The purpose of this study was to investigate learning motivation, learning attitude and self-directed learning in collaborative learning. For this study, sampled 31 dental hygiene students, period of 1 semester, Dept of Dental Hygiene, H University. statistical verification conducted pared t- test through SPSS 18.0. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Students were increased positive change in learning motivation(concentration and self confidence) after collaborative learning (p<0.05). 2. Students were increased positive change in learning attention(preparation and self Participation) after collaborative learning (p<0.05). 3. Students were increased positive change in self-directed learning and self-efficacy after collaborative learning (p<0.05). 4. collaborative learning satisfaction was higher in learning process (self-directed learning, communication) and learning effect (Utilization in the clinical situation, Medical thinking and judgment, Disease diagnostic capabilities) more than direct instruction (p<0.05). In conclusion, collaborative learning for dental hygiene students education was more effective in learning motivation, learning attitude and self-directed learning. therefore this study suggest that collaborative learning contribute to enhancing learning effect throught self-directed learning.

However, the significant difference was indicated in oral health perception, oral health knowledge, oral health attitude, and oral health practice. 2. As for items on functional limitation out of OHIP, the significant difference was shown according to oral health perception in 6 items among totally 9 items. 3. As for items on physical pain out of OHIP, the significant difference was shown according to oral health perception in 6 items among totally 9 items. 4. As for items on psychological distress out of OHIP, the significant difference was shown according to oral health perception in all of 5 items among totally 5 items. 5. As for items on physical, psychological, and social abilities out of OHIP, the significant difference was shown according to oral health perception in 15 items among totally 26 items. Synthesizing the above results, the higher in school year and the more increase in credits completed for major subjects lead to having influence upon OHIP (Oral Health Impact Profile). In light of this, the increase in an opportunity of oral health education for people is considered to lead to likely bringing finally about improvement in quality of life through OHIP.

First, the knowledge level on oral health education has been improved significantly as a whole. Second, even with the improvement of oral health behaviors through the education, there was hardly significant on such behaviors as regular checkups and dental floss. Third, the effect of S -PHP index looked to be gradually decreased over the education sessions, with the change of brushing administration. Fourth, overall the students has been satisfied with the program educator, but not for the education methods. Taken together the those results, for the oral health promotion in high school students the education should be to be emphasized on the behavior-change objectives rather than on the knowledge-based objectives. In addition, to prevent the recurrence to the old bad behaviors there must be required the ongoing oral health education as well as the development of educational methods attracting the attention. In considering of their oral growth, particularly, such a education content as plaque removal or prophylaxis needs to be included in the further advanced education. It can be said that this study has its significance, in providing its results and implications could be used as the basic data for further developing systematic materials on the oral health education in the high school students.

This survey was conducted 133 dental hygienists and dental assistants in dental clinics located in Jeollanam-do. The data were collected by using the self-administered survey method. Collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS Window ver.12.0 (SPSS Inc, Kor) statistics program. 1. 60.7% of dental hygienists and dental assistants had experiences in infection control education. As for the age group, 73.9% of dental hygienists and dental assistants in their twenties experienced infection control education, which was higher than the figure of 46.9% of dental hygienists and dental assistants over the age of 30.
