As to pain in soft tissues, the greatest group(47.1%) felt no pain in their soft tissues. In terms of pain during mastication, the largest group(49.6%) suffered a pain during their mastication. The most dominant toothbrushing frequency was twice or more(47.1%), and the biggest group(80.3%) received no toothbrushing education. Out of the elements of oral hygiene care, toothbrushing frequency was linked to the number of remaining teeth. 5. The number of remaining teeth exerted a significant influence on experience of pain in soft tissues, experience of pain in mastication and toothbrushing frequency. A larger number of remaining teeth led to less experience of pain in soft tissues and less experience of pain in mastication, and a larger number of remaining teeth led to higher toothbrushing frequency. The above-mentioned findings suggest that in order to step up the oral health promotion of the elderly, elderly people themselves should try to be in good oral health, and the government and local communities should make a concerted effort to push ahead with successful senior welfare policies or revitalize senior oral health education programs.

There are growing needs among medical consumers for advanced medical service due to improved national economy and the development of medical technology, and the diversification and specialization of dental hygiene occupation are being accelerated in response to their needs. Concerning satisfaction level, the majority of the respondents expressed just an mediocre level of satisfaction or responded they were dissatisfied. 3. The dental hygienists got 2.98 in constraints to self-development. Among the types of constraints, they faced lots of economic constraints , and there weren't a lot of human constraints. 4. The respondents who faced more time constraints or personal barriers had less time to pursue job-oriented, art-oriented or personal self-development. Those who were confronted with more economic barriers had less time to pursue job-oriented or personal self- development, and the respondents who faced more human barriers had less time to pursue art-oriented self-development. Those who were confronted with more social barriers had less time to pursue job-oriented or art-oriented self-development. Given the above-mentioned findings of the study, dental hygienists should be given more opportunities to put their efforts into self- development to relieve job stress, reduce turnover rate and boost job involvement and job satisfaction. Besides, what makes it difficult for them to pursue self-development should accurately be grasped to improve the efficiency of human resources management of dental institutions.
