The school building in a city should offer students and citizens a free space. People can take a rest. It should be also possible to be used as cultural facilities. The aim of this study is to aware problems about uniform building plan of modern schools. And find out the solution from arrangement of building and construction of space in Seowon Architecture. Seowon was a traditional education facility of Korea. The merits of Seowon architecture are applying a theory of collectivity in building plan, overlapping nature and architecture, and continuing spaces. Finally, it is the most important aim to introduce these merits in school building plan through the modern viewpoint.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the a strategy of neighbourhood estate regeneration and management in deteriorate apartment estate focused on these of Broadwater Farm Estate in Tottenham, in the Londod Borough of Haringey. The process of environmental, social and economic regeneration of the Estate began in 1981 and was spearheaded by resident, and in particular local women and young people, led by a long-time resident of Jamaican origin and mother of six, who started the predominantly black residents Youth Association.

In spite of forming a large majority of all of the commercial buildings small-sized commercial buildings, enough to be called representative ones, have many problems such as lack of clear understanding of small-sized commercial buildings and their disharmony with the cityscape resulting from signboards jumbled up closely together and the building remodeling preformed at random, compared to large-sized buildings and the building style constructed through small investment. For the improvement of the cityscape facade remodeling is wedging its way. Through this study I will point out the problems and individual characteristics of the main factors consisting of all facade of small-sized commercial buildings, trying to find the clear solutions to various problems shown in such buildings and presenting fundamental data for facade remodeling plan for small-sized commercial buildings. This purpose of this study is to analyze the points at issue of facade after the analysis of the elements which can have decisive impact on building process , building factors and types of facade of commercial buildings. For my study I selected the town called Cheongju city Seongangil, which is commercial building densely built-up area and recognized highly as place of many different culture and entertainment, and after investigation and analysis of the aesthetical and structural elements, characteristics by types I will present solutions to the problems with the commercial buildings through remodeling by inducing my theory produced on the basis of the results.

More than 20 years have passed since auditorium had been established in many cities in Korea after local autonomy has been set. Due to a changes user's demands in demands of users and old facilities, renovation has of the auditorium buildings has been constructed continually. This paper propose the guideline of the improvement of the facilities and quality of the cultural buildings including function of space, stage equipments, room acoustics and comfort of seats. Four different aspects were investigated and focused regarding the enhancement of the performance spaces of a opera house.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the planning characteristics in Complexes of Small Schools. The findings of the study follow: (1) Common areas and private areas are planned hieratically for enhancing facility users' social contacts. (2) Teacher's area is located within each component school. Teachers can focus on the education for students within a small school community. (3) The selection of floor plan types and the vertical composition of component schools affect Intelligibility of spaces, which is related to the enhancement of facility users' social contacts.

The research is to grasp problems in the city maintenance project in Daejeon city and to provide amelioration of those problems. The city maintenance project which is represented by renovation and remodeling, is getting more important and its problems are not occurred by accident but the results of the previous city management policy and a city function and configuration change. the improvement scheme should be able to adapt continuously changing condition and we need to recognize this scheme as a long-term project.

This study is aimed at evaluating color effects on images of street facilities to improve environmental facilities on city streets. In this study, evaluation targets where environmental facilities by types were arranged in city streets were made with CG, evaluation on the environmental facilities was conducted, and the profile of average scores of the facilities was analyzed to identify the color effect. The results showed that responses like "harmonious", "natural" and "well organized" came from adequate arrangement of environmental facilities in a suitable street environment, responses like "functional", "simple", "neat" and "sophisticated" came from use of achromatic colors and transparent materials, "unique", "nomadic", "dynamic" and "colorful" from use of high chromatic and warm colors, "cool" from use of cool colors in environmental facilities.

The purpose of this study about Exhibition space plan element that apply special quality of Overlapping effect. Because grasp concept about overlapping and special quality of each element, examined whether there is some effect characteristic and space. Choose by exhibition space and analyzed work that characteristic and effect of front are expressed well by example analysis. Composition pattern to invent special quality of overlapping effect from exhibition space of this study is consisted mutually by organic consecutiveness. Therefore, can exuviate in do single space jealousy. Accordingly, visual point is established and can feel overlapping.

