Multi-level Byte Index Chunking Mechanism for File Synchronization

In this paper, we propose a probabilistic algorithm for detecting duplicated data blocks in low bandwidth network. The algorithm identifies duplicated regions of the destination file, and only sends non-duplicated region of data. The proposed system produces two types of double Index table for a file, each chunk sizes are 4MB and 32KB, respectively. At the first level, system client detects large sized identical data blocks using 4MB chunk sized index-table by using byte-index chunking approach in rapid time. At the second level, we perform byte-index chunking using 32KB index-table on entire non-duplicated data area produced through first level file similarity detection. This gives us opportunity to more accuracy rated data deduplication and doesn’t consume so much time because deduplication work restricted by only non-duplicated area. Experiment result shows the proposed approach can reduce processing time significantly comparable to fixed-size chunking. Also data deduplication rate is as high as variable-sized chunking.

This study aims to suggest a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) based superposition location estimation algorithm (SLEA) in consideration of indoor and outdoor radio environments in a wireless sensor network and to analyze its performance based on the embodied test bed. The result showed that the precision in SLEA location estimates was better than that of existing trilatelation-utilized methods. In particular, the improvement in the precision of location estimation was quite significant when information on the reference distance and the propagation constant were applied real time. To verify the simulation result in an actual environment, an experiment on location estimation was conducted at two spots (indoor and outdoor) in an environment similar to the simulation by means of Zigbee Remote Control according to IEEE 802.15.4.

Optimization of Water Supply Reservoir in the Framework of Climate Variation

This paper proposed a new methodology adaptation for the Pedu-Muda reservoir operation policies to enhance the capability and reliability of the reservoir operation fit to the climate change impact. These reservoirs are responsible to irrigate water supply for the largest double paddy cultivation area in Malaysia - the Muda Irrigation Scheme as staple food among people. In this study, statistical downscaling model (SDSM) was used to project the changes in climate trend for the study area, a hydrological model was used to simulate the runoff under projected change in climate, and a crop water model was used to re-arrange the crop water demand for two-times cultivation season. Two optimization models were applied; NSGA-II and LP model represents as evolutionary algorithm and classical method respectively to enhance the reservoir workability under changing climate. As a result, the rule-curves were proposed as guidelines to the operators for long-term reservoir operation. The performances of these models were compared via reliability, resilience, and vulnerability index. The results revealed that both optimization models were successful in theory to provide more/sufficient water for the irrigation purposes more than 4% than historical record. The system can also reduce the water transfer from Muda reservoir and water spill of Pedu reservoir. By performance results, the NSGA-II model showed a better improvement in the reservoir operation system and mitigated possible water crisis sufficiently due to climate change rather than LP model.

CUBRID Analysis of the Effectiveness according to Buffer Size Variation of Storage (multi load)

In this study, the efficiency by storage medium according to changes in the buffer size was compared and analyzed focusing on parameters setting the size of the buffer that most of DBMSs have in common in relation to storage media. efficiency was compared and analyzed by NBD(NHN Bulletin Board Application Database) according changes to the buffer size when single load which different work load from that of the TPC-H model. It was observed In QUIBRID that there is a difference due to the performance of the two storage media when TPS has been measured by giving single or multi-load through Level 2 of the NBD Benchmark but that there is no change in TPS according to the buffer size. It is because the small loads of Level 2 are processed within a range of not exceeding the buffer capacity. Thus it appears that for small loads for reading, printing out, or searching posts, there is no need to apply the large buffer to the two storage media all. D-SSD show no performance degradation due to excellent Read/Write functions. Thus, it is expected to achieve the desired performance without tuning works on the buffer size to process DB data.

There are different models and methods in the literature that assess risks in software projects. But few of these models and methods propose visualized software risk assessment tools that help project managers to visually identify, analyze, and prioritize risks in software projects. In this paper, a summary of these tools are presented with a detailed explanation of the strength and weaknesses of these software risk assessment tools that are found in the literature.

Many reengineering approaches have focused on extracting an abstract representa-tion through syntax analysis of legacy source codes. So, recovery of rationale behind the design decision, such as domain specific semantics and roles, has been ignored. In this paper, we suggest the architecture based reengineering approach using design patterns. A design pattern, as core element of software architecture, has integrated the concept of standardization about certain domain and expert experience into a set of related compo-nents that can perform specific functionality with better structure. We describe the reen-gineering process that defines the architecture of target system by refining architecture information of legacy system extracted through domain analysis, identifies the reengi-neering patterns that are applicable in that architecture, and completes a target system by mapping the identified reengineering pattern into target architecture. Also, we con-struct the Servlet2EJB prototyping system transforming servlet programs into EJB com-ponents as a case study for realizing our reengineering process.

This study aims to focus on sustainable cultural contents and resources in the region through public art projects and research successful cases regarding imagification of the local community. To connect tourism resources with public art, this study suggests a case of Suamgol Village, Cheongju through related documents and on-the-spot survey. As a result, we have found that Suamgol Village attracts many tourists thanks to imaging cultural contents including murals and filming locations of famous dramas. However, efficient storytelling strategy should be added to the murals in the community to sustain cultural space. To develop its value as a brand, smartphone apps based on GIS can be suggested.

A Review of Open Source Software Development Life Cycle Models

The Life cycle for the development of traditional commercial software is well established and discussed in various texts and research papers in detail. But in case of Open Source Software (OSS) life cycle for the development is not being discussed in much detail as there is no standardized life cycle approach exists for Open Source Software (OSS) development. Different researchers and developers have proposed various life cycles for the development of OSS with respect to their own development experience, need, or application. The main focus of this paper is on reviewing and then comparing the existing Open Source Software Life Cycle (OSSLC) presented and proposed by the various researchers and practitioners. It will give a precise view that in actual what are the various development approaches are used in case of OSS and how development of open source software starts and proceeds.

The paper is to empirically examine the effect of an integrated information system adoption for performance ability improvement in hypertensive patients. The pairwise t-test was done to compare the before and after application by a database feedback system for clinical performance ability improvement in hypertensive patients. The present research showed that the practice rate of clinical performance ability of hypertensive patients could be increased to 54.8-72.6% by application of the integrated information system. The study presents a new information system in an effort to reduce inefficiency and improve reliability of information. By the adoption of this database feedback system, the integrated information can be effectively connected with any kinds of database systems such as Oracle, MS-SQL, and Access and contributed for improving treatment efficiency in chronic patients.
