This study aims to investigate the difference of job stress between male and female dental hygienists working in the industry of dental clinics, and explore measures to effectively manage increasing job stress of male dental hygienists in Korea and lower their turnover rate. The research selected 229 male and female dental hygienists who have dental hygienist license, work at dental clinics or dental hospitals in Korea, and are registered in Korean Dental Hygienists Association as a population. 110 male dental hygienists were surveyed by complete enumeration, while female dental hygienists were selected by convenient sampling. Data were collected from Jun 10 to Jul 7, 2017. Survey sheets were distributed via email, and a total of 229 out of retrieved questionnaires were finally analyzed. 1. Descriptive analysis of main factors according to general characteristics of male dental hygienists showed that the average score of turnover intention, job satisfaction and job stress were 3.47, 2.94 and 2.93, respectively, out of 5. Meanwhile, their counterparts’ average score of turnover intention, job satisfaction and job stress were 3.39, 3.05 and 2.96. 2. Independent variables affecting male dental hygienists’ turnover intention were workplace (p<0.05) and affiliated department (p<0.05). As for job satisfaction, the higher the job satisfaction, the lower the turnover intention (p<0.01). 3. Independent variables affecting female dental hygienists’ turnover intention were position at the hospital (p<0.05) and number of employees (p<0.01). As job stress gets higher, so does turnover intention (p<0.01). 4. Multiple regression analysis for exploring the effects on dental hygienists’ turnover intention revealed that as job stress increases, so does turnover intention (p<0.001), and the higher the job satisfaction, the lower the turnover intention (p<0.001). The study revealed that male dental hygienists had higher turnover intention and lower job satisfaction compared to female dental hygienists. This indicates that male dental hygienists may lower job efficiency and have difficulty in adapting to the dental hygienist group as the minority. Thus, it is necessary to standardize tasks considering the characteristics of men and women and establish stress management strategy. Moreover, relevant organizations need to perform studies continuously for male dental hygienists to help increase job satisfaction and lower turnover intention in the future.

The purpose of this study is to find out the current status of dental hygiene education in dental hygiene education and conservative education. The analysis of the current status of the curriculum on the ethics of dental hygiene through the homepage of each university and the analysis of the subject of the maintenance education of the dental hygienist of Korea are as follows. 1. As for the operation status of the dental hygiene education course, 5 courses (41.6%) were in the 3rd grade and 3 classes (25.0%) in the 1st grade and 2 (16.7%) were opened. 2 credits (16.7%) and 1 credit (1%) were 8.3%, 2 credits were given to 9 credits (75.0%), while 2 credits were awarded credits. And the necessity of ethical education for dental hygiene is still emphasized, research results show that there is still a shortage of credits and hours allocated to dental hygiene education at university. Therefore, it is urgent to give the number of courses or credit in the department. 2. In the case of the teachers in charge, ‘Time lecturer’ is the most responsible for the ethics education of the dental hygienist in 7 schools (58.3%), while in the case of the professors in the industry, 2 schools (16.7% There were three schools (25%). In the 12 universities in which the ethics courses for dental hygiene were established, the number of dental hygienic ethics teachers was one (100%). Efforts must be made to secure the full-time professors, to develop the dental hygiene materials, and to develop various methods of ethical education for dental hygienists. 3. From 2012 to 2016, a survey was conducted on the general academic conferences of the Korea Dental Hygienists Association, the city and city council conferences, academic societies and affiliated organizations, 1 in 2013 and 2014, 7 in 2015, and 4 in 2016. The purpose of this study was to closely examine how the satisfaction plays a role as a mediating variable of reuse and positive promotion through analyzing the satisfaction with dental institutions of being used by the rapidly-growing elderly population and through investigating the influence of users' satisfaction upon intention of reuse. The following conclusions were elicited. First, the satisfaction at dental institutions in Mokpo area as the subject of this study appeared to be relatively high level. Especially, the satisfaction with dentists and dental hygienists stood at 4.30 points and 4.39 points, respectively, thereby having shown a very high outcome. And as a result of having surveyed the intention of public relations, the intention of recommending to people around, and the intention of a preferential choice in terms of the reuse, a slightly high level was indicated with 4.26 points, 4.29 points, and 4.20 points. Second, in consequence of having surveyed a difference in dental service satisfaction depending on general characteristics, the satisfaction at the facilities & environment, and at dental hygienists showed a difference according to gender. Men were surveyed to have a higher satisfaction than women. A statistical significance was indicated. Compared to National Health Insurance participants, the Medical Aid Beneficiaries were surveyed to have a higher satisfaction with the facilities & environment, with reception & administration, and with dental hygienists. Third, as a result of having surveyed a correlation between the dental institution satisfaction and the reuse-related question, a positive correlation was shown in all of the satisfaction with the intention of public relations, with the intention of recommending to people around, and with the intention of preferential choice. Thus, it could be known that the higher satisfaction leads to getting higher even in possibility of reuse. In this way, the satisfaction at dental institutions has positive influence upon selecting and re-using dental clinics. Hence, the dental institutions need to constantly strive to improve quality of medical service. To do this, a positive effort and investment should be made. A systematic program is considered to be likely necessary for reinforcing service quality and intensifying competitive edge. And to promote the dental institution's service quality based on the results of this study, it is considered to be likely needed introduction and activation of the dental institution accreditation system. Many dental institutions were changed now in comparison with the past. But the dental institution accreditation system is being autonomously enforced, thereby causing polarization in an institution with the execution of dental institution accreditation system and in an institution with its opposite case. Accordingly, an institutional device is needed that can supplement this. There is a need to establish the specialized and organized quality control system in order to step up quality of medical service.
