Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the dynamic balance ability and whole body muscle function of field hockey players. Methods: The subjects consisted of 12 university soccer players and eight field hockey players. The anterior, posteromedial, and posterolateral reach directions dynamic balance ability of both feet for the two groups were determined using the Y-balance test kit. Each hand-push, each hand-pull, upper body-push, upper body-pull, trunk rotation, lower body-push, and lower body-pull were measured for the two groups, using the smart muscle testing device. Results: For the Y-balance test, soccer players scored significantly higher than field hockey players for left-posterolateral (p=0.024). Whole-body muscle function measures showed that field hockey players scored significantly higher than soccer players for the right hand-push (p=0.002) and left hand-push (p=0.035). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that soccer players frequently shoot and dribble with their left leg as a stepping foot, and the dynamic balance ability of the left-posterolateral is dominant due to the activation of the tibialis anterior muscle used in the stepping foot. In addition, in the case of field hockey, due to the use of a hockey stick, , the muscle strength of the right hand-push and left hand-push is dominant due to the adaptation of the muscles to the pushing force of the upper body, which is mainly used in movements such as dribbling, passing, and shooting.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the Feldenkrais Method® on the improvement of shoulder joint function in women with desk jobs. Methods: We assessed 14 white-collar women aged 20–30 years. The range of motion of the shoulder joint, cervical mobility, muscle function, and shoulder flexibility were measured. The intervention program used was the Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (ATM), which lasted 70 min and included warm-up and cool-down exercises. Results: The changes in shoulder joint mobility after Feldenkrais ATM were significantly improved in terms of abduction (p=0.001), adduction (p=0.005), flexion (p=0.003), extension (p=0.001), internal rotation (p=0.001), and external rotation (p=0.001). The cervical mobility (p=0.022) and muscle function (p=0.001) were also significantly improved. Changes in shoulder flexibility showed significant effects in both the right arm (p=0.003) and left arm dominant postures (p=0.017). Conclusion: The Feldenkrais Method® can increase joint mobility in the shoulder and can be a good way to improve cervical mobility, muscle function, and shoulder flexibility. These effects are thought to be a good way to prevent pain and improve functional impairment for those with shoulder problems.

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease caused tearing and progressive wear of articular cartilage, and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is recommended to patients with OA. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilita-tion (PNF) and both sides up ball (BOSU) exercises on pain, range of motion (ROM), and muscle function in patients following TKA. Ten par-ticipants who have limitation of the knee joint from TKA were divided into two groups: the continuous passive motion (CPM)+PNF exercise group (n=5) and the CPM+BOUS exercise group (n=5). Exercise reha-bilitation program consisted of PNF and BOSU exercises, and both ex-ercises were performed twice a day for 2 weeks. To examine effect of exercise rehabilitation, visual analogue scale (VAS), sit and reach flexi-bility, knee ROM, and Timed Up and Go test (TUG) were measured be-fore and after exercise intervention. A two-way repeated analysis of variance was used to confirm the main effect. If there was a significant interaction effect, an independent t-test between groups or a paired t-test between times was applied. VAS, sit and reach flexibility, knee ROM and TUG did not show interaction between the PNF and BOSU exercise groups, but all measured variables showed significant differ-ences over time. Present findings provide information that PNF and BOSU exercise rehabilitation after TKA might be an important part of ensuring successful surgical outcomes as they have a positive impact on reducing pain, increasing ROM, improving muscle strength, and en-hancing daily life movements.

