The purpose of this study was to examine learning styles of science gifted and general students and compare between them. Subjects were 124 gifted students of the Science Education Institute for The Gifted adjacent for University and 165 general middle school students. Learning styles were classified into six categories (independent, dependent, collaborative, competitive, participant and avoidant). Science gifted students showed collaborative, participant, independent and competitive learning styles. Female gifted students showed high scores more than males in participant and collaborative levels. General students showed collaborative, participant and competitive learning styles. There were no differences between genders. Science gifted students showed high scores more than general students in dependent, collaborative, competitive and participant learning styles.

The objective of this study is to analyze questioning type of teachers and to examine the response of students and the feedback of teachers in elementary science class for the gifted as a case study. Two teachers were selected, who are different in careers, understanding of characteristics of students, and usual questioning preferences. They taught the class with the same science program. The teacher with many years’ standing preferred interactive type of questionnaires focused on the students’ response rather than following questionnaires presented by the class program, while the teacher with few years’ standing preferred open type of questionnaires presented by the class program and knowledge-based teaching. Even though there might be some limits to generalize the results of this case study, the questioning preference of teachers could influence students regarding the process of thinking and response of the students. Further study is needed to develop a elementary science class for the gifted by better understanding of the characteristics of questionnaires of teachers by observing science classes of different subjects and contents

The students in a technical high school have lower academic ability than those in a normal high school. The admission to the technical high school is determined from the achievement in middle school, not from the students' aptitude. Therefore those students in a technical high school do not like science and have low interest to science. They also show negative attitude to practice science in their life. Thus their the science achievements become lower and, in turn, their learning motivations become lower. This negative chain-like factor is the basic reason why the science education in a technical high school cannot be performed well. Meanwhile, in the 7th National Curriculum, the science for grade 10 is the obligatory subject regardless of the students' high school. Many research showed that it is not appropriate to teach the same science contents to all the 10th graders. For the students in a technical high school, new teaching-learning program or new textbook is needed to be used in science education. In this study we applied 'science textbook for the next generation' in a commercial high school science lesson, in a hope to increase students' science learning.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the difference between what graduate students' knowledge on qualitative research was before they took a class and after they took a class. The class on qualitative research was held on summer semester, 2008 by the researcher. Subjects are 9 graduate teachers (male 3, female 6) for this study. They are all primary school teachers. Open-ended questionnaire are used. It has 5 items. The researcher extracted the main conceptions out of responses collected through the questionnaires. Their main conceptions are categorized based on research question. The research results are as follows. First, some of them considered the qualitative research as the counter part on the quantitative research, or others considered the unmeaningness (unnecessity) as the research methodology before they took the class. Second, they all agreed that the qualitative research was necessary in all science education after they took the class. It has on science concept study, science curriculum study, science teaching method study, science retard study, science learning theory study, etc.

The study was intended to investigate the current mathematics curriculum on the viewpoint of creativity. We introduced the concept ‘creativity’ based on Starko who tried to define the word to activate in the school mathematics classroom practically. Based on his conceptualization, we investigated our current national mathematics curriculum and textbooks. We found five sentences related to creativity in our mathematics curriculum, and we found some differences among the areas of algorithm, concept, mathematical reasoning, and problem solving in the viewpoint how much the textbooks provide students the chances for creative activities. We also discussed about three kinds of tasks those are students' levels, classroom environments, and teachers' designs to provide students creative classrooms.

Triangle is the simplest polygon and the five centers of a given triangle have significant meanings. The conformal transformation or isogonal map is characterized by angle-preserveness. In this paper we introduce a map (or transformation) from a given triangle to a new triangle with mathematical meanings and study transformation group by use of such transformations and new binary operation. Moreover, we apply these methods and process to the Research and Education program for the talented students.

The 1st APEC Future Scientists Conference was held on August 20~24, 2008 to provide opportunities for mentors and mentees to meet in person and to share research and academic activities in the past and to reinforce academic exchanges and human networks. The main participants were high school students and college students of APEC economies, who are interested in science research activities. The conference attracted the gifted students and teachers in science field, who will be engaged in sharing their various experiences and knowledges via oral presentation, poster session and team project workshops. It also improved opportunities to strengthen relationship among the Gifted in Science and teachers and try to find better ways to provide the advanced education contents to them. APEC Youth Scientist Journal was published as international youth scientist journals by collecting research contents presented at APEC future scientists court in theses.
