영어 전치사 ‘of’에 대한 재고찰 KCI 등재

영어 전치사 ‘of’는 [X of Y]의 형식을 가지고 한 개체가 다른 개체의 내재적이며 제한된 하위 부분에 해당하는 종속관계로 두 개체 사이에는 특별한 관계에 놓여있는 것으로 보고 있다. 또한 X는 탄도체(trajector)로서 부분을 나타내고 Y는 지표(landmark)로서 전체를 나타내는 동시에 탄도체에 해당하는 요소의 자리는 지표의 요소에 비해 현저성이 부여된다고 본다. 그러므로 전체인 지표를 강조코자 할 때는 [Y of X]로의 전도현상이 발생하여, X와 Y의 자리가 전환될 수 있다. X에 해당하는 요소는 다양한 품사로 나타날 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 경우에 따라서는 전혀 나타나지 않는 경우도 있다. 본 연구는 영어 전치사 ‘of’를 재고찰 하면서, 그 동안의 선행연구에서 보여준 ‘of’-구의 구조를 X의 출현 여부에 관계없이 2항 술어로 간주하고, 전치사 ‘of’가 가지고 있는 다양한 기능이 외부논항의 적절한 정의에 따라 일관성 있게 설명될 수 있음을 보이고자 한다. 이를 위하여 의미역(theta-roles)에 대한 포화 이론 (Saturation Theory)을 근거로. 논항이 술어로부터 의미역을 부여받는 것이 아니라, 술어가 취하는 논항 자리에 의미역이 제공됨으로서 해당하는 항(place)의 자리에 논항이 위치하여 의미역 조건이 해소되는 것으로 본다. 본 연구는 [탄도체(X:명사) ‘of’ 지표(Y:명사)]를 ‘of’의 기본 형식을 보며, [동사 of 명사] 또는 [형용사 of 명사]의 형식에서처럼 탄도체가 표시되지 않는 경우는 암시적 논항(implicit argument)으로 간주되거나 탄도체 자리에 기저 생성된 주어가 상승하여 흔적이 남겨진 경우라는 대안을 제시한다. 또한 소절(small clause)이 공(empty) INFL을 머리어로 하는 IP임을 근거로 소절 형식을 취하는 유형과 그렇지 않는 유형의 의미적 차이점을 비교하여 선행연구에서 제시되어온 전치사 ‘of’의 [X of Y]의 구조가 [X/(IA) of Y]의 구조임을 주장하고, 이러한 구조로 전치사 ‘of’의 다양한 활용이 일관성 있게 설명될 수 있다는 사실을 밝힌다.
It has been assumed that the preposition ‘of’ takes the form ‘X of Y,’ where one entity falls under a restricted inherent sub-part of the other entity. Typically, ‘X’ plays as the trajector, being the part of ‘X of Y,’ while Y, as the landmark, being the whole of it. The position of the trajector is considered to be always more salient than that of the landmark. Therefore, the shift from ‘X of Y’ to ‘Y of X’ can occur to emphasize the landmark. Based on the facts above, this paper proposed that the preposition of in English uniformally be treated as a two place predicate. Given its nature of transitivity, the preposition ‘of’ takes two arguments of ‘X’ and ‘Y.’ This proposal is based on Higginbotham’s (1985) revised version of Theta Theory and Burzio’s (1986) the analysis of implicit argument in the causative construction. Under the premise that the preposition ‘of’ adopts a predicate construction like a verb, this paper further suggested that the prepositional phrase where the trajector (noun) does not appear like ‘X(verb) of Y(noun)’ or ‘X(adjective) of Y(noun) carries an implicit argument in the place of ’X’ in the structure of the preposition ‘of.’ This paper further contended that the subject generated from the place where the trajector is supposed to appear is raised for the Case reason, leaving the trace behind. The passive sentences were also discussed to make a distinction of the cases where the ‘X of Y’ is involved in the small clause and the cases where the ‘X of Y’ is not. Given that the small clause has an IP, which carries the empty INFL, the form of ‘product (IA) of material is made’ was defined as being constructed within the small clause, whereas the form of ‘product is made (IA) of material’ is not. Therefore, this paper has shown that the analysis of two place predicate for the preposition ‘of’ in English is well maintained, such that not only the cases where the preposition ‘of’ takes the external as well as internal arguments, but the cases where the external argument does not appear can be accounted for in a unified and systematically way.

