- The aim of this paper is to investigate problems related to translation of Korean film titles into Russian. Titles play an important role in representing a text or a film, providing readers/audience general information as well as attracting attention. The translated titles can also have influence on the acceptance of films in the target society. This study analyzes 220 Korean film titles and their translations in Russian, focusing on various types of methods used in translation. Analysis shows four methods are used, which are borrowing, literal translation, partial shift, and full shift. Some former studies on this issue will be reviewed, and four methods of translation will be analyzed to evaluate implications of translated titles on understanding of Korean films in Russia. Finally the influence of English titles on Russian translation will also be revealed.
