Several thinkers had predicted the end of history, Marx in the nineteenth century, most recently Francis Fukuyama on the occasion of the fall of the Soviet empire. Yet history is very much necessary to understand the emergence of a global society driven by information technology and communication as well as rapid transport networks. Yet history and its rival, the philosophy, no longer able to analyze the tensions resulting from the birth of this new information society and cannot respond individually to the challenges posed by globalization. Clio and Athena must recognize the need for collaboration with other human sciences today to explore the intricacies of humanity evolving.

Plusieurs penseurs avaient prédit la fin de l’histoire, Marx au XIXe siècle, plus récemment Francis Fukuyama à l’occasion de la chute de l’empire soviétique. Pourtant l’histoire reste bien nécessaire à la compréhension de l’émergence d’une société globale portée par les technologies de l’information et de la communication ainsi que par la rapidité des réseaux de transport. Pourtant l’histoire et sa rivale, la philosophie, n’arrivent plus à analyser les tensions issues de la naissance de cette nouvelle société de l’information et ne peuvent plus répondre isolément aux défis posés par la globalisation. Clio et Athéna doivent admettre la nécessaire collaboration avec les autres sciences humaines pour explorer aujourd’hui les méandres d’une humanité en pleine évolution.

How interactions between anthropology, history and science of information and communication they allow a better understanding of otherness in our contemporary world? Separate component humanity to previous centuries communities have often encountered peacefully through travelers, traders, scientists, explorers, religious, sometimes violently in clashes that destroyed or enslaved entire civilizations. Today, humanity becomes a through constant mixing generated by the new technologies of communication.

Comment les interactions entre l’anthropologie, l’histoire et les sciences de l’information et de la communication permettent-elles de mieux appréhender l’altérité dans notre monde contemporain? Les communautés séparées constituant l’humanité aux cours des siècles précédents se sont rencontrées souvent pacifiquement par l’intermédiaire des voyageurs, commerçants, savants, explorateurs, religieux, parfois violemment dans des heurts qui ont détruit ou réduits en esclavage des civilisations entières. Aujourd’hui, l’humanité devient une grâce à un brassage constant généré par les nouvelles technologies de la communication.

Since its inception in the 1960s, medical anthropology has diversified considerably. It now incorporates many collaborations between anthropologists and care professionals, the proposed research focuses on multiple topics, the doctor-patient relationship, the representation of disease or the use of alternative medicine. In this article, we will try to summarize the evolution of this specialty still causing much debate, and try to establish its current position in relation to medicine and classical anthropology.

Depuis sa création dans les années 1960, l’anthropologie médicale s’est considérablement diversifiée. Elle intègre désormais de nombreuses collaborations entre anthropologues et professionnels du soin; les travaux de recherche proposés portent sur des sujets multiples, qu’il s’agisse de la relation soignant-soigné, de la représentation des maladies, voire du recours à des médecines parallèles. Dans cet article, nous allons tenter de résumer l’évolution de cette spécialité encore aujourd’hui à l’origine de nombreux débats, et essayer de déterminer sa place actuelle par rapport à la médecine et l’anthropologie fondamentale.

Comment la rencontre avec de mystérieux signes visiblement très anciens peut-elle marquer l’histoire personnelle du chercheur et l’emmener sur des territoires peu balisés? C’est ainsi que des signes utilisés depuis des siècles par des meuniers corses montrent l’impact d’écriture et de chiffrages anciens, aujourd’hui presque oubliés. Les îles de la Méditerranée gardent jalousement le mystère d’écritures anciennes et encore indéchiffrées comme le linéaire A de Crète ou les inscriptions du disque de Phaïstos à Chypre. La Corse, participe à cette histoire de la transcription de l’oral à l’écrit par ce système de chiffres dont les meilleurs historiens n’arrivent pas à déterminer l’origine.