The aim of this paper is to investigate problems related to translation of Korean film titles into Russian. Titles play an important role in representing a text or a film, providing readers/audience general information as well as attracting attention. The translated titles can also have influence on the acceptance of films in the target society. This study analyzes 220 Korean film titles and their translations in Russian, focusing on various types of methods used in translation. Analysis shows four methods are used, which are borrowing, literal translation, partial shift, and full shift. Some former studies on this issue will be reviewed, and four methods of translation will be analyzed to evaluate implications of translated titles on understanding of Korean films in Russia. Finally the influence of English titles on Russian translation will also be revealed.

Building upon previous research on punctuation, this paper aims to expand the current literature by exploring the various functions of the semicolon and by presenting useful translation strategies that can be employed in English-Korean translation. Explanation of semicolon’s functions is based on a number of widely-used style guides and grammar books, and the examples used herein are mostly taken from children’s literature; the punctuation points used in such genre are relatively clear and in conformity with the standard usage. Based on a clear understanding of the functions and usage, this paper selects and classifies effective translation strategies and discusses how such strategies can be deployed and what attention should be paid in the process of translation. Although there are a number of punctuation marks in the English language system, this paper limits its scope to semicolon, which often invites confusion and disagreement of interpretation in the process of translation, as there is no equivalent mark in the Korean language system. The author hopes the research will contribute to triggering further discussion on the translation of punctuation and to offering guidelines for those in the translation profession.

This study aims to identify shifts in transitivity system when translating a children's book from English to Korean. Roald Dahl's “James and the Giant Peach” and its Korean translation were used for the analysis. It has been found out that there are more than four categories in the transitivity shift : 1)shifting from passive voice in ST to active voice in TT 2) shifting from active voice in ST and passive voice in TT 3) simultaneous ommission of an agent and a verb in a complex sentence 4) simple shifts in transitivity system. Linguistic differences in English and Korean and a need to develop particular strategies for translating children's literature are found to be attributable to the process shifts.

유비쿼터스 환경에서 개인 프라이버시 보호를 위해 RFID 시스템 보안에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. RFID 시스템 보안 중 XOR 기반의 기법은 다른 기법보다 단순하고 최저가로 구현될 수 있다. 그러나 사용자 프라이버시 보호를 동일한 비밀정보가 사용자 인증에 사용되기 때문에 비밀정보가 노출될 확률이 커진다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 XOR 기반 인증프로토콜을 개선한 경량화 된 연산자와 순환 시프트 연산을 사용한 인증프로토콜을 제안한다
ubiquitous environment the authentication protocol design for RFID security is studied to protect user privacy in RFID system. The XOR-based approach of RFID security is implemented inex-pensively and simply. However because of using same informations, ones of tag is disclosed easily. In this paper, we enhance the previous XOR-based authentication protocol using a circular shift operation.

Information and communication technology (ICT) is increasingly recognized as an important driver of economic growth, innovation, employment and productivity and is widely accepted as a main feature of development. During the last couple of decades, ICT sector became the most innovative service sector that affected the living standards of human beings all over the world. In the beginning of the $21^{st}$ century, some of the Asian countries made reforms in the ICT sector and spent an enormous amount for the progress of this sector. On the other hand, developed countries in the European Union (EU) faced different crises which badly affected the dissemination of this sector. Consequently, EU countries lost their hegemony in the field of information technology and resultantly, some of the emerging Asian countries like China, India, and South Korea got supremacy over the EU in this field. Currently, these countries have a strong IT infrastructure, R&D sector, IT research centers working for the development of ICT. Moreover, this paper investigates reasons for the shifting of the balance of digital power from Europe to Asia.