본 연구는 저항성 운동 후 각기 다른 형태의 정리운동 참여에 따른 직장인의 수면의 질, 통증 및 근기능에 미치는 영향을 비교하여 효율적인 정리운동 프로그램을 제시하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구대상은 20~30대 사무직 여성 직장인 33 명을 대상으로 하였다. 연구 참여자는 유산소 운동그룹(n=11명), 폼롤러 그룹(n=12),정적 스트레칭 그룹(n=10)으로 무선 배정한 후 하지 저항성 운동을 실시하였다. 저항성 운동 후 세 가지 정리운동을 각각 실시하였고 24시간 후에 졸음척도, 통증, 근기능을 측정 하였다. 연구결과 각각의 정리운동 후 졸음척도에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며, 통증에서는 집단 및 상호작용 효과는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며, 시기 간 차이만 나타났다(p<.05). 근기능에서도 집단 및 상호작용 효과는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며, 시기 간 차이만 나타났다.(p=<.01). 결론적으로 사무직 여성 을 대상으로 저항성 운동 참여 후 정리운동 방법에 따른 차이는 미비하며, 정리운동의 형태보다는 정리운동 참여 자체에 의의가 있는 것으로 확인되었다.
This study was conducted to suggest an efficient cool-down program by comparing the effects of different types of cool-down exercise on the sleep quality, pain, and muscle function of office workers after resistance exercise. The subjects of this study were 33 office workers in their 20s and 30s. The participants were randomly assigned to an aerobic exercise group (n=11), a foam roller group (n=12), and a static stretching group (n=10), and then performed lower extremity resistance exercise. After resistance exercise, each of the three cool-down exercises was performed, and sleepiness scale, muscle pain, and muscle function were measured 24 hours later. As a result of the study, there was no statistically significant difference in the sleepiness scale after each cool-down exercise, and there was no significant difference in the group and interaction effects in the pain, only the difference between periods (p<.05). There were no significant differences in group and interaction effects in muscle function, only differences between periods (p=<.01). In conclusion, it was confirmed that the difference according to the cool-down exercise type after resistance exercise was insignificant for female office workers and that participation in the cool-down exercise itself was more meaningful than the type of the cool-down exercise.
고등학교 농구선수의 성별에 따른 등속성 무릎 관절 근기능 비교 분석 KCI 등재

본 연구는 농구선수의 성별에 따른 등속성 무릎관절 근기능에 대한 차이를 알아보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 고등학교 농구 선수 총 23명(남자: 11명, 여자: 12명)을 대상으로 Biodex를 이용하여 60゚/sec와 90゚/sec 각속도에 서 무릎관절 굴곡근과 신전근에 대한 등속성 근기능을 측정하였으며, 최대근력, 체중당 최대근력, 평균 근파워, HQ ratio 에 대해 집단내 좌·우측 및 성별에 대한 차이를 분석하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 60゚/sec와 90゚/sec 등속성 근기 능에서 남녀 모두 좌우측에 대한 차이는 없었지만, 여자 선수는 남자 선수에 비해 유의하게 낮았다. 둘째, 60゚/sec와 90゚ /sec의 HQ ratio는 남녀 모두 좌우측에 대한 차이는 없었지만 좌측의 경우 여자 선수는 남자 선수에 비해 유의하게 낮았다. 이러한 결과는 여자 농구 선수의 근기능 상태가 남자 농구 선수에 비해 매우 부족할 뿐만 아니라 HQ ratio가 낮다는 것을 의미한 다. 따라서 여자 농구 선수들의 상해예방 및 경기력 향상을 위해서는 무릎관절의 근력 및 근파워 트레이닝을 통한 하지 근력의 강화가 이루어져야 할 것이며, 특히 무릎관절 굴곡근 강화에 대한 트레이닝 프로그램이 마련되어야 할 것으로 생각된다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the gender difference in the isokinetic muscle function of the knee joint in high school basketball players. Twenty-three high school basketball players (11 males and 12 females) participated in this study. The knee flexion and extension were measured at 60 degrees/sec and 90 degrees/sec angular velocity using Biodex for the evaluation of isokinetic muscle function, and the difference between the two lower limbs for maximum muscle strength, maximum muscle power per body weight, average muscle power, and HQ ratio were analyzed. As a result of the study, there was no significant difference in the left and right measurement values for both men and women in the isokinetic muscle function of 60 degrees/sec and 90 degrees/sec, but the results of female athletes were significantly lower than male athletes. The HQ ratios of 60゚/sec and 90゚/sec did not differ from both men and women, but the values of left legs in female athletes was significantly lower than those of male athletes. Thus, the lower isokinetic muscle function and HQ ratio of female basketball players indicate an insufficient isokinetic muscle function ability comparted to men players. Therefore, in order to prevent injury and improve performance of female basketball players, it is necessary to strengthen the lower extremity muscle strength through muscle strength and muscle power training of the knee joint, and in particular, it is recommended that a training program for strengthening knee joint flexion should be prepared.