The French Republic is built around an imaginary shaped by symbols and Republican hero. During the “thirty glorious years” young French and European young immigrants adhered to these unrestricted and customs widely distributed by the “black hussars of the Republic.” However, the current economic crisis affecting the entire nation, but also and especially young sensitive suburbs from a primarily African immigration (Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa) refers to the colonial past which is made of non--said. These silences allow imaginary constructions that affect the understanding of the world and the need for consistency of a nation. Therefore, the confrontation around the colonial empire disappeared between publicized studies of historians and imaginary media also children of immigration became inevitable.

La République française s’est construite autour d’un imaginaire façonné par les symboles et les héros républicains. Durant les «trente glorieuses» les jeunes Français et les jeunes immigrés européens adhéraient sans restriction à ces us et coutumes largement diffusés par les «hussards noirs de la République». Toutefois, l’actuelle crise économique qui frappe l’ensemble de la nation, mais aussi et tout particulièrement les jeunes des banlieues sensibles issus d’une immigration essentiellement africaines (Maghreb et Afrique subsaharienne) les renvoie à un passé colonial qui est fait de non-dits. Ces silences permettent des constructions imaginaires qui nuisent à la compréhension du monde et à la nécessaire cohérence d’une nation. Dès lors, la confrontation autour de l’empire colonial disparu entre les études médiatisées des historiens et les imaginaires eux aussi médiatiques des enfants de l’immigration devint inévitable.

The author analyzes the failure of the project to establish a TBI (interactive whiteboard) in all schools in Quebec and it reveals the causes. It then looks at the chances of success of the massive introduction of digital tablet. He concludes that, pushed by orders of industrial equipment, the project is unlikely to succeed because we did not take into account the social context of the operation to be a co-construction process between all partners. In education, teachers are often the victims of “inventions” of educational technologists who are so quick to implement their new systems. Fortunately, the project creates controversy in Quebec and the public debate has been launched.

L’auteur analyse l’échec du projet d’implantation du TBI (tableau blanc interactif) dans toutes les écoles du Québec et il en dévoile les causes. Il regarde ensuite les chances de succès de l’implantation massive de la tablette numérique. Il en déduit que, poussé par les injonctions des industriels du matériel, le projet a peu de chance de réussir parce que l’on n’a pas tenu compte du contexte social de l’opération qui doit être un processus de coconstruction entre tous les partenaires. En éducation, les professeurs sont souvent les victimes des “inventions” des technologues de l’éducation qui sont si prompts à implanter leurs nouveaux systèmes. Heureusement, le projet crée la controverse au Québec et le débat public est lancé.

From 1960 creates and perpetuates a new field of knowledge: educational. This science, which studies particular teaching methods, fits into a context where the school system enters an area of great difficulty extending to the current period. Therefore, the role of social sciences taught in school, college and high school takes a special importance on educational policy and plans. Thus the analysis of textbooks and teaching methods of geography, history and citizenship education over forty years deserves careful study.

A partir de 1960 se crée et se perpétue un nouveau champ de la connaissance: la didactique. Cette science, qui étudie plus particulièrement les méthodes d’enseignement, s’insère dans un contexte où le système scolaire entre dans une zone de grandes difficultés qui s’étendent jusqu’à la période actuelle. Dès lors, la place des sciences sociales enseignées à l’école, au collège et au lycée prend une importance extraordinaire sur les plans pédagogique et politique. C’est ainsi que l’analyse des manuels scolaires et des méthodes d’enseignement de la géographie, de l’histoire et de l’éducation à la citoyenneté sur plus de quarante ans mérite une étude attentive.

The law of intellectual property is born with printing in the fifteenth century. He took all his legal dimension in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries with the constant advances in printing and reproduction means of printed works. However, recent existence of the Internet disrupts the legal structure of intellectual property itself. Because the law separates the author, the provider and the consumer. However, recent developments in practice shows that often informed consumer is a wise author. Should we oppose to achieve effective protection of intellectual property?

Le droit de la propriété intellectuelle est né avec l’imprimerie au XVe siècle. Il a pris toute sa dimension juridique au cours des XIXe et XXe siècles avec les progrès constants de l’imprimerie et des moyens de reproduction des oeuvres imprimées. Toutefois, l’existence récente du réseau Internet bouleverse les structures juridiques de la propriété intellectuelle elle-même. Car le droit sépare l’auteur, le fournisseur d’accès et le consommateur. Toutefois, l’évolution récente des usages prouve que bien souvent le consommateur éclairé est aussi un auteur avisé. Faut-il les opposer pour obtenir une protection efficace de la propriété intellectuelle?

