Purpose: To evaluate the marginal and internal fit of metal coping fabricated by a metal three-dimensional (3D) printer that uses selective laser melting (SLM). Methods: An extraoral scanner was used to scan a die of the prepared maxillary right first molar, and the coping was designed using computer-aided design software and saved as an stereo lithography (STL) file. Ten specimens were printed with an SLM-type metal 3D printer (SLM group), and 10 more specimens were fabricated by casting the castable patterns output generated by a digital light processing-type resin 3D printer (casting the 3D printed resin patterns [CRP] group). The fit was measured using the silicon replica technique, and 8 points (A to H) were set per specimen to measure the marginal (points A, H) and internal (points B~G) gaps. The differences among the groups were compared using the Mann-Whitney U-test (α=0.05). Results: The mean of marginal fit in the SLM group was 69.67±18.04 μm, while in the CRP group was 117.10±41.95 μm. The internal fit of the SLM group was 95.18±41.20 μm, and that of the CRP group was 86.35±32 μm. As a result of statistical analysis, there was a significant difference in marginal fit between the SLM and CRP groups (p<0.05); however, there was no significant difference in internal fit between the SLM group and the CRP group (p>0.05). Conclusion: The marginal and internal fit of SLM is within the clinically acceptable range, and it seems to be applicable in terms of fit.

Purpose: This study aims to induce interest in the future society that could change with the advance of the 4th Industrial Revolution. It also intends to identify the direction of university education by investigating the perception of university students majoring in dental laboratory technology about the latest technology used in this era. Methods: The study recruited 240 college students majoring in dental laboratory technology at K and D universities in Gangwon-do and Daejeon, respectively. Online and face-to-face surveys were conducted from March 20, 2022 to April 10, 2022. Results: Although their interest in the use of emerging technologies during the 4th Industrial Revolution was above average 3.85, the dental laboratory technology students exhibited relatively high levels of anxiety 3.19 and reluctance 2.96. Second, their interest in emerging technologies demonstrated positive correlations with major satisfaction and understanding of concepts and readiness, whereas reluctance and anxiety pointed to negative correlations with understanding of the concepts of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Conclusion: Formulating guidelines is necessary to help students increase their understanding of the 4th Industrial Revolution and prepare them appropriately by setting an educational direction that can flexibly respond to the rapidly changing industrial environment.

Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data for a health promotion program by analyzing the effects of high school students’ mental health-related factors on oral symptom experiences. Methods: This study included 24,833 high school students who participated in the screening and health survey in the “17th (2021) Adolescent Health Behavior Survey.” SPSS software (SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0; IBM) was used for statistical analysis. Multiple sample logistic regression analysis was performed. The significance level was set to 0.05. Results: The result of the analysis on the effect of mental health revealed that oral symptom experience was low in students without depression and suicidal thoughts. Oral symptom experience was high in students with stress perception. Additionally, the experience of oral symptoms was low when there was sufficient subjective sleep. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to develop a customized oral health education program for early detection of oral symptoms and oral health promotion in high school students. Furthermore, it suggests the need for strategies and continuous oral health guidance to practice proper oral health habits to maintain healthy oral conditions.

Purpose: This study attempted to collect basic data to improve the basic repair ability of university freshmen in a world where the usage of advanced medical devices related to computer programs is now common. Methods: The collected data from 280 university freshmen enrolled in nursing, dental, and health degrees or computer and engineering degrees at K university of Gangwon-do were analyzed using the t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and linear regression analysis using the IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0 (IBM). Results: The mathematical learning status and the detailed factors of basic mathematical ability had a positive (+) correlation. The factors of basic mathematical ability, psychology of learning (p<0.001), method of learning (p<0.001), and propensity to learn (p<0.05) were found to be statistically significant, and the model’s explanatory power was 40.0%. Conclusion: As a result of this study and considering that advanced medical devices such as computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing and three-dimensional printers are becoming more common and up-to-date in clinical settings, it is determined that nursing and dental health students require education to improve their repair skills.
