With the close relationship between the idea of Postmodernism and the development of architectural and digital technology, the contemporary architectural scene began to require a new design process. In this context, some contemporary architects called 'the digital architect' use computer algorism as a mode of thinking about architecture named 'digital design process' for making more complex and peculiar architectural form. In addition to such a general phenomenon of digital design process, we can find another meaning of it, the role of architect's schema, in point of that all of architectural design process must start from the architect's own consciousness. In other word, architect's schema has an important role not only in traditional architectural design process, but also in digital design process. Architectural schema in design process is a lump of conceptual idea constituted with transcendental elements, intuition, image, thinking, philosophy, theory, and etc. in architect's consciousness. Diagram is a kind of media, which transforms architectural schema to real architectural form. It is different from the existing definition of diagram, and acts as a generator reflecting the function of computer algorism and conceptual schema. Therefore, it can make various architectural forms along with the changing of architect's schema and application of computer algorism in design process. That is why we call it as 'the generative diagram'.

This study is to examine the various aspects and theories based on the notion and philosophy for the sustainable urban regeneration through the analysis of the urban decline aspects in history of the urban growth process and inspecting on the conditions and issues of the previous urban regeneration methods. The study is consisted of three following areas : literature review of the general aspects and history regarding urban decline and correspondence, review of the growth and decline of urban core, review of the new trends on the urban generation theories. The result is synthesized to propose the future inquired study of the detailed planning methodology and applicable ideas for the sustainable urban core regeneration after investigating on the various aspects of principles and applicable possibilities for the sustainable urban development and regeneration.

In addition, it is also thought that the satisfaction of all occupants can be higher when subsidiary facilities such as convenient space and sanitation are expanded properly for the number of students residing in them.

Recently, as there have been increasing interest in the condition of solar access with increasingly emerging high-rise and high-density buildings in urban areas, the frequency of disputes about solar access right has increased regarding renewal and reconstruction projects at sites adjacent to educational facilities. However, because the absence of applicable standards or guidelines for assessing the solar access right of educational facilities have caused disputes and conflicts between the parties, it is required to establish such standards or guidelines. In this context, this study aims to suggest the way to improve the methodology of solar access assessment by carrying out an empirical study on the said methodology for educational facilities and setting up the standards for assessing the actually infringed degree of solar access right when the right is infringed.

This paper aims to suggest the direction of improving urban river-scape through the analysis of the characteristics of urban riverscape based on the relations of physical elements and visual preference for urban riverscape in the case of Shincheon River in Daegu. As the results of this study, the three scenic factors are abstracted, and the visual preference for the physical elements is analyzed through the user interview.

It’s difficult for other designer to understand easily, due to existing abstract form-generation method of digital authors like Greg Lynn and Peter D. Eisenman. This study uses IDEFØ process diagram in order to remodel procedures and elements of this abstract 3d based form-generation method. IDEFØ process diagram is the method operated prior to a design of digital program. For object-oriented modeling of each form-generation element technology, IDEFØ process has been modeled. For this sort of IDEFØ process modeling, digital architectural theory and analysis method has been generalized With them above, this study suggests the 3d-based form-generation IDEFØØprocess model for developing digital tool eventually through the object-oriented components and setting up the mutual roles, relation as well. In conclusion, 3d-based form-generation IDEFØprocess model, this study suggests, models form generation methods of existing digital authors using IDEFØ process for developing digital tool in the future.

This article shows an application of Augmented Reality for Korean Cultural Traditional Building. In this case, the Namdaemun Gate; the "National Treasure No.1"of South Korea, was reviewed. We know that, on 10 February 2008, the Namdaemun Gate was burned down under thefire and collapsed although many fireman forces arrived on time. The main reason for the fail of the fire prevention is the difficulty of getting fire under control without knowledge about the basic structure of wooden frameworks. Therefore, along with great progress of digital technology, an applying science of virtual information to architectural heritage buildings is needed. The new technology, Augmented Reality (AR), comes out and brings with itself many advantages for digital architectural design and construction fields. The AR is being considered the new method of design to approach architecture. With the AR environment, the 3D graphic model of Namdaemun Gate can be integrated into real world, and users can interact to it, namely the firemen can gain knowledge of wooden frameworks structure and be trained for emergency case. The main focus of this research is to give educational information on the traditional wooden structure on- and off-site for architectural students, archaeological profession, etc., especially the fireman, using this new technology. In this article, some experiments are shown out to illustrate how the AR system can assist fireman to get knowledge for prevention of fire on wooden traditional buildings.