본 연구는 성인 지적장애인의 운동프로그램 참여가 근기능에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 기존에 보고된 연구결과를 질적으로 합성하기 위해 체계적문헌고찰과 양적 합성을 위해 메타분석 을 수행하였다. 문헌 선정은 PRISMA 가이드라인을 준수하였고, 선정된 연구는 문헌의 특성을 파악하였다. 문헌의 질 평가는 Risk of Bias 평가 도구를 사용하였다. 메타분석은 R 4.2.2 프로그램 사용하였으며, 주요 결 과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 운동프로그램은 성인 지적장애인의 근력 향상 에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 운동프로그램 은 성인 지적장애인의 근지구력 향상에 유의미하게 높은 수준의 효과 크기를 보였다. 셋째, 운동프로그램은 성인 지적장애인의 근기능 향상에 중간 수준의 유의미한 효과 크기를 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 성인 지적 장애인의 근기능 향상을 위해 다양한 운동프로그램을 적용할 수 있음을 시사한다. 또한 향후 연구 수행 시 주의가 필요한 운동프로그램 설계 및 측정 도구 설정에 대한 근거가 될 것으로 기대한다.
This study aimed to effects of exercise program on muscle function in adults with intellectual disabilities. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to qualitatively and quantitatively synthesize existing research findings. Literature selection followed the PRISMA guidelines, and the characteristics of the included studies were analyzed. Literature quality was assessed using the Risk of Bias tool. Meta-analsysis was performed using R 4.2.2. Main findings were as follows. First, exercise program did not significant improve muscle strength. Second, exercise programs demonstrated a significantly large effect size in improving muscle endurance. Third, exercise program had a statistically significant medium effect size on muscle function. These findings suggest that exercise program can effectively improve muscle function in adults with intellectual disabilities. Futhermore, the results inform the design of exercise program and the selection of appropriate measurement tools in future research.
종아리 기능성 의류가 발목 관절 근기능에 미치는 영향 KCI 등재

본 연구에서는 종아리 근육에 기능성 의류를 착용한 것이 종아리의 근기능에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 규명하고 기능성 의류가 종아리 근기능 증가에 활용가치가 있는지 검증하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구의 대상은 하지에 이상이 없는 B 대학교의 남학생 21명을 대상으로 측정 하였다. 측정방법은 등속성근기능측정기인 CSMI사의 Humac Norm을 이용하여 오른쪽, 왼쪽 종아리에 기능성 의류 착용 전, 후 각속도 30°/sec, 120°/sec로 측정하였다. 피실험자들이 기능성 의류를 착용했을 때와 착용하지 않았을 때를 측정 해본 결과 발목 배측굴곡(Dorsi flexion) 에서는 기능성 의류를 착용했을 때와 착용하지 않았을 때 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으나, 발목 저측굴곡 (Plantar flexion)에서는 기능성 의류를 착용하였을 때 근력, 근파워, 근지구력이 유의하게 증가하는 것으로 나타 났다. 따라서 종아리의 기능성 의류 착용이 운동기능 향상에 긍정적 효과가 있으며, 향후 연구에서는 대회를 앞두고 훈련을 하는 선수에게 기능성 의류를 착용한 인원과 착용하지 않은 인원의 근기능 향상정도를 비교해보는 연구를 제시하는 바이다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of wearing functional clothing over calf muscles on the muscle function of the calf and to verify whether functional clothing can increase calf muscle function. The participants of the study were 21 male students from University B who had no lower extremity abnormality. The measurement method was measured at 30°/sec and 120°/sec angle speed before and after wearing functional clothing on the right and left calves using Humac Norm of CSMI, a constant speed muscle function measuring instrument. No significant difference was observed during dorsiflexion when wearing functional clothing, but in plantar flexion, muscle strength and muscle endurance were significantly increased. Therefore, wearing functional clothing over the calves showed a positive effect on improving exercise function, and future research suggests a study comparing the degree of muscle function improvement between those wearing functional clothing and those not wearing it for athletes training ahead of the competition.