최근 첨단산업이 발달함에 따라 일상생활의 다양한 부분에서 드론의 이용이 급격하게 발전되어 지고 있 다. 드론은 기술성과 기능성의 증가 및 여러 생활방식에 맞춰 활용이 가능한 분야에 대한 접목이 쉬운 장점을 가지 고 있다. 또한 드론 서비스에 대한 다양화를 통하여 카메라와 CCTV같은 영상처리를 할 수 있는 매체를 융합해 사람 대신 경비를 할 수 있는 자동화 시스템이 도입되어 질 예정이다. 이러한 무인경비 기술을 설계하여 기존 드론 응용기술력을 강화하는 새로운 융합적 경비드론 서비스 기법을 제안하고자 한다. 제안하는 기법에는 OpenCV 기술 및 객체 추적 알고리즘인 CAM-Shift 알고리즘을 통해 초기 윈도우와 탐색 윈도우에서 객체를 중심으로 물체를 탐색 및 영역을 설정하여 안전의 유무를 판단하고 보안성에 대하여 드론에 접목시킬 수 있는 추가적인 인증수단인 생체인증기술을 설계한다. 이를 통해 기동성 및 실시간 영상 처리에 대한 기술의 분석이 지속적으로 증가될 수 있는 드론을 이용하여 무인 경비를 하는데 있어서 효율성이 높은 경비드론 융합서비스 모델에 대한 내용을 제안한다.
Recently, with the development of high-tech industry, the use of the drones in various aspects of daily life is rapidly advancing. With technical and functional advancements, drones have an advantage of being easy to be utilized in the areas of use according to various lifestyles. In addition, through the diversification of the drone service converged with image processing medium such as camera and CCTV, an automated security system that can replace humans is expected to be introduced. By designing these unmanned security technology, a new convergence security drone service techniques that can strengthen the previous drone application technology will be proposed. In the proposed techniques, a biometric authentication technology will be designed as additional authentication methods that can determine the safety incorporated with security by selecting the search and areas of an object focusing on the objects in the initial windows and search windows through OpenCV technology and CAM-Shift algorithm which are an object tracking algorithm. Through such, a highly efficient security drone convergence service model will be proposed for performing unmanned security by using the drones that can continuously increase the analysis of technology on the mobility and real-time image processing.

비디오 카메라에서 입력된 동영상을 분석하여 교차로에서 교통량을 자동적으로 측정하는 시스템을 설계, 구현하였다. 입력 영상에서 배경과 전경을 분리하기 위하여 3가지 방법을 비교 분석하였으며 이중에서 좋은 결과를 보여주는 Li의 방법을 선택하였다. 전경 영상에서 연결 성분 분석을 이용하여 각각의 블로브들을 분리하였으며 분리된 블로브들은 블로브 추적기를 이용하여 프레임 별로 추적된다. 가장 기본적인 추적기는 블로브의 크기와 위치 정보들을 이용한다. 블로브들 간에 충돌이 있는 경우에는 블로브 안의 컬러 분포를 이용하는 mean shift 알고리즘이 사용되었다. 제안된 시스템은 실제 교차로 동영상을 이용하여 테스트되었으며 휴리스틱을 추가할 경우, 좋은 감지율과 오차율을 보였다.
A vehicle counting system at intersection is designed and implemented using analyzing a video stream from a camera. To separate foreground image from background, we compare three different methods, among which Li's method is chosen. Blobs are extracted from the foreground image using connected component analysis and the blobs are tracked by a blob tracker, frame by frame. The primary tracker use only the size and location of blob in foreground image. If there is a collision between blobs, the mean-shift tracking algorithm based on color distribution of blob is used. The proposed system is tested using real video data at intersection. If some huristics is applied, the system shows a good detection rate and a low error rate.
A Shift in Information Dissemination Methods in a Cultural Ritual amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