It is a rare feat to invent a new science especially in modern days. Ferdinand de Saussure is one of the few scholars of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries who had succeeded in such achievement. It is not linguistics that Saussure had invented, as is commonly understood by people. Certainly Saussure had had a significant influence on the evolution of linguistics. But he did nothing of that “invention”. However, Saussure had invented semiotics from a different standpoint to the American scholar Charles Sanders Peirce who lived roughly in the same era. This paper aims to reveal initial disciplines and theoretical design of Saussure as the founder of semiotics.

The tensive style, as developed by the semiotic discourses, has built an interaction between two levels of discourse, namely the intensity and extensity. First of all, we may return in terms of content and secondly in terms of the expression of literary text. The tensive intersection of these two planes of language creates a tension that gives rise to conflicts of meaning. From what tensive process is it possible to study these conflicts? In what tensive style is a relationship with the cultural style established? This essay aims to demonstrate it through the poetic text of Baudelaire, the conflict in meaning while using the tensive style and the role it plays in the choice of value nder construction.

Le style tensif, tel qu’il est élaboré par la sémiotique du discours, construit une interaction entre deux niveaux du discours, à savoir l’intensité et l’extensité. La première peut nous renvoyer au plan du contenu et la deuxième au plan de l’expression du texte littéraire. De l’intersection tensive de ces deux plans du langage se crée une tension qui donne lieu à des conflits du sens. A partir de quel processus tensif est-il possible d’étudier ces conflits ? En quoi le style tensif peu-il établir un rapport avec le culturel ? Cet essai aura pour objectif de montrer, à travers le texte poétique de Baudelaire, le conflit du sens tout en ayant recours au style tensif et au rôle qu’il joue dans le choix des valeurs en construction.

Peirce’s rhematic iconic qualisign challenges the community of Peirce scholars in mainly three ways: First, ontologically, it merely exists as a pure possibility. Second, epistemologically, it is never perceived as itself, but it must always be embodied in a sinsign. Third, it seems impossible for a researcher to communicate a scientific research about it. This paper tries to overcome these difficulties by suggesting a possible case of the rhematic iconic qualisign; the humming sound of pianist Glenn Gould. Peirce’s definition of the First in its relation to feeling and consciousness is provided as the theoretical ground of this case study. The dominance of the First in Gould’s humming sound gives rise to a conclusion that music’s essence is its firstness, namely the quality of feeling.

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have a significant effect on our learning system. Beneath the transformation, there exists the advancement of software (S/W) technology. It has been developed from infrastructure S/W to information S/W and is going to evolve into interface S/W. Based upon the SST (social studies of technology) framework which postulates the reciprocal interaction between technology and society, this study attempts to forecast the future of learning fostered by the ongoing evolution of S/W technology. The changing pattern of learning can generally be described as shifting from the transmission of simple knowledge, through the understanding of abstract knowledge, to the mastery of contextual knowledge. In accordance with this transition, society is expected to move from knowledge through intelligence society eventually to semantic society. Along with this line of development, a totally different learning-scape will emerge.

Education, once a great equalizer has been lost its power to decrease the gap between the haves and have-nots. The meaning college education holds in South Korea changed over time and educational field differentiated accordingly. Once a scarce resource became a popular method people utilize, now turned into a new minimum. Depending on how people relate to the social boundary created by the meaning of college education, Koreans can be grouped into three categories: beneficiaries, alienated and oppressed, and wasted and excluded. Those who benefit are the ones using college education as one of the resources they have at their disposal. It is a toolkit guiding them with their life strategies. Majority of Koreans are alienated and oppressed by the meaning of college education they consolidated. Excluded are the ones incapable of pursuing college education thus wasted to the other side of the boundary and lost their place of existence in the mainstream educational field.
