This study, “The study about performance evaluations of mobile cover for X-ray’s diffusion and distribution in mobile radiation” is based on the rules of mobile defense apparatus for radiation producer in 2006. To use the mobile cover for X-ray for diagnosis has been compulsory in common wards except operation rooms, emergency rooms and intensive care units. we have confirmed the effect in arbitrary shielding material after Qualitiy Control was carried out for accuracy in an experiment of mobile photographing equipment. The performance evaluation was conducted with the fabrics of selenium, 0.2 mmPb, 0.1 mmPb and aluminiums. Considering the result, we choosed 0.1 mmPb and attached cover to mobile photographing equipment. We have finished making the cover after drew up the draft to attach cover to mobile photographing equipment through the modeling and the structural analysis. the process of the study is that we assembled the manufactured structures and carried out the practical experiment to take the photograph after attaching the fabric of 0.1 mmPb to mobile photographing equipment. It is need of additional thesises hereafter that we compare the result between the part to improve for safety besides convenience in photographic experiment about clinical radiation and the effect of covering the diffusion in condition attached the cover.
미술품 액자 유리 보호체의 기능 향상에 관한 연구 KCI 등재

미술품을 자연적⋅인위적인 손상으로부터 보호하기 위해 사용되는 액자의 유리 보호체는 대부분 특별한 기능을 가지지 않은 순수 유리만으로 사용되고 있다. 그러나 현재 미술관에서는 유리 보호체의 비산 방지, 자외선 차단, 작품 표면의 곰팡이 발생 억제, 유리의 빛 반사 현상 저감 등 작품 보호 및 전시 관람성 증대를 위한 여러 기능들이 필요한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 시중에 판매되고 있는 항균 필름, 저반사 필름 중 가장 투명한 필름을 부착한 유리를 활용하여 내구성, 항균, 시인성 평가를 실시하였다. 먼저 작품을 원활하게 감상하기 위해 필름의 투명도를 확인한 결과, 저반사 필름을 가장 바깥쪽에 부착한 유리가 가장 빛 투과율이 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 비산 방지 기능을 확인하기 위해 필름의 접착력을 관찰한 결과 항균 필름이 저반사 필름보다 접착력이 우수하였고, 항균 필름을 부착한 유리 파편의 비산이 비교적 적은 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 항균 필름을 부착한 유리가 그렇지 않은 유리에 비해 높은 자외선 차단율을 나타내었다. 곰팡이 발생 억제 효과를 확인하기 위해 1주 간격으로 미생물 활성도(ATP)를 측정한 결과, 항균 필름만 부착한 유리와 항균 필름을 가장 바깥쪽에 부착한 유리의 미생물 활성도가 가장 낮아진 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 Color chart에 각 유리 시편을 적용하여 색상을 비교하고, 표면거칠기 를 확인하여 시인성을 평가하였다. 이에 백색, 흑색에서 색차가 가장 적은 것으로 확인되었으며, 저반사 필름을 가장 바깥쪽에 부착한 유리 표면 요철의 높이 차이가 가장 적게 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 미술품에 사용되는 유리 보호체의 기능을 향상시키고 작품을 보다 효과적으로 보호 할 뿐 아니라 기존 전시 및 관람 환경을 함께 개선하는 연구의 기초 자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.
Most of the frame glass protectors used to protect artworks from natural and artificial damage are made of pure glass without any special function. However, currently, art museums need various functions to protect works and increase exhibition viewing, such as preventing glass protectors from scattering, blocking ultraviolet rays, suppressing mold growth on the surface of artworks, and reducing light reflection on glass. Accordingly, this study conducted durability, antibacterial, and visibility evaluations using glass with the most transparent film among commercially available anti-bacterial and low-reflection films. First, the transparency of the film was checked to ensure smooth viewing of the artwork, and it was confirmed that the glass with the low-reflection film attached to the outermost part had the highest light transmittance. In addition, as a result of observing the adhesion of the film to confirm the anti-scattering function, it was observed that the anti-bacterial film had better adhesion than the low-reflection film, and the scattering of glass fragments attached to the anti-bacterial film was relatively small. In addition, glass with an anti-bacterial film showed a higher UV protection rate than glass without an anti-bacterial film. As a result of measuring microbial activity (ATP) at one-week intervals to confirm the effect of inhibiting mold growth, it was found that the microbial activity of glass with only anti-bacterial film attached and glass with anti-bacterial film attached to the outermost layer was the lowest. Finally, each glass specimen was applied to the color chart to compare colors, check surface roughness, and evaluate visibility. Accordingly, it was confirmed that the color difference was the smallest in white and black, and the difference in height of the irregularities on the glass surface with the low-reflection film attached to the outermost part was found to be the smallest. The results of this study are expected to serve as basic data for research that will not only improve the function of glass protectors used in artworks and protect works more effectively, but also improve existing exhibition and viewing environments.
Effects of Vitamin E Derivative TMG on the Radiation Protector and Tumor Growth during Radiotherapy KCI 등재 SCOPUS

