This study explored the questions raised by Korean dance students, researchers, and educators regarding mental health and coaching for performing artists and analyzed the perspectives of an international expert. The study was based on the session “Mental Health and Coaching for Performing Artists,” presented at an international seminar on dance wellness. Through research team meetings, student feedback, and expert review, 16 questions were developed and categorized into five domains. Analysis of the presentation and discussion revealed that mental health support for performing artists requires professional training systems, accessible support services, and institutional approaches grounded in the performing arts context. The findings highlight the need for structured education, qualified professionals, and sustainable support systems to promote the mental health and artistic careers of performing artists.

This study explored the present and future of the Pilates profession based on the views of Pilates specialist Laura Hanlon, presented at an international online seminar hosted by Korea National University of Arts. Hanlon’s responses and presentation during the seminar were analyzed across six categories: market growth, education and certification systems, social and gender perceptions, connections with other fields, movement approaches and teaching methods, and future professional competencies. The findings show that Pilates has grown rapidly alongside the popularization of Reformer Pilates, while challenges in securing professionalism have emerged. Although ballet and Pilates differ in their approaches to movement, they were found to be complementary, and future professionals are expected to serve as educators, managers, and content creators beyond instruction. This study is significant in confirming the educational value and applicability of Pilates within the field of dance.

The findings emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary healthcare systems, active rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, biopsychosocial care, and field-specific expertise. This study provides implications for developing dancer health management systems and performing arts medicine education in Korea.

The purpose of this study was to explore the directions and implications of dance education for Dance Wellness through Andrea Olsen’s somatic perspective. The study was based on the first session of the International Online Academic Seminar, Practice-Based Study on Dance Wellness. Questions collected during the seminar preparation process and Andrea Olsen’s responses were analyzed. The findings indicate that Andrea Olsen describes somatics as an approach that respects the deep intelligence of the human body and emphasizes embodied intelligence, Authentic Movement, and the interconnectedness of human beings and their environment. These perspectives suggest that dance education can contribute to holistic health and well-being, artistic excellence, creative longevity, and an enhanced quality of life through a deeper understanding of embodied experience.
