teaching. Results : Results showed that about one third of the participants would not choose physical education if the program were offered as an optional subject. Both male and female students ranked psychomotor domain as the top priority among the various learning objectives. Male students favored soccer and basketball while their counterparts liked badminton and volleyball. Over three-fourths of the participants suggested that students' opinions should be considered when teachers plan their program. Conclusion : The results of this study recommended that physical education teaching should be designed with considerations for professional values, societal changes as well as students' expectance on the design of physical education.

자음의 기술 항목, 특히 중국어 발음 교육의 측면에서 기술되어야 할 항목은 매우 다양하 다. 말소리의 생성에 관여하는 발동 기관이나 기류의 방향은 차치하고라도 조음 위치, 조음 방법, 기의 수반 여부, 성대의 진동 여부 등은 반드시 기술되어야 할 항목이다. 이들이 중국어 자음의 음색을 결정하는 주요 변수로 작용하기 때문이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현행 고등학교 중국어 교과서의 발음 설명에는 누락되었거나 잘못된 내용이 적지 않다. 이러한 오류는 심리 적 잡음으로 작용하여 교수-학습에 방해가 될 수 있다. 교육 내용의 정확성은 교과서가 갖추 어야 할 가장 중요한 조건이다. 정확성이 확보되어야 효율적인 교수-학습도 의미를 지니게 되기 때문이다. 따라서 교과서에서 발견되는 심리적 잡음을 바로잡음으로써 효율적인 교수- 학습의 기반을 마련할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 2015 개정 교육과정에 맞추어 집필된 11종 고 등학교 중국어 교과서를 대상으로 하여 성모의 발음 설명(조음 방법)에서 드러난 오류를 바로 잡고 부족한 부분은 보탬으로써 교수-학습 효과를 향상시킬 수 있도록 하는 데 궁극적인 목표가 있다.

There are many different items to be described, especially in Chinese pronunciation education. Apart from the initiator or the direction of airstream involved in the production of speech sounds, the place of articulation, the manner of articulation, the presence of aspiration and the vibration of the vocal cords must be described. Nevertheless, there are many missing or incorrect contents in high school textbooks of mandarin. These errors can act as internal noise and interfere with teaching and learning. The accuracy of the contents is the most important condition for textbooks. Effective teaching and learning has meaning only when accuracy is secured. Therefore, it is necessary to lay the foundation for effective teaching and learning by correcting the internal noise found in textbooks. This study is aimed at improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning by correcting the errors found in high school textbooks of mandarin written in accordance with the revised curriculum in 2015.

The purposes of this study were to develop the student activity-centered science textbook model in high school and explore the field application possibility. For development of student activity-centered science textbook model, we conducted a literature survey about foreign science textbook and science curriculum and we developed the textbook development framework based on 7E learning model. Based on framework, we developed student activity-centered science textbook model about achievement standards ‘systems and interaction – earth systems’. A development model is the total amount of five class periods and the various objectives were reflected in pursuit systems thinking & STEAM. 1~4 class periods, learning content composed of student activity-centered exploration activities that organically associated to make final products. Fifth class period was presented to explore job and career. A development model was applied to high school class for one time study. Applying the result of field study, students were responded positively in interested about science class, textbook contents, made final product. Through this study, if science textbook was made on the basis of the revised student activity-centered science textbook model, students were lead to positive change in science class.

This study aims to find out the argument structure which appears in the type of argument class (teacher- and student-centered) of the high school. The argument structure was compared and analyzed according to analyzing the study achievement and verified the academic achievement related to climate change. The results are listed below. First, the student-centered class is more effective method through the result that analyzed the class type of the teacher in argument-centered class. This result is to suggest more effective method to revitalize the argument activity of students-centered class which students plan for themselves and find more various materials. Second, teacher-centered class is more effective in contrast with argument analysis in the academic achievement test. While this is why the teacher-centered class utilizes an essential data necessary to curriculum in the argumentation, the elements to form the argument increased because students utilized the materials with their interest and concern in the process of proving in the student-centered class. Through the results of the research, it is necessary to develop the argument-centered programs for the science class and the curriculum-centered materials for argument class activity.

