Recently flash memory is widely used in various mobile devices as storage medium. Nonvolatile memory can be divided into two categories: NAND- and NOR-type flash memory. NOR flash memory is mainly used to store instruction codes for operation; while NAND for data storage. However, NAND does show more economical benefits, that is, it is approximately 30~40% cheaper than NOR flash. Therefore it can be useful to improve NAND flash performance by replacing NOR flash with NAND flash combining with various buffer systems.

Many peer-to-peer (p2p) systems have been studied in distributed, ubiquitous computing environments. Distributed hash table (DHT)-based p2p systems can improve load-balancing even though locality utilization and user mobility are not guaranteed. We propose a mobile locality-based hierarchical p2p overlay network (MLH-Net) to address locality problems without any other services. MLH-Net utilizes mobility features in a mobile environment. MLH-Net is constructed as two layers, an upper layer formed with super-nodes and a lower layer formed with normal-nodes. Because super -nodes can share advertisements, we can guarantee physical locality utilization between a requestor and a target during any discovery process. To overcome a node failure, we propose a simple recovery mechanism. The simulation results demonstrate that MLH-Net can decrease discovery routing hops by 15% compared with JXTA and 66% compared with Chord.
A new approach for k–anonymity based on tabu search and genetic algorithm

Note that k-anonymity algorithm has been widely discussed in the area of privacy protection. In this paper, a new search algorithm to achieve k-anonymity for database application is introduced. A lattice is introduced to form a solution space for a k-anonymity problem and then a hybrid search method composed of tabu search and genetic algorithm is proposed. In this algorithm, the tabu search plays the role of mutation in the genetic algorithm. The hybrid method with independent tabu search and genetic algorithm is compared, and the hybrid approach performs the best in average case.

This paper proposes a performance evaluation method for power consumption of set- top box (STB) stand-by mode transition schemes. A stand-by mode transition scheme characterizes the timing of mode transition. The timing of mode transition affects the duration of stand-by mode operation, and the power consumptions of STB as well. Recently a fast stand-by mode transition scheme (FMT) has been proposed based on user input for selecting the device to be connected to TV. In this paper, we evaluate power consumption of FMT and a conventional mode transition scheme. For the computation of the duration of stand-by mode operation, the user input events are modeled as Poisson process. Simulation results based on the modeling reveals that the proposed scheme is more effective in power saving than the conventional scheme by up to 30%.

The system using augmented reality can save the time and cost. It is verified in various fields under the possibility of a technology by solving unrealistic feeling in the virtual space. Therefore, augmented reality has a variety of the potential to be used. Generally, multimodal senses such as visual/auditory/tactile feed back are well known as a method for enhancing the immersion in case of interaction with virtual object. By adapting tangible object we can provide touch sensation to users. a 3D model of the same scale overlays the whole area of the tangible object; thus, the marker area is invisible. This contributes to enhancing immersive and natural images to users. Finally, multimodal feedback also creates better immersion. In this paper, sound feedback is considered. By further improving immersion learning augmented reality for children with the initial step learning content is presented. Augmented reality is in the intermediate stages between future world and real world as well as its adaptability is estimated more than virtual reality.

This paper presents u-COEX, Ubiquitous-Collaborative Online shopping EXecution system, for small- and mediam- sized business enterprises, based on EPCglobal network. The system is taking advantage of RFID technology promises to optimize the critical processes in the Supply Chain Management. The system consists of five major functions: integrated order management, realtime monitoring and analysis system of sales and inventory, decision support system, integrating with EPCglobal and RFID technology, and u-catalog feature. The prototype implementation was developed for mass electronic market complex and the result revealed the feasibility to be applicable to real market.