Background: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunosuppressive and antioxidant effects of a novel radioprotective agent using the vitamin E derivative 2-(alpha-D-glucopyranosyl) methyl-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-6-ol (TMG) and its effect on tumors, and to study its usefulness. Materials and Methods: In this study, C57BL/6NCrSlc mice were divided into four groups (control, TMG, radiation therapy [RT], and RT+TMG), using 10 mice in each group. In the TMG and 2 Gy+TMG groups, 500 mg/kg TMG was administered. Two groups (2 Gy and 2 Gy+ TMG) among RT and RT+TMG groups were irradiated with 2 Gy in a single fraction, while the other two groups (6 Gy and 6 Gy+TMG) were irradiated locally with 6 Gy in three fractions. Results and Discussion: TMG positively affected CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes. Tumor volumes and growth inhibition rates were compared. In order to evaluate how TMG administration affected tumor growth, Ehrlich cancer cells were injected into the thigh of mice, and the tumor volume and growth suppression rate were compared. Not only RT but also TMG alone inhibited tumor growth. If RT conducted to the mice with TMG, TMG could increase the number of leukocytes, primarily that of lymphocytes. TMG also inhibited tumor growth in addition to RT. Tumor growth was significantly inhibited in the 6 Gy+TMG group. Conclusion: In conclusion, TMG exerted an immunopotentiating effect mainly by increasing the white blood cell numbers including that of lymphocytes. In addition to RT, TMG also inhibited tumor growth. Therefore, TMG is considered to be a useful radioprotective agent in radiotherapy without tumor growth induction.

보호자와의 의사소통이 치매안심센터 작업치료사의 직무몰입과 직무만족에 미치는 영향 KCI 등재

목적 : 본 연구는 치매안심센터에 근무하고 있는 작업치료사와 치매질환자 보호자와의 의사소통 경험 및 정도가 작업 치료사의 직무몰입과 직무만족에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 2022년 12월부터 2023년 2월까지 선정기준에 부합한 치매안심센터 작업치료사 68명을 대상으로 보호자와의 의사소통, 직무몰입, 직무만족에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였고 보호자와의 의사소통이 직무몰입과 직무만족에 미치 는 영향을 알아보기 위해 통계적 분석을 실시하여 결과를 도출하였다. 결과 : 첫째, 치매안심센터 작업치료사의 일반적 특성에 따른 직무몰입의 비교에서는 근무경력에서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 치매안심센터 작업치료사의 일반적 특성에 따른 직무만족의 비교에서는 근무경력에서 유의미한 차이 가 있었고 근무경력이 많을수록 직무만족이 높았다. 셋째, 치매안심센터 치매질환자 보호자와의 의사소통은 작업치 료사의 직무몰입 및 직무만족에 모두 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다 결론 : 국가지원 치매기관인 치매안심센터에 법적 인력인 작업치료사의 조직환경은 작업치료사의 직무역할 수행에 중 요한 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 연구에서 작업치료사의 직무와 관련 된 필수요소 중 하나인 의사소통이 직무몰입과 직무만족에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였고 인지기능이 저하된 치매질환자의 경우 보호자와의 의사소통의 중요성 을 작업치료 직무에서 고려할 사항임을 알 수 있었으며 의사소통의 긍정적 향상을 도모할 수 있는 기관의 의사소통 훈련 프로그램 운영의 필요성을 알 수 있었다.
Objective : This study attempted to find out how the degree of communication between occupational therapists working at the Dementia Care Center and protectors of dementia patients affects the job commitment and job satisfaction of occupational therapists. Methods : From December 2022 to February 2023, a survey was conducted on 68 occupational therapists at the Dementia Care Center who met the selection criteria on communication with protectors, job commitment, and job satisfaction. Statistical analysis was conducted to find out the impact of communication with protectors on job commitment and job satisfaction. Resutls : First, there was a significant difference in work experience in the comparison of job commitment according to the general characteristics of occupational therapists at the Dementia Care Center. Second, there was a significant difference in work experience in the comparison of job satisfaction according to the general characteristics of Dementia Care Center occupational therapists, and the more work experience, the higher the job satisfaction. Third, communication with dementia patient protectors at the Dementia Care Center was found to affect both job commitment and job satisfaction of occupational therapists. Conclusion : The organizational environment of occupational therapists, which is a legal manpower in the Dementia Care Center, a state-sponsored dementia institution, can have an important impact on the job performance of occupational therapists. In this study, it was confirmed that communication, one of the essential factors related to the job of the occupational therapist, affects job commitment and job satisfaction. For dementia patients with reduced cognitive function, the importance of communication with their protectors was considered in the job of occupational therapy, and the necessity of operating an communication training program of an institution that can promote positive improvement in communication.
가정 내 유아예술교육 프로그램을 위한 양육자 인식 및 요구도 조사 KCI 등재