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교의 창의적 체험활동 편성・운영 실태를 조사하여 현장의 인식 및 요구를 분석하는 것에 있다. 이를 위해 고등학교 현장 교사 460명, 학생 1099명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였으며, 연구의 결과에 근거하여 다음을 제안하였다. 첫째, 시·도 교육청은 지역별 특성을 고려하여 창의적 체험활동의 실제적인 사례와 지역 연계 방안 등을 문서에 반영할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 고등학교의 창의적 체험활동 편성·운영 지침은 고등학교의 특수한 현실을 반영하기에 적합한 방향으로 개선될 필요가 있다. 셋째, 고등학교 창의적 체험활동 중 동아리 활동 활성화 방안을 모색할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 고등학교에서 동아리 활동의 중요성을 감안할 때, 자율동아리 활동과 창의적 체험활동을 긴밀히 연계할 수 있는 방안을 모색할 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 고등학교에서 창의적 체험활동은 교과 교육과정과 상호간 긴밀한 연계를 통해 발전 가능성을 찾을 수 있다.

This study aims to analyze the teachers' perspective to high school creative-experiential activities in the field of education. For this purpose, a survey was conducted to 460 high school teachers and 1,099 high school students. Based on the results, this study concluded the following: first, Metropolitan and Provincial Offices of Education should document the actual examples of creative-experiential activities and possible measures to connect with the local community; second, the guidelines for high school creative-experiential activities should be revised to reflect the realities specific to high school education; third, practical methods to vitalize high school club activities, which is one of the creative-experiential activities, need to be sought; fourth, considering the importance of club activities, they need to be tied more closely to the voluntary club activities; lastly, creative-experiential activities in high school would be able to find improvements through the strong connection with subject curricula.

교육부와 과학기술정보통신부는 소프트웨어교육을 학교현장에 도입시키고 소프트웨어교육의 활성화를 위해 소프트웨어교육 연구학교와 소프트웨어교육 선도학교를 2015년도부터 지정하여 운영해오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2019 SW교육 선도 중고등학교 740개를 대상으로 소프트웨어교육 실태 분석을 통해 SW교육의 준비 현황을 파 악하였다. 또한, 소프트웨어교육 선도학교의 효과를 분석하기 위해 소프트웨어 선도학교로 지정된 중등학교와 비 지정 중등학교인 일반 학교 학생, 교사를 대상으로 만족도와 효과성을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 SW교육 선도 학교 소속 학생, 교사들이 SW교육에 대한 인식이 더 긍정적이고 적극적임을 알 수 있었다.

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology Information and Communication have designated and operated software education research schools and software education leading schools since 2015 to soften the landing of software education on the school site and activate software education. In this study, the current status of SW education was identified by analyzing the actual conditions of 740 leading middle and high schools in 2019 SW education. In addition, in order to analyze the effect of the leading middle and high schools in software education, satisfaction survey and effectiveness analysis were conducted for leading and general school students and teachers. As a result, it was found that students and teachers from leading SW education schools were more positive and active in their perception of SW education.

