The purpose of this study was to investigate the balance abilities of the adolescent girl with brain lesions by STS (Sit-to-Stand) action analysis before and after the rehabilitative horse riding of 16 week program. The subject aged 16 year old who had the disabilities of spasticity and hemiplegia was recruited with the consent approval. The equilibrium abilities of the subject were tested by Sit-to-Stand examination with WTT (Weight Transfer Time), MRI (Mean Rising Index), MWA (Mean Weight Asymmetry), MTFV (Max Trunk Flexion Velocity), and MTEV (Max Trunk Extension Velocity). Research was designed by AB single subject study with baseline of 3 times of measurement and rehabilitative horse riding treatments. In the results, the enhancement of the subject’s equilibrium ability was shown by the comparison between baseline and treatment by the STS test that WTT was 2.37 sec faster, MRI was 6.64N/kg higher and MWA was 8.12% lower and MTFV was 0.57/sec lager than all those means of baseline. It suggested that the subjects showed her enhanced balance ability while in sitting and standing action test after the rehabilitative horse riding treatments.

Internet addiction after launching smartphone is becoming serious. Therefore this paper has attempted to sketch out the diverse addiction treatment and then check the feasibility of exercise rehabilitation. The reason to addict the internet or smartphone is personalized individual characters related personal psychological and emotional factors and social environmental factors around them. We have shown that 2 discernible approaches due to 2 different addiction causes: that is behavioral treatment and complementary treatment. In the behavioral treatment, CBT is representative methods for changing additive thoughts and behaviors. MI also the brief approach for persona not ready to change their behavior. MBCT also the adapted treatment based on CBT. There are different types following the emphatic point, MBRP or MORE. It is apparent that therapeutic recreation, music therapy using drumming activity and art therapy are useful complementary treatment. Exercise rehabilitation contained the systematic procedures and comprehensive activities compared to previous addiction treatments by contents and techniques. ER can treat both physical symptoms at first and mental problems in the next step. So more evidence-based ER researches need to do, but it is highly probable that exercise rehab can apply for smartphone addiction.

Historically women with chronic illness have been under-voiced. The purpose of this narrative study is to listen to the stories of how a chronic illness has impacted the life of woman as well as the lives of her family. Three informants, father, mother and the woman with Multiple Sclerosis were interviewed for the study. Three narratives were interwoven and contextualize to depict the lives of family. Results indicated several similarities and differences with regards to the meaning of illness for these family members.

The discovery of mirror neurons has been recognized as one of the major developments in neuroscience, with possible implications for the explanation of many important cognitive functions, including action and perception understanding, imitation, and empathy. In the mirror neuron system, action observation, imitation, and empathy are represented in the same basic motor circuit as action execution. The present paper presents basic neuophysiological findings about mirror neuron system and discusses the effects of perceptual and motor resonance on other people’s actions. Finally, this paper examines strategies informed by mirror neuron research in an empathy-fostering program for autism and in a motor rehabilitation program for stroke patients.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of inclined backward and forward walking on electromyographic activity of patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome. Method: A total of 30 college students with patellofemoral pain syndrome participated in this study for 6 weeks. Participants were divided into three groups of 10 people. Group A did not exercise. Group B exercised on an inclined forward treadmill. Group C exercised on an inclined backward treadmill. Group B and C exercised 3 time a week for 20 minutes during 6 weeks. We measured FVAS and electromyographic activity at week 0, 3 and 6. We used Functional Visual Analogue Scale (FVAS) to measure knee pain. We used FREEEMG300 to measure muscle electromyographic activity. Data was processed using Repeated Measures ANOVA to confirm the difference of each group. Results: There were significant differences between Group A and Group C as well as Group B and Group C for functional pain. There were significant differences between Group A and Group C for electromyographic activity. Conclusion: From the results of this study, pain and electromyographic activity were improved more for Group C than Group B. Therefore we recommend using backward treadmill training for patellofemoral pain syndrome.

A functional movement screen is an assessment of an athlete during a specific movement which has the ability to analyze multiple planes of body movement and the body’s overall performance. The benefit of this tool lies in its simplicity. Being able to simply look at an athlete doing a slow, low impact motion and pick out initial imbalances and gain a starting point for that athlete’s training. This is also an important tool because to assess the athlete in sport-specific activity to see where they may lack. From the literature, the intersession and interrater reliability of the functional movement screen appear to be consistent between examiners. Some research has shown that having an athlete perform a functional movement screen can aid in determining which areas of muscular imbalance need to be addressed in order for the athlete to be the most efficient in performing a task. It can also be used to help to determine identifiable risk factors for injury in a sport. However, other research has shown that there is no correlation between functional movement screen and athletic performance. The functional movement screen is still a relatively new topic therefore it is clear that there is still much research that needs to be done before it can truly be a reliable source for improving overall performance.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between upper body angles and performance of pole vault and explore an effective way to improve the performance of pole vault. This study selected 16 pole vault athletes who participated in 2012 National Track and Field Championships and analyzed their best performances in the competition. A Photron FASTCAM SA3 camera with Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D lens was used for recording. The sampling rate of the camera was 250 frames per second. The collected data were digitized and analyzed by Kwon3D software. Angles were reconfirmed by CAD software. The analyzed upper body angles were pole angle, elbow angle, and shoulder angle at the instant of take-off. The trunk angular velocity (TAV) was calculated during swing phase. These data was statistically analyzed by multiple regression stepwise method using SPSS ver. 18.0. The performance was set as independent variable. Pole angle, elbow angle, shoulder angle, and maximum trunk angular velocity were set as dependent variable for difference verification of each factor. The α level was set at .05. The elbow angle can estimate as the best factor for performance with 78.8%. So we can expect if the Taiwanese athletes makes wide elbow angle during pole vaulting, their performance will be increase.