본 연구의 목적은 가정 내 유아예술교육 프로그램을 위한 기초 연구로서 유아기 자 녀를 둔 양육자들의 가정 내 예술교육프로그램 인식 및 요구도를 알아보는 데 있다. 연구대상은 서울시 N구 지역의 유아의 양육자 163명이며, 자료분석은 SPSS 26. 0 프로그램을 사용하여 빈도와 백분율 산출하고 카이검정을 실시하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 앙육자의 예술교육 참여 실태는 63.8% 이상 양육자가 예술을 교 육받은 경험이 있고 77.3%가 취미를 가진 적이 있으며 92.8%가 유아예술교육에 대 한 관심도를 보였다. 또한 90% 이상의 양육자의 영향력이 매우 클 것이며 유아예술 교육의 중요성과 필요성을 인지하고 있었다. 이들 중 70% 이상이 예술교육을 실행해 본 경험이 있다고 하였다. 둘째, 유아의 예술교육은 대체로 백화점 문화센터에서 가장 많이 이뤄지고 있었으며 상대적으로 주민자체센터나 사회복지관 이용은 저조하였다. 또한 예술분야 경험에 대해서 음악과 미술에 비해 무용과 연극은 참여 경험율이 낮았 으며 예술경험은 없다는 응답이 제일 많았으나 적어도 한 달에 1번 이상은 주기적으 로 참여를 시도하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 양육자의 요구도 조사에서 가장 적합 한 교육시간대는 오전이나 저녁 6시 이후로 나타났고, 횟수는 4~8회, 회당 교육시간 은 1~1시간 30분이 적합하며 방법은 대면과 비대면의 하이브리드 방식으로 진행하 길 요구하였다. 추후 프로그램 반영의 기초 자료로 제공하기 위한 요구도 조사에서는 양육자가 사전에 알고 있는 지식을 활용하는 것과 생활 속 문화예술교육, 도구 활동 등 다양성을 요구하였다. 유아가 경험했으면 하는 예술 분야에 대해서는 응답자의 41%가 신체활동이 겸비된 미술, 통합예술활동을 선택하였다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception and demand of art education programs at home by protector with early childhood children as a basic study for early childhood art education programs at home. The subjects of the study were 163 protectors of infants in N-gu, Seoul, and the data analysis was conducted by calculating the frequency and percentage using the spss 26.0 program. The analysis results are as follows. First, more than 63.8% of protectors participated in art education, 77.3% of protectors had experience in art education, and 92.8% showed interest in early childhood art education. In addition, more than 90% of protectors would have a great influence and were aware of the importance and necessity of early childhood art education. More than 70% of them said they had experience in conducting art education. Second, children's art education status was the most experienced at department store cultural centers, and the use of community centers or social welfare centers was relatively low. In addition, as for the experience in the art field, dance and theater had a lower participation experience rate and no art experience than music and art, but it can be seen that they are trying to participate at least once a month. Third, in the survey on the needs of protectors, the most suitable training time to guide protectors who will directly educate infants was morning time or after 6 p.m., the number of training sessions was 4-8 times, 1 hour to 30 minutes per session, and the method was required to proceed hybrid. In the future, the demand survey to provide basic data for program reflection required diversity such as using knowledge known in advance by protectors, culture and arts education in daily life, and tool activities. The art that infants want to experience was 41% of art and integrated art activities with physical activity.
하단 안전판이 장착된 유성치차 감속 장치를 이용한 예초기

