The study examined the relationship between the Academic Hardiness and Motivational Beliefs, Goals and Values of tertiary students towards mathematics learning. The respondents of the study consist of about 167 BS Mathematics third year students of the Bulacan State University during Academic Year 2016-2017. The descriptive – correlational method of research was employed in the study. To gather the necessary data, the researcher adopted two instruments - the Academic Hardiness Scale developed by Benishek and Lopez (2001) and the Learning Motivation Questionnaire, a section from the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) developed by Duncan and McKeachie (2005). Pearson correlation analysis and Test of significance were used to interpret the results. The study showed that among the three related attitudes of Academic Hardiness (Commitment, Control and Challenge), the students posted the highest mean in the Commitment domain. Seemingly, the difficulty posed by mathematics has not negated students’ interest and involvement in doing their mathematical tasks. Regarding the status of the students’ Motivational Beliefs, Goals and Values toward mathematics learning, results yielded a high overall mean rating reflective of the high ratings received in almost all the motivational constructs: Intrinsic Goal Orientation, Extrinsic Goal Orientation, Task Value, Controls of Learning Beliefs, Self-Efficacy for Learning and Performance except Test anxiety. The highest perceived mean is on Task Value which demonstrates the respondents expressed interest in mathematics and their acknowledge importance of the subject in their preparation to life-long learning. For Test Anxiety, perceived mean rating is average. This result simply reiterates the psychological distress experienced by students when taking examinations in mathematics. Lastly, analysis also showed that students’ Academic Hardiness and the identified motivational constructs has significant positive correlation with each other.

Hospital service quality is the variation between the patient’s perceptions about the services delivered by a healthcare organization and their expectations about healthcare organizations delivering such services. Patient perspective is the ultimate indicator of healthcare service quality as it enables them to judge the performance of the services provided by the hospital. A huge gap exists between the quality of the healthcare services provided by the hospitals in rural and urban areas. The quantitative study was conducted to understand the perceptional differences in the service quality between the urban and rural hospitals. It was a survey that documented the patient perspective of hospital service quality by measuring various dimensions like healthcare delivery, facilities, financial access to care, diagnostic aspects of care, health personnel conduct and drug availability. The sample consisted of 115 residents, chosen based on convenience, from urban and rural areas. The responses were analyzed using SPSS 20 software. From the findings, it was inferred that there are perceptional differences in the service quality between rural and urban hospitals. Further, perceptional differences exist in the facilities provided between the rural and urban hospitals. Financial and physical access to care widely differ between rural and urban hospitals. Overall, the perception of service quality is higher in the urban hospitals than in the rural hospitals. Thus, study provides insights to the hospital administrators and the managers in enhancing the quality of services, based on the perceptions and needs of the patients.

The spread of Corona virus (COVID-19) is pandemic. As the congress enacted the Bayanihan: to Heal as One Act, officially designated as Republic Act No. 11469, the president implemented the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon. Due to ECQ, there is the cessation of work, business, schooling and transportation; so people just stay at home to avoid contagion. It was in this contention that the researchers conducted this study to explore and navigate the thoughts and perspectives of the 15 graduating college students about their lived experiences during the ECQ. The only instrument employed in this research was the closed-fixed interview that covered both factual and meaning-generation level. There were no predetermined questions asked, in order to remain as open and adaptable as possible to the participants’ thoughts and perspectives on the enhanced community quarantine thru their value judgment lenses. The researchers prepared interview questions; participants were asked thru phone calls and skype. Responses were analyzed and categorized to extract their thoughts and perspectives. Conclusions were drawn and future research directions were offered.
