Improving Mobile Robot Robustness in Visual Servoing Application

This paper proposes a novel method to improve mobile robot robustness with respect to kinematic modeling errors during visual servoing task. Instead of using first-order error-dynamics, as it is usually done, we use the second-order error-dynamics leading to a new control law. The main aim of this approach is to guarantee a robust visual servoing scheme. In fact, the new control law ensures the convergence of the mobile robot to its desired pose even in the presence of modeling errors. Experimental results are presented to validate our approach and to demonstrate its efficiency.

In this paper, a method for analysis high order transfer function system via two dimensional Haar transforms is proposed. A high order transfer function system can be transformed and simplified to a low order system that has same system response. For these, fast Haar function seriesthat is a complete set of orthogonal rectangular functions similar in several respects of the Walsh functionsand two dimensional Haar transform algorithm are applied. And the results are simulated in time and frequency domain. The suggested method is more efficient and convenient for simplification of high order system.

Online Cutting Temperature Measurement System Based Thermocouple

In order to measure cutter temperature, the on-line thermocouple temperature measurement system was proposed. In this system, temperature sensing element thermocouple was welded in the flank face close to the cutting edge with double bare wires welding way. With this method, this system has advantages of a single point temperature measurement and no effect on cutter temperature distribution. For a higher sampling rate, two AD were used to sample alternately; and for the convenient signal transmission when the cutter is rotating at high speed, wireless transmission was adopted to transmit thermocouple output signal and cold side temperature signal to the host computer. After temperature compensation to the cold side, the compensated temperature will be real-time displayed, stored and played back. System measurement range is 0 ~ 1300 ° C, and the measurement uncertainty is 0.58%. For 8000rpm rotational speed of XH714D machine, experimental results show that the system can measure cutter temperature online, and has advantages of low cost and great practicability.

Fuel Economy Analysis of a Series Hybrid Electric Bus with Low-Speed Shutdown Control Strategy

The series hybrid electric bus that is demonstrated operating in China has the problem of non-ideal fuel economy for the conventional auxiliary equipment can’t shut down the engine. Based on the series hybrid electric bus using electric auxiliary equipment, a control strategy is proposed based on the combination of engine low-speed shutdown and load following. The main control variables are battery SOC and vehicle speed, and the engine low-speed shutdown is realized. Three different driving cycles are employed: Chinese city driving cycle, Zhuzhou city of Hunan province driving cycle, and Hefei city of Anhui province driving cycle. By using the analysis method of the energy flow diagram, the fuel economy in different driving cycles is compared and analyzed. The simulation results show that the control strategy of the engine low-speed shutdown affects little on fuel economy in different driving cycles. All the fuel-saving ratios of the series hybrid system in different driving cycles can reach above 25%.

Design of an Extensive Emergency Rescue Service for Electric Vehicles

This paper designs and develops an emergency rescue service for electric vehicles (EVs), which may suffer from the battery depletion during their trips. After building relevant data models on both chargers and EVs, our design defines the interaction among three parties of EV drivers, the rescue server, and rescue vehicles to responsively process the dispatch request and systematically meet the user requirement. Particularly, a comprehensive mobile application is developed on the Android operating system to help users to promptly send a rescue request to the server and monitor the request processing status. This user interface allows EV drivers to automatically specify their locations and necessary personal information as well as to view the distribution of emergency vehicles through user-friendly maps. Our design is scalable for a large number of emergency vehicles and rescue requests, accelerating the wide deployment of EVs in our daily lives. Moreover, the rescue system design can collaborate with an EV tracking system and charge reservation agents to create a more sophisticated EV information service.

Privacy preserving data mining is a research area concerned with the privacy driven from personally identifiable information when considered for data mining. This paper addresses the privacy problem by considering the privacy and algorithmic requirements simultaneously. The objective of this paper is to implement an association rule hiding algorithm for privacy preserving data mining which would be efficient in providing confidentiality and improve the performance at the time when the database stores and retrieves huge amount of data. This paper compares the performance of proposed algorithm with the two existing algorithms namely ISL and DSR.

The level of services in an information system is determined by the level of performance provided by the hardware of the system, such as the servers and the network, and the software, such as the application. Of these, the performance of the hardware is significantly affected by the specifications determined at the time of the initial implementation of the system. Therefore, when one implements a system, it should be ensured that hardware models of sufficient performance specification are selected in order to reach the targeted performance level. However, it is also apparent that high-performance hardware requires a higher investment. Therefore, from the perspective of the IT systems manager of an organization, it is important when the system is implemented to choose the hardware models that can come as close to the targeted performance level as possible within the budgetary limit. To solve this problem, organizations present instructions to calculate the appropriate scales of information system hardware. However, as these instructions are based on the capacity expected during the initial system implementation planning in the earlier stage, there are limitations in using these to establish operation plans, as deterioration in performance as the system is being operated should be anticipated. It is for this reason, in this study, that we developed an algorithm for the simulation model that can estimate the performance of the hardware not only for the initial implementation of the system but also during its operation phase.

The Virtual Reality (VR) technique based on computer graphics has been rapidly evolving over the years. VR has emerged to set a trend for developing applications and virtual environments. This paper introduces the trend and features through case studies about the game contents system for immersive interaction among these virtual reality techniques. The proposed methodology utilizes the Unified Modeling Language (UML) for immersive systems intended for future games using a virtual reality technique. The modeling of the design has been compared with using the flowchart methodology to verify its significance.

In this paper we propose the use of cloud services to delivery next-generation dynamic mobile interface. The improvement is focused on existing soft keyboard application. Through a simple sign-in process, the customized keyboard interfaced defined by user own can by synced, stored on the cloud and ready to be apply on other compatible devices of the same user in anytime. With cloud based interface, through specific username and password, various smart mobile devices are able to receive their custom interface. Also, we use Gyro Sensor and Wi-Fi direct to help the users freely share their layout through the internet.