예초기는 빠른 회전력으로 절삭하기 때문에 풀숲에 있는 자갈 등에 칼날이 부딪힐경우 부상의 위험이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 기존 메카니즘을 분석하고 새로운 아이디어를 탐색하였다. 본 논문에서는 예초 작업 시 구조가 단순하면서도 안전한 예초기 메카니즘을 제시하고, 모델링과 기어 설계 및 제작을 하였다. 예초기는 칼날을 회전시키는 유성 기어 세트, 유성 기어 세트를 구동 하는 구동부 및 유성 기어 세트에 연결되어 고정되며, 칼날을 보호하는 안전판을 포함한다. 본연구에서는 유성 기어를 이용하여 칼날을 회전시키는 것과 동시에 유성 기어의 고정된 캐리어에 하단 안전판을 연결하여 안전판이 회전하지 않도록 하는 예초기에 관한 것이다. 또한 이런 아이디어가 특허로서 등록이 될 수 있는지 신규성을 특허 검색을 통하여 사전 특허성 조사를 병행하였다.
There are many risks in using grass cutter because of the pebble in grass and high speed rpm when the cutter hits the hard objects in grass. In this study, the existing patents are surveyed and classified for the new mechanism about the bottom safety cover. The new mechanism was modelled and the planetary gear are designed. The power source (engine or motor) will rotate the sun gear and the carrier of planetary gear is fixed into handle frame. The ring gear will drive the final cutter. The carrier fixed the bottom safety cover through the planetary gear hole at the handle bar. In this paper, we develop a new mechanism and analyze the idea for safe grass cutter and investigate the possibility of having patent through patent search.
3차원 인체스캔 데이터를 활용한 보호대 디자인 설계 KCI 등재

본 연구는 3차원 인체스캔 데이터를 활용하여 보 호복에 부착되는 보호대를 설계하여 신체적합성과 동작적합성이 높은 보호복을 개발하는데 목적이 있 다. 본 연구에서 개발에 활용한 보호대는 여자경찰 들이 시위 진압 시 신체보호를 위해 착용하는 보호 복에 부착되는 보호대를 대상으로 하였다. 보호대의 소재는 Nylon 66 플라스틱이 사용되고 있다. 보호대 설계를 위해 피험자의 3차원 인체스캔 데이타를 활 용하였으며 3차원 모델링 프로그램인 Rhinoceros 5.0 을 사용하여 가상공간에서 모델링하였다. 보호대 모 델링은 피험자의 인체 커브를 그대로 반영한 보호대 A와 인체 커브를 일부 완만하게 조절한 보호대 B로 설계하고 3D 프린팅을 이용하여 출력하였다. 출력한 보호대는 보호복 베이스에 부착하여 실험복 A와 B 를 제작하였고, 각각의 실험복에 대한 신체적합성 평가와 동작적합성 평가를 실시하였다. 실험복에 대한 착의 실험 결과, 인체 커브를 완 만하게 조절한 보호대 B(가슴보호대, 등보호대 1,2,3) 와 보호면적이 넓은 보호대 A(배보호대)에 대한 신 체적합성과 동작적합성이 높게 나타났다. 따라서 이 보호대들의 조합으로 최종 실험복을 제작하였고, 최 종 실험복과 기존 보호복에 대한 신체적합성 평가 와 동작적합성 평가를 실시하였다. 그 결과 최종 실 험복에 대한 신체적합성과 동작적합성이 높게 나타 나서 실험용 보호대에 대한 우수성이 입증되었다.
The purpose of this study is to develop protective clothing of high body fitness and movement adaptability through designing protector attached to protective clothing by utilizing 3D body scanning data. The target of this study is the protector attached to protective clothing for riot policewomen. The material of protector is Nylon 66 plastic. For designing protector, 3D human body scanning data was used and modeling was conducted in virtual space by using Rhinoceros 5.0, a 3D modeling program. For modeling of protector, protector A which reflected human body curve as it is and protector B which adjusted part of human body curve was used in design and it was printed out by use of 3D printing. The protective belt of output was attached to protective clothing base for designing protective clothing A and B while evaluation of body fitness and movement adaptability was conducted for each experiment clothing. The result of this study for wearing experiment clothing shows that body fitness and movement adaptability for experiment clothing B (chest guard, back guard 1, 2, 3) which reflects body curve better and A (abdominal guard) which covers more body areas were high. Accordingly the combination of A and B were selected and final evaluation for body fitness and movement adaptability for experiment clothing and existing clothing was conducted. And body fitness and movement adaptability for final experiment clothing was high, which verified excellence of protector.