학교폭력 피해 경험이 청소년의 자해 행동에 미치는 영향 KCI 등재

본 연구는 우리나라 청소년들의 학교폭력 피해 경험이 자해 행동에 미치는 영 향을 파악하기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 2021년에 조사한 ‘10대 청소년의 정신건강 실태 조사’ 원시자료를 이용하여 분석 하였다. 총 5,937명의 초등학생(4-6학년), 중학생, 고등학생이 연구에 포함되었다. 기술통계, Rao-Scott X2 test, t-test, 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석을 SAS 9.2를 이용 하여 분석하였으며, 모든 분석은 가중치를 적용하였다. 초·중·고생의 5.8%는 학교 폭력 피해를 경험한 적이 있었으며, 25.4%의 학생에서 자해 행동이 있었던 것으 로 보고되었다. 단변량 분석 결과 자해행동과 유의한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타난 변수는 다음과 같다: 학교급(고등학생에서 낮음), 가정경제 수준(하에서 높음), 학 업 성적(하에서 높음), 부모의 결혼상태(별거/이혼/사별에서 높음), 자살 위험성 (있는 그룹에서 높음), 음주와 흡연(경험이 있는 그룹에서 높음), 스트레스, 우울 및 불안(자해 행동이 있는 그룹에서 각 점수의 평균이 높음), 자아존중감, 가족 관계의 질 및 학교적응(자해 행동이 없는 그룹에서 각 점수의 평균이 높음). 이 러한 공변량을 보정한 이후에도 학교폭력 경험은 자해 행동에 유의한 영향을 미 치는 것으로 나타났다(AOR: 2.08, 95% CI: 1.55-2.79). 결론적으로, 학교폭력 피 해 경험은 자해 행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 청소년들의 자해를 예방하기 위해서는 학교폭력을 줄일 수 있는 조치가 취해져야 한다. 또한 교육 현장에서는 학교폭력의 피해를 경험하고 있는 학생들이 자해를 하고 있지는 않은지 세심히 살펴보고 이에 적절한 대응을 해야 할 필요가 있는 것으로 생각된다.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the impact of school violence victimization on self-harm experiences among adolescents. Methods: The analysis used raw data from the “2021 National Survey on the Mental Health of Adolescents” conducted by the Korea Youth Policy Institute. A total of 5,937 students, including upper elementary (grades 4–6), middle, and high school students, were included in the study. Descriptive statistics, Rao-Scott χ² tests, t-tests, and multiple logistic regression were conducted using SAS 9.2, with all analyses applying weighting. Results: Among the surveyed students, 5.8% had experienced school violence, and 25.4% reported a experience of self-harm. Univariate analysis showed that self-injury experience was significantly associated with school level (lower in high school), socioeconomic status (higher in lower SES), academic achievement (higher in lower achievers), parental marital status (higher among those with separated/divorced/widowed parents), suicidal tendency (higher in those with suicidal thoughts), school violence (higher among victims), alcohol and tobacco use (higher in users), stress, depression, and anxiety (higher among those with self-harm experience), as well as self-esteem, family quality, and school adjustment (all higher among those without self-harm experience). Even after adjusting for these covariates, school violence victimization remained a significant predictor of self-harm (AOR: 2.08, 95% CI: 1.55–2.79). Conclusion: Experience of school violence has a significant effect on adolescent self-harm. Therefore, in order to prevent self-harm among adolescents, measures to reduce school violence must be implemented. It is also important to carefully assess whether students who have engaged in self-harm are currently experiencing school violence.

The graduates of both vocational high school (VHS) and academic high school (AHS) are in a very keen competition in the labor market in Indonesia. Even though both of them have different goals, but in the fact 40% AHS graduates in Indonesia jump into labor market. So that, this article examines owners’ view point on employability of graduates from VHS and AHS who are working on Indonesia’s fashion creative industry (FCI). Using head to head comparison, twenty-four FCI owners in Indonesia were interviewed. Data were collected through open-ended interviews. A major finding is VHS graduates who are working in FCI more expected to be employees by owners, but they have weaknesses on work attitude, productivity, and adaptability skill. While, AHS graduates have lack on technical skill, but average FCI owners' view point prefer to hire AHS graduates. FCI owners’ strategies to enhance employability both of them are fostering through training and support the employees to join fashion competition.

This study for the relocation of the public education facilities in the special preservation district of the Buyeo ancient city preservation district, has the purpose to propose the Schematic design of the relocation of the current Buyeo women’s high school and library since it has been known to be the palace site of ancient Baekjae. The relocation site is within the boundaries of the Buyeo historical cultural environmental district, having the advantage of securing budget and expropriation of land. Also nearby there are the Buyeo elementary school and middle school which could meet the functions as an educational belt district. However the hill on the northern side of the relocation site has relations with the Buso Mountain and it is known that there are possibilities of excavating ancient facilities of ancient Baekjae and high rise construction plans should be sublated for the protection of the scenery of the ancient city. The result of the study for the Schematic Design of the Buyeo women’s high school and library has the intentions of becoming the precedent guidelines of the relocation of public education facilities in ancient city districts and is a new example of architectural planning for the preservation of ancient city districts and use of historical cultural districts.

