A novel device for foot reflexology that utilizes color light stimulation has been developed and the efficacy of the device has been tested as a basis study. The new foot color reflexology device is designed in a way so that color light can separately project red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet color lights to various neural reflex points on foot for a certain amount of time. The efficacy of the device was studied with seven young healthy subjects by measuring various physiological signals and foot related parameters before and after the treatment of the foot color reflexology. The measured physiological signals were bodily temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and heart rate variability(HRV). The measured foot related parameters were foot surface temperature, foot instep circumference, volume and peripheral plethysmograph(PPG). The results showed increase in bodily temperature, foot surface temperature and decrease in pulse rate, HRV, foot instep circumference, and foot volume. Therefore, the foot color reflexology seems to be effective in reducing stress and relaxing mind and body.

This experiment focused on the effect of Tea tree oil that was bland with Jojoba oil to 1% and 2 % on the improvement of acne skin. It has been reported in many studies that Tea tree oil is anti-bacterial and specifically effective on the treatment of acne. In this study, Tea tree oil was bland with Jojoba oil to 1% and 2 % so that it could be applied to the face. The subjects were seleced 3 students who were 20 years old. The 1% and 2% solutions were applied on the left and right side face of the subjects. Subject A with pustular acne confirmed seeing improvement after 10 treatments with both the 1% and 2% solutions. The 10 treatments were performed from Oct. 13, 2008 to Dec. 15, 2008. The effect was more significant with the 2% solution. The length of time for improvement to be made was observed: with the 1% solution, the improvement gradually showed after the 6th treatment and the effect was evident after the 10th treatment while the improvement began to show after 4th treatment with the 2% solution. Thus it is more ideal to treat acne pustular with the 2% solution than the 1% solution. Subject B with papular acne confirmed seeing improvement began to show after the 5th treatment, but at least 10 treatments were apparently needed to improve the acne problem. The same experiment was conducted on subject C with whitehead and blackhead confirmed seeing improvement after 10 treatments who showed that the application of the 1% and 2% solution led to improvement after the 10th treatment. This is some what different from the results involving pustular acne: there was no significant difference between the 1% and 2% solution used on papular acne and both concentrations began to show improvement after the 5th treatment. It was similar in that there was no significant effect before the 5th treatment. Lastly, subject C, whose acne was the least problematic among all subjects, also saw improvement with both the 1% and 2% solutions, whose effect was evident after the 5th treatment. Subject A, B and C, whose had different types of acne, were observed under the same conditions, and it was found out that the number of treatments led to more visible and significant improvements, rather than the concentration of the solution, in the acne other than pustular acne. With pustular acne, the 2% solution showed more a significant effect than the 1% solution, and the improvement was faster with the 2% solution in terms of the concentration level as well. Considering the results, the effect of tea tree oil on the improvement of acne, which was reported in many studies, was confirmed once again in the clinical trials, and it can be seen that the 2% solution was more effective. Minimal improvement began to show after the 5th treatment and that at least 10 treatments were needed to have a significant effect.

The job stress of esthetician teachers are related to the instructor’s health, quality of education and job satisfaction. In this point of view, we can say that it is important to analyze the job stress of esthetician teachers to further estimate and plan for the activation, specialization and circulation of the skin beauty economy. The result of the analysis show that esthetician teachers suffer mainly from the muscle and skeletal pain of the work. Following were stress from physical environment, job structure, individual relationship. Group relationship ranked the lowest. From these results we can suppose that the muscle and skeletal pain were mainly caused from overwork and repeatable actions. These pain were usually focused on neck and shoulder. Since stress from group relationship were very low we could also assume that stress from coworkers and superior were bearable. As spoken above, physical stress is the main reason of the stress, which can become the main reason of job exchange, loss of health, and drop of education quality due to lack of volition. It is necessary to initiate a health program to support the instructors. The job stress of esthetician teacher differed according to personal features(age, academic achievement, career). Stress from physical labor were shown throughout every age level. However surprisingly young teacher aged 20~29 seemed to suffer more than more experienced teacher. There seemed no significant difference on the stress caused by academic achievement. Relating stress with career, we could find out that people with low career suffered more from muscle or skeletal pain caused by the work. We think that these stresses were lessened with more experienced instructors since they started to adapt to the job and invent new know-hows. The job stress of esthetician teacher were effected by working conditions(average income, working hours, overtime work). The teachers who had an income of 1 million~2 million won seemed to be more dissatisfied than other teacher. We could find out that the stress from low income were making a synergy effect to increase the overall complaint. The working hours which were mainly 9~10 hours(day) seemed significantly related with teacher’s stress. We could find out that the low income amplifies the complains of oneself in his long duty hours. These could lead to the teacher’s physical and mental stress. Overwork hours also had a significant relationship with job stress. It was shown that 1~2 day of overwork days raised the job stress of the teachers. Likewise it had some influence on the relationship with his/her co-worker. From this study there are several comments that could be made. First, we could find out that instructors aged from 20~29, who have 5~7 year of career, have a lot of stress due to muscle or skeletal pain. It is urgent to educate them about exercises and programs which could loosen and relax their muscles. Also supports are needed to create an environment which they could promote their health. Second, a lot of instructors suffered from the lack of private space and low profit. More support and active care should be aided by the manager to improve these aspects.