This study aims to unravel the shift in the customary method of disseminating information about the ritual of Perang Topat (literally translated as "rice-cake war") as carried out by the custom community of Kemaliq Lingsar in the West Lombok Regency of Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Grounded in the ethnography of communication research methodology, this study examines the process of the cultural ritual during the 2020 period of the pandemic and compares it to the ones held in 2018 and 2019 (before the current pandemic). Drawing on findings from observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, it was revealed that the traditional or custom-oriented community of Kemaliq Lingsar abandoned all three prominently used methods of disseminating the information of the Perang Topat ritual that had been used prior to the pandemic, and that they were replaced by a strategy with solely face-to-face (FTF) interpersonal communication carried out by visiting the homes of the target participants of the cultural event. This method was relevant to the current viral crisis because it enabled the committee to minimize the number of spectators which might potentially violate COVID-19 health protocols. This finding also reinforces the hypothetical statement that interpersonal communication via FTF is effective in disseminating information in a limited manner and empowering the emotional bond between the individuals who share relationships and similar interests. The findings of the present study can be a reference for any events where physical distancing must be strictly imposed and require a limit to the number of participants during the pandemic.
Mean Shift 알고리즘과 영역 병합 방법을 이용한 경계선 보존 컬러 영상 분할

Mean shift 방법은 중심 모드를 찾기 위한 비모수적 통계 방법으로 컬러 영상을 분할하는데 효율적이다. 그러나 입력되는 윈도우 크기에 따라 분할된 결과가 달라지며 윈도우의 크기 값이 작을 경우 많은 영역으로 분할되는 단점이 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 단점을 개선하여 mean shift 알고리즘에 의한 분할 영상이 과도하게 분할되었을 경우 영역 병합 방법을 이용하여 유사 영역을 병합하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 과분할된 영상을 HSI 컬러 공간으로 변환하여 색상 정보를 이용하여 유사 영역으로 병합하며 이때 경계 영역을 보존하기 위해 영역 병합 제한자를 이용하여 병합 유무를 결정한다. 그 후 RGB 컬러 공간을 이용하여 HSI 컬러 공간에서 병합되지 않은 영역들을 병합하였다. 실험 결과는 다양한 영상에 대해 주요 영역들의 분할 결과에서 우수한 성능을 보여준다.
Mean shift procedure is applied for the data points in the joint spatial-range domain and achieves a high quality. However, a color image is segmented differently according to the inputted spatial parameter or range parameter and the demerit is that the image is broken into many small regions in case of the small parameter. In this paper, to improve this demerit, we propose the method that groups similar regions using region merging method for over-segmented images. The proposed method converts a over-segmented image in RGB color space into in HSI color space and merges similar regions by hue information. Here, to preserve edge information, the region merge constraints are used to decide whether regions are merged or not. After then, we merge the regions in RGB color space for non-processed regions in HSI color space. Experimental results show the superiority in region's segmentation results.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of weight shift training with electrical sensory simulation feedback on quiet standing balance in hemiplegic stroke patients. METHODS: 30 stroke patients were equally allocated at random to an experimental group or a control group. Patients in both two groups underwent comprehensive rehabilitation physical therapy for 30 minutes per day for 5 days per week for 4 weeks. Members of the experimental group received additional weight shift training with electrical sensory simulation feedback was conducted for 15 minutes after 30 minute sessions, whereas members of the control group underwent additional leftward/rightward weight shift training by themselves after 30 minutes per day for four weeks. COP (center of pressure) path lengths, COP velocities, and foot forces were measured before and immediately after the 4-week training period in both groups and results were compared. RESULTS: COP path lengths significantly decreased by 3% after training in the experimental group and this was significantly greater than that observed in the control group (p<0.05). In both groups, foot forces of affected sides showed significant increases after intervention, whereas foot forces of unaffected sides showed significant decreases (p<0.05). No significant difference was observed between the two groups with respect to these changes. CONCLUSION: Weight shift training using electrical sensory simulation feedback has a positive effect on quiet standing balance in hemiplegic stroke.
Effects of Compelled Weight Shift on Balance Ability in Patients with Stroke