This study is to formulate the planning conditions for inner-plaza atriums to contribute to a creation of urban public space. Design conditions for the atriums to be used as urban public space were identified through multiple regression analysis for the number of staying users, density of staying users, percentage of general visitors in staying users. Use for staying space indices were examined by design factors such as the situation of connection to station and building scale.

Since the Industrial Revolution, the gravitation of population toward cities caused the congestion of cities. And green space which was more needed in the cities was encroached upon by building and street.Even if a external space for green areas was secured by high storied buildings, it has reached limits of securing space, because of the structure of a city which is divided into three parts like street, building and external space. Therefore, I will try to find out the answer throughout a conversion of the structure that is divided into only two parts like the green space and the architecture that building astreet and linked top to bottom.

This research is to purpose dormitory plan paradigm of severely-handicapped person living institutions. Handicapped person usually feel inconvenience their life. Many researches are studying to solve that problem. Many Handicapped persons live at living institutions. The dormitory of living institutions are the same as home. Home is a basic place of human-beings. Severely-handicapped person almost live dormitory. And they are outrun perception ability. So they always need someone's help. Dormitory paradigm of severely-handicapped person living institutions are changed continuously. That is an important to severely-handicapped person's living. So this research is to help severely-handicapped persons feel dormitory like as home.

The subject of study is leaving alone and misused In-between space for improvement of Urban Space. Using the streets, blocks and buildings network, urban space make more comfortable and efficient. This research will apply to design.

This study investigate that School space must be activity-oriented for child growth and development, based on the three case studies of elementary schools located in Gwangju Metropolitan City. The following questions were investigated. First, What type of activity space do the schools have? Second, Why do the activities take place there? Third, How are the activity spaces structured? Therefore, this study examined, compared, and analyzed the shape and form of the ground space, the surroundings space, and the interior spaces, as well as structural pattern of activity space, types of activities, and sizes of facility and unit spaces. This study therefore, aimed to find the structure of activity spaces.

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics and to estimate the value of the rural community forest (RCF) in North Chungcheongbukdo mountain villages. The study investigated the status and structure of this forest which is considered to be a cultural and physical treasure of the rural community. First of all, the origin of the rural community forest and the reason for the presence of the forest near the communityinvestigated in order to establish the the meaning of the term, "RCF". Secondly, characteristics, functions and types of RCF were assessed to show the value of an RCF. Thirdly, the ecological characteristics of the forest were analyzed in the context of rural activities. The research method was based on repeated visits to the rural community in North Chungcheongbukdo. On each visit, the theory of divination based on topography (Fungsu theory) was considered. Variables evaluated included the name, location, topography, size, accessibility, origin, rationale and the function of the forest built near the rural community. The description of topography and the analysis of trees (where and what kind of trees were planted) were made to find out the characteristics of the clusters of the trees in the forest and structural characteristics of the forest. Finally, a future management plan for the forest was established by analyzing the history and culture of the community, present management of the forest, and the condition of the trees in the forest (how well the trees had grown).

Contemporary city is often considered as a dynamic organism that undergoes various changes. The city also undergoes these ceaseless changes in physical aspect. Land price is not only an index that expresses physical, social and economical characteristics of the land, but also explains essential urban changes. Understanding the relationship between land price and land use can be a way of grasping the urban change pattern. This is a study for the grasping the spatial change pattern in urban area by statistical analysis of the relationship between land price and land use focused on its building attributes. Building attributes used for the analysis are as follows: (1)total floor area, (2)main use, (3)main structure, (4)stories above ground, (5)stories under ground, (6)built years.

