The purpose of this study aims to identify the current status of dental health education performed at dental clinics and the correlation between patients’ attitude toward and awareness about dental health. Adult patients conveniently sampled from the period February 2011 to April 2011 at 13 dental hospitals/clinics in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do were surveyed. The collected data were analyzed using statistical package PASW 18.0. Frequency analysis, correlation analysis, chi-square, t-test and ANOVA were utilized. The investigation on the relation between the patients’ attitude toward and awareness about dental health showed that the level of awareness about dental health was higher among patients who were concerned about dental health, had received dental health education, felt the need for dental health education, or practiced what they learned from dental health education. Factors that influenced awareness about dental health included greater concern about dental health, history of receiving dental health education, and recognition of need for dental health education. 1. If changes in behavior were examined in this study participated in the oral health education. Response was 72.7% of the respondents to participate in the oral health education. Oral health education and behavioral changes in most of time, increasing the frequency of tooth brushing and the use of Oral Care, regular cleanings in order. 2. T-test to determine the oral health awareness and relevance respondents' personal characteristics and oral health attitudes in women than in men higher degree of awareness and attention on oral health, oral health education experience,If you feel the need for oral health education, after receiving oral health education practice, the degree of awareness of oral health was significantly higher. 3. Multiple regression analyzes were performed to identify factors that affect the oral health awareness. Higher interest on oral health, oral health education experience is that there is a need for oral health education were the variables that affect oral health awareness. Results showed that dental health education provided at dental clinics was associated with increased level of patients’ awareness about dental health. Thus, it is believed that more systematic education program to be provided at dental clinics should be established.

The purpose of this study was to research about communication of dental medical workers. The proper mutual communication among dental medical workers can heighten satisfaction of patients. A survey was performed on 440 subjects (dentist and dental hygienist) living capital area from Jun to August in 2011. There search tool was a structured questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed by frequency, descriptive, chi-square test, Independent t-test and Bivariate logistic regression by Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 12.0. 1. ‘Dental health care personnel in patient satisfaction and impact of communication that there is’ 4.13 for dentists and dental hygienists were surveyed by 4.11. 2. Efforts to communicate information, ’many conversations‘ with 45.8 percent dentists, dental hygienists, 65.0% were examined at the highest level. 3. ‘Communication of dental medical workers is effect in patient satisfaction' appeared Likert's 5 scale more than 4points (p=0.005). When communication with companions were smooth, influenced on remake decrease of dental prosthesis (p=.000). A remake of dental prosthesis influenced in patient satisfaction (p=.023). When the mutual communication of dental clinic-dental laboratory was smooth, it will influence on the remake decrease of dental prosthesis (p=0.041). 4. Communication related factors that affect the dentist - gender, age, residence, career and there was a significant difference in the communication and dental hygienists - age, residence, work experience, education was a significant difference in the communication. The proper communication among dental workers heighten patient satisfaction with reducing are make of dental prosthesis. Therefore dental workers must exactly share information of patients, and try more to heighten satisfaction of patient.

This thesis is to understand mother’s dental health beliefs and knowledge of orthodontic treatment, examine the effects that these elements have on the perception of children’s proper orthodontic treatment point of time, and recognize proper orthodontic treatment knowledge. Through these processes, the thesis is willing to be utilized as educational resource of oral health for improving the recognition of proper orthodontic treatment time. The self-answering questionnaire was conducted to 588 mothers whose children were attending kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and universities in Daegu. The results of this study are as follows; According to the result from conducting regression analysis between sociodemographic factors and importance of oral belief, statistically, the age significantly had negative relationship and the number of children as well as occupation of the mothers significantly had positive relationship. According to the result from conducting regression analysis between sociodemographic factors and seriousness of oral belief, statistically, the age significantly had positive relationship and the number of children significantly negative relationship. According to the result from conducting regression analysis between sociodemographic factors and oral health knowledge, statistically, the age significantly had positiverelationship and with oral health education. The more oral health knowledge one had, the less one is aware of proper orthodontic treatment timing. The more knowledge about orthodontic treatment one had, the more awareness about proper orthodontic treatment timing one had. The benefit of oral health belief and recognition of proper orthodontic treatment timing showed inverse relationship. Meanwhile, seriousness of oral health and recognition of proper orthodontic treatment timing showed direct relationship. Consequently, we have to try to prevent and treatmalocculusion through educating orthodontic treatment to housekeepers, and mothers in low-income family and with more children.