The special law for the preservation and development of the ancient capital has been declared in July 21st 2011. The 4 major ancient capitals of the three kingdoms period (B.C.57~A.D.668) which are Buyeo, Gongju and Iksan of the Baekjae dynasty and Gyeongju of the Shilla dynasty were designated as the 4 major ancient cities. The places where the old palaces and temples are selected as the special preservation area and the outskirts of the area is selected as the historical culture environment area these places are lead by the government with systematic management. This study is about the basic investigation related with architectural features for the relocation of the Buyeo girls high school and Buyeo library which are public educational facilities in the historical culture environment area in Buyeo. The contents are including the related laws, current state of the Buyeo ancient city, basic planning for the ancient capital, the architectural character of the Buyeo area for the planning and conducting surveys with related people for the relocation project of the facilities. The study will be studied with detailed basic investigation for the object to perform a proper investigation of the project which is based on the identity of Buyeo which is the ancient capital of Baekjae and adapting the traditional features to modern architecture.

This study is intended to provide a method using multimedia in a history class and analyze the perception of the teachers and the students about utilizing multimedia for a class. The teachers think that multimedia for teaching can encourage students' interests, and if enough materials are offered, they are willing to use them for a class. The teachers pointed the problem that multimedia in a class can distract the students and requires a lot of time for a teacher to prepare, despite the help to enhance the students' achievement in a history class based on multimedia. After experiencing a multimedia class, students showed a change in situational interest; the students felt bored less about the contents of textbooks. In addition, some information difficult to be explained became easier to understand through multimedia materials and students could relate the historical knowledge learned in a class to the real life. Especially, through multimedia for teaching, historical thinking skills and self-directed learning have improved, and the students showed many interests in new data and a variety of multimedia materials presented.

The purpose of this study is to establish English as elective subjects for 11~12 grades in Korean high schools. This study was conducted in the form of survey including a total of 1,923 participants, consists of 728 high school English teachers, 984 high school students, and 939 parents. The questionnaire consisted of nine questions, and which were designed to elicitate the participants perception and needs on English as the elective subjects in high schools. The results of the study indicate that 1) we need the subjects that include 4 skills(listening, speaking, reading, and writing), 2) binding listening and speaking skills together will meet the need of students and parents who want to choose conversation-only subjects, 3) on the other hand, binding reading and writing skills together will meet the needs of the students who want to prepare for establishing the academic basis in the future. 4) Various proficiency in English between students requires various level of the elective subjects in high school English. On the basis of these results, this study suggests we need 1) the subjects which deals with 4 skills on the basis of traditional concept, and 2) ‘listening and speaking’ subjects and ‘reading and writing’ subjects. And the subjects should have various levels between the highest level to the lowest level.

Effects of a School-Based Health Education for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Among High School Girls

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate effects of a school-based health education for cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention among high school girls. Methods: Non-randomized cluster trial was conducted by recruiting two female high schools located in Seoul and allocating one school as a cluster to an experimental group and the other school as the other cluster to a control group. Participants were 169 first-year female high school students in two clusters. Of the participants, 84 were recruited in the experimental group and 85 in the control group. An intervention was an eight-week "School-based Health Education for CVD prevention". The experimental group received the intervention, while the control group received a CVD prevention handout. Measures were knowledge, self-efficacy, and health behaviors for CVD prevention. The pre-test and post-test were conducted. Results: The experimental group participating in "School-Based Health Education for CVD Prevention" had significantly higher changes in knowledge, self-efficacy scores to prevent CVD, and health behaviors than the control group over eight weeks. Conclusions: The "School-based Health Education for CVD Prevention" program may improve high school students' knowledge and self-efficacy as determinants of health behaviors as well as health behaviors to prevent cardiovascular disease.