The latest development of the submarine oil field and the deep-sea explorer, FPSO is commonly proposed and used for offshore oil production. And because the fundamental requirement of FPSOs to remain moored at their position, they are unable to avoid severe weather and environment. FPSO normally operates head to the weather, and sensitive equipment located the exposed area will be influenced by green water damages, the damages may occur to both onboard equipment and topside structures with resulting risk to personnel. In this paper, the main focus considers the physical structures of green water protector in order to preserve topside structures, equipment and personnel from green water.
한국 노인의 3D 인체특성 분석을 통한 Hip protector 치수체계 수립 및 입체패턴 설계

This study aimed to develop an optimal sizing system and a draping pattern for hip protector based on an analysis of anthropometric characteristics of Korean older women. A hip protector is a specialized form of pants or underwear containing pads along the outside of each hip. The 3D body scan data of Korean older women were analyzed to identify their anthropometric characteristics and a four-size system with 93% of population accommodation was developed by clustering analysis based on key dimensions derived from factor analysis. The sizing system consists of small/short, large/short, small/tall, and large/tall. A 3D physical model and hip pads were fabricated; then, a hip protector was draped on the 3D model and hip pads. The sizing system of hip protector was analyzed in terms of size and shape and a draping pattern was compared on back center, back side, front side, front center and pad. Lastly, the pattern deformation and clothing pressure were analyzed using the virtual clothing system CLO. Virtual system have disadvantage of not to suggest the objective value. In the future research the wearing comfort and impact absorption of the hip protector needs to be tested and then a hip protector design will be finalized by considering the hip protector's size, material, comfort testing results, aesthetic appeal, protection effectiveness, and practical utility of everyday use.
Hip Protector Design Process for the Korean Elderly

This research aims to propose an ergonomic design process for hip protector based on previous studies, existing products, multidisciplinary experts opinion, and wearing test. The elderly are more likely to suffer a hip fracture when they fall due to their physical changes in skeletal form, muscle quantity, bone density, and joint movement. A hip protector is an effective product to prevent hip fractures in the elderly but it also has a problem in that it is uncomfortable. Therefore there is a high chance that it won't be able to prevent hip fractures properly. Since the comfort of a hip protector is one of the most critical elements in preventing a hip fracture, we need to keep improving the hip protector for mobility and usability. Based on the previous studies and limitations of current hip protector products, we need to come up with an optimal design for the Korean elderly. First, knowledge has to be built relating to the ergonomic design of the hip protector considering body shape and size analysis using 3D-scan data, and biomechanical analysis on hip fracture. Second, we need to develop a design process including hip protector pattern design, and wearing evaluation with virtual system. Third, we suggest to reevaluate and verify the design procedure from impact evaluation using testing simulator, virtual evaluation of impact, to wearing comfort and usability evaluation. This design process presented in this study would be expected to contribute to the development of ergonomic hip protector which is suitable for the Korean elderly.

Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive degeneration ofdopaminergic neurons and a biochemical reduction of striatal dopamine levels. Despite the lack of fully understanding of theetiology of Parkinson’s disease, accumulating evidences suggest that Parkinson’s disease may be caused by the insufficient supportof neurotrophic factors, and by microglial activation, resident immune cells in the brain. Naringin, a major flavonone glycoside ingrapefruits and citrus fruits, is considered as a protective agent against neurodegenerative diseases because it can induce not onlyanti-oxidant effects but also neuroprotective effects by the activation of anti-apoptotic pathways and the induction of neurotrophicfactors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor and vascular endothelial growth factor. We have recently reported that naringinhas neuroprotective effects in a neurotoxin model of Parkinson’s disease. Our observations show that intraperitoneal injection ofnaringin induces increases in glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor expression and mammalian target of rapamycin complex1 activity in dopaminergic neurons of rat brains with anti-inflammatory effects. Moreover, the production of glial cell line-derivedneurotrophic factor by naringin treatment contributes to the protection of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic projection in a neurotoxinmodel of Parkinson’s disease. Although the effects of naringin on the nigrostriatal dopaminergic system in human brains are largelyunknown, these results suggest that naringin may be a beneficial natural product for the prevention of dopaminergic degenerationin the adult brain.

