This study relates to a composition for improvement of memory or prevention and treatment of cognitive impairment using waste resources rich in beneficial substances. This study makes good effects to inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase in brain tissue and to improve the cognitive functions in a simulation model of cognitive impairment induced by scopolamine, so it can be available in the promotion of memory and the prevention and treatment of cognitive impairment. The composition uses the extract of fruit peels, which have long been used without causing toxicity in a wide range of food applications; therefore, it can be used safely without a risk of side effects, even in the case of a long-term administration for the preventive purpose. Furthermore, this research is a very beneficial invention in the environment-friendly aspect in association with the recycling of resources, as it is based on the novel efficacies of fruit peels, which have been conventionally disposed as a refuse of fruits due to their poor sensory qualities despite the content of beneficial substances.

In the field of surveillance cameras, it is possible to increase the people detection accuracy by using depth information indicating the distance between the camera and the object. In general, depth information is obtained by calculating the parallax information of the stereo camera. However, this method is difficult to operate in real time in the embedded environment due to the large amount of computation. Jetson TX2, released by NVIDIA in March 2017, is a high-performance embedded board with a GPU that enables parallel processing using the GPU. In this paper, a stereo camera is installed in Jetson TX2 to acquire depth information in real time, and we proposed a people counting method using acquired depth information. Experimental results show that the proposed method had a counting accuracy of 98.6% and operating in real time.

Nowadays multiple control methods are used in robot control systems. A model, predictor or error estimator is often used as feedback controller to control a robot. While robots have become more and more intensive with algorithms capable to acquiring independent knowledge from raw data. This paper represents experimental results of real time machine learning control that does not require explicit knowledge about the plant. The controller can be applied on a broad range of tasks with different dynamic characteristics. We tested our controller on the balancing problem of a single propeller pendulum. Experimental results show that the use of a supervised machine learning algorithm in a single propeller pendulum allows the stable swing of a given angle.

In wireless communication, efficient spectrum usage is an issue that has been an attractive research area for many technologies. Recently new technologies innovations allow compact radios to transmit with power efficient communication over very long distances. For example, Low-Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) are an attractive emerging platform to connect the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Especially, LoRa is one of LPWAN technologies and considered as an infrastructure solution for IoT. End-devices use LoRa protocol across a single wireless hop to communicate to gateway(s) connected to the internet which acts as a bridge and relays message between these LoRa end-devices to a central network server. The use of the (ISM) spectrum sharing for such long-range networking motivates us to implement spectrum sensing testbed for cognitive radio network based on LoRa and GNU radio. In cognitive radio (CR), secondary users (SUs) are able to sense and use this information to opportunistically access the licensed spectrum band in absence of the primary users (PUs). In general, PUs have not been very receptive of the idea of opportunistic spectrum sharing. That is, CR will harmfully interfere with operations of PUs. Subsequently, there is a need for experimenting with different techniques in a real system. In this paper, we implemented spectrum sensing for cognitive radio networks based on LoRa and GNU Radio, and further analyzed corresponding performances of the implemented systems. The implementation is done using Microchip LoRa evolution kits, USRPs, and GNU radio.

Lattice-reduction (LR) techniques have been developed for signal detection in spatial multiplexing multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems to obtain the largest diversity gain. Thus, an LR-assisted zero-forcing (ZF) receiver can achieve the maximum diversity gain in spatial multiplexing MIMO systems. In this paper, a simplified analysis of the achievable diversity gain is presented by fitting the channel coefficients lattice-reduced by a complex Lenstra-Lenstra-Lováz (LLL) algorithm into approximated Gaussian random variables. It will be shown that the maximum diversity gain corresponding to two times the number of receive antennas can be achieved by the LR-based ZF detector. In addition, the approximated bit error rate (BER) expression is also derived. Finally, the analytical BER performance is comparatively studied with the simulated results.

This study is to identify the effects of hypertension management program at a community health center on the disease-related knowledge, self-efficacy, anthropometric measurements and blood pressure of a hypertensive patient in local community. This study is a quasi-experimental study using nonequivalence control group no-synchronized design in order to verify the effects of the hypertension management program at a community health center on the hypertension-related knowledge, self-efficacy, anthropometric measurements and blood pressure of a hypertensive patient in local community. The result indicated a significant difference between the experimental group and control group in the scores of hypertension-related knowledge (t=-4.25, p<.001), self-efficacy (t=-4.20, p<.001), systolic blood pressure (t=7.70, p<.001) and diastolic blood(t=5.91, p<.001), body weight(t=2.32, p=.026) and abdominal circumference(t=2.17, p=.036). The hypertensive patients' knowledge and self-efficacy were improved, and their weight and abdominal circumference as well as systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were reduced. Therefore, it was confirmed that multilateral approaches in terms of physical and psychosocial aspects only targeting hypertensive patients were required for managing hypertensive patients in local community.

