This study examines the actual condition of use of scalp and hair cosmetics for women in their 10s to 60s who are busy with work, childcare, and learning. Also it verifies the effects of rough hair improvement and usability and satisfaction of hair products that are harmless to the scalp through self-home care using hair essence. This study not only contributes to healthy and beautiful hair management of women, but also provides basic data for continuously growing scalp and hair industries, and related studies. The results of this study are as follows: First, as a result of the purchase and use of hair cosmetics, essence/serum were used the most, except for shampoo and conditioner/treatment basically used in scalp and hair cosmetics. Most of the respondent purchased hair cosmetics once in every two to three months through the internet and home shopping. When purchasing hair cosmetics, it was found that the after-use effect was the most important factor. Second, the difference of hair moisture increase after using hair essence with heat is verified through a preliminary experiment that using hair essence with heat have higher luster and oiliness. According to the human experiments, both the experimental group and the control group increased the gloss and moisture of the hair, and they were visually evaluated through a monitor with the 400x magnification diagnostic measurement. Third, it was confirmed that the difference in hair texture according to heat treatment after using the home care hair essence in both groups that the rough hair cuticles became smooth after the treatment. Fourth, both groups showed high satisfaction overall after using hair essence. The result showed that the hair improvement, overall satisfaction, moisturizing power of hair, hair texture, future intention to use, necessity of maintaining and improving hair health, and acquaintance recommendation were very positive. In conclusion, when comparing the satisfaction average for the experimental results by group, the overall average of the experimental group was 4.41 points and the control group was 4.31 points, so it would be better to heat-treat the hair essence after using it.

This study measured the amount of dissolved oxygen present in six types of water in Korea: Jeju Samdasoo, Hot Spring, Heyroo mineral water, Dongwon Spring water, seawater, Arisoo, and deionized water, and reviewed the possibility of using purified water to physically increase dissolved oxygen. The oxygen concentration in six types of water was 2.7 to 5.7 ppm. The amount capable of dissolving dissolved oxygen in purified water was about 28 ppm. The amount of dissolved oxygen according to the pH change (4~10 range) using purified water was 26.8~28.1 ppm, and there was no significant change. There was no significant change in the concentration change of salt (NaCl), with other dissolved oxygen amounts ranging from 26.7 to 28.2 pm. As a result of evaluating the clinical trial of moisturizing effect by developing a prescription of a skin toner containing 10 ppm dissolved oxygen, the moisturizing power was improved by 2.37% compared to before use, 7.85% for Control-G, and 25.87% for Formula-1. Through this result, it suggested the possibility that water with increased oxygen concentration could be used for cosmetic purposes. Based on these results, it is expected to be used to develop oxygen water that can be used instead of purified water in cosmetics.

In this study, L* (brightness), a* (redness), and b* (yellowness) values were measured with a color difference to confirm the possibility of a natural pigment product for semi-permanent makeup by adding a maquiberry extract to a semi-permanent cosmetic pigment solution. In addition, heavy metals were analyzed using ICP-MS. As a result of the study, the chromaticity of the maquiberry mixed extract did not show a significant difference from the undiluted color solution in the sample to which L*, a*, and b* values up to 50% were added. The values of * and a* did not show a significant difference up to 50% with the pigment stock solution, but the b* value, which is the yellowness, showed a tendency to decrease due to the influence of the maquiberry extract. As a result of ICP-MS analysis, it was confirmed that heavy metals such as Cd, Cr, As, and Pb were reduced by more than half in the sample to which 50% maquiberry extract was added. Therefore, the results of this study confirmed the possibility that semi-permanent cosmetic pigments using Maquiberry natural extracts can be applied as safer natural products than conventional pigments, and it is expected that various functional natural extracts can be applied to cosmetic pigments.

In this study, in order to investigate the skin-whitening and anti-wrinkle effects of white sword bean extract, hydrothermal extract was performed with ethanol content of 20%, 50%, and 80%. In order to confirm the skin-whitening effect, a tyrosinase inhibitory activity experiment was conducted, and to confirm the wrinkle improvement effect, a collagenase inhibitory activity experiment was performed. As a result of the tyrosinase inhibitory activity assay, it was shown that the inhibition (%) was increased in a concentration-dependent manner according to the ethanol content, and in particular, the 80% ethanol extract showed high tyrosinase inhibitory activity similar to the control, kojic acid. As a result of the collagenase inhibitory activity assay, all extracts showed a higher inhibition (%) than the control, ascorbic acid. Through the results of this study, demonstrated the skin-whitening and anti-wrinkle effects of white sword bean were confirmed, and it is expected to be utilized as a natural functional ingredient in various fields of cosmetics.