The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of dental personnels on the electronic medical record system. The subjects in this study were 281 dental personnels who worked in dental hospitals and clinics in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. A self-administered survey was conducted from January 30 to February 15, 2011, and the statistical package SPSS WIN 11.5 was employed to analyze the collected data. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. 76.8 percent felt the need for the EMR system. 82.6 percent of the users replied that the system affected their profit, and 76.8 percent answered that the system served to boost profit. 2. As for the treatment-related efficiency of the EMR, the system was considered to be most efficient in terms of the utilization of patient data, followed by management of patient counseling, substitution of paper charts, diagnosis, combined treatment and profit increase. 3. The biggest problem that they faced during the use of the EMR was the deteriorated performance of the system and the network such as frequent breakdown. The second biggest problem was that the help service, maintenance and operating support were not sufficient, and the third greatest problem was that the system just provided radiographs. The separate operation of the system and paper charts that gave them inconvenience was the fourth biggest problem, and the fifth largest problem was that it's just possible to make a simple insurance claim. The sixth biggest problem was that the system only offered simple oral pictures. 4. Regarding the relationship between experience of using the EMR and awareness of its informatization effect, the users considered the system to have a better informatization effect in terms of the utilization of the Internet and EDI claim than the nonusers, and the gap between the two was statistically significant. 5. Concerning the relationship between experience of using the EMR and awareness of problems with informatization, the nonusers replied there were more problems with the system than the users in relation to economic burden, unskilled use of computer, fear for the possible loss of patient data, insufficient education, and inadequate standardization of dental information. The gap between the two was statistically significant. 6. As to the relationship between awareness of the necessity of the installation of the EMR and perception of its informatization effect, the respondents who felt the need for that replied that the system was of more use for the use of the Internet, EDI claim, production and utilization of all sorts of statistical data, cooperation with other medical institutions, improvement of the image of dental hospital or clinic and patient satisfaction, and the gap between them and the others was statistically significant.

This study was conducted in order to be leveraged as a basic data in planing and operating efficient clinical practices through analyzing stress factors that dental hygienists were experiencing from trainees during clinical practices. The following results were obtained from analyzing some dental hygienists using SPSS 20.0 for 227 copies, who were working at dental university hospitals, general hospitals, dental hospitals and dental clinics of Seoul and Gyeonggi-do where the clinical practices were being conducted by the dental hygiene students의 clinical practice. 1. There were 41.9% of “Satisfied”, 55.5% of “Neutral” and 2.6% of "Dissatisfied". Of those "Satisfied", the group of 1~2 year students and the group of 6~10 year students had a high degree of satisfaction with 27.4%; of “Neutral”, the group of 3~5 year students had the highest percentange with 31.0%. 2. Upon analyzing differences of the stress types that the subjects of this study felt, role and activity was the highest with 26.17, and personal relationship (20.82), behavior and attitude (20.63), areas of medical treatment (12.60), ideal and value (10.61) followed. It was shown that there was a significant difference per between role and activity, ideal and value and areas of medical treatment per class year. 3. Upon analyzing the correlation between the stress areas, it was shown that there was the positive correlation between the stress sections of behavior and attitude, personal relationship, role and activity, ideal and value, areas of medical treatment. 4. Upon analyzing the impact of the stress factors on the degree of satisfaction,, it was shown that the stress sections of role and activity (p=.002<.01), ideal and value (p=.019<.05), areas of medical treatment (p=.032<.05) had an impact on the degree of satisfaction; the stress sections of behavior and attitude (p=.386>.05), personal relationship (p=.421>.05) did not have an impact on the degree of satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to examine the dietary habit knowledge and oral health behavior of teachers and those of the guardians of students at a special school in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of oral health care and facilitate the development of oral health care programs. The subjects in this study were 128 teachers and guardians at a special school for elementary and secondary youth with hearing impairment in Seoul. A self-administered survey was conducted from April 30 to May 4, 2012, and the statistical package SPSS WIN 11.5 was employed to analyze the collected data. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. As for the characteristics of oral health behavior involving daily toothbrushing frequency, the largest group (64.1%) brushed their teeth three times a day. The rates of those who brushed their teeth before breakfast, after breakfast, after lunch, after eating between meals and before sleeping respectively stood at 25.8, 78.9, 75.8, 7.8 and 45.3 percent. 68.0 percent made use of oral hygiene supplies. 2. Concerning the toothbrushing behavior of the guardians of the disabled students, 78.9 percent brushed their teeth within three minutes after having a meal. 74.2 percent always took three minutes or more to do toothbrushing, and 78.1 percent closely brushed their tongue as well. 34.4 percent put oral hygiene supplies to use. 3. Among the guardians of the disabled students, 54.4 percent visited a dental clinic over the last year. 34.4 percent had their teeth cleaned on a regular basis, and 32.1 percent got dental checkups to prevent oral diseases. 4. Regarding the oral health behavior of the students by the type of guardian, whether they had the students brushed their teeth within three minutes after having a meal was asked, and the teachers (4.29±.871) and the parents (4.04±.887) (p<0.05). As a result of asking them whether they had the students get their teeth cleaned on a regular basis or not, the teachers scored highest (3.38±1.155) and the parents (2.69±1.125) (p<0.05). As to another question whether they had the students get dental checkups for the prevention of oral diseases, the teachers scored highest (3.32±1.47), followed by the parents (2.62±1.091) (p<0.05). 5. In regard to the correlation of oral health behavior, those who spent three minutes or more brushing their teeth all the time closely brushed their tongue as well (p<0.01), made use of oral hygiene supplies (p<0.01), visited a dental clinic over the past year (p<0.05), had their teeth cleaned (p<0.01) and got regular dental checkups to prevent oral diseases (p<0.01).