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of compelled weight shift in paretic lower limb training on balance ability in patients with stroke. Methods: Thirty-six individuals with hemiparesis, who were randomly assigned to a 10CWST (10 mm constrained -weight shift training) group, a 5CWST (5 mm constrained-weight shift training) group, and a control group participated in this study. Compelled weight shift training was performed in 3 sets of 5 min with a rest period of 1 min between sets. Both the 5CWST and 10CWST groups performed 5 times per week for 4 weeks. Static (mediolateral and anteroposterior sway velocities) and dynamic balance (mediolateral and anteroposterior distances) was assessed using the Good Balance system. Results: Significant differences were found in the M-L and A-P sway velocities, and the M-L sway distance. The M-L and A-P sway velocities, and M-L sway distance showed significantly large group effects (p<0.05), time effects (p<0.05), and group-by-time interaction (p<0.05). The post hoc analyses indicated that, following intervention, the 10CWST group showed more significant changes in the M-L and A-P sway velocities, and the M-L sway distance than the control group. Conclusion: These results suggest that the use of compelled weight shift in paretic lower limb training may be an effective method to improve balance ability in patients with stroke.
Effect of Trunk Side Shift Exercise on the Cobb's Angle of Patients with Idiopathic Scoliosis

Purpose: This study examined the effects of trunk side shift exercise on the Cobb's angle. Methods: Fifty-eight subjects (control group=30, scoliosis group=28) were enrolled in this study. The idiopathic scoliosis groups were divided randomly into two groups, a side shift exercise (SSE) group, and a trunk stabilization exercise (TSE) group. The SSE group performed side shift exercise on the developed chair training for eight weeks. The TSE group performed trunk stabilization exercise. A oneway ANOVA test was carried out to compare the results within the idiopathic scoliosis patient group before and after the exercises based on the different exercise methods. Results: The Cobb's angles were compared among control group and SSE group and TSE group. As a result, there was a significant difference from SSE group and TSE group(p=0.000), but there were no significant differences between the SSE and TSE groups (p=0.085). Conclusion: Side shift exercises are effective in improving the Cobb's angle. Therefore, the use of the side shift exercise chair designed in this study can replace general exercise either at work or during studies. Therefore, this method is easily accessible for busy modern students who are exposed to scoliosis or spinal disorders due to a pattern of inactivity.

Beyond 6G services and applications demand high and efficient processing capacity due to the massive connectivity of users equipment (UEs). However, the high computational capability and energy consumption of UEs are limited, which becomes a main challenge to overcome. Multi-access edge computing (MEC) has recently been studied widely as it can potentially assist complex tasks executed at UEs. Furthermore, several techniques have been proposed to optimize task offloading among users. Thus, another challenge in MEC is emerging due to the fact that mobile users do not always have a line-of-sight (LoS) to the base station (BS) due to the blocking object. Therefore, it can affect users data rate and result in incremental energy consumption. This research introduces the concept of reconfigurable intelligence surfaces (RIS) to support multiple-input-single-output (MISO) base stations (BS) in both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) using BCD algorithms. While previous studies concentrate on enhancing task offloading and neglecting inter-user interference, this study suggests an optimization approach for UL and DL data rates, as well as minimizing task offloading delays. The results indicate that optimizing task placement, phase shift, and precoding can reduce the duration of task offloading.

Smart Divide and the Paradigm Shift of Social Capital

In the current smart device-based information environment, information utilization is closely related to social capital. Additionally, the smart divide that occurs owing to the differences in use of smart devices has a significant influence on social capital. In this respect, this research empirically analyzed how the smart divide affects social capital construction. The study found that the level of and proficiency in using smart devices and diversity of the information formats used through smart devices affect social capital construction. Further, people who fully utilize smart devices can enhance their participation in social activities, social networks, and reciprocal activities, leading people to construct social capital in a wider range. Contrarily, those who are unable to use smart devices adequately may be disadvantaged in terms of the opportunity to construct social capital and share public interests. Thus, to maximize the intrinsic value of social capital, it is necessary to consider the factors of the smart divide as a complicated and multi-faceted digital divide and the ways to utilize social capital as a driving force for integrating society, and not as a mechanism for dividing members of society.