The purpose of this study is to examine a desire for beauty in female undergraduates who are energetic in pursuit of external beauty because of having advance to society ahead, simultaneously with coming to have a free living form from regular and systematic life during the middle-high school days, as the transitional age bracket of implementing from adolescence to adulthood, and to examine specifically a method for expressing beautiful appearance through its specific beauty-care behaviors. This study analyzed substantial behaviors in skin care, weight control, and cosmetic surgery by aesthetic attitude through the value system on beauty and the beauty behavior in female undergraduates on the basis of the results in questionnaire, which surveyed targeting 401 female undergraduates who are in 3 universities where are located in Gyeonggi-do Province. Thus, the aim is to educate right beauty, to prevent self-humbling caused by wrong aesthetic consciousness, and further to be used as basic data in a research on developing beauty goods, developing cosmetics, or developing beauty education program targeting female undergraduates. According to this study, female undergraduates’ aesthetic consciousness was indicated that most of female undergraduates think‘outward appearance to be important about a person’s beauty,’and that female undergraduates perform positive beauty-care behavior in the aspect of aesthetic attitude in order to satisfy this desire. The criterion for judging beautiful appearance was indicated that the higher aesthetic consciousness leads to the higher importance in the whole harmony, face, body shape, and skin. On the other hand, it was indicated that the lower aesthetic consciousness leads to the more thinking of the inside as valuable. Also, most of female undergraduates thought that beautiful appearance has influence upon forming human relations. Thus, the outward appearance was indicated to become an important judgment criterion for friendly evaluation in social life. Given examining the substantial beauty-care behaviors in subjects of this study, those are as follows. First, as for skin-care behavior in research subjects, there are many opinions that the female undergraduate with the higher aesthetic consciousness leads to the higher interest in skin, and on the other hand, to which‘healthy condition in skin is not good,’ thereby having been indicated to be dissatisfied with the present skin condition. In order to improve this skin condition, the female undergraduates showed aspect of using cleansing agent exclusively for washing face, washing face with tepid water, or using sun-block agent, but indicated low frequency in removing horny substance in skin, massaging, using functional cosmetics, using skin-care center, which are the actual improvement methods. Thus, most of female undergraduates were indicated the skin-care behavior whose use is simple and basic rather than a highly-priced care method. Second, as for weight-control behavior in research subjects, most of female undergraduates showed normal weight. On the other hand, the higher aesthetic consciousness led to the greater dissatisfaction with body shape. As for a method of substantial weight control, 72% of them were indicated to take walking exercise or to control meal quantity. However, some of them took anorexigenic agents or diet food side by side given suffering difficulty in weight control. Most of subjects, whose weight is normal, showed aspect of perceiving self as‘fat’ in this way, thereby having been indicated to have the distorted recognition on body shape, which results in continuing to lose weight, without being satisfied with own body shape. Third, the cosmetic-surgery behavior in research subjects showed that the higher aesthetic consciousness leads to the more positive intention of surgery. Reasons for desiring cosmetic surgery included‘self-satisfaction’ with 44.7% and‘dissatisfaction with the present appearance’ with 41.9%. Thus, cosmetic surgery was dicated to be desired as a means of improving the present appearance. Substantially, 28% of subjects were indicated to have the eye cosmetic surgery and to prefer the skin cosmetic surgery and the eye cosmetic surgery the most as regions with future intention of surgery. It was indicated that the higher interest in beauty leads to being the more friendly in cosmetic surgery.
