The number and scale of projects handled by companies is increasing. In addition, the importance and necessity of project management is increasing as the proportion of projects carried out in parallel increases. In such an environment, companies need systematic and professional project management considering project performance and benefits. The purpose of this study is to prove the value of the PMO organization and to confirm its contribution to the company by empirically examining whether the role of the PMO affects the project management performance and benefits. Role of PMO is divided into 6 sub-roles, and for empirical analysis, statistical analysis was conducted by securing data from office workers who had experience in carrying out and managing multiple projects or were involved in the project. As a result, among the roles of PMO, project management standard procedure support, education and training, advisory and mentoring had a significant effect on project management performance. Also, it was found that project management standard procedure support, education and training had an effect on project benefit. The analysis results show what positive results PMO will have when it is introduced into corporate project management. This study can have academic significance in empirically analyzing the relationship between the role of PMO, project management performance and benefits.

This study was intended to suggest implications for the development of competence for scientists and engineers by analyzing needs and priorities of basic R&D competencies using the competency model of scientists and engineers. For this purpose, a survey was conducted targeting 400 industrial, academic, and research scientists. First, the difference between the required level and the current level was statistically analyzed through t-test to find out competency requirement for R&D competency, which is science and technology. Third, the results of items with high requirements were visually presented on coordinate plane using The Locus for Focus model. Finally, priorities were presented in a table by comparing the rankings of The Locus for Focus model and Borich's requirements. In addition, the requirements and priorities of competency by job type were analyzed. As a result of analyzing the difference between the required level and the current level of basic R&D competency, which is science and technology, a statistically significant difference was found in all nine competencies. Based on this, some implications for the development of basic R&D capabilities, which are science and technology, were proposed.