According to exhaustion of energy, we need to know about alternative energy development. That growing perception is helping to strengthen, Photovoltaic system has been widely used for method of the most typical alternative energy till now. The alternative energy development has began with the purpose of decreasing consumption of energy. In application of this practical system based on Photovoltaic system, it only stick to use as construction materials by simple and lack of variety ways. For this reason, various building's consumption of energy has been produced. This research is recognized from the problem. And based on the research about "A Design on the R&D Center with the use of building integrated photovoltaic system". And finally, application to design R&D Center, we suggest effective application case of alternative energy.

A survey on a catholic church was undertaken based on the human behavioral investigation. Several methods of collecting behavioral data were accomplished including Reference research, interviews, observation, questionnaire. Also, specific data analyses were carried out using several charts considering area, role, activity and user and administrator's point of view. Relationship chart of activity and adjacency was made to configure out the space correlation. Simultaneous use chart was also made by observers and used to remodeling of the spaces of the church. As a result, a new design was suggested which satisfy users with more contentment as well as administrators. This kind of research methods could be a model of current remodeling of building based on the human behaviour.

Sustainable development became a global main trend from 1970'. Because of many Environmental problem. But in Korea there's no more measure about that. Korea's development paradigm focused on Economical growth. So, now is the Time to change our development paradigm to what harmonious with Environment. When The 170 sites of Ecological Housing Estate has been established in Germany. Many Ecological Housing of German has concept of Sustainable Development. So, this paper had process that analysis of design side and factor through preexistence research of Genman and Korea. after the analysis of factor, through the valuation of sustainable, establishment of sustainable ecological housing factor. and in the step of Case study, confirm the application of that factors. Through this paper, we look around about a concept of "Sustainable Ecological Housing" and detail design factors of sustainable ecological housing. And Case study of German Sustainable Ecological Housing give more detain information and lessons to Korean Sustainable Ecological Housing.

This study aims to find the planning characteristics of the shop-type and the size of the commercial facilities at apartment housing estates in chung-ju city. The contents of this research consists of two main parts. The first part is to analyze the correlation between the development conditions and the shop-type of the commercial facilities. The second part is to analyze the planning patterns of the size of the commercial facilities, based on the development site size, the at apartment housing estates in chung-ju city.

A modern city has been changed by the industrialization and the economical use of a land. So the publicness is not exist anymore in the city, specially in the commercial building. The purpose of this study is to improve the publicness of commercial building by design of rooftop atrium. Atrium raises the amenity for the building users. So, it improves the image of the city and commercial.

Axial map analysis of Space Syntax is a well known technique on the interpretation of configurational space structure and has been successful to understand the relationships between space structures. This paper deals with the limitations of axial lines as a unit space to measure it's social logic due to the fact that axial lines are the fewest longest lines of visibility. This paper attempts to refine an axial space into more detailed unit to identify lines in a real-world manner so that the measured unit of a space can be more precisely correspond to its functions in a the world. Axial lines are split into a segment based on intersection points and can form a graph to get a relationship between them, which is called a 'segment line' and results in a 'segment map'. With comparing measurements of spaces in axial line map and segment map in a case of simulation, this segmentation method of space analysis will find a way to improvement of the space syntax techniques.

A case study of the regenerative city on the waterfront in a city Since 1970’s, the waterfront of a city has been controlled as a suburb in the process of urbanization and industrialization. Also, the water front of a city has been untouched more than the other areas, for example the difficult development, the competition of the development. However, recently it is seen as a place that be used as demand for land has increased become of the expansion of the city. Waterfront could be a tonic for urban renewal. In addition, water front will change the construction of the city. As a result, it will achieve the continuous development of the city. Therefore, we need to observe what the function of the regeneration of the city is.

This thesis is aimed at presenting a method of expressing emotional design and the property of it in modern times by keeping our eyes upon the thought of how the fashion retail shops actualize the emotional design, laying stress on them which show their own sensibility excellently. Among, this author is going to analyze this thesis with the focus on the continuity which is often called the flow of space, expressing emotional characteristic of modern space. The properties of the continuity in a space from this thesis are proved to an overlap spaces, vague boundary, changing a circulation to a space, and using transparency, in addition, this thesis regards it as an important factor to be applied to a retail shop from now on, and it will be a emotional design.

