Design of a Cost Effective Soil Monitoring System to Support Agricultural Activities for Smallholder

The moisture, temperature and electrical conductivity of soil are the important properties for agriculture. It is necessary to monitor such data in order to support the agricultural activities, especially improve the yield and reduce the irrigation water. However, the currently commercialized monitoring systems are too expensive for the smallholder who has less than two hectares of farmland. The objective of this study is to develop a cost effective system for monitoring the soil data, which consists of a monitoring device and a web-based application. The monitoring device measures the soil information every one hour and then transmits such data to the cloud for storing and visualizing. The system has been testing in the experiment field to evaluate the system’s stability.



Improving Cloud System Performances by Using Non-volatile Memory

In this paper, we analyze the performance improvement of cloud systems by adopting nonvolatile memory. Specifically, we present the optimized adoption of non-volatile memory for the storage of cloud systems. Our analysis shows that a bulk of storage accesses does not happen on a single storage partition, but it is varied significantly for different cloud applications. In particular, journal accesses dominate in database applications, whereas swap accesses dominate in memoryintensive applications. In some applications such as video streaming, file accesses dominate. Based on these observations, we recommend the usage of non-volatile memory for maximizing the performance gain in cloud systems.

Despite many previous studies, there are still problems that cannot be solved in the strategy field. First of all, many researchers still fail to make a clear distinction between strategy and innovation. Some researchers consider strategy as part of innovation and vice versa. Therefore, this study proposes a framework for Innotegy to make a clear distinction between innovation and strategy. To do this, we expect that these efforts will improve not only the conceptual differences between strategy and innovation, but also the understanding of the interrelationships between these two concepts.

The advancement of the Internet and mobile technology is driving the enablement of the IoT and cloud computing paradigm. However, IoT platforms has security issues because of its centralized system, and the Cloud computing faces technological limitations due to data explosion caused by IoT and the emergence of latency-sensitive application. Blockchain platforms are being developed based on cryptocurrencies because it is in prospect but usage is limited in field of financial. Also the fog computing has not yet been widely used because it is not clear who operates and manages a fog computing infrastructure. In this paper, a user friendly fog computing architecture is proposed to enhance the performance and feasibility of fog computing and mapping identification with IP address to blockchain network..In the proposed architecture, the blockchain records mapping data sevurely and users register their fog device in the fog portal, and the fog portal acts as an intermediary between the resources of each local network and the IoT service.



An Augmented Reality based Approach for Worker Support System on Recycling of End of Life Product

Product recycling, which aims to maximize lifecycle value creation and to conserve environment, becomes important. However, much of product recycling has been done by third party remanufacturers, which is complicated by the need to deal with the various models manufactured by various manufacturers. Furthermore, the working method can be varied depending on the recycling option that comes from lifecycle history, even in the same model. This characteristics impose a heavy burden on the worker, which results in problems of inefficiency caused by human errors. To deal with this problem, an augmented reality based approach for worker support on the complex remanufacturing shop floor, which considers efficiency of information delivery, is proposed in order to minimize human errors.

This paper points out the stages of e-business growth in two countries: Korea and India. Qualitative approach of interview method was adopted and interviews were carried with 15 ebusiness experts for each country. The results are statistically analyzed. Inside of the stages of ebusiness growth, the influencing factors like social, economic, political and technical aspects are deeply investigated. All these factors have sub-factors that affects the growth of the e-business. With varied factors and sub- factors deep study, it is highlighted that Korean e-businesses are in transformation phase and Indian e-businesses are in growth stage. After the result, the further implications are narrated.



Review: Advancement of Integrated Passive Device Technology

In this paper, an advancement of integrated passive device (IPD) technology will be reviewed and its wide implementation will be investigated. This technology can be implemented to fabricate passive components like resister, inductor and capacitor to design and fabricate filters, combiners, dividers, baluns, and antenna etc. This is a kind of radio frequency (RF) solution in wireless technology and its main features are excellent device performance, higher integration, and higher reliability, and higher repeatability, device packaging and low cost. IPD can be fabricated using especially thin film and photolithography processing. The substrates can be used for this are silicon, GaAs, InGaP, alumina etc. and this technical is more beneficial to internet of things (IoT) which is an emerging technology.