본 연구는 도농복합지역에 거주하는 장년층 남성(50~64세)을 대상으로 도시 및 농촌 생활권에 따른 신 체조성, 하지 형태학적 지표 및 근기능의 차이를 비교하고자 수행되었다. 연구 대상자는 도시 생활권 거주군(UG= 125)과 농촌 생활권 거주군(RG= 116)으로 구분하였으며, 신체 조성, 대퇴위 및 하퇴위, 악력, 등척성 슬관절 신전근력을 측정하였다. 연구 결과, UG는 RG보다 골격근량, 체질량지수(BMI), 허리-엉덩이비율(WHR)이 유의하게 높고, 체지방 률은 유의하게 낮은(p<.05)것으로 나타나, 보다 건강한 신체조성 특성을 보였다. 형태학적 지표에서는 UG 의 대퇴위 및 하퇴위가 RG보다 유의하게 높은 둘레가 나타났다(p<.01). 근기능 지표인 악력과 등척성 슬 관절 신전근력 또한 UG에서 유의하게 높은 수준을 나타냈다(p<.01). 이상의 결과로, 농촌지역 장년층 남성은 전반적인 신체지표에서 도시 거주자보다 낮은 수준을 보였으 며, 이는 향후 근감소증으로의 이행 가능성을 시사한다. 따라서 지역사회 차원의 적극적인 예방과 함께, 근력운동 중심의 신체활동과 건강한 생활습관 개선을 위한 중재가 요구된다.
Objectives This study aimed to compare body composition, lower limb morphology, and muscle function between middle-aged men (aged 50–64 years) living in urban and rural areas. Methods A total of 241 participants were classified into an urban group (UG; n=125) and a rural group (RG; n=116). Measurements included body composition, thigh and calf circumference, handgrip strength, and lower limb extension strength. Results Compared to the RG, the UG showed significantly higher skeletal muscle mass, body mass index (BMI), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), but significantly lower body fat percentage (p<.05). Thigh and calf circumferences were also significantly greater in the UG than in the RG (p<.01). Muscle function indicators, including handgrip strength and leg extensor strength, were significantly higher in the UG (p<.01). Conclusions Middle-aged men in rural areas exhibited lower overall physical indicators than their urban counterparts, suggesting a higher risk of progression to sarcopenia. Therefore, community-level preventive interventions, including resistance -based physical activity and lifestyle modifications, are warranted.
아마추어 선수의 만성 발목 불안정성이 발목 안쪽번짐과 가쪽번짐 근 기능에 미치는 영향 KCI 등재

이 연구는 만성 발목 불안정성을 가진 아마추어 운동선수 30명을 대상으로 발목 안쪽번짐과 가쪽번짐의 등속성 근 기능 평가를 통해 환측과 건측 간 최대근력, 근지구력, 근피로도, 안쪽번짐 대비 가쪽번짐의 근 기능 차이를 분석하여 만성 발목 불안정성 환자의 운동처방 기초자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 등속성 근 기능 평가는 환측과 건측에 각속도 60 °/sec으로 4회, 180 °/sec으로 25회를 각각 실시하여 최대우력, 총일량을 산출하여 본 연구에 활용하였다. 자료처리는 만성 발목 불안정성 운동선수의 환측과 건측 간 최대근력, 근지구력, 근피로도, 안쪽번짐 대비 가쪽번짐 근 기능 비율 차이를 검증하기 위해 독립표본 t-검정(Independent t-test)을 실시하였다. 만성 발목 불안정성이 있는 환측은 건측에 비해 안쪽번짐(p<.05)과 가쪽번짐(p<.01)의 최대근력이 낮았고, 안쪽번짐과 가쪽번짐의 근지구력(p<.05) 역시 통계적 으로 유의하게 낮게 나타났다. 근피로도와 안쪽번짐 대비 가쪽번짐 근 기능 비율은 환측과 건측 간 통계적 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 연구 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 아마추어 선수의 만성 발목 불안정성은 발목 안쪽번짐 과 가쪽번짐의 최대근력과 근지구력을 감소시키는 원인이 될 수 있을 것이다. 둘째, 아마추어 선수의 만성 발목 불안정성은 발목 안쪽번짐과 가쪽번짐의 근피로도와 발목 안쪽번짐 대비 가쪽번짐의 근 기능 비율에 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 사료된다.
This study was conducted to evaluate the isokinetic muscle function of ankle eversion and inversion of 30 amateur athletes with chronic ankle instability. The purpose of this study is to provide basic exercise prescription data for patients with chronic ankle instability by evaluating the maximum muscle strength, muscular endurance, muscle fatigue and muscle function ratio of ankle eversion and inversion difference between the involved and non-involved. Isokinetic muscle function evaluation was performed 4 repetitions at 60°/ sec angular velocity and 25 repetitions at 180〬 / sec angular velocity on the affected to calculate the peak torque and total work. Independent t-test was performed to examine the difference in the maximum muscle strength, muscular endurance, muscle fatigue, and muscle function ratio of ankle eversion and inversion to the amateur athletes with chronic ankle instability. Involved in chronic ankle instability was lower in invertor (p<.05) and evertor (p<.01) than non-involved and statistically significantly lower invertor and evertor muscular endurance(p<.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the muscle fatigue and muscle function ratio of ankle eversion and inversion between the involved and non-involved. The results of this study are as follows. First, the chronic ankle instability of amateur athletes may be reduce the maximum muscle strength and endurance of the invertor and evertor ankles. Second, the chronic ankle instability of amateur athletes may not affect the muscle fatigue and muscle function ratio of ankle eversion and inversion between the involved and non-involved.
농촌지역 장노년층 남성들의 생애주기별 신체조성, 형태학 및 근기능 특성에 관한 연구 KCI 등재후보

