This study examines the current status of logistics costs of Korean companies and analyzes the cost structure by industries. Logistics costs of Korean companies took 11.10% out of their sales in 2001 and they have been cut to 8.03% in 2011; a decrease of 3.07% during the decade. Reviewing the details by industries, raw materials industries shows relatively high logistics costs portions, for instance, 12.48% for the non-metallic minerals and 12.33% for food & beverages. On the other hand, high value-added industries shows low cost structure, for instance 5.82% for electronic parts. With regard to costs by function, transportation cost takes the higher portion than warehousing cost and the main cause of this phenomon is the sharply increased fuel cost. In addition, industries with heavy-weight cargoes, such as food&beverages, publishing and non-metallic minerals need to cut their logistics costs with improved transportation routing. Finally, with regard to policy support, expanding new logistics centers is pointed out for supporting electronic parts, automotives and publishing industries; while nurturing advanced logistics companies is pointed out for food&beverage and chemicals. In conclusion, the Korean government needs to develop industry-specific policies to improve logistics efficiency of companies

This treatise is the result to explain about the history and meaning of Sashimi and Odeng which became brand food of Busan from the Japanese colonial times in 19 century to today. At that time when Korea had been gradually become to colony by Japanese Empire, Japanese fishermen began to catch many and various fishes on the sea of Korea which were abundant of fishes with their advanced motor-ships and nets. From the result, the new species of fishes were caught and sold at Busan fishery market, and simultaneously Japanese's dietary life was introduced to Busan in daily lives, and it became to settle down as the Korean's one day after day. So, Sashimi and Oden have become the representative seafoods of Busan with the great influence by Japanese, and they are acknowledged as the brand food of Busan on nowadays.

Supply chain provide all of us with many benefits as consumers. Supply chain management is responsible for the movement of materials all the way from initial suppliers through to final customers. Producers of goods and services need to take advantage of the many opportunities for efficiency provided by global linkage. However they involved risks. Supply chain risk appears as many event that might affect this movement and disrupt the planned flow of materials. This study is about the risks involved in supply chains, especially in recent research. Supply chain risk is a nascent field, going back only to the early 2000s. This does not mean there was no risk in supply chains before then, but that supply chain risk began to be identified as a domain of research and practice only around that time. This study present in three part, layered upon each other: (Ch.1) Introducing supply chain risk, (Ch.2) Presenting broad mitigation approaches in research, (Ch.3) Implications by including the viewpoints for further research. This approach is intended to contribute knowledge and understanding into the extensive fields.

The purpose of this study was to discuss the effect of ocean industry exposition on globalization of ocean industries and regional economy development of sea port cities. Recent research and development on Korean ocean related industries were introduced and its strategy for the globalization were discussed. The study analyzes the effects of the various projects related to ocean industry exposition and answers the question of how to link the effects to development of ocean related industries as well as the economic activation of sea port cities in Korea. To attain this goal, first of all, this study attempted to analyze status of ocean industries, characteristics of existing exposition in sea port cities. To maximize the above positive effects of ocean industry exposition, this study emphasized alternative future strategic options for sea port cities and its ocean industry exposition in Korea.

Small & medium enterprises in Korea which are weak in handling their products, capital and management skills are hard to build logistics system on their own. For that reason, Joint logistics is the best way to improve their logistics efficiency. Joint logistics system can protect excessive competition between enterprises and reinforce international competitiveness of enterprises through reducing logistics cost. Joint logistics system has also various merits of reducing logistics cost, traffic congestion and decreasing CO2 which can be realized green logistics. In this study, I did by purpose that figures out joint logistics actual conditions and suggest activation joint logistics in Korea. Korean joint logistics' problems are summarized by logistics business group's unilateral service supply, lack of understanding, joint logistics model, and systematic support. As a result this paper suggest that needs to grant of subsidies, model development, certification system induction, and plan of tax reduction etc. for activation.