A Location Register(LR) system manages each subscriber’s location information, which continuously changes in mobile cellular network. For this purpose, the LR database system provides backup management facilities. The objectives of this paper are to identify the problems of the current LR system through rigorous analysis, to suggest solutions to them. I proposed efficient backup methods that takes into account the characteristics of LR database transactions. In the proposed backup method, I use two kinds of dirty flags in order to solve the performance degradation problem caused by frequent registration- location operations.

In recent years, indoor simulated sports have become widely used, and screen baseball system has emerged that can play baseball in indoor space. In this paper, we propose a virtual pitching system that can improve the realism of screen baseball game. This virtual pitching system is characterized in that it uses a transmissive screen in the form of a pitching machine without a pitching hole and installed on the back of the screen. Therefore, unlike existing systems where pitching holes are formed on the screen, it enhances the immersion feeling of displayed images. Also, in this pitching system, the synchronization algorithm between the pitching machine and the virtual pitcher is used to form a sense of unity between the virtual pitcher and the ball according to various types of virtual pitchers, thereby enhancing the reality of baseball games.

This study focuses on presenting the IT program module provided by BKLS measure in order to solve the problem of capital cost due to information asymmetry of external investors and corporate executives. Barron at al(1998) set up a BKLS measure to guide the market by intermediate analysts. The BKLS measure was measured by using the changes in the analyst forecast dispersion and analyst mean forecast error squared. This study suggests a model of the algorithm that the BKLS measure can be provided to all investors immediately by IT program in order to deliver the meaningful value in the domestic capital market as measured. This is a method of generating and analyzing real-time or non-real-time prediction models by transferring the predicted estimates delivered to the Big Data Log Analysis System through the statistical DB to the statistical forecasting engine. Because BKLS measure is not carried out in a concrete method, it is practically very difficult to estimate the BKLS measure. It is expected that the BKLS measure of Barron at al(1998) introduced in this study and the model of IT module provided in real time will be the starting point for the follow-up study for the introduction and realization of IT technology in the future..

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has appeared as an absorbing architectural approach that empowers the available systems to reveal their performance in the act of services, without creating important changes to the systems. This approach, due to its flexibility of adoption, has been widely recognized as an appropriate approach for implementing in organizations by many scholars and practitioners. Though, there are many studies that depict success factors of SOA; at the same time a few minor cases of failure has also been reported in the literature. In spite of the availability of rich material on SOA (in general), there is no systematic literature review on the potential aspect of SOA adoption factors. Hence, this article presents a systematic review of existing studies related to the SOA adoption and its success and failure factors from 2009 to 2015. The principle purpose of the study is to bring forward the existing issues and share our findings with researchers. Moreover, the findings of this paper would help IT experts in organizations to concentrate on the key factors highlighted in this study, so that they could decide whether it is advisable to adopt SOA or not in their context.

In this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant scheduling scheme with energy efficiency for real-time periodic tasks on DVFS-enabled multicore processors. The scheme provides the tolerance of a permanent fault with the primary-backup task model. Also the scheme reduces the energy consumption of real-time tasks with the fully overlapped execution between each primary task and its backup task, whereas most of previous methods tried to minimize the overlapped execution between the two tasks. In order to the leakage energy loss of idle cores, the scheme activates a part of available cores with rarely used cores powered off. Evaluation results show that the proposed scheme saves up to 82% energy consumption of the previous method.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive filtering scheme of connection requests for the defense of malicious energy consumption attacks against wireless computing devices with limited energy budget. The energy consumption attack tries to consume the battery energy of a wireless device with repeated connection requests and shut down the wireless device by exhausting its energy budget. The proposed scheme blocks a connection request of the energy consumption attack in the middle, if the same connection request is repeated and its request result is failed continuously. In order to avoid the blocking of innocuous mistakes of normal users, the scheme gives another chance to allow connection request after a fixed blocking time. The scheme changes the blocking time adaptively by comparing the message arriving ate during non-blocking period and that during blocking period. Evaluation shows that the proposed defense scheme saves up to 94% energy consumption compared to the non-defense case.