본 연구는 농촌지역 장노년층을 대상으로 생애주기별 신체조성, 형태학적 측면 및 근기능 특징을 알 아보고자 연구하였다. 장노년층 244명을 대상으로 50대(n=60), 60대(n=65), 70대(n=62), 80대(n=57) 4개의 그룹으로 나누어 신체조성상태, 대퇴와 하퇴위, 골격근지수, 근력 및 근기능을 측정·분석하였다. 연구결 과, 신체조성 상태의 특성은 연령이 증가함에 따라 골격근량과 체질량지수가 유의하게 감소하였고, 체지 방률과 세포외 수분비는 유의하게 증가하였다. 형태학적 특성에서는 양측 대퇴위와 하퇴위 및 골격근지 수가 연령이 증가함에 따라 유의하게 감소했다. 근기능 특성에서는 연령이 증가함에 따라 양측 악력, 각 근 신전력의 감소와 의자에 앉았다 일어서기 5회 수행시간이 유의하게 감소하였다. 따라서 이상의 결과로부터 농촌지역의 남성 장노년층은 연령이 증가함에 따라 근육량은 감소하고 체 지방률은 증가하여 근력과 근기능이 저하되는 것으로 나타나 장년층부터의 적극적인 신체관리가 매우 필요하다는 것으로 시사되었다.
Objectives This study was conducted to investigate changes in body composition, morphological aspects, and muscle function by life cycle in elderly people in rural areas. Methods 244 elderly people were divided into 4 groups. :50s (n=60), 60s (n=65), 70s (n=62), 80s (n=57). Body composition, morphology, and muscle function characteristics of the subjects were measured and analyzed. Results In terms of body composition, skeletal muscle mass and body mass index significantly decreased with age, and body fat percentage and extracellular water ratio significantly increased. IIn terms of morphological characteristics, bilateral thigh and calf circumferences, along with SMI, significantly decreased with increasing age. In terms of muscle function characteristics, as age increased, there was a significant decrease in bilateral grip strength, leg strength, and a significant increase in the ability to perform 5-chair rises. Conclusions From these results, it was suggested that elderly men in rural areas decrease muscle mass and increase body fat percentage in the body as they age, which reduces muscle strength and muscle function. This highlights the critical need for proactive physical management starting from middle age.
마카섭취와 저항성 운동프로그램이 근 기능에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 마카섭취와 저항성 운동프로그램이 성인남자들의 근 기능에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 실시하였다. C시 성인 남성들을 대상으로 보충제 섭취와 규칙적인 저항성 운동을 수행하지 않은 15명을 무선배정하여 대조군(n=8, age=30.25±4.89)과 실험군(n=7, age=20.42±3.50)으로 분 류하였다. 실험군은 폴라(polar)를 착용하여 목표심박수의 70~80% 강도로 8주동안 주3회, 일일 60분 동안 실시하였다. 대조군과 실험군 모두 기 초체력검사와 근기능 평가를 실시하였으며, 채혈을 통해 총 콜레스테롤과 고밀도지단백콜레스테롤을 분석하였다. 그 결과 기초체력에서 교차윗몸일으키기가 19.35% 유의하게 증가하였다(p<.05). 근기능에서 몸통굴곡근력이 23.02%, 몸통신전근지구력이 45.74%, 몸통굴곡근지구력이 20.78% 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다(p<.05). 따라서 성인남성들에게 마카섭취와 저항성운동은 남성들의 기초 체력에서 근지구력 향상에 효과적이었으며, 근기능의 몸통굴근과 신근의 지구력 향상에 효과적인 것으로 나타나 지속적인 마카섭취와 저항성운 동이 요구된다.
This study was conducted to determine the effect of maca intake and resistance exercise programs on muscle function in adult men. At C, 15 adult males who did not take supplements and perform regular resistance exercises were radio-assigned to control groups (n=8, age=30.25±4.89), and experimental groups (n=7,age=20.42±3.50). The group wore a polar to perform three times a week for eight weeks and 60 minutes a day at a strength of 70–80% of the target heart rate. Both the control group and the experimental group conducted basic fitness tests and muscle function evaluations, and total cholesterol and high density lipoprotein cholesterol were analyzed through blood collection. As a result, there was a significant 19.35% increase in cross-linking in underlying fitness (p<.05). In muscle function, there was a statistical significant increase of 23.02% in flexor muscle strength, 45.74% in pre-body communication endurance, and 20.78% in flexor muscle endurance (p<.05). Therefore, maca intake and resistance exercise were effective in improving muscle endurance in men's basic physical strength, and continued maca intake and resistance exercise were shown to be effective in improving muscle strength and muscle endurance.