Trajectories of Depressive Symptoms among Multicultural Middle and High School Adolescents: A Longitudinal Study Using Latent Class Growth Model

Purpose: This study aimed to identify latent classifications based on trajectories of change in depressive symptoms among multicultural adolescents in middle and high school and to identify factors that influence classification. Methods: This study used six time-point data from the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute (NYPI). We longitudinally analyzed data from 2014 to 2019, which corresponds to the participants' middle and high school years. Latent Growth Curve Modeling (LGCM) was used to analyze the depressive developmental trajectories of multicultural youth in middle and high school. Latent Class Growth Modeling (LCGM) was used to determine the number and shape of latent classes according to the type of depression among multicultural adolescents. We applied multinomial logistics regression analysis to explore the predictors of each class. Results: A model with three latent classes was identified: (1) low-decreasing class (intercept=13.34, slope=-0.07, 37.9%), (2) moderate-increasing class (intercept=17.76, slope=0.41, 47.6%), (3) high-increasing class (intercept=23.22, slope=0.44, 14.5%). Multinomial logistic regression showed multicultural adolescents who were male, experienced high acculturative stress and social withdrawal, and had low self-esteem, life satisfaction, and family support tended to belong to either the moderate-increasing or high-increasing class. Conclusion: These findings suggest that preliminary assessments of gender, acculturation stress, self-esteem, life satisfaction, social withdrawal, and family support among multicultural adolescents may be valuable for developing tailored mental health programs.

Psychosocial Factors Associated with Smoking Cessation Attempts in Korean High School Students Who Engage in Intermittent and Light Smoking

Purpose: This study aimed to identify psychosocial factors associated with smoking cessation attempts among Korean high school students who engage in intermittent and light smoking. Methods: Cross-sectional secondary data derived from the 2018 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey were analyzed within the framework of the biopsychosocial model. The sample comprised 829 high school students who reported current intermittent and light smoking, which was defined as cigarette smoking on 1~29 days in a 30-day period and no more than 10 cigarettes per day. Purposeful selection logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: In total, 71.7% (n=586) of the respondents had tried to stop smoking during the past 12 months. The main result was that respondents who had viewed an anti-smoking advertisement in the past year significantly more smoking cessation attempts than those who had not (adjusted odds ratio=2.59; 95% confidence interval=1.45~4.62, p=.001). Conclusion: To encourage smoking cessation attempts among high school students who engage in intermittent and light smoking, healthcare providers, including school and community nurses, should develop effective interventions using anti-smoking advertisements tailored to adolescents’ interests and developmental stage.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with intermittent and light smoking among Korean high school students. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we employed secondary data from the 2015 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey, and used the biopsychosocial model as a framework. The analysis was performed using the data of 2,851 high school students who smoked. We defined intermittent and light smoking as smoking on 1 to 29 days in a 30-day period and no more than 10 cigarettes per day. A logistic regression analysis using the complex samples procedure was conducted. Results: Among all the participants, 1,231 (43.2%) were intermittent and light smokers. Factors significantly predicting intermittent and light smoking were gender and grade (biological factors); subjective stress (psychological factor); and mother's smoking, sibling's smoking and academic achievement (sociocultural factors). Conclusion: In smoking cessation programs, health care providers both at school and in the community should consider the unique biological, psychological, and sociocultural characteristics of intermittent and light smoking behavior among high school students.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of an adolescent obesity management educational program (AOMEP) on middle and high school teachers. Methods: A quasiexperimental, pretest post-test design was performed to test primary variables, including adolescent obesity management knowledge, attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and behavioral intention based on the concepts presented in the Theory of Planned Behavior. Results: A total of 61 teachers participated. The experimental group (n = 30) received 15 hours of AOMEP, whereas the control group (n = 31) did not receive any. The experimental group showed significant improvement in knowledge (t = 2.53, d = .65, p = .014) and attitude (t = 2.77, d = .71, p = .008) toward adolescent obesity management compared to the control group. However, there were no significant differences in perceived behavioral control or behavioral intention between the groups. Conclusions: AOMEP may be utilized as an effective obesity management program for adolescent students in schools.