This study aimed to examine the postures and behaviors of high school sophomores in Gyeongnam Province in daily life and the relations between back pain and sitting postures, and to identify undesirable behaviors and postures in daily life, and the following conclusions were obtained. The relation between back pain and cupping the chin in one of the two hands in rotation or sitting with the legs crossed or sitting on a chair with the back and hip not leaning against the backrest was statistically significant (p<0.05). The results above indicated that high school sophomores in South Korea spend most of the day sitting on a chair in school and that undesirable behaviors using one side of the body, such as cupping the chin in one of the two hands in rotation or sitting with the legs crossed, cause back pain. In addition, those who sit on a chair with the back and hip leaning against the backrest experienced less back pain than those who did not, and exercises after school were found to be helpful to prevent back pain.

The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of pilates exercises on the body composition and satisfaction level of female college students, and, to do so, pilates classes were provided for female college students for 8 weeks. Their level of satisfaction was surveyed and their body composition before and after participating in the classes was also measured. Out of a total of 40 subjects, those who did not diligently participate in the pilates classes were excluded, and the data of 22 subjects who continued to participate in the classes were analyzed only. The components of body composition measured before and after the 8-week pilates exercise program showed that body fat percentage and abdominal fat percentage were reduced, while lean body mass increased. The level of satisfaction of the group of those who performed pilates exercises for 8 weeks showed positive effects. It will be necessary to develop various systematic and science-based pilates exercise programs that are customized for different age groups in order to reduce the level of the components of body composition associated with obesity.

This study is to analyze the relationship between character and human semantic production through research on character visualization artworks and to develop a creative platform that visually expresses the formative and semantic dynamics of characters using the results will be. The 3D spatial interaction system using the character visualization proposed generates the transformation of the character in real time using the interaction with user and the deconstruction of the character structure. Transformations of characters including the intentions of the viewers provide a dynamic visual representation to the viewer and maximize the efficiency of meaning transfer by producing various related meanings. The method of dynamic deconstruction and reconstruction of the characters provided by this system creates special shapes that viewers cannot imagine until now and further extends the interpretation range of the meaning of the characters. Therefore, the proposed system not only induces an active viewing attitude from viewers, but also gives them an opportunity to enjoy watching the artwork and demonstrate creativity as a creator. This system induces new gestures of the viewer in real time through the transformation of characters in accordance with the viewer’'s gesture, and has the feature of exchanging emotions with viewers.

This study is based on the National Pension Research Institute's 2013 Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS) 5 Data for Parents and Children Care over 50 years old and analyzed the satisfaction level of life according to the characteristics of 226 people in society. The results showed that women were more satisfied with their lives than men, and when the age was lower, when they had spouses, and when they had independent economic power. As for the grandchildren caring provider, the higher the education levels, the higher the satisfaction with life. And across all areas, the grandchildren care provider showed greater satisfaction with life than the parents care provider. These results show that the burden of the parents' carers is as great as that. Suggestions based on these results are as follows. First, It is necessary to develop a health care program that can be easily accessed by family carers. Second, Direct economic support is needed, with the primary focus being on family carers. Third, services targeting parents care providers are needed. It is also necessary to form a network that can share the difficulties of parental care.

In this study we investigated antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of Malus Domestica (apple), Pyrus Communis L. (pear), Daucus carota L. (carrot), Brassica oleracea var. (broccoli), Brassica oleracea var. capitata (cabbage) and Raphanus sativus L. (radish), that were obtained from local market. As these are common fruits and vegetables that are widely consumed, we aimed to investigate their beneficial properties especially the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The samples were processed by an indirect heating method and their properties were compared to their raw forms. Based on DPPH and ABTS assay, processed samples showed better antioxidant activity compared to raw samples, and processed pear sample had the best antioxidant activity. The anti-inflammatory activities of the samples were also investigated in LPS-treated RAW 264.7 cells. The mRNA expressions of pro-inflammatory mediators and cytokines (iNOS, COX-2, TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6) were assessed by RT-PCR. Processed samples exhibited better inhibition of iNOS, compared to the raw forms. Processed broccoli and cabbage samples exhibited outstanding anti-inflammatory effects. The samples did not exhibit cytotoxicity against RAW 264.7 cells up to 1mg/ mL as shown in the cell viability assay. Taken together, processed broccoli and cabbage samples exhibited the strongest anti-inflammatory properties.