The 7th National Curriculum requires the part of a school library for supporting porformance evaluation, optional actives, and extracurricular activites. The school library which is very important part of school education needs support of necessary resources and adequate facilities for performing its functions effectively and efficiently. This reserch is based on the school library for present education to need. And, the objective of this reserch is to grasp the present condition of school library and to show improvement device for planning efficiently the time when school library is designed in future.

Due to increasing number of Large-scale Discount Store, the relative industry is involved in fierce competition and consumers' awareness is growing. These factors shed light on the importance of interior design. In this sense, interior design of 15 Large-scale Discount Stores in Daegu were researched. Additionally, the survey of consumer on their preference and the image of market's were conducted in order to drawing out the relevant results that were compared and analyzed. And the results of study are followed : Consumers have different preference and image by each zone, which is different from current interior design status of Large-scale Discount Stores. In this regard, this research is aimed at providing basic data which can help the Large-scale Discount Store to make meeting the demands of consumers when those are planned for the interior design.

The attitude of the Korean for dwelling house and the viewpoints about nature are described in 'Shijo(a kind of short lyric poem)'. The purpose of this study is to find out the concepts of Korean traditional dwelling house through the 'Shijo'. The results of study are as follows. The concept of the traditional house is that the houses are regarded as a place of ideal seclusion, a part of nature, a resting place, a place of social life. The garden was composed of the natural and artificial element on principle of naturalness and introduction of the natural landscape, and the composition elements of the garden had the symbolic meanings.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the historical and cultural values and habitability of house types in Gyeongju that show the characteristics of the times. The results of this study will be used as data for making residential plans which can meet the needs of Gyeongju citizens in terms of the living environment and maintain the historical and cultural contextuality of Gyeongju. The subject areas for this study were limited to Dongbang Village area, Sajeong-dong area, and Gukmin-Jutaek-Gil and Hanvit-Gil areas in Seonggeon-dong. A questionnaire survey was carried out with 203 residents between August 16 and 18, 2007. Analysis was performed using the SPSS 12, a statistical program, and statistically significant results were drawn from the analysis.

Recently New city or the redevelopement of the city is active, The use against the public space of the city is magnified at nighttime, hereupon the demand of exterior lighting is increasing suddenly. Also it raises a city dignity and overview Plans Division against the nighttime view of Taegu for sightseeing activation the necessity of the integrated civil official who will reach is proposed. But Taegu there is not still like this master plan, Also the civil official station scatters, It is a condition where system management does not become. Is like that with, city image improvement and nighttime sightseeing activation the master plan against a exterior lighting is necessary. From the research which it sees hereupon overview culture facility in public facilities of Taegu it investigates the technique and an evaluation item of exterior lighting in the object and it analyzes with plan of exterior lighting of the building, when design doing, is effective data it it provides from city view fundamentally in objective.

본 논문의 목적은 쿠폴라를 디자인하는 데에 있어 우리 시각과 상상력의 중요성을 조명함에 있다. 쿠폴라는 흔히 다른 건물보다 부각되게 하는 요소로서 대항 건물에 수직적인 악센트와 함께 친근감을 부여한다. 쿠폴라가 우리 관심을 끌고 유지하기 위해서는 이 지붕 위의 구조물이 아늑함과 인간적인 스케일을 암시할 만큼 작아야하며 시각적으로 투과성이 있어야 한다. 관찰자로 하여금 속만 아니라 뒤까지도 볼 수 있게 하는 개방형과 창문형에 있어서는 그 투명성이 투과성과 직결된다. 보통 우리 시각에는 불투명한 루버형에 있어 시각적 투과성이 암시되기 위해서는 적어도 공기 혹은 소리가 소통하는 것처럼 보이게 루버를 이루는 날개들의 간격을 충분히 확보해야 한다.