Actually, adequate debt ratio would be different according to the characteristics of firms or industries. If costs and benefits to use debt are dissimilar in the companies, even their acceptable debt ratios would be varied. It is absolutely desirable to raise debt when the benefit is bigger than the cost. However, those are decided by growth, profitability, and financial cost. For example, the higher sales to capital and income to sales are, the more return on investment is, and then the lower financial cost to debt is, the less the burden of debt is. Therefore, it is necessary to draw suitable debt ratio by each industry considering its environmental feature. In this context, for shipping corporate is more sensitive to the government policy about debt administration than other industries, the comprehensive model should be established including total asset turnover, degree of debt burden, profit to sales, and so on. It would be one of the timely thesis to deduct, through this model, optimal debt ratio in shipping industry. To conclude, this study is a kind of trial approach to demonstrate an analytic model enable to estimate the ratio by using the empirical data hereafter. It would perform a role as a suggestion to improve the industry.

Operations in a Federation of Community Credit Cooperative have become an important managerial strategy in a competitive financial market. A number of risks involved in the operations in a Federation of Community Credit Cooperative tend to create problems in fulfilling financial customer needs if the company doesn't cope with them properly and timely. Risk management function has been developed to assess and treat the risks that can impact an organization's ability to achieve its business objectives. This research presents how risk management process can be used to identify, assess, and control operation risks and develops a framework for establishing a risk management system for the Korea Federation of Community Credit Cooperative. This paper has further presented action plans to mitigate the impact of the risks thar occur.

This study is aiming to investigate the strategy on forming a long term relationship between logistics service provider and demander including maintaining strategy of it. Literature review and empirical study are used to modify research model and to develop questionnaire for logistics service companies. Reliability for measuring procedure yields the same result on repeated trials and validity for identifying the accuracy of the accrual measuring instrument are also used. Suggested hypothesis are verified through multiple regression method and the testing results are shown as follows; First, service recovery effort have a positive effect to the service recovery satisfaction against the service failure of logistics service providing company. Second, the service recovery satisfaction also leads a positive effect on the customer repurchase intention.

This study aims at presenting development ways on the evaluation system of the Korea Sea Grant Program(KSGP). It is important to conduct proper and effective evaluation in order to contribute to develop management and direction of the program and to enhance it. Accordingly, this study is to suggest its improving directions pointing out the fact that evaluation on the KSGP have been never performed and having comprehensive examination the current evaluation system. In order to accomplish the goal, the evaluation system of the KSGP was theoretically studied by reviewing related theories, case studies and literatures. And based on its results, an analysis frame of the research for comprehensive examination on positive and interpretative evaluation system were made with two perspectives: the evaluation system's contents and its management. According to the analysis frame of the research, the examination results on the evaluation system of the KSGP have characteristics as follows. First, in perspective of its contents, the problem on its comprehensive validity was raised as the evaluation didn't reflect understanding and consideration on the program and it is required to seek measurements to solve it. Second, in regard of its management, even though it was considered most important in communication and participation by related parties, its practice required more efforts to improve. While the evaluation itself was proceeded in somewhat transparent way, making public of selecting evaluation committees, the results and sharing information on evaluations in various levels were not smoothly done. For fairness and clearness of the evaluation, there were no problem on itself but it tended to be affected by political power and structure. Third, in perspective of application of the evaluation results, both feedback on the evaluation results and its application were not sufficiently performed. Throughout the results of research analysis, this study suggests the following development ways for proper and effective evaluation to improve the program, based on examination results of the evaluation system of the KSGP. First, with regard to contents of the evaluation system of the KSGP, we present the followings: ① differential and customized evaluation considering characteristics including types and size of the project, ② establishment of strategic evaluation plan linking the entire process of the plan, execution and evaluation and ③ supplement of index and criteria of the evaluation according to its paradigm. And then, second, in terms with management and operation of the program, our suggestions are as follows: ① preparation of participative evaluation system and foundation of its communication system, ② securing of transparency and publicity on the evaluation process and results for its appropriateness, ③ guaranteeing of fairness and clearness of the evaluation for reflecting the parties' needs and increasing reliability of the evaluation and ④ making decisions on policies by applying the evaluation results, improving the program, enhancing its responsibilities, applying its structural management, organizing education and generating new knowledge.

