In paying attention to the phenomena of over-access and spiritual pursuits in the Korean society nowadays, how to enter into a dynamic relationship overcoming separation is a more important issue than ever before, and the Enneagram plays a meaningful role in addressing the issue. Basically, the Enneagram offers the tools for self-knowledge and self-understanding and provides the wisdoms to understand others and to create various relationships. Morever, the Enneagram is useful to explore the creative self that can overcome conflicts and sufferings of social self beyond the selfish ego. In this regard, the Enneagram is not limited to character study or the improvement of human relationship, but can develop spiritual wisdom and potential on a wider range. Therefore, I emphasize spiritual implications of the Enneagram, because it provides a holistic spirituality which is based on the insights into the inherent meaning and the transcendence possibility of the ego and into the interconnection of all things, including the self. With such outlines in mind I have first examined the concept of spirituality, and then revealed spiritual implications of the Enneagram. Third and finally, I have presented practical examples of the Enneagram in pursuit of spirituality.

Purpose : This study analyzes the process of spirituality restoration of the Enneagram type 2, 3, 4. Methods : The study discusses the process of disidentification with personality type following the identification with it, and tries to associate the results with the Christian spirituality. Results : The process of disidentifying with discovering negative aspects of one’s personality requires a conscious effort. This process also requires enduring the voluntary suffering, which is same as crucifying oneself. Furthermore, we can accept the gift of Grace when we reveal ourselves. Conclusion : The more one accepts the negative aspects of one’s personality, the greater the possibility of self-change becomes. Self-change is transition of the state of being, a restoration of the Essential nature, and a restoration of the Christian spirituality.

Enneagram is a tool for our spiritual awakening, helping us to identify our egos and look into its artificiality, thereby making us understand our relationship with the world and realize its superficiality. The awareness can be given differently according to the characteristics formed through the process of our spiritual growth, and can be achieved more efficiently by choosing the respective approach for such characteristics. For this, enneagram categorizes people into 3 groups of the heart type, the head type and the belly type, subcategorizing it again and again into diverse types, to provide a guideline of self-awareness and spiritual training for each of these categories and subcategories. This paper aims at calling attention to the original intent of the enneagram theory and practice, by re-examining the specific cases of enneagram spiritual training for the belly type persons and its theoretical grounds. In other words, it tries to figure out what it means to realize the ‘true essence’ as emphasized in enneagram discourses. Here, this paper will make an attempt of abstraction on a more enhanced level by drawing a new analysis of the belly type personality and its way of spiritual training based on theoretical evidences from the oriental tradition and the recent scientific findings. Deeper reflection on the meaning of the belly, or the intestines, in the concept of the ‘belly type personality’ will be tried, following case study of the belly-type spiritual training for this purpose.

Purpose : This study was to analyse the portrait characteristics of enneagram type 2, 3 and 4, to obtain inner dynamic of the feeling triad. Methods : The study was descriptive study based on analyzing portrait characteristics of enneagram type 2, 3 and 4. Results : Portrait characteristics of the feeling triad were positive and optimistic, express themselves. But, the result of detailed analysis with 2, 3 and 4 was there. Conclusion : Analysis of portraits, which has an enneagram type of visual data that can unconscious desire to understand the level of health and emotions as meaningful.
