Purpose: The objectives of this study was to evaluate clinical adaptation of dental prostheses printed by 3 dimensional(3D) printing technology. Methods: Ten study models were prepared. Ten specimens of experimental group were printed by 3D printing(3DP group). As a control group, 10 specimens were fabricated by casting method on the same models. Marginal gaps of all specimens were measured to evaluate clinical adaptation. Marginal adaptations were measured using silicone replica technique and measured at 8 sites per specimen. Wilcoxon’s signed-ranks test was used for statistical analysis(α = 0.05). Results: Means of marginal adaptations were 95.1μm for 3DP group and 75.9μm for CAST group(p < 0.000). Conclusion : However, the mean of the 3DP group was within the clinical tolerance suggested by the previous researchers. Based on this, dental prosthesis fabricated by 3D printing technology is considered to be clinically acceptable.

Purpose: This study was conducted to comparative evaluate the marginal and internal gap of three-unit metal frameworks(Co-Cr) fabricated by wax milling method and digital light projection method of CAD/CAM systems. Methods: All the specimens were fabricated by three different fabrication methods: conventional wax up with casting(CWC), milled wax block with casting(MWC), digital light projection with casting(DLPC) (n=10 each). The marginal and internal fits of specimens were examined using a replica technique. The light-body silicone thickness was measured at 8 reference points(each abutment: 16 measurements). All measurements were conducted by a stereomicroscope. Digital photo were taken at 150× magnification and then analyzed using a measurement software. The Mann-Whitney test was used for analyzing the results. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between the fabrication methods(p<0.001). The mean(SD) is μm for fabrication methods, the mean marginal fit were recorded respectively, CWC 63(38), MWC group 50(33), DLPC 103(54) and the mean internal fit CWC 96(47), MWC group 116(41), DLPC 138(66). Conclusion : The marginal and internal fit were statistically different according to the fabrication methods(p<0.001). In all fabrication methods, the greatest misfit was found the occlusal area of all specimens.

Purpose: To evaluate 2D and 3D of occulsal, mesial-occlusal and mesial-occlusal-distal cavity of composite resin inlay. Methods: Abutment tooth 16, 36 of FDI system was selected for the study. Inlay prostheses classified as occlusal cavity (OC group), mesial-occlusal (MOC) and mesial-occlusal-distal cavity (MODC) were prepared using composite resin. Composite resin was injected with composite resin in prepared tooth cavity and then photopolymerized with UV light. Additional thermal polymerization was performed. Marginal gap of composite resin inlays were measured by digital microscope(x160) with silicone replica technique. The data was analyzed from statistical software for Kruskal-Wallis test (α=0.05). 3-dimensional analysis was analyzed through superimposition method. Results: The smallest 2D marginal fit measure of the three groups was 47.0±21.6 μm in the MOC group. The largest 2D marginal was 69.1 ± 33.8 μm in the MODC group. In the trueness of the three groups, the most accurate figure was 14.4±2.3 μm for the MODC group. In Precision, the most accurate figure was 14.5±4.3 μm for the MODC group. Conclusion : In this study, 2D marginal fit of OC, MOC, and MODC cavities fabricated with composite resin was applicable to all clinical applications. In the 3D inner surface accuracy evaluation, the MODC group showed the accuracy results.

Purpose: This provides basic data for improving educational effectiveness by selecting and applying basic vocational competency applicable to dental technology’s sub-major curricula by determining and researching dental technicians' awareness levels concerning the basic vocational competency’s importance. Methods: 170 dental technicians working in Daegu, Korea were surveyed using a self-administered questionnaire between 9 January 2018 and 23 February 2018. Results: 1. The highest level of the basic vocational competency elements by the awareness levels of importance in dental technology laboratories was shown in the occupational ethics, followed by technological skills, interpersonal skills, self-development levels, problem-solving skills, information skills, resource management skills and skills for understanding groups, communication skills, and mathematical skills. 2. Female dental technicians put relatively higher importance on writing documents and managing time, while males stressing on basic statistics. 3. Dental laboratory CEOs and managers put high values on resource management skills, while head technicians valuing information skills more. 4. The awareness levels concerning the basic vocational competency importance in some dental technology fields did not match those of the dental technology laboratories in the fields of porcelain, crown and bridge, and orthodontics. Conclusion : This study demonstrates that the awareness levels concerning basic vocational competency's importance in some fields of dental technology differ from those of dental technology laboratories. Developing a basic vocational competency curriculum, it seems necessary to find ways to increase educational effectiveness by selecting and applying the basic vocational competency for the respective fields of dental technology.