Purpose: This study was conducted to establish a safe and effective way to participate in sports activities by analyzing the dynamic balance ability and whole body muscle function according to the functional movement score (FMS) and by confirming the effect on the exercise performance ability of college students. Methods: We assessed 27 male college students. They were divided into the High FMS group and Low FMS group based on a total score of 14. The dynamic balance ability of both arms and feet was measured with the Y-balance test kit, and each hand-push, hand-pull, upper body-push, upper body-push, trunk rotation, lower body-push, and lower body-pull were measured with the smart muscle testing device. Results: The Lower Quarter Y-balance test and whole body muscle function measurements showed that the High FMS group was significantly higher than the Low FMS group (p<.05) in all items. The Upper Quarter Y-balance test measurements of the High FMS group was significantly higher than that of the Low FMS group in the right medial (p=0.016), right composite (p=0.004), and left composite (p=0.021). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the High FMS group's Lower Quarter dynamic balance ability, Upper Quarter dynamic balance ability, and whole body muscle function were superior to those of the Low FMS group, confirming that the FMS score is related to the general public's exercise performance ability. Therefore, it seems that it can be provided as basic data for safe and effective training for the general public's continuous participation in sports activities.

본 연구는 스포츠 현장에서 부상예방으로 많이 사용되고 있는 탄력 테이핑을 슬관절 굴곡과 신전에 적용하여 근력, 근파워, 근지구력에 미치는 영향을 검증하기 위해 진행하였다. 연구 대상자는 슬관절의 굴곡과 신전 운동에 이상이 없는 남자 대학생 10명으로 하였다. 측정방법은 등속성근기능측정 장비를 활용하여 슬관절 굴근과 신근에 키네시오 테이핑을 적용 전, 후로 각속도 60°/sec 5회, 180°/sec 5회, 240°/sec 25회를 측정하였다. 연구결과는 슬관절 신전 시 키네시오 테이핑 적용 전보다 후에 우측 각속도 180°/sec에서 Average Power가 유의하게 증가하였다 (p=.010). 슬관절 굴곡 시 키네시오 테이핑 적용 전보다 후에 우측 각속도 180°/sec에서 Average Power가 유의하게 증가하였다(p=.016). 또한 각속도 240°/sec에서는 Total Work Done에서 좌(p=.002), 우(p=.002) 모두 유의하게 증가하였다. 대퇴직근과 대퇴이두근에 키네시오 테이핑 적용이 슬관절 운동 시 근파워과 근지구력을 향상시키는 보조 적인 영향이 긍정적으로 나타났다.
This study was conducted to verify the effect of elastic-taping on the strength, power, and endurance of muscles. Elastic-taping is widely used in sports for preventing injuries due to flexion and extension of the knee joints. The participants of this study were 10 male college students with no abnormalities in knee flexion and extension movements. The function of flexors and extensors of the knee joint were assessed using the isokinetic muscle function measurement equipment at angular velocities of 60°/sec, 5 times; 180°/sec, 5 times; 240°/sec, 25 times before and after applying Kinesio taping. It was observed that the average power of muscles after application of Kinesio taping during knee extension on the right side was significantly increased at angular velocity of 180°/sec (p=.010). During knee flexion, the average power was significantly increased at the right angular velocity of 180° /sec after Kinesio taping was applied (p=.016). In addition, at an angular velocity of 240°/sec, both left (p=.002) and right (p=.002) sides showed significant increase in total work done. The application of Kinesio taping to the rectus femoris and biceps femoris showed a positive effect on improving muscle power and endurance during knee joint exercise.