‘‘State-protection Buddhism’’ (Ch. huguo Fojiao, K. hoguk Pulgyo 護國佛敎), the idea that Buddhism protects the state from various natural as well as societal difficulties, was widely accepted in premodern East Asia. Not a few East Asian rulers who adopted Buddhism as a state ideology expected such Buddhist deities as the four heavenly kings (Skt. lokapāla, Ch. si tianwang, K. sa ch’ŏnwang 四天王) to protect the state as a result of their faith in ‘‘state-protection’’ scriptures, such as the Golden Light Sutra (Ch. Jinguangming jing, K. Kŭmgwangmyŏng kyŏng 金光明經). Although state-protection Buddhism has been approached focusing on its political aspect, from the Buddhist doctrinal viewpoint, state protection refers to none other than ‘‘Dharma protection’’ (Ch. hufa, K. hobŏp 護法), and the kings who take the responsibility of protecting the state also are protectors of the Dharma. East Asian Buddhist scholiasts, however, did not always reach consensus on the nature of kingship as Dharma protector. This article explores distinct interpretations of kingship in the Golden Light Sutra between two eminent Buddhist exegetes, Wŏnhyo 元曉(617–686) and Huizhao 慧昭(774–850). Although Wŏnhyo’s commentary on the Golden Light Sutra, the Kŭmgwangmyŏng kyŏng so 金光明經疏, is not extant, a significant part of it is cited in Japanese monks’ works, notably in Gangyō’s 願曉(835–871) Konkōmyō saishō ō kyō gensū 金光明最勝王經玄樞, and we can therefore compare it to Huizhao’s commentary, the Jinguangming zuishengwang jing shu 金光明最勝王經疏. On the basis of a comparative analysis of their views on the sutra, this article discusses how the two exegetes interpret kingship in the Golden Light Sutra and reconcile the two dilemmatic concepts of commonality and particularity.

A soluble protein from Saccharomyces cerevisiae specifically provides protection against a thiolcontaining oxidation system but not against an oxidation system without thiol. This 25-kDa protein was thus named thiol-dependent protector protein (TPP). The role of TPP in the cellular defense against oxidative stress was investigated in Escherichia coli containing an expression vector with a yeast genomic DNA fragment that encodes TPP (strain YP) and a mutant in which the catalytically essential amino acid in the active site of TPP (Cys-47) has been replaced with alanine by site-directed mutagenesis (strain YPC47A). There was a distinct difference between these two strains in regard to viability, modulation of activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase, and the oxidative damage of DNA upon exposure to menadione. These results suggest that TPP may play a direct role in the cellular defense against oxidative stress by functioning as an antioxidant protein.
Amphiaraos, the Healer and Protector of Attika

Amphiaraos was an important ant popular healing hero/god in Athens from the end of the fifth century BC, however, not much has been studied. This paper investigates the figure in various ways by examining different sources. In the sixth century BC and in to the fifth, Amphiaraos was an Argive warrior hero that came into war against Thebes. He then seems to have acquired a sanctuary in the Theban territory being a mantic hero. In the end of the fifth century BC, however, he is said to have swallowed up by the earth and sprang up again in a spring at Oropos. Between 420-414 BC, his sanctuary was set up by the Athenians at Oropos. But this time, he was venerated as a healing hero. In 420 BC, Asklepios was introduced to Athens in order to cure plague that went around from 430s BC. It seems that the Athenians benchmarked Asklepios to promote one more healing god at their north eastern border. When Oropos was taken by their enemies, a substitute Amphiareion was established in Rhamnous, a deme close to Oropos. The Athenians also promoted a patriotic hero through the words of Euripides. Illustrated as having gone through the same process of sacrifice ? death ? commemoration, Amphiaraos was put in parallel with the Athenian mythical king Erechtheus. Through this parallel, Amphiaraos became a political figure that protected Athens from outside threats.