High-Tech architecture has begun in Europe in early 1800s and progressed consistently by late 20th century. In Korea, architectural works having High-Tech characteristics were not popular until 1980, but after 1980s, owing to economic growth and international events such as Olympic Games and Expo, High-Tech architecture has widely appeared and spread all over the country. After 1990s, it appeared more frequently and varied in diverse ways, and its expression is so various and complex that it is very difficult to define the characteristics of High Tech architecture in korea. To review the architectural works to express High-Tech after 1990, there are many trends to show their characteristics of expression. Analyzing many High-Tech architectural works after 1990, the characteristics of High-Tech expression in Korean contemporary architecture could be got. The results are as follows : The exposition of structure, The Slick-Tech expression, various forms of new structure and engineering technics, the very progressive form of mechanic-aesthetics, the signal expression of digital-media, the environment friendly architecture and so on. Consequently, High-Tech architecture will be varied in diverse ways and its form will be more complicate and complex, so it will be a valuable trial to foresee the future of High-Tech architecture.

This paper aims groping the method to plan ecological network system based on water recycling system and proposing useful suggestion to ecopolis. For this, we tried to construct theoretical ecological network system model, and applied it to case site, Sanneoul ecological village, Seocheon. Lastly, we analysed the effect of ecological network system by measuring the ecological area ratio. In the result of this study, it was revealed that ecological network system based on water recycling system greatly contribute to enhance the ecological feature of human settlement and recycling function of natural environment.

Recently, the variable spaces of complicated building need the new fabricated form panel. To this end, this study considers the form panel which is adjustable to the story height by using main panel, adjustable sub-panel and sub-frames. In order to secure the structural safety of this form panel, this study evaluates the structural capacity of the form panel through the lateral pressure experiments according to the various types of concrete placements.

This paper is aimed to clarify the characteristics of wooden roof trusses in modern age of Korea. These western roof trusses are largely classified with king post roof truss, queen post roof truss, and so on. The king and queen post roof truss are respectively classified with 3 types by the roof span. The king post roof trusses are composed with the principal rafter, tie beam, strut, braces, purlins, and so on. They are spanning up to about 4.5-8m, 9-12m, 12.5-16.2m, each of them has 6, 4, 2 struts and lattice members But there are practically no 6 struts and lattice members in the king post roof truss of wooden architectural properties. The queen post roof truss enable the construction of the very large roof trusses than the king post roof trusses, the knee brace are when bay is more than 5m between the queen posts. An further innovation was the use of iron tie bars in lieu of timber for tensile lattice members(struts) in the trusses.

Measurement and recording of historic buildings are usually carried with hand survey, but recently photogrammetry is applied to building surveying. Ahead of the facade analysis, this study is aimed to measure and record「SEONG-AN」mall streetscape in Cheongju through the photogrammetry method. The architectural photogrammetry is especially appropriate for streetscape, which is very hard for measurement because it has many facades and panoramic views. A survey has been carried out, after classifying 4 types by height and width of buildings. This study is checking problems in measurement and recording with the facades of so many shops in「SEONG-AN」street which is the main pedestrian mall in Cheongju. Proving survey process which solving problems in photogrammetry and hand survey, we expect some problems such as lack of distance by the short width of a street, ridge of roof’s curves and irregular facades. At a more advanced level, where a record of historic building is being made, the photographic record and hand survey will be an integral part of documentation.

With the development of time, it’s getting more and more serious that the spaces in city environment become not abundant and along with it natural environment is missing. In the same time, the communication between indoor and outdoor environment is getting less, too. For solving the problems of worsened city environment and spaces indoor, it’s necessary to utilize the atrium construction to recovery the central function of city and the open spaces indoor. This paper proposed the ecological design scheme of atrium, which has the advantages such as openability, which means through using glasses to create visual impression and widen spaces, continuity, which means integrating spaces indoor and outdoor, and illegibility, which means blur the boundary of spaces indoor and environment outdoor, and at last utilizing the very direct nature of factors which could not be influenced by circumjacent things so that to separate the connections between spaces indoor and natural environment outdoor.