본 연구는 4주간 여자운동선수들의 블랙마카 섭취가 신체구성, 염증인자인 CRP와 CK, 근기능검사에서 Trunk의 근력(60°/sec)과 근지구력(180°/sec)에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 규명하고자 실시하였다. 본 연구 는 강원도 소재의 C시 K대학에 재학 중인 여자운동선수들과 S시 소속 여자운동선수를 대상(총 10명)으로 선정하였다. 이들 대상자들은 4주간 일상적으로 해오던 훈련을 그대로 진행하였으며, 하루에 5g의 블랙마 카(2포)를 섭취하였다. 자료처리는 SPSS 24.0을 이용하여 섭취 전과 후의 차이를 T-test를 이용하여 검증 하였다. 통계적 유의수준은 ɑ=.05로 설정하였다. 블랙마카의 섭취를 4주간 진행한 후 신체구성인 체중과 BMI, 염증지표인 CRP와 근기능검사에서 180°/sec 폄근에서 유의한 차이를 나타내었으나 다른 염증지표 인 CK와 다른 근 기능검사에서는 유의한 차이를 볼 수 없었다. 그러나 염증지표인 CK에서도 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 결론적으로 4주 동안의 블랙마카섭취가 여자운동선수들에게 항염증반응과 근 기능의 발 달에 효과가 있는 것으로 판단되었다.
Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise and intake maca for 4 week on body composition and inflammatory factors in female athletics. Methods This study was conducted on 10 female athletes, and it was intended to investigate the effect on body composition, inflammatory factors, and muscle function levels after they consumed 5g of black maca a day with training for 4 weeks. Results In this study, after 4 weeks of training and taking black maca, there was a significant decrease in BMI and both CRP and CK tended to decrease in inflammatory factors, and also a significant decrease in CRP. In the muscle function level, it was found that the muscle endurance decreased significantly at 180°EXT. Conclusions Consequently, in this study, it is judged that the training and the intake of black maca had a positive effect on the inflammatory factors and muscle function levels of female athletes, which had a positive effect on body composition.

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of changing the tilt angle of the exercise bed on physiological characteristics of trapezius, multifidus, and hamstring muscle function. Methods: Twenty elderly who complains of back and lumbar pain or discomfort participated in this study (average age: 64.70±4.55 years). The physiological characteristics, including muscle tone (F), dynamic stiffness (S), and elasticity (D) of trapezius, multifidus, and hamstring muscles were measured by a Myoton device at three tilt angles (0, 15, and 30 degrees) during exercise. Results: The muscle tone, dynamic stiffness, and elasticity of the right trapezius and left hamstring muscle showed significant differences (p<0.05) according to exercise bed tilt angle, while the other muscles showed no significant differences. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that physiological characteristics of the upper and lower extremity muscles are affected ipsilaterally, according to the tilt angles of the exercise bed.
Effects of Rhythmik Program on Isokinetic Muscle Function and Static Ability

Background Music serves as an ergogenic aid for enhancing exercise performance, while Rhythmik is the study of organic bodily motion expression in response to music. Purpose This study aimed to investigate the impact of the music-based movement program, Rhythmik exercise, on leg strength and static balance ability. Study design A case-series study. Methods Nine healthy women aged 20?40 years participated in an eight-week music-based exercise program called Rhythmik exercise. This exercise program comprised three 60-min sessions per week. Leg strength and endurance were assessed using an isokinetic device, measuring parameters including speed, force power, for knee flexor and extensor muscles. Static balance was evaluated by performing one-legged standing with eyes closed and open. Results Following the Rhythmik exercise program, significant improvements were observed in average speed, maximum speed, average power, maximum power of knee extensor muscle, and flexor muscle strength. Additionally, a significant enhancement in static balance ability was observed, both with open eyes and closed eyes. Conclusions The music-based Rhythmik exercise program may enhance leg strength and static balance ability. This suggests that Rhythmik exercise could be considered a viable and engaging alternative exercise regimen for enhancing lower limb function and stability.