Purpose: This study investigates the associations among fear of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, psychological distress, and sleep quality among shift nurses in tertiary hospitals in Mongolia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 204 shift nurses from two tertiary hospitals in Ulaanbaatar. Validated instruments were used to assess variables, which include the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, Impact of Event Scale-6, Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regressions. Results: The prevalence of poor sleep quality in shift nurses was 65.2%. While fear of COVID-19 and PTSD symptoms showed significant bivariate correlations with sleep quality, psychological distress was the only significant independent predictor of poor sleep quality in the adjusted regression model (?=0.301, p<.001). In addition, younger nurses and those with less clinical experience reported significantly higher levels of psychological distress and poor sleep quality. Conclusion: Psychological distress was the primary independent predictor of sleep quality among shift nurses in resource-constrained settings. Interventions aimed at improving sleep health should prioritize the mitigation of psychological distress through structured psychological support programs. Special attention should be directed toward early-career and frontline nurses who are more vulnerable to psychological burden.
Working Conditions and Fatigue in Japanese Shift Work Nurses: A Cross-sectional Survey

Purpose This study aimed to identify the working conditions (working hours, overtime work, number of night shifts, number of holidays, and work intervals) associated with fatigue, based on the shift patterns, and determine their thresholds. Methods From January to February 2020, a web-based questionnaire was sent to 4601 shift work nurses at 47 hospitals in Japan. The multivariate logistic analysis was conducted to predict high- and low-fatigue groups by working conditions, and receiver operating characteristic analysis was performed to clarify the high-fatigue thresholds by shift pattern. Results A total of 386 shift work nurses participated in this study. The threshold (fatigue was 3.0 or higher) of the two-shift rotation was 9 hours 50 minutes for daily working hours during day shifts (Odds ratio [OR] = 1.57, p < .01), 17 hours 15 minutes for daily working hours during night shifts (OR = 1.20, p < .01), and 8.0 days for the number of night shifts (OR = 1.09, p = .02). The threshold of the three-shift rotation was 9 hours 45 minutes (OR = 1.59, p < .01), 2.9 days for the number of midnight shifts (OR = 1.53, p < .01), and 2.0 times for the interval between day-shift and night-shifts within 12 hours (OR = 1.39, p < .01). Conclusion Working hours and the number of night shifts are important for two-shift rotation, and working hours for the assignment of midnight shift are important for three-shift rotations. Nurse managers should manage shifts according to nurses’ shift patterns.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify influencing factors for sleep quality among shift-working nurses based on a three-factor scoring model that included sleep efficacy, sleep quality and daily dysfunction. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 513 nurses in a hospital in Shanghai, China, was conducted using a self-reported questionnaire. Sleep quality was measured by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed based on the three-factor PSQI model: Factor 1, sleep efficacy; Factor 2, sleep quality; Factor 3, daily disturbances. Results: After adjusting for age, marital status, and having children, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that participants who had previous shift work experience which was at least 6 months ago, or were currently performing shift work were significantly more likely to have poor sleep quality (PSQI > 5) than those who had never done shift work (adjusted odds ratios of 3.943 and 3.975, respectively, both p < .001). Mean scores of the three individual factors increased significantly among nurses currently performing shift work compared with those who had never done shift work (Factor 1, b = 0.61, p < .001; Factor 2, b = 1.86, p < .001; Factor 3, b = 0.45, p = .002). Mean scores of Factor 2 and Factor 3 increased significantly among nurses with previous shift work experience compared with those who had never done shift work (Factor 2, b = 1.15, p = .003; Factor 3, b = 0.52, p = .005). Conclusions: Performing current shift work and performing shift work previously were significantly associated with poor sleep quality. An appropriate arrangement and intervention strategies are needed in Chinese hospitals in order to improve sleep quality among shift-working nurses.