Ship is the prerequisite essential physical facility for maritime companies. Therefore, most of maritime legal cases are based on the ship. However, ship has several special features because ship has also the real-estate-like characteristics as being the movable asset. Especially, Korean Commercial Law admits exceptions to the general principles of the Korean Civil Law, describing the agreement between the parties shall be effective for transmission on the ship which can be registered and enrolled. Moreover, the disclosure system of the ship in Korea has been adopted dualism by both the registration for the purpose of the disclosure for the right in the private law and the enrollment for governing authorities in the shipping process on the need. For such reasons, several legal cases occur on the ownership of ship. Therefore, the legal principle on the ownership of ship is need to be reviewed at the present and, for that, considered with the English Law as the comparative legal study. Specifically, this paper describes, first of all, the historical development on the English Law related the ownership of ship, the registration of the ownership of ship, the qualifications for ownership of the British ship, the Merchant Shipping Act on 1995, then, considered the transmission problems of the ownership of ship, namely, the transfer of the ownership and the transmission of the ownership, and the transmission of the ownership of ship on the transaction of ship, etc. To conclude, the results are summarized and implications are suggested to the Korean Law.

According to the paradigm change from the age of information revolution based on knowledge, technology and information to that of Blue Revolution with ocean as key solution due to new waves in the 21st Century, it is necessary to seek ways to activate ocean education to promote ocean consciousness. Accordingly, this study, in accordance with the current of the times, reviewed meaning and state of ocean consciousness, and reviewed definitions and types of policy instrument of ocean education, and figured out relations of effects of ocean policy instruments on level of ocean consciousness by analyzing it. Ocean consciousness is defined as concern or knowledge for oceans and its related issues or attitude or standpoint of ocean. Ocean education policy means policy purpose of proper ocean education and its basic principle by authorities to be achieved. Through theoretical studies, the positive research was performed. As the results of general attitude on effects of ocean attitude and policy instruments of ocean education, the most influential factor by respondents was matter of education and public relations. For responses about reasons for low ocean attitude in Korea showed lack of systematic education system. From these results, ocean education is inevitable for prompting ocean consciousness. And then the respondents chose development of contents and textbooks of ocean education as most best solution to foster ocean consciousness. Policy instrument of ocean education can be categorized as follows: regulative(stick) policy instrument, economical and informative(carrot and sermons) instrument and organizational policy instrument. And then as the results of effect relations on ocean attitude by them, except for regulative one, the rest of policy instruments showed their statistically significant influences. Based on the results, we made suggestions for developing ocean education policy instrument. First l, for systematic policy instruments, it is necessary to enact ocean Education Promotion Act and regulation offering foundation for ocean education center. Second, for economical policy instruments, it is needed to prepare qualification and support system for ocean education program, training of teachers who take charge of ocean education and to link them with informative policy instruments. Third, about informative policy instruments, it needs to develop textbooks for ocean education, to apply forms of online ocean education and experience education for youth. Finally, concerning organizational policy instruments, it is essential to build networks among ocean scientists and teachers, association to develop ocean education and further its international network

This study focuses on the effect of issuing corporate bond of shipping company. It is thought that Investors recognize signal on issuing bond of shipping company. This paper examines the case of Hanjin Shipping's issuing corporate bond. In order to analyze effect of issuing corporate bond on the stock price. By using the market model, we calculates the cumulative abnormal return(CAR) for 20 days before and after issuing corporate bond. This study also discussed a refunding bond and operating objective bond. the result, It find that the difference in CAR for 20 days before and after issuing corporate bond according to objective.

Since the 9.11 terrorist attack in 2001, fears have grown that seaports would be exploited or disrupted by the act of terrorism. As a result, to safeguard global marine trade while enabling legitimate cargoes to move faster and more efficiently through the supply chain to ports, lots of multinational initiatives and nationwide legislation have been introduced. Such newly-adopted regulations forced port terminal operators to establish the Supply Chain Security Management (SCSM) system on the global standards while carrying out their original functions of loading and discharging cargoes. This paper aims to identify the roles of terminal operators in terms of the SCSM to distinguish difference in commencing the activities among various types of operators.