Changes in Function and Muscle Strength of Encephalitis Survivors After Inpatient Rehabilitation

Objective To investigate the clinical demographics and rehabilitative assessments of encephalitis survivors admitted to a rehabilitation center, and to confirm the effects of inpatient rehabilitation manifested by changes in muscle strength and function after hospitalization.Methods Data of encephalitis survivors who received rehabilitation at our institution from August 2009 to August 2019 were reviewed. Medical charts were retrospectively reviewed, and motor, functional, and cognitive assessments were collected. Manual muscle testing (MMT), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Functional Ambulation Category (FAC), Korean version of Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI), grip strength, Box and Block Test (BBT), and Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination (K-MMSE) were performed, and the results upon admission and discharge were compared and analyzed.Results Most of the patients with encephalitis admitted to our institution had viral or autoimmune etiologies. The assessment results of 18 encephalitis patients upon admission and discharge were compared. The total K-MBI score, FAC, grip strength, and BBT significantly improved, but not the MMT and FMA. Subgroup analysis was performed for viral and autoimmune encephalitis, which are the main causes of the disease, but there was no difference in items with significant changes before and after hospitalization. Conclusion Encephalitis survivors showed a significant improvement in functional assessment scale during their hospital stay through rehabilitation, without significant changes in motor strength. Hence, we can conclude that encephalitis survivors benefit from inpatient rehabilitation, targeting functional gains in activities of daily living training more than motor strength.
Muscle Pathology Associated With Cardiac Function in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Objective: To compare the progression of muscle fibrosis of various site and its relation between cardiac deterioration in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). In this study aimed to examine the associations between echocardiogram-based cardiac function indices and fibrosis of the abdominal and lower extremity muscles in patients with DMD to facilitate early detection of cardiac dysfunction and identify its predictors.Methods: Twenty-one patients with DMD patients were enrolled in the study. The association between cardiac dysfunction and fibrosis of the abdominal and lower extremity muscles was determined by analyzing the echocardiography and elastography. Non-parametric Spearman rank correlation coefficients were used to examine the pairwise relationships between cardiac function and muscle elasticity.Results: All patients were male and non-ambulant. Their mean age was 18.45±4.28 years. The strain ratios of the abdominal muscle and quadriceps muscles were significantly higher than those of the medial gastrocnemius. The strain ratio of the rectus abdominis muscle has a significant negative correlation with left ventricular ejection fraction. Cardiac function and valvular insufficiency were not significantly correlated with muscle strain ratio. According to the result of our study, the only skeletal muscle which showed significant correlation with cardiac dysfunction was degree abdominal muscle fibrosis.Conclusion: The degree of fibrosis of respiratory muscles was also significantly associated with cardiac dysfunction; therefore, it can be used as a predictor of cardiac dysfunction in patients with DMD in clinical practice.

Objective: To systematically review the effects of protein supplementation in older adults with sarcopenia.Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases until May 2023. The inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) randomized controlled trials with a quantitative study design; (2) studies with a study group of older adults with sarcopenia; (3) studies comparing muscle mass, muscle strength, and performance of older adults with sarcopenia after protein supplementation; and (4) studies published up to May 2023.Results: Six retrospective comparative studies, including 715 patients, met the inclusion criteria. The nutritional supplementation group exhibited significant improvement in appendicular skeletal muscle mass (standardized mean difference [SMD]=0.41; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.24?0.58; p<0.001; I<sup>2</sup>=1%), while handgrip strength (SMD=0.37; 95% CI, -0.32?1.07; p=0.29; I<sup>2</sup>=94%) and Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) (SMD=0.35; 95% CI, -0.47?1.18; p=0.40; I<sup>2</sup>=94%) showed a tendency for improvement.Conclusion: Nutritional supplementation with protein increased appendicular muscle mass in older adults with sarcopenia and improved handgrip strength and SPPB scores.
